Hi,
I have an One X with software number 1.29.401.7. If I install an app (it is not reproducible with data like mp3, pictures or movies) into the phone storage and start the app, my One X has problems with the phone storage.
After reboot or shut down of my phone I lost 1 GB of storage everytime I do this. I can do this until the storage is completely full. If I move the app back to internal storage and erase phone storage I have no problems with reboot or shut down.
I also had tried a factory reset, but the problem came back with the first app in phone storage.
I have tried it with differt apps, like angry birds.
Did anyone know the problem. Can anyone reproduce it?
HTC don't know this error and I shoult let it repair because it coult be a hardware error. If it is an software problem with the newest version, I will wait for the next update befor I will send it to HTC.
Excuse of my english
with kind regards,
Marc

I have a very wierd problem with my storage card.
The last I recall. I was deleting a picture from the HTC album.
The next thing was all data in the storage card is missing.
The folders were all missing except for the DCIM folder.
On checking the disc space. It seems the files were all still there.
I even unhide all files however still not visible.
Anyone any idea wat to do?
Could it be the storage card is damage? Anyway to retrieve my files?
As far as I know, there is some programs, which restore files on on storage card. I had data lost about 3 months ago. To the best of my memory, I used Pocket Mechanic. Also you may try connect your device as USB-flash and try to restore data using programs for recover files from flash drives.
Good luck =)

hi,
i have my cruise for 1 year now, and i also had encountered storage card data loss 2 times this month. with 2 different SDHC cards, 4Go and 8Go.
never happened before, i can't understand why now. (ROM M-AMINE).
a friend of mine who's got his cruise with genuine rom from htc had the same probleme last month.
when this happens, the only folder remaining in the card is "inbox.000xx" that's all. the thing is some hidden data still using space when you check on a laptop.
i could recover most of the pictures with a dedicated software.
i can't trust this phone anymore, so i will change soon.
cheers.
data loss and phone crashes due to SPB software
I've had similar problems with folders disappearing randomly and file corruption on the SD card. I'm guessing that the file system on the SD card gets corrupted due to the crashes.
I've nailed down the issue to Spb Wireless Monitor, since uninstalling this software my phone is a lot more stable and no data loss from the sdhc memory card. May want to give this a try.
This question has been asked a few dozen times, and the answer keeps coming back to the HTC encryption and how bad it is. TURN IT OFF it can not be trusted and it is on by default. Its not even worth explaining why it is so bad and the causes behind it.. just disabled it and forgetaboutit!
Hi,newbie question guys, how do i turn off the htc encription?
Start->settings->encryption
Obviously, my phone had never this encryption on...
If you have explaination other than the dozen you're talking about, i'm really interrested.
ciao
Thx silverpal
I'm having the same problem. Just turned off and will see. I hope that's it. Already bought new microSD...., nevermind.
I turn off encription and the problem continued, actually figured out that can't be turned off...
Hi!
I need help, becase this problem is really freaking me out! My phone (Samsung Omnia) keeps telling me that it's running low on memory (not on the 8GB storage, but on the Main Memory). When I go to the Hard Reset option in the Settings, I actually see, that he truly is running low on storage (there is only 0.5 MB of free space). BUT that just CAN'T BE REAL! Because everything I install, everything I anyhow put on my phone (music, pictures, videos, apps, and stuff), I put it on the "My Storage" (that means the 8GB storage, not the so called "Main Memory", which has only 90MB).
So please tell me how to solve this problem .. it really sucks if there's a window popping up, telling me I'm running short on space, every minute.
And do you think it's possible I somehow got this storage-short_going-problem from a PC? Because my friend has the same problem on his PC ... and I've connected my phone a few times to his computer..
Thanks for the help
I kept getting that message for a while when I installed the YouTube video software, no matter where i installed it(Main Mem, My Storage or my card) I eventually had to do a hard reset and haven't had that problem since.
Hello people.
What's my problem:
I own a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini St15i and today when i plugged it in my USB it said there was a new software update. I have accepted it and it passed without any problems. BUT after i turned my phone on and my friend sent me a SMS msg it wasnt stored on my messages anymore, there is just last message before u updated my phone. I checked if i have memory, coz i thought i was out of it, but there was 98 MB left on phone memory still. Then i asked my brother to send me SMS to check if it is working with him, but still it was same problem, message wasn't stored -_-
I triend turning off my phone, then turn on, removing battery, but nothing sloved that bug, and that happend just after i updated it, so it's some software bug. My brother has same phone as me but he didnt have any problems after update tho, and he got his update 15 days ago, and i got it today, i dunno why i had to wait that much for my update. Anyway i plugged USB on my phone and went in Sony Ericsson PC Companion and click "Repair" software. It said all contacts, msgs, and some more things will be "overwriten", then i went in settings to move all my applications to SD card coz i thought i could will still have them on my phone after Repair, coz it's memory card, not phone memory.
After it "repaired" the software i lost EVERYTHING, ALL applications even after i moved them to my SD card, and now when i browse my memory card i dont see where that applications are, i checked all folders but there are none of them! And what's weird it says that i have only 140 MB free on my card, even if it is 2 GB of total memory, and when i select all files on it it says total used space is 750 MB, so where is the rest of the space (it should be: 2 GB - 750 MB = around 1,25 GB, but it says i only have 140 MB free -_-)? I guess it is in backuped apps but i cant find them, anywhere. I thought they will still be there after repair coz it said only files from phone memory will be "overwriten"
SMS is working like it should now tho.
Any help please? I will destroy it, im totaly mad now coz i guess i have to install all applications again.
My phone isnt rooted btw.
Kind regards!
This phone has a hardware problem with SD cards. I tried to go to the store.
You can try going to the store and getting it replaced, or see if they have any solutions.
Although I don't have the same phone as you, whenever I flash a new rom/update, I take out my external SD card ... just incase, and if I have the time, I'll even throw a backup on my computer ... just incase.
Better safe that sorry.
Hope that helps.
Hi, and sorry my english!
I got my new mi4i phone and I have some problem.
I get force close messages (media process) the phone lagging and I can't copy anything to the internal storage, it shows me 0 Mb free space. I try to make factory reset and it look like everythings ok. I have 26GB free space (32GB version) and very fast system. But after few minutes the space is less and less. It look like something writting to the storage and some minutes later is full.
I update to 7.0.3 but I have same problems. If I connect to the laptop I don't see the storage. (I try on Linux and windows.)
Does anyone from you know any solution?
just got mine but dont have your problem.
think you need to pay the seller a visit...
I tried to install a rom from fastboot but I get the same errors.. When I see the storage I get 26GB files on the internal storage/ramdump/. The file names are: ramdump_modem_"date"
If I delete this file after 20 minutes the system is recreat it.
Defective as for replacement
yup - sounds defective to me...
Hi
Can't remember whether or not this has been asked and answered, but here goes...
Shield tablet
5.1.1
Non-root
For the past 2 months or so I've been plagued with random reboots ( up to 2-3 times a day)
I've tried to
wipe cache 2 times
delete a whole bunch of apps
Change power settings
I have NOT YET tried to do a full wipe, due to the fact that I've got waaaay to many apps that don't sync data with google so it would be a major hassle to fix settings, copy data out and so on.... But am looking at backup solutions that include DATA ( helium)
I haven't been able to ascertain pattern.
Any suggestions on what I can do , or for that mater any way to find out why the hell it restarts.
Thanks in advance!
D
That's strange. So just reboots, no shutdowns?
I can only assume, maybe a rogue app with reboot access.
Just reboots
And It seems totally random.... everywhere from 4 times a day to non... Load dosen't seem to matter . From netflix and web to plain and simple spotify. It's driving me up one wall and down the other... can't figure it out, and really don't want to factory reset
Any form for event viewer or something that I can take a look at?
Worst part is I use it to take work notes and on a few occasions it's died (rebooted) on me in the middle of notetaking... starting to really mess with things ... and yes I know, do a factory reset, and I will if I run out of options. But my fear is that after I reinstall all the apps I'm back to square one, and it all starts all over again.
Maybe hibernating all non stock apps with Greenify could solve the riddle; if it's indeed a software issue. Once the problem ceased, activate one app at a time till the reboot bug reoccurs..
Hi
Sry for the slow reply
Been testing the Greenify for about 2 days and the same is still happening. I've more or less put all non stuck apps into hibernating list.. and run it every so often, as well as activated the hibernate at screen off. And it still happens... wish there was an event log or something that could point me in the right direction.
That's too bad. What if it is malware? I'd say make a factory reset. Stay clear of non stock apps and watch and see. If it still reboots, it must be a hardware issue. You still have warranty, aye?
Nope warranty is out, I think. I mean 2 year but got it back in 2014 at some point.
A damn it, was hoping to id the damn offending app and fix it without having to factory reset....
No one knows of any event / log feature in android ( akin to event viewer in windows)...??
I just read on Amazon that someone had the same issue inconsistent reboots and the culprit was a micro SD card.
Do you have on inside your Shield?
I had this problem like 3 months ago. When tablet was charging the led indicator was blinking on green an orange. The problem was that the cable from battery was connected bad, I just had to connect it with solder. (My tablet is replaced )

Yeah, I do have an NTFS formated sd card installed...
Do you know of any easy way to check...or even better fix it?
Replace the SD card with another one or don't use one for now. You can still backup via USB or WiFi.
It may be a incompatible issue or a damaged SD card.
Backup via usb? As in copy paste the content of the SD card?
I have a lot of apps on the SD card, and not enough space on local storage to move back to tablet ....
Was hoping for some software based diagnostic or test to check the sdcard
Yes, you can copy n paste. Or save new data on a new SD card etc.
I presume there are Android SD card checker apps. But I think that won't help if it's an incompatible issue. Anyway, unmounting the current SD card won't erase its data. It's the sour apple you've to try.
Just somehow experienced the same.
Android 7.0 - no root no anything.
It's weird. Now it rebooted with 1% and then died. Before it just rebooted around 40%. Anyone found a solution?
Thanks
