Why is the ringer and notification are on the same slider... - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

How the heck do I change the volume of the notification separately from the ringer??
I don't want to hear the notification sound, and I can't find an option to set it to "none" either.
Help please. Thank you.

Yeah, that annoys me as well (although I'd like to do the opposite and silence my ringtone while still hearing notifications.)
I'm hoping when the ROMs start rolling out, we'll get separate sliders.

Hd2 Volume Issue

Hello All,
I always want vibration only on ring with no sound. When I set ring to vibrate, that also turns off the sound on the included media player which means no sound for hearing voice mails. To hear voice mail, I have to go to the volume control rocker on the left side of the device and turn up volume. Now I am out of vibrate mode for the ringer, which means I have remember to go back to set the rocker to vibrate. Yes, I have the phone set so that ring and system should be individually adjustable; it does not really work that way, but that isn't the point here.
The Point. Can anyone recommend a cab, registry tweak or adjustment so that my media player volume is disassociated with the media player volume? I would like to have volume for my media player while never having ringer volume.
Thank You,
Ndmand
settings/sound & display and turn single volume off. You will now have separate volumes for ringer and sytem.
it does not work. that was the point of my post
Not so.

Maybe Volumex?

I'm not sure (I'm currently back on my Blackstone), but couldn't you select a "ringtone type" at the sound settings? e.g. "ring"; "ring+vibrate"; "ring, then vibrate"; "vibrate only";... and just select the "vibrate only" option?
I have this options in my Blackstone, but I'm not 100% sure if it's still present in HD2...

Thank You, Coincidence
Thanks for your reply. I really do appreciate it. As fate would have it, I happened to have figured this out yesterday, and it is exactly how you say. The ring tone type is now set to "vibrate" and it seems that I can use the volume key for the more useful purpose of making sure I can hear voice and music. Thanks again for your help.

Sorry, I missed a couple of your posts. I think my problem is fixed, but thanks for the cabs. I am new to Windows Mobile and am excited about the cabs yo posted. I may want to install them just to check them out. Again, thanks so much for your response and your obvious willingness to help others through this forum.

I am a little confused. Happy your request was answered. But maybe you can enlighten me to why the dual volume doesn't work. Or exactly why it didn't work for you. On my T9193 I set it to have dual volume. I keep the ringer volume on vibrate and the system volume turned up. Nothing else is affected by having the ringer volume on vibrate. Texts, emails, all notification sounds come through perfectly except for phone ringer. Did I miss something?
is it normal that if I set ringtone to "vibrate" from settings tab-phone settings I have sound on other apps (e.g. music player) but if I set ring to vibrate using volume button (double volume on) all device get silent ?

Is there a way to turn off ALL SOUNDS quickly?

I don't see why there needs me to so many choices when it comes to sounds. There's
Incoming call volume
Media volume
System volume
Notification volume
Is there a way to set the sound option to actually turn off/on ALL the sounds? Or at least group the Incoming call volume, system volume, and notification volumes together? For some reason, even my notification volume goes way down if I try to turn the ringtone volume down through the rocker yet it won't go back up unless I manually do it from the settings. It's a little annoying, this is the one thing from Apple that Android would copy. Running Infused v2.2.3 by the way.
Have you tried the sound button in your notification bar?
That turns off everything with 1 button.
Kinda obvious lol
Edit: it turns off all sounds except media volume.

Thanks captain obvious but I would like it to turn off sounds from apps too. It's annoying to have to always put the mute on in games.
There's also the problem of sounds from notifications changing too. I want those to always be synonymous with my incoming call volume.
There are plenty of apps that can lock volumes togheter. Search for sound in market. Dont remember any names

I like Simple Sound because you can place a quick toggle Widget on your home screen...
If you're feeling fancy, you can use Llama and it will do location based toggling

Linked Volume

Hello,
Is there anyway to make all the volumes move together at the same time? Its annoying me that when you use the volume up and down on the side of the phone it changes the ring tone only. Sometimes you want the text tone louder but its a lot off faff to go into the settings and change it for the one time you are in a noisy area and you want to hear it.
Thanks
Richard
You could always download an app like Quick Settings and link the ringer volume to the notification volumes so they move the same.
Additionally, Quick Settings is a sweet app and its free.
I am in the market right now!

Notification volume change?

How do I change the notification volume, separate from Ringtone, Media, Calls, etc. My notification sound level seems very high and need to separately change the volume of it and/or mute it without muting other sounds.
I thought this was a standard Android feature, or am I just missing something?
Hard to test because only way to know is when notifications come in.
Thank you,
I would like to know as well

OnePlus 6 Alert Slider...

Does anybody else think the Alert Slider is a bit backwards?
Surely it should work similarly to a volume rocker in the sense that when the slider is up it should be in loud mode. Middle should be vibrate. Bottom should be silent. Instead of bottom being loud. Middle being vibrate. Top being silent.
I know that when i receive my silk white edition....if their is an option to remap the alert slider, I will be doing it.
There was a similar app/mod for oneplus 5, check in that forum, i think it was with tasker and root
Think of this like that :
The alert slider control sound. So either you put sound away : away from you the alert slider is. Either you want the get back sound, or keep sound :alert slider placed near you.
