I have it working already. It took a liitle work to get it to work properly. I called ATT to provision the VVM. They told me about the update, but didn't give me a date. I didn't feel like waiting. You can see the AT&T visual voicemail.apk in the android market on your PC. However, if you don't have a device that uses this file you cannot download it. There is a way to trick the Play store to download files. I installed the 1.9.6 revision and it works great.
I was using google voice, but this did not work properly on the One X. There were no notifications when I received a voicemail.

I just installed Gleason's from the Vivid forum, set up my VVM, then updated it via the pop up that said that the VVM had an update, go through that process, you will be interrupted with a screen that says that vmm is not signed...ect, gives you the option to uninstall or just leave it, select uninstall, then go thru the prompts, installed fine on my One X.

No I'm thinking the way the phone is now it's locked down. Not that the OTA update would unlock your phone, but maybe the OTA update would allow you to go on HTC Dev and unlock if you wanted to???? Don't know what the OTA update will bring? I would think more than just visual v/m though. It makes sense to...as far as timing with return policies. Who knows... Does anyone know if the Vivid had a OTA update before you were able to unlock or did it just show up on HTC dev?

no. the vivid did not have an OTA before the unlock
an OTA or any kind of update is NOT REQUIRED for HTCDev to unlock the phone.
There is NOTHING that needs to be done except for HTCDEV to allow the unlock to happen. its a freakin switch, like a light, that they can turn on to allow the unlock, but AT&T is holding their finger and wont let them hit it...

EDIT: You can also just flash THIS by attn1 to accomplish the same goal.
The update for 1.84 for the Inspire 4G was released on 4-29-2011 as an OTA update. It WILL NOT RUN on rooted ROMs.
Things I have personally observed about this ROM:
Quick. Seems to respond very well to input, no real hesitations. I won't tell you quadrant scores because they are useless.
GPS WORKS! Exceptionally well. 3-6 FOOT accuracy. The highest TTL I have seen is 17s.
Fast. HSUPA is working well, 1.3mbps up. I hit 6mbps down on a regular basis with this ROM. YMMV, of course. But it works great here in North Texas.
Third party non market Apps install. Yes, you read that right. There is no selector to turn it on or off, though. They work for me. YMMV.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE, COMPUTER, PLACE OF RESIDENCE, OR PETS.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prerequisites:
S-Off HTC Inspire 4G with microSD card inserted (HOW TO thanks to attn1)
RUU to stock 2.2.1 v1.80 (Located here thanks to cmstlist)
Gingerbreak v1.2 (From Chainfire) loaded on your SD Card
The OTA update note: place in /sdcard/download. This method is untested.
Sideload Wonder Machine if install of Gingerbreak does not work.
A valid Wi-Fi connection
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow these steps to achieve a rooted 2.2.1 v1.84 stock ROM
1. RUU your phone to stock following instructions provided in the above thread using the pd98img.zip method, NOT THE .EXE!
2. Boot phone, don't bother adding any accounts or setting anything but a wifi connection up.
3. Go to Settings, choose AT&T Software Update, then choose HTC Wi-Fi Software Update.
4. Download and install
5. Boot phone into updated stock ROM.
6. Install Gingerbreak v1.2 and run it. It will crash HTC Sense launcher, force close it, then you will see an error saying it could not reboot phone. Reboot manually using power button. If it gives you a weird error on boot such as a picture of a phone and a red mark, pull the battery then reboot.
7. ROOT! Yes, you now have root. Verify superuser.apk is in your app drawer, then I strongly recommend installing busybox from the market.
8. Install ROM Manager from the market and flash ClockworkMod Recovery. I have had no issues with 3.0.2.6.
That's it, done! I have had a couple small FC's from SU when first granting permissions to an app, to fix it open the actual superuser app then go back to the offending program. Once granted permissions this should not occur anymore.
I hope this helps!
If I missed anyone in the thanks above it was purely unintentional. PM me and I will correct the oversight.

a little "birdie" told me that at&t is rolling this out to 10K users a day for the first three days, then evaluating the results and - assuming all goes well - will bump up to 25K-50K users on 5/2, and then 50K users a day until done beginning 5/3 or 5/4. don't know for sure, though, if this is why you're having to wait for 1 more day.

If you downloaded the update prior going back to stock Un-rooted, then you need to either format you SD card or use another one. When I went back to stock, the update didn't show up for me, but as soon as I changed my SD card, the OTA came right up after I prompted for an update.

I wouldn't much worry about updating to this if your phone is rooted. Soon enough someone will have a rooted and CWR Flashable version of this. With so many good roms and Devs here I assume it wont be long.

I think the build prop edit will still work on any rom without the new hboot. Which is anything not the OTA or RUU. I would verify that but I think that's correct.
How do I know if it is removed?
One way is to go to settings and see if there is an App Associations menu item. Another is to email yourself a YouTube link, And when you click the link when you receive the email, if it asks you which application you'd like to use, then great success.

Removing the apk just means you can't change the app associations. It doesn't fix the inherent issue, which is that we want a menu to pop up and give us options for what to do when we touch a link.
Previous to 2.20, all the AT&T base roms could be fixed by adding one line to build.prop and changing one other. This doesn't work any longer.
Well,
The link that I posted on the previous page solved that for me.
I have an apps associations on Settings, and when I click on a link on gmail it asks me if I want to open it with Chrome or the stock browser.
The thing is there are 2 entries in the build.prop for 'ro.da1.enable=true'
one at the top and another one on the bottom of the file.
I tried the method you just mentioned and it still doesn't work.

Try finding the file on the internal SD and deleting it, then try to update again. Keep in mind that you can only check for updates once a day, so move the date on the phone ahead a day or 2 in order to check again.
Also, if you are not already aware, be warned that installing the latest 2.20 AT&T firmware plugs the root exploit, and therefore will render you unable to root, unlock the bootloader, and installing custom ROMs and other flashed mods (until a new root method is found). So if you have any interest in doing those things, don't update.
Is it possible to roll back my HTC One X evita to JB 4.0.4? I updated to JB 4.1.1 via RUU and have since unlocked the bootloader and s-off. My work email is on Exchange and when I enable encryption, the One X can't finish and then locks. Tried many times and downloaded many variation of 4.1.1 and even tried 4.1.2 custom ROMs. They ALL do the same thing. However, with stock 4.0.4, this worked just fine. I'd appreciate any help with getting me roll back to 4.0.4.
Thanks!!!
Yeah just run an old ruu.
Though, if your talking about encrypting your device, it won't work.

Thanks!! Are you saying to download the official AT&T RUU and reinstall??
Not sure what you mean by "After unlock encryption breaks"?? Can you provide more details??
I do know that when i first got the phone, with 4.0.4 I was able to sync with company Exchange server which required encryption to be enabled and it worked fine and I was getting all emails...
Thank You!

OK. I wasn't sure if you meant that or encrypting the device. Yeah just download and run the older ruu to go back to 4.04 but I believe viper with exchange mail mod should work as well. I think the exchange mail mod might be downloadable by itself in the mods section of the resource compilation thread stickied in the android dev section.

Oh, interesting. Are you referring to the ViperXL ROM? You think with this I can get around the encryption problem that I've been experiencing?? If at all possible, I would obviously like to stick with more recent JB builds.
Thank you for your assistance on this! I spent the entire weekend trying ROMs and searching for workarounds and am finally about to give up...
