Is the SGH-I727R from Rogers in Canada, the same phone than the SGH-I727 from this forum?
If so, can I root it with the same method and use the same roms and kernels?
Thx

You can use all the same methods but have to use Rogers Roms. Most devs are posting whether or not it works with rogers

Thank you so much for your quick response.

And happy holidays.

I also have a Rogers s2lte and have tried out all the roms and most work pretty well with our phones but I am currently using sky ice cream sandwich and I gotta say its probably the best so far and welcome to the skyrocket

ok, so essentially we just root the rogers device, look for a rom that mentions rogers somewhere and go for it? I will try the above one, anyone else do a kernel as well?!
thx in advance
Yes you have to use Rogers ROMS..
but from what i can see it seems that the Rogers ROM's are preferred to be used since there is not CIQ.
the Base ROM a dev made was with the rogers ROM

I want to flash the new T989 stock ROM that just dropped. I can't find the 4.0.3 kernel, or can I use the 4.0.4 kernel.
yes... I did try search and reading. 4.0.3 Kernel, 4.0.3 STOCK kernel. Ect. Even http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383464
you mean this kernel?

I meant the compiled 4.0.3 kernel for the skyrocket. Apologies I left out key information there with that one. Awful lot of ICS stuff and modded ROMs to sift through.
This is the best you'll get until someone compiles and modifies the t989 source.

Unfortunately modded, but alas I think you're right. I don't have a spare phone to flash 'n rip it out anymore. TY
I dug around trying to find it, but with the flood of ICS kernels was really looking bleak.
Hello All,
I am a current Galaxy Nexus user but I have come over here to ask a few questions in regards to the I727. My friend owns this device and has just upgraded his phone to ICS 4.0.4 (Build # IMM76D.UCLF6), and he has come to me wanting me to root his phone for him. Now just for a little background, he has never been rooted and has always run his phone stock. He updated through the Kies software. I am pretty familiar with android and the rooting process. My questions is due to the fairly recent release of ICS is there a working way to root this device?
I have briefly browsed a few of the rooting threads and to my knowledge they are only working if you are running either 2.3.5 or .6. If someone wouldn't mind shedding some light on this situation, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hope this helps

So maybe I am a little spoiled with having the galaxy nexus. It just seems that after viewing a few of the threads and topics, that I see a lot of issues with ppl flashing and rooting this device? Now I do understand that most issues are user error..

They are more than likely user error. But you should be fine.

Almost 99% user error from people flashing other variants of gs2 -777, Global version
Also flash cm9 on his rocket as it's insanely better than stock twiz
CM9 Skyrocket

I prefer aokp. And there is info on the "brick bug" in the link I posted earlier. I would share what my understanding of it is, but I'm not so sure myself and I don't want any misunderstanding of it. So feel free to take a look.

theres a new updated sticky by me in the dev forum that has all the current roms
[REF] SKYROCKET >> | ROMS | KERNELS | FIRMWARE | RADIOS | GUIDES | INFo
I have installed CarbonRom 1.1. I notice that my kernal is a UCLB3. Is that the ideal one for the 4.2.2? Not much of a techie but do like to tinker. Thanks.
All the ICS and JB kernels are based on UCLB3. Use the one recommended by the ROM Dev.
