SuperOSR and DW Contacts issue - HTC ChaCha

Sorry for opening another thread, but now it seems i figured out the behaviour that maxes problems:
For example if you install DW Contacts as dialer (since you need a dialer with smart dial otherwise you won't notice):
1. Press the green button so that "DW Telephone" will open
2. if not selected as standard, select the most left icon for the caller
So and now for example I want to search for some guy called "Holzer" in my phonebook.
3. start typing "HOLZ" and it will suggest "Holzer"
4. but if you type "e" now, nothing will be selected anymore.
So why does this happen?
Answer: All keys with numbers will be treated like on a T9-Keyboard. If you press E it will be an A, B or C - but not an E!
So, how can we fix this?
I did not have this behaviour on the standard dialer of the standard ROM, but I did not try DW Contacts there. Can anyone try?
BTW: The problem is other way round if I add a new contact and type into the field for the phone number. J will be a number instead of a "+". Could anyone try if this is the same with the standard ROM?
Video of the screen where to try this will be on https://vimeo.com/41715841 shortly.

i am using super OSR and DW contacts, i dont have this issue. The problem may be with your keyboard mapping.
And my friend, this is not the right thread to post questions, this is development thread and i appreciate if you can post the questions to general thread

What keypad patch did you install?

Sorry I thought it's a bug of SuperOSR.
But didn't have any special keyboard patch installed since it worked like expected when I'm not in any dialer app (od contact list). So you think that patch might fix this?

I thought it could be an issue with the keyboard patch.

Hmm... Ok then the keyboard patch might not solve this problem.
I wonder why other people don't have this problem - or did they just not notice? If you use the standard dialer that comes with SuperOSR you won't notice because it does not have a smart dial function that is doing numbers and letters at the same time.
So you have to install a 3rd party dialer app to notice that problem. Could any one else try with DW Contacts or Dialer One please?
Could anyone with stock ROM try DW Contacts and see how it works there?

And some other issue:
Try Download C64-Emulator "Frodo" and Type the Zero. It does not work while all other keys worked but it worked with the standard rom. Strange.
I did flash both chacha-keypad-ger-signed.zip and chacha-keypad-stent-signed.zip now, but there are the same problems. It doesn't seem to have any effect - even when I install the norwegian keyboard nothing happens.

Led, SMS and Input problems

Hello everyone! This is my first post here!
Ive searched for this issue but I didnt find any similar problem, so Im posting here.
Imagine that i send a sms to someone. Is it normal that after sending the sms my green led changes it yellow?
Anyway, the problem is that after i send a sms to someone, it takes too long to receive a sms. However, this same problem doesnt seem to happen if i dont send a sms - it seems that there is a relation between the yellow led and the time it takes to receive a sms (I dont know if I made myself clear...).
The second and also troublesome problem is related to the input methods. My touch and numeric keyboards dont type letters; instead, they insert the symbols each key corresponds to (numbers or symbols)... this is what happens if u touch for a certain ammount of time. But, for me, this happens with the most slight touch...
Help me please

Did you installed any other keyboard to polaris? I've installed pcm keyboard and i had the exactly same problem :S Since i uninstalled it, the problem gone
Yes, I installed PCm keyboard. However, i uninstalled it and it didnt solve my problem But i think thats the main cause.... maybe i need to delete some stuff of the pcm in the reg?
EDIT: hey! it actually did solve! i had to soft reset hehe
Now, for the other problem, can any1 help me?
Hmm... I actually found out that the yellow led is activated when I send the sms and inactivates when i receive a sms and there is no delay in receiving the sms.
Does anyone know why this happens?»

Issue with Keyboard

Hi all, been lurking for a while but thought I would finally post up.
Having an issue with my Nexus S on stock ROM v2.3.3. It isn't the same issues with the keyboard disappearing etc but it is an issue with the keyboard not inputting text when I type.
If I am typing a SMS reply to someone on my phone and I pause for a few seconds (to talk to someone for example) then I try to continue typing, the keyboard acts like its typing but does not actually type anything else into the message. The only fix I have managed to discover is exit the SMS so that a draft gets saved then once I go back into the message it works again.
Don't know if that is a clear enough description but if anyone else has any suggestions or even a fix for it then it would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Yeah I have that too sometimes. What also happens to me about every week is, that the smiley sections' and the (particularly important for me since I'm from Austria and using the German keyboard ü-ö-ä) special buttons and symbols' pop up extension (hard to describe, but I mean the thing that pops up when you put your finger on the expandable tile for like 2 second and which let's you select the unusual symbols from a list) simply will not pop up. So it would make it impossible for me to choose from the pre-created smileys etc.
I have found out that changing your input method to another keyboard (I use SwiftKey in these cases) and then changing it back Android keyboard make the problems disappear. But they seem to come back regularly and I haven't found out what causes them to appear...
Any help?

Recommended Dialer App

Can anyone tell me a recommended Dialer that works fine with the Chacha keyboard?
I use the SuperOSR rom and the dialer coming with that ROM is really very awkward. First of al it does not do Smart Dialing, so I either have to search in the names or in the numbers - but not in both at the same time.
I tried other dialers but most of them are not made for keyboard phones. So which dialer to use and which options to choose? All in all the stock ROM dialer was not so bad.
Also unlike the chacha stock ROM when i start typing with 0/Sym I get the % but on the main screen it would be more useful if the phone just opens a dialer and starts dialing.
DW contacts and phone.... it has smart dialing and with some setting changes you can disable on screen dialer too.

This is the standard Android behaviour. What happens on HTC Sense ROMs is something that HTC modified for their phones/applications.
But I can see this behaviour on SuperOSR on my side:
Start typing a number.
A "Dial number" appears below.
It also works with names.
As for the wrong key mappings, check the SuperOSR/CM keymappings thread.

But it is hard to find the correct options. When typing "ROM" for some reason DW will display search results with E,O,M and D but no R. Why??

No really here.
When I start typing on the home screen I get into the Google Search wich will display letters only (but search in the contacts).
When I start typing with a zero I'll get the symbols of the symbol screen. Since all Numbers you start from a cell phone start with a zero it would also be finde if you end up in a Dial-Window then.

Give it a shot with Fn+0. See if that helps. That should open up Google Search but at the same time show a "Dial xxxx" beneath it." like in the screenshot attached.

Thanks I now noticed the difference:
You have to press the FN-Key to get that option. But this requires that you have to use your phone with two hands which is not very handy in most situations.
So I'l like to type without the FN-Key, so e.g. if I type "FR" the phone should suggest to either call "Franz" or Dial "63" for example.
Also the sym-key could jump into a dialer window from the homescreen since it does not make sense to enter a "%" there.

Issue with dialing phone numbers from outside the stock dialer

Ok guys, I am pretty spent in terms of ideas here, I hope somebody can help. I'm not sure if this is a cyanogen thing or a Oneplus thing but here goes:
So I just got the Oneplus One and it's pretty damn nice, save for the twitchy Wi-Fi and BT, but they work fine most of the time so I'm fine with that.
However I am having a really strange issue. I have been using ExDialer on my old Galaxy Nexus because its stock dialer was crap. At this point I am married to exDialer. I've been using it for so long and it is so good and don't feel comfortable using anything else.
Problem is that the Oneplus never asks me about changing the default dialer after I install it. And once I try to call a number from it, it jumps to the stock dialer, with the phone number typed in instead of ringing the contact directly. And apparently there are no defaults. Neither the stock dialer nor the ExDialer are set as default, according to their app info.
So far easy, peasy, right? I downloaded a 3rd party app and forced ExDialer to be come default. And no joy. Still the same thing. When I try to call a number, it goes to the stock dialer and I have to click the dial button there as well in order to call.
I tried disabling the stock dialer entirely and when I try to make a call from EX, it apparently still wants to do the same thing as before and tells me the dialer has stopped working and to go ** myself.
And apparently it's not just ExDialer. I get the same issue when I try to call a number from Google Now, by voice command or by typing, as well as the Google voice dialer app - again, it does its thing says "calling X"" and then goes to the stock dialer where I am required to press the call button again. This one is pretty annoying too because it pretty much precludes me from being able to dial numbers by voice commands from my BT headset. Each time, I have to get the phone out of my pocket and press "call" on the stock dialer to finish the dialing.
I never got any of those issues with the Galaxy Nexus... both ExDialer and Google Now dial numbers directly and don't do this. So any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
EDIT: Probably should have mentioned that this is Cyanogen 11.0. I am holding off on upgradingt to Lollipop for the time being. So this is the stock Android dialer in Kitkat that we are talking about.
The issue persists after updating to CM12.1 . Does anyone have any ideas?
I should mention that after my initial post I found out that if I dial numbers with +359 (I am in Bulgaria) the issue doesn't happen and they are dialed directly, however if I try to dial the same numbers, starting with 0, which should be the normal way to do it, when dialing numbers in my own country, it always happens. If I use 0 the stock dialer pops up and I have to press "call" again and the calls go out. And if I use +country code, instead of 0, they are dialed directly from EXdialer or GoogleNow as they should be.

Gboard - voice to text mic missing in messages

Hi,
Just got my unlocked Pixel 4a today. No custom roms or anything. Android 11. Build RQ1A.201205.008.
I'm a bit of a minimalist, and I went through the keyboard settings for messages (it had this little emoji bar thing that also did the predictive words I wanted to get rid of). Also in that bar was the microphone for voice to txt. When I shut off those unneeded options and turned the dedicated numerical row on, the microphone disappeared. I've tried resetting the options to the best of my memory, but it still isn't back to where it was, and the microphone is still gone.
There is another microphone in the preview box, but that is a tap-and-hold-to-send-a-recording microphone. Not what I'm looking for. That works.
I checked permissions, Gboard has permissions. I checked the keyboard settings, voice to text is enabled. Anyone know the 'magic combination' of options to get this back? I use it frequently!! I'd hate to have to reset-to-factory just to restore this one feature.
Thanks!
I finally found it after much headaches. It seems the voice to text microphone is part of the "suggestion strip" that is under "Text Correction". No idea why this isn't integrated into the keyboard as it's own icon as it's been in earlier versions of Android.
If anyone has any recommendations on how I can potentially make that integration and get rid of the suggestion strip, please let me know.
I tried to reproduce the missing voice2text mic that you reported and failed.
I went to Gboard settings > text correction then:
Disabled show suggestion strip
Disabled next-word suggestions
Disabled emoji suggestions
Disabled sticker suggestions
Going back to the keyboard, the suggestion strip/stickers/GIF/clipboard/settings and the mic were all gone.
I re-enabled all the above and the mic reappeared, along with the other stuff.
One thing you could try short of factory reset is to go to the App Info for the Gboard, force stop, and clear the cache. Relaunch the keyboard to see if it brought the mic back.
---
Looks like you resolved it. I think this design change was made a few cycles ago and am not aware of any way to re-integrate it. You could try SwiftKey to see if that has the feature you want.
I think installing a different keyboard can be helpful here. Have you tried to do it? To be honest, it was one of the most significant problems that made me change a model of my phone. I did have a Samsung Note, and the problem with the Gboard was repeating very often. I have been browsing different sites to find a solution, but was never successful in it. One day, one of my sisters visited me and took my phone while I was in the kitchen. She fixed the problem instantly, would you believe it? I came to the room and was surprised after she showed me it. She said she visited https://techplugged.com/5-best-solutions-to-fix-the-gboard-not-working-error/ and followed all the instructions given there. I have forgotten about the problems with Gboard for a long time, but there were other reasons for me to change my phone to the latest iPhone.
