AT&T One X Unbranded with S-Off - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hey guys I bought from ebay a One X that is unbranded AT&T phone that has S-Off. I am attaching a picture to prove it. Now I am wondering if this is a pre-release phone or what something else. I don't even know if I should try to unlock the bootloader. Any ideas let me know. If you need a system dump or anything else, let me know how to do it and I will.
So, should I try to unlock the bootloader?

thats probably a rogers one x... or international does it say ATT on the front under the speaker?

Either way it still shouldn't be S-OFF should it?

No I am not a troll, but thank you. It is running the AT&T software and it says HTC instead of AT&T. I have a gray AT&T One X that I bought at Frys and compared the software and hardware on both. All was the same.
If you notice it says CID-11111111 and not Rogers. So, I don't know.

mine is cid-rogers001 s-off
what is cid-111...?

ok i take that troll thing back BUT then that means the person who you bought it from did something and just installed an ATT ruu AFAIK all att one x's say att on them

hmmmm...if you unlock a rogers hox via htcdev...should still be s-on right?? howd u get s-off??

I think you should both head to the dev forum. The key to s-off for anyone could be in one of those devices

Billy

Can we get someone to move this to the Dev section? Maybe that way a Dev will see this and we can move it along quicker.

A device with S-OFF likely won't help us get S-OFF on other devices. For that reason, I'm not going to move it to the Dev section. Thanks for the consideration everyone!

Quick question regarding root from stock 1.85

Hey everybody, coming from a Atrix, loving the phone so far. I've been doing some reading and want to confirm what I believe I'm seeing: if the OneX I bought from AT&T has 1.85 already on it, I can't root or flash any ROMS yet? All of the root/CWM stuff is just got users on earlier versions, or who are on 1.85 AFTER rooting/unlocking, is that correct? Am I stuck for now?
Thanks!
That is correct if it is for sure 1.85. I think I read somewhere they have a root, but weren't releasing it till after official release.
Someone said at&t hasn't released an update yet, check and see if you bootloader is unlocked, someone did say you may have got a returned phone.
You could also try the one click root and see what happens.

Man I really hope your right that there is an exploit in waiting! I moved to 1.85 by accident and lost root, and I keep hoping a developer gets a break!
here's hoping it is soon!
What happens if we try the one click root? Any damage or bricking?

Communication with HTC on Facebook

Hey community,
I just asked HTC when we get this S-Off to modify our system completely.
Here it is what they think and say about it:
http://www.facebook.com/HTC/posts/10151301063148084?notif_t=feed_comment
If I am wrong about some things, please correct me. But I think that HTC is very wrong about S-ON and Bootloader unlock. Half things they do...
S-ON unlocked is terrible. Possibly the most irritating thing I've ever had to work with.
HTC is still stubborn...
I replied to that post. ****ers won't reply back though.

Idea for s-off for one S

Ok so i wilp be upgrading to a one s in a few days and im wondering if for s-off on the one s could someone make like what the devs did for the n1 with blackrose. Or could someone find someone one with one of the rare one s dev phones with s-off and extract the s-off hboot from that and flash it on all the other one s phones

The basic chicken & egg situation is that you need s-off to write hboot.
You'd have to boot the device through some other means than the normal (s-on) hboot, or spoof some check(s) to prevent the normal hboot from setting mmc protection.
Well i know that sansung phones have something called unbrickable mod and that starts before the bootloader ir os or anything likebthat starts. If soneone can get something like that then we could s-off the one s easily

I don't what I could use S-OFF for at this moment. Sure, there might be devs who just would start some efficient stuff, but thanks to those current recoveries where already have most of the possible functionalities.

Downgrade from 4.1 to 4.0.4 to flash ROM

Well I have an AT&T HTC ONE X and it was 100% stock but the SIM slot failed and I had to get a warranty replacement, and it has 4.1 already installed... Is there anyway to downgrade so I am able to flash CM10 or is there any way to flash CM10 right now?
Thanks.
Does the s-off exploit not work on 4.1? I haven't seen anyone try it

From what I know if you took the ota update then there's no work around into root/unlock bootloader/s-off as the update patched it up,so pretty much your stuck with the ota update with no root and anything else until someone can figure out another method

If you're on AT&T, no. Downgrading is possible, but you need s-off, and you need to root to get s-off. There is apparent root method for 4.1 on AT&T. One guy managed it on the x-factor exploit but no one else has been able to.

I agree that Samsung+Odin makes life easier. But I like the challenge in AT&T (and Motorolas). Whatever floats your boat. Glad you got it rooted. Can you put a [fixed] or [solved] tag in your title? That way people can easily find the answer instead of making a new thread
