Working Port of the HTC Amaze ICS Camera
this is working on Sense 3.6 4.0.3 builds - i wouldn't advise trying on sense4
(cudos to Steve0007 - i know your thread is on hold)
this is tested on Baadnewz 5.5.0 please report about other builds.
note - i'm on the Sensation XE - i see no reason it won't work on the standard Sensation

updated from the 2.14.531.3 Tmous Amaze 4g rom leak.
tweaked media profile to reduce jpeg compression
tested with Kernel by SebastianFM here - shutter lag decreased significantly. if you use the camera a lot this is a good combination. faster than Sensation Camera with improved quality.
'zero shutter lag' is Kernel dependent - i mod and build the odd rom for various devices but i'm NOT a kernel Dev
note: this may work on other devices if the updater script is ammended

reboot and enjoy.

3.6 is still more complete and stable at the mo - it's down to functionality.

May i ask what is the deference between the Camera App in the sensation and the amaze? As far as i know the Amaze line has always been equipped with some of the best cameras/camera lens from HTC , But what is the deference in the Camera App?

Hi folks, to answer a few questions.
I've pulled the camera and libs from the amaze ics builds. I've tweaked to get running.
So a few bits are merged with existing sensation apps and libs.
There are additional options within the camera that are not available on the sensation
I suspect the biggest difference people will look for is zero shutter lag
I can't promise this as it's down to the kernel .
HTC apps require the HTC framework. I honestly doubt this would work on non HTC builds. If you want to try back up first in recovery that way it can't do too much damage.

This is the HTC Amaze camera for Sense 3.5 / 2.3.5 ROMs ported by myself and Baadnewz
We dont really have the time or the device to work on it right now but would be good for you devs on DHD section to use it and fix it up
At the moment you cant take a picture because of sizing
What it needs so far as far as i know:
Remove mirror app from HTCCamera.apk
Resize to fit DHD's 480x800 (Currently made to fit Sensation @ 540x960)
Needs stock 2.3.5 kernel also

getting it to work with 'sqall's kernel... that'll be another thing
(im going to start comparing code of the two camera apk's... they should be fairly similar when it comes to actual kernel function references)

well i don't have a dhd, and i'm more of a trial of error guy, so cant help you with resizing or other stuff that may arise, for sensation i got it all working including the mirror app and front facing camera

Panoramic pictures is not in the stock camera app for DHD.

afaik i can answer a call without unlocking on both hypersensation and hypernonsense...
ontopic - i suggest you to try out hypersensation,at the beggining i was skeptic too but everything is extremely smooth(kristofpetho took it to a whole new level ),only thing i dont like is camera but its not that bad...if you dont like cm7 then try out hypernonsense(beats,amazecam and other things)...
If you don't want sense, why buy a HTC phone???

I have the same question. I will be getting my sensation tomorrow(hopefully) and would like to know ROM is the best for battery life, UI and looks.
i have looked at some ROM's and i like this one MIUI.us HTC Sensation 1.11.25 but im not sure how good is the battery and if there are better ones out there.

I've been meaning to try hypernosense. That rom looks great and I'm just plain tired of Rosie launcher.
But if you're not into the CM-based variants, you can always grab the fastest, most stable Sense rom and run lukogriffioen's no sense script over it. I like this script because it removes more stuff than the ones we have in the Sensation forum and you get to keep the Sense lockscreen if you want. Only thing I don't like about this script is that it installs Launcher Pro and Go SMS, but whatever I took them both out and put an English translated 360 Launcher and stock SMS app in their places.
Just throwing out another alternative if you don't like any of the current no sense roms. Just make your own.

I know this is not what you said you wanted but I highly suggest MIUI buy miui.us. It is real nice and stable, absolutely wonderful on battery life on the Bricked kernel OC'd at 1.5GHz.
I don't have a screenie so you'll just have to take my word for it but with the stock battery, everything syncing, wifi and 3g, 40% brightness and like I said OC'd to 1.53 I get FAR better battery life than I did on ARHD DC'd to 1Ghz. Same thing for the stock rom at 800mhz, SENSEaY at 1Ghz and even InsertCoin at 1Ghz.
You will however have to either push or move a new camera apk to the system because the stock one fcs when you try to take a picture. That has been my only issue so far and its a pretty simple fix.
You can also install the stock GB launcher from the market if you don't like the stock one.
I like hypernonsense... it combines the best aspects of CM7 and Sense, and its simple and clean, quick and snappy.

Porting overall is pretty hard. I don't know the first thing about it, except that it would probably take a lot of time.

the easiest to port from is the desire hd. Its fairly simple for that device (most of the time) so if the dhd gets one id take a crack at it but till then..not so sure

You're gonna have to modify a load of m10 files or you're going to have a lot of things falling off the screen. A kernel is gonna be even worse since you need a Sense compatible ICS kernel, and that won't be fun to conjure up.
Is it possible to see how the camera is configured in that ROM. An take another aosp ics ROM, remove the camera in it, then try to put it in Feb's ROM? Just a thought.

Being that it is sense, I'm figuring it has sense framework, that won't work with aosp. But sering how it works well be helpful. Another thought would be to take a gnex ROM, rip it apart, find the camera files. Keep in mind where they go, then try to duplicate it in our ROM.

Many core apps don't really work, but at least we get the real launcher. Most of the things can be ripped out easily or by deleting the apk from /system/app.

To all those that wonder how it sounds like:
- Nokia BT Stereo Headset: Just amazing with Beats and SRS, little less amazing with the other stuff.
- Sennheiser cheapo Headset: Cool with HTC enhancer and some of the normal presets. Beats not soo much.
- Car Stereo with 400watss quad amp and Rodek/Pioneer Speaker combo: not soo much amazing. Beats is quite OK though. But the system lacks quality so its natural its not having full capacity.
My summary: The Sh1t for earbuds, less efficient on bigger speakers. Amazing thing though.

Just installed on TrickDroid 8.0.0 and damn! Fantastic work my 40mm speaker head phones love it. And as said some options do have some distortion but lowering the volumes a step or two down clear it up

Hey my friend...first you seem to be having multiple problems...this....And in Rom thread that nobody else can reproduce...My suggestion full wipe and flash Rom and boot image...And 9 times out of 10 they will disappear!
2nd I understand why he posted that...You posted 2 honestly stupid questions almost in a row! Please read what others post once the thread gets rolling and read op thoroughly!

Yeah ok then say that you tested and found out that it doesn't work on 2.21 base for you.
Then the next step will be that Torxx might ask you some questions for more details and then we can officially confirm: not working on Base 2.21
For this to be possible you need to report which ROM you are on currently (here the radio is of no importance) and provide some other details that lets people understand your current environment and steps you did. Then there might be other people that will try to follow the steps you did and if they confirm your observations we have some facts.
Just like rushing in, saying it dont work on 2.21 and the radio and appearing all confused doesn't help much...
As i said: its not really about hating you or so but you do act a bit foolish sometimes. Sorry to be so blunt i fear i will hurt you with this but i need to say it anyway.
You can really be helpful if you stick to some basic try/observe/report rules.

Play some music and pull down notification bar and select the music notification. This opens the player in full screen mode, press menu and select Sound Enhancer.
When it pops open notice on the left near the top it says Sound Enhancer, press on that for various sound enhancements.

Ok mate once more. This is a new port and Torxx needs to correct possible errors which he can only fix if he knows where to look.
So would you please be so kind to share what ROM exactly you are on and do a bit more than just say it doesn't work for gods sake. Can't be that hard.

Don't think I'm a noob asking this question but I was wondering if anyone can port sense 5 to sensation xe. ( and I know jelly bean hasn't even come yet) since one s is getting sense five the XE can they havw near enough the same specs except a 200mb ram differnce. They have same clock speed aswell.

There's a lot of discussion around about that update, ports and roms to come. I don't consider myself a noob either until I commit some mistakes, like posting in the wrong place or not reading anything around (either general or development sections have info on some future projects).
Check the ViperS thread, they are planning a release soon (just don't go asking for ETA's like that).
Also check general discussion, there's threads with a self explanatory title.
When there will be a fully functional Sense 5 UI port then it will be POSTED HERE! Work to some new port is not easy! A mighty lot of bugs and not working properly functions and a lot of testing testing testing.... So you - home user get almost the full 'official' experiance!
ViperS is working on something and I guess sometime in this year their project will be finished for sensation!
I repeat myself its a very hard work to build completely new port on some framework that isn't 'officially' supported by HTC... easy part is when its is already done and on that base you build you'r ROM.... Need to wait and eventually there will be one... If you cannot wait there are skins... or new phones!

From what I've seen, Venom is working on a Sense 4.5 for JB (Per venom hub news). Which from what I've seen, I would prefer to Sense 5, But variety is always nice.

Well not sure what u mean, of course, i could port HTC ONE rom, but we have problems even with perfect donor rom (VILLEC2), and dont wana even think how a port would end up, also porting sense it self onto VILLEC2 port is posibble but its also tricky, and would produce bugs.
So theres no point to bother as HTC gona release sense 5.0 relative soon for ONE series...

I believe it's actually possible and might happen by the end of the year or something. HTC already officially announced its plans to update all One series to Sence 5 and that includes our One S brother...
As for me, I just wish CM to get even better, cause Sense makes no sense to me - waaay too heavy & slow compared to stock interface of CM 10.1.
