guys I have a serious problem..!!
I was in 5.1.8 everything was fine non a problem and when 5.5 came out I installed it, super wipe script, and install the Rom; I was getting a lot of boot loops. Reinstall the ROM again full wiping, ans still the same. I came back to 5.1.8 and I'm still having boot loops but not that often like it was in 5.5, now I have boot loops when turn on the data or when I try to make a call... I really don't know what could be the problem because I have installed hundreds of roms with the same steps and everything was fine,.I don't know what could be the problem...
I hope someone could help me thanks a lot

Hi... I once had a similar problem late last year. My phone kept rebooting randomly, sometimes as soon I switch the phone on, or data like yourself. What I did was.... Installed the official RUU that came on my phone (O2) and the rebooting stopped. But I felt the need to send it back anyway, so I did and just as well, because HTC replaced the mainboard and a few other things. I hadn't overclocked or anything either so it was a strange one.
This way worked for me, so give it a go.
I rooted my phone, then unrooted without ever installing a custom rom. I have gotten boot loops ever since and seemingly random shut downs that require me to take out the battery and put it back in before the phone will boot up again. Happens every day, several times a day.

When you say rooted and unrooted what exactly did you do?? Meaning did you HTC unlock or use revolutionary to s-off? And what recovery did you use? Because in actuality all root is, is the su binaries and the su app, not the process of gaining the access. There are inherent problems with the htcdev unlock and using cwm as your recovery. Even if you delete su the remnants of either process could possibly cause problems. Did you return to s-on again?? Because that will cause serious issues if you don't have the correct ruu. Did you flash any newer firmwares??? The few before .32 did cause loops without the correct rom.
Also in your case it sounds like a rogue app causing loops because it boots up after a battery pull. Have you tried to factory reset and wipe your data to see if that helps??

Used Revolutionary, not sure what I used to put it back as it's been a while but I followed a guide from here. I'm trying the card piece trick so we'll see if it does anything.

Thanks but not s-off anymore and just got another reboot so I doubt it's the battery. I guess I'll try to deal with it until ICS and see if that fixes anything. If not then I guess I'll try something more drastic.
Well get soff you can't fix with out it

Ok, got s-off again.
It seems to have something to do with going in and out of service or switching between wifi and cell service. But that could just be a coincidence.
Anyone have ideas on how to fix this? I got the OTA ICS and I'm still getting reboots.

it won't hurt ur phone u must stick a tape to close the gap between batt pins and connectors do it and see it easy but worth allot
Tried that earlier in this thread and it didn't help.
Anyone else?
Well guys after reading I fixed my problem cleaning the little panels in the battery, and also installing another rom, seems like the htc sense roms have some problems with that because since I install a senseless rom (not aosp) the problem is gone

I think you did not unroot properly. Can you please describe the process you used for unrooting?
Don't remember what guide I used to unroot as it was a while back. It definitely seems to have something to do with the signal. It will lose signal, reboot, get pretty warm and repeat while sometimes just shutting off and needing the battery pulled and put back before it will turn back on. My wife will have a signal just fine in the same areas mine loses them.
Very frustrating because I'm missing a lot of calls and txts because it'll just shut down.

First make a NANDROID backup now. Then try rooting again to see if that fixes the issue.
If not, try to flash a different Radio. I would in your case also suggest wiping all partitions except SD card and re-installing the ROM, after flashing the radio.

Hi all,
The last week or so I've been getting random signal drops (in more than one area). I tried to fix this (to no avail) with the latest radio. A co-worker advised me to re-flash the rom I was using after upgrading the radio as he had problems booting until he did this.
So I reflashed my back up - no such luck there, still dropping signal, not receiving messages etc. and now I also have the issue of my phone randomly rebooting or completely shutting off (to the point I have to pull the battery before I can turn it back on again).
I've tried now 2 different radios, 2 different kernels and now 3 different roms.
From this I'd guess it was hardware at fault?
I'm going to put the phone back to stock and contact my carriers customer support but this probably won't be done until after christmas now bad timing!
I'm also stuck using a blackberry 9870 until this is sorted so.. that just makes it worse.
try this turn phone off. remove battery for ten sec then and also remove sd card. go into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik put the sd card back in and reboot. hope it helps.
Which ROM are you using? I'm having the same problem...

I'm having the same problem...
I'm using ARHD 4.1.9 and not change anything
Thanks for the advice cameljockey1, I tried that but no such luck.
Today I've put a different version of CWM on, and also put a stock sensation XE rom on there, just waiting to see if it's behaving itself now..
EDIT: Okay so I've put the radio '10.38.9007.00P_10.11.9007.06' and it seems to be working OK now, I'm going to flash a CM7 rom and hope it stays on!
Don't flash the lastest radio from the wiki. I have had issues with that to where my phone would reboot

Im on Elegancia 1.4. I get random reboots about every other day. And when it does reboot, it will reboot a few times in a row. Tried Coredroid and it was stable but apps would freeze too much.
After I rooted my desire s, I backed up all my apps using titanium backup. everything went right but then my phone kept losing the signal and started rebooting. I flashed cyanogenmod 7 and everything was working again. After a week I decided to restore all of my apps again with titanium backup. When everything was restored, my had the same problem again. When reflashing another rom everything works fine until I restore all of my apps. This problem doesn't appear when i put the phone in airplane mode.
anyone any idea why this is happening? Is it because of my apps?
Hope this helps.

Now, try installing 1 app at a time .. for a while. . . & I'm sure u'll catch hold of the culprit pretty soon !

Hello mate,
I have similar problems with my Desire S. Have you figured out what was causing the rebooting on yours?
I find if you turn off fast boot it solves the problem.

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately turning off fast boot didn't fix it.
A few days after upgrading to ICS my phone started rebooting constantly. When I take out the sim, the phone is more stable but even without the sim it occasional reboots on its own. With the sim it restarts as soon as it's booted. The first time it started rebooting was after I switched on Mobile network and downloaded my email using K-9.
My phone is unlocked SAGA PVT SHIP S-On HBOOT 2.00.0002 RADIO 3822.10.08.04_M EMMC-BOOT with 4EXT RECOVERY V2.2.7 RC5
I've tried Virtual Saga 1.0.0 and currently am on ICE DS v 4.4.
I'm soo desperate that I've even tried downgrading. That was unsuccessful too :crying: I've tried RUU_Saga_O2_UK_1.31.206.2_R_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.14_M_release_180220_signed
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I started installing one app a time, but after I restored all my games I became to lazy to restore everything, so I only installed the important stuff I use everyday. After that I became infected with a light form of ORD, so I have never ever restored everything again . I got a great rom now, so I think I'll restore everything again. I'll let you know if I find what causes the problem
Miki were u doing anything prior to the reboots?
It is not a Rom issue, could be an app as op suggested. Just run phone and reinstall one by one.
If not it could be Ur battery is loose. Try putting something to give it a better grip. It has been posted before.

rain987 many thanks for the post. I've seen that mentioned too, but in my case it's definitely not a loose battery since there is no rebooting when there is no sim card. Also when I boot it with the sim, I leave the phone flat on the table so there are no shakes that could cause the battery to loose connection. The phone reboots as soon as GSM is established.
I've removed all the downloaded apps except Google Play Store, HTC sync and SuperSU and the phone reboots with the sim card again. I could remove the last three apps, but I'm concerned I might not be able to get them back if I do so. Should I remove them too?
I suggest making a nandroid backup before removing them. If the problem is solved, nice. If it isn't, you can restore everything
Hi,
Sometimes my Sensation just reboots itself. My first thought was because of the beta version of the ICS, so I decided to go back to the Ginger. But im still having the same problem.
Does someone has the problem and what did you do, to let it disappear
Thanks
reeboots
hi,
first you should download the latest firmware package from mike1986 and upgrade.
put it on your sd and go into bootloader and let it detect it (that the one you need "Firmware from 3.12.401.2/102 RUU")
after that put your wanted rom and do full wipe ext4 and than flash your wanted rom.
remember don't use any ad dons that are not supported it will cause you those reboot problems, also when restoring from backup restore only data like sms and ppl. apps data may be not supported and could cause problems.
good luck...
Ok, i'll try it again.
I've already did that so.. we shall see..
Thanks ;-)
The random reboots seem to be a quite common problem. I'm also having this issue. But setting the phone to either GSM only or WCDMA only seems to keep it alive (if the cause for reboot is the same as mine of course..). I installed the new firmware hoping it would help but I still get reboots. It's actually not a reboot as the phone just turns off and I have to manually turn it on again.
Yes its the same as me, but sometimes my phone 'reboots' more than once in 5 minutes..
Also my battery change from 5% to 30% to 7% to 41%...

My One X restarts when I'm in the Google Play app and while using the built in browser. It seems to be data related... Also I get no error or anything of that nature, it just freezes (stops responding to any input whatsoever the capacitive buttons don't respond either) and it just restarts and goes through the HTC and AT&T load screens. Any ideas as to why my phone keeps restarting after a bit of use on the market, browser, etc... I've sent in my original phone thinking it might've been defective. Turns out the one they sent me did the same thing. Mind you they sent me a refurbished one. So I don't know if its a problem isolated to the original shipments of HOX's since I got mine via a pre-order and this is probably the same batch since the AT&T rep said they had no new devices to ship to me as a replacement.
Any ideas?
I've gone through a few HOXs and have never had a single reboot on any of them. My suggestion to you would be to wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik) and reflash your ROM.

How exactly would I go about doing that. I used the clockwork recovery mod on my Aria back when I had that. But from what I understand the HOX doesn't have that yet and attempting to use ROM Manager or anything that uses it would brick my phone.
We have clockwork mod and TWRP recoveries. I take it you are on a stock ROM then? Are you rooted?
Oh, and never use ROM Manager. Ever.

Yeah I'm rooted (on the stock ROM) and I managed to get my bootloader unlocked.
I take it you haven't flashed any mods right? I'd get clockworkmod flashed on your phone and then wipe and flash CleanROM SE. It's very close to stock, perfectly stable (I haven't had a single force close except for one youtube one a long while back right after flashing), and it has some great mods and tweaks. If you are still having reboots, then I would RUU back to stock, see if they are still there and if they are, get it replaced.

Yep, that's the one. Happy to help.
Radio
If your issues were mostly data related its probably a radio issue. Be sure to flash a new radio. If I'm not mistaken most roms don't include the radio. I like the latest AT&T as well as 1.88. Much better than 1.73 or 1.85. you can flash it just like a rom if it's in zip format. There's a thread in development with radio In the title. Normally first page.

I had this exact problem. EXACT. Does it happen on WiFi only? try turning it off.
EDIT: this happened to me on two different HOXs, one just after i updated to 1.82, and the other, stock from the store on 1.85. I was able to narrow it down to the fact that our home wifi was unprotected with a hidden SSID. as soon as we changed it to WPA it worked fine, and continues to.
Hi,
Yesterday I connected phone to the charger, then htc crashed, so I tried to pull out battery and put in after 5-10 mins but I couldn't boot up Sensation, even I didn't see orange/yellow LED light what means that charger is connected (I thought it's bricked device now...). Today I did the same standard procedure and surprisingly I could turn on my phone. Unfortunately, when I entered the PIN code, after 2-3 minutes htc crashed again. Screen frozen for about 10 seconds, I couldn't do anything. Recovery mode works OK, it doesn't crash there. I also tried to wipe all data and restore system from backups; install ROM again - and the same thing happened. I'm using ViperS ROM. I hope I didn't damage anything inside device. I might that HTC Service has replaced motherboard in my Sensation 1.5 month ago.
The question is what can I do, test or do something what can solve this problem? Since motherboard replacement it worked fine, till yesterday.
Maybe they replaced worse motherboard? I just wanna be ensured that I didn't do something bad (maybe it's known problem) before sending this device for 3 weeks again.
I look forward to the answers.
May be you have set the CPU frequency too high and reboots to protect your cpu. Also try to return to stock rom and see if there reboots

Thank you for your answer.
I don't think that 1566MHz is too high CPU frequency, but I set it to lower in viper's tweaks and it's still happening.
#edit
It crashed in recovery too...
Have you tried different rom, different kernel? If it's still happening start everything fresh and as it was suggested before go back to stock again. Run a RUU and see if it still happens.
Thank you guys. Works like a charm. I installed stock ROM, recovery again and then I restored backup. No crash for 1 hour, I hope it won't happen again.
Unfortunately, it worked fine for one day. Now I have the same situation. I ran Road Race game and after 3 mins of playing, screen got stucked and I heard loop sound.
Now I'm trying to boot up Sensation for 30 minutes.. It stucked on boot animation, but device doesn't get bootloop.
Maybe it's something wrong with GPU?
When u say restored backup, what do you mean? Apps or nandroid? After you flashed the ruu I would recommend to start fresh. If you use custom Rom, flash it with full wipe plus redownload all your apps again from play. Do not overclock gpu and cpu either.

No. No. No. NO. NO. NO.
That's just inviting more trouble... lots of people report errors when they S-ON again... so you might not want to do that... unless you want to go back to HTC service and ask about the problem...
Depends if they do S-ON well. I just dunno what can I do now, these crashes are really annoying. Probably I don't have a choice, so I should send it to HTC service, but I'm afraid that they will simply install software again, and then they will send me back with details on paper: "Software has been re-installed". That crash happens sometimes 5 minutes after boot to few hours after using.
