Is it just me or battery performance on this phone is much better than previous HTC phones??
I had a mytouch 4g slide and even with a mugen battery it had half the life this can give me through the day.
It's incredible.

I agree. I'm also coming from the slide and this seems to be much better on battery.

Most indeed it is the best out of all HTC phone. Myself is coming phone the mytouch4g. And I had to carry my charger with me. Right now I been unchanged for almost 10 hours and I'm at 36%. I'm been doing some heavy usage. I'm talking about talking a lot, texting, email, listen to music, watching family, and web surfing. I'm on stock rom that I rooted and removed deboatload myself. with sufbs.
---------- Post added at 04:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:47 PM ----------
If I'm not doing heavy usage I'm normally go home after 10 hours with more 50%
Off topic.
What happens at the battery's end of life, how easy or hard will it be to replace and how much will it be likely to cost.
Its my only concern, i am really considering this phone but I think its important to know especially as upgrades don't come to often.
Any thoughts?

I imagine if it gives you issues under the first year it'll be covered under warranty. After that who knows. But iPhones hardly have any problems so I imagine this shouldn't either.

I had moderate usage the last 10 hours with gps usage and still at 50%

Have had mobile phones of some type for the last 18 years and never had a battery go bad
I can't see the battery as a deal breaker and in 18-24 months most of us will have another phone

Same here...I removed bloatware, turned off bluetooth, turned off vibrate feedback for keyboardand regularly close out apps that are not in use..using the multitask by swiping the app up off the screen...battery normally goes all day and this is with playing games and regularly checking this site.
Pretty damn good...

so this wonderful phone we all have is a little... Buggy... I was one of those lucky people who wasn't having any issues with their phones now all of a sudden it gets a little laggy and the screen well shut off and not come back on (sometimes if I hit the power button repeatedly it will come back)... It kinda upsets me because I thought I had a good one... It was running fine after root, and after NVflash... It was after I started different kernels and roms that I had issues... Now I am running rooted stock with no other add ons and I am still having issues...
Question time.
Sounds like I am having the same issues as a lot of other people. True?
Should I get a replacement (sounds like a lot of the replacements are duds too) or just wait to see what the update brings?
I love this phone... I don't need perfect, just stable...

Check my thread here, will give you an idea of how widespread the problems are: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107660
Same exact thing happened to me. One minute it was a perfect little baby, and next thing you know the booger starts acting up.
I was happy in the beginning when it gave me an awesome experience and was wondering why people are complaining about such an awesome device, then it struck me out of nowhere and began rebooting like crazy.
I want to ride this beast to the bitter end... I am hoping that the end is MUCH further down the road... so as far as we know, the "update" will be fixing most o these issues... i guess I am going to hold off on the replacement... seems like those have the same issues too...
And now the battery is heating up like crazy... I don't like this! Why it's this happening?

That happened on my old G2x, the new one doesn't heat up abnormally, but it does have more light leakage that is obviously noticeable. Gonna get another one when they receive the old one.

Ill leave my WiFi off all day tomorrow, then post a screenshot of my battery statistics (not the ones provided by Android) but more accurate ones from a app called "Battery Monitor" that gives a break down of use and what you had enabled. I don't want you to think I'm a liar or anything. I guess you could call me lucky but I have had nothing but good experiences so far. I haven't had any reboots, no lag, no freezing and great battery life. Probably better battery life than any other Android device Iv'e ever used. I take my phone off the charger at 7AM and don't return it until 9PM. Throughout the day I am making phone calls, sending texts, surfing the web, reading news from 4 different apps and playing some games. I don't know why anyone would lie about there battery life but maybe some people who say they only get 5 hours of battery life are just plain lying? See what I did there?
But does anyone else have a battery that is heating up for no reason? Should I look into a new battery or possibly a new phone?

Nah, the only time my battery heats up is when I am charging the phone and at the same time playing a graphically intensive game. Even then it doesn't heat up to the point of being uncomfortable.

Yeah I see..but I'm not lying. I simply cannot believe that people actually get good battery life because I've had more than one phone and it exhibits the battery characteristics as the last ones. I wish I could experience what some people say, but it simply does not happen unless I'm on wifi. If only the phone didn't eat percents while screen off...

It also depends on how much your 4G signal fluctuates so it depends on your area. If your constantly going from edge to 4G then that is using up more battery than me if I am always getting a good 4G signal. The more work your radio has to do the more battery it will use. The phone is going to eat up percentages when the display is off but if it's eating up "Display" percentage then I would say you have a problem. If your device is in standby most ofthe day then "Cell Standby" will be at the top on the percentage list. It's doing what it's supposed to do. If there was something wrong, then display would be at the top of the list. Next time you take your phone off of the charger, play a game for 20 minutes right away then make a 10 minute phone call. At this point you should see "Display" and "Voice Calls" at the top and "Cell Standby" the bottom. If not then something is wrong. I know there are many people with bad battery's and ones who have had problems with multiple units. I am just not one of them.

first thing first, uninstall any social networking app, because they sync constantly and will run your battery down, if you have live wallpaper enabled, turn it off, keep gps off, and wifi if not in use, turn 4g off if your not actively using it , remove all unnecessary widgets , download an app called setcpu and create some profiles, if not of that works, try a different kernel
I'm on a stock rooted 2.3.5 using Netarchy Kernel. I undervolted using SetCPU and have only one profile. When the screen is off it downclocks to 200mhz. I do have my gps always on. The only thing I sync though is my GMAIL and weather every 4 hours. At the end of the day my phone says it has been unplugged for 17 hours with around 30 percent of the battery remaining.
I just carry a second battery. I want to be able to use the hell out of my phone and still have battery left over, so I just have two. I can have everything sync, brightness up, use GPS, etc

i am a complete ant total noob to this community however, i ran shabbypenguins battery mod/tweak for the NS4G and it seems to be giving me more life out of my battery. from what i understand this started as a single mod and has grown over time to a collection of scripts that are meant to improve battery with a long list of features that work in the background. you need a custom kernel like net's but it's really easy to run. it is in the NS4G development thread.

yeah it does it by applying cpu profiles that slow down the processor depending on the battery level. I'd rather have shorter battery life and more performance, so I just have a second battery. It's an OEM model that I got off eBay for about $10.

Some of these ROMs are awesome on battery life. I got great battery life with Open Soju. I then switched to kushdeck with the matrix kernel and the battery life was stupendous. even with ICS, is determining how much battery life is left.
I could keep a better tab on my battery life with my watch. It's the worst when it's full and it's empty. It'll be at 100% for 2 hours and 20 minutes later it's at 89%. At the end, when you are at 10%, it's over, you might have 5 mins lefts or 60...who the hell knows.

I keep my phone very barebones. I use two widgets and I have 20 apps.
When I'm down to 10%, I can have everything off and it will still drop down to below 5% within the half hour.
I've come to the conclusion that Android just sucks at this to ignore the percentages and to keep it as charged up as possible.

I used to have this issue with Android with past phones like the Epic 4G and the Nexus S 4G. I could be at 70% and reboot the phone and all of a sudden it's now at 52%. I could reboot phone 5 times and get 5 different values. It was all so tiring.
Now i've since moved on to the Epic Touch running Blazer ROM and since i've been on this combo, i've not noticed this phenomenon anymore. The battery guage is spot on. I could reboot a billion times and the accuracy doesn't deviate one bit. Could it be that the dev of this ROM has some super mojo/juju that just works? (I hope so).
Alpha Review ROM is not completed, all guys using review HTC Rom have same problems. Keep remembering that it is still a review ROM

Stock battery moderate use, check email, played some games, browsed web xda, texted etc. I just recall in the past my battery would die on 4g super quick after a few hours even when barely using it. So its a fantastic improvement.

That is certainly better than what I can report running Thundershed 1.2. For me, it is down to 40 - 50% in 24 hours (I charge it once per day) , mostly on 3G and on Rezound battery with moderate use. What about anyone running sense roms?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I've seen similar results to the OP on the stock rom. I have the Rezound battery as well, but after the last couple official updates, battery life seemed much improved, even with the stock battery. I forgot to post screenshots, but at one point I was at over 24 hours w/o charging and like 45% battery life left (with minimal usage and constant 4G).

Wow that is pretty cool. I can not really get a good assessment of my phone battery life. It is a 30-45 minute commute to work so my phone is in the cradle running 4G and Google Music. Then at work it is trying to ping services hard because of a secured area. So generally I leave work and it is struggling on 40% after sitting in a cubby for 12 hours. And my phone is all stock baby.
It really depends on where you are as well. When I am outdoors close to a cell tower with excellent signal strength, I can go a whole day and barely move the battery meter. However if I travel or am inside with a poor/decent signal, the battery dies much faster.
I also get really good battery life on my thunderbolt. Heavy usage, music, games, browsing on some wifi but mostly 3g (no 4g in my area yet), and I get about 15 to 17 hours on a single charge. Definitely lasts all day for me.

I think that the battery life is very nice. I can get between 3-4 hours of screen time and 1-2 hours of talking in the cellphone.
I put the brightness of the screen to 30% in the house , and 50% outdoor.
But it's really depends of what you are doing.

Techrader has a good review on the battery and their test results. They got 6.5 hours of using it at some max settings.
For example, one day, we took it off charge at 9am, browsed the net, sent a few tweets/emails and made about 40 minutes worth of calls. At 1pm, we fired up the FM Radio and Runkeeper Pro and went for a 90 minute run with the GPS on that whole time.
At 3pm, we were in the car with the HTC One S connected to the stereo via Bluetooth streaming music (and live radio thanks to the Car app which we'll mention in the next section) and using Google Maps Navigation for about 90 minutes again until the battery conked out at just after 4:30pm. Bear in mind, the screen was on for that whole 90 min period too!

I got mine on Monday and I firstly noticed that the battery seemed to be draining fairly quickly. I mean, 14 minutes in and it's at 83%. I decided to turn off all of the 'Location' settings and so far it seems to be going good, however I don't get any weather updates (and I like seeing the weather animations). I've also kept my brightness to just below 50%. I still haven't used it consistently for a whole day, so I don't know how it will go.
