Right, but once we get CWM on our device, we can flash whatever we want, including the partitions (boot, system, maybe radio, etc) from this ROM. Or at the very least, merge its potential bug fixes with our devices.

Ah, I always forget about S-OFF. Although, with S-OFF, can we not just "fastboot flash radio radio.img?" That's what I've been doing with the DHD.

I dont think 2.3x is anything special. This is just the 4.1 update for Vodafone Germany.
Just to throw it out there, Vodafone France and Orange UK are supposed to be on 2.34 going by HTCDev.
This also means the One XL is perhaps alive and well(aka selling) in France and UK now, adding a few more large/key regions to the mix.
Baseband is barely a higher build than 2.29 was.

I've run multiple versions of CleanROM and also CM10, but anytime I install a Sense based JB ROM (I've tried Newt's, JellyBlam, and a few others), my phone gets stuck on the HTC boot splash, reboots, and enters recovery. I am on HBOOT 1.09 and Ive tried to fastboot flash the boot.img just to be sure, but it still doesn't work? I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, any clue what it is? Thanks in advance.

Maybe you have an init.d folder that is telling the JB ROM to overclock? Could check and delete that first. Otherwise you can double check the md5 of the ROM you're flashing to make sure its not corrupt. Aside from that it might be worthwhile to try a ROM like urdroid which allows you to flash the kernel during the installer.
Dunno man, your problem is a strange one.

Urdroid was another that i tried. It would get to the ROMs boot splash and lock there, but its the only one i recall that even got that far out of the 3 or so that i tried. where would that init.d folder be?
Either the directory of the /sdcard or /. I forget which as I have deleted it. But it should be a folder. Don't delete it if it's by itself.

Really sounds like you are not flashing the boot.img correctly.
Extract the boot.img from the ROM you want to use and install it with:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
You're not alone....

I've been experiencing the same problem on my HTC Sensation 4G for the past couple years since I've had it. I have 3 HTC Sensations in my family and I've been playing around with all 3 phones during the last year. On my sister and my mom's phones, I'm able to install any rom (Sense-based...ARHD, Elegencia; and AOSP/AOKP-based...CM10, Paranoid Android, etc); however, on my own phone, after dozens of installs, trying all types of different kernels and roms, I was only able to install AOSP/AOKP-based ones. I've been running Touchcream ICS rom for awhile, then Paranoid Android, and currently JB Samsation V5 on my HTC and I love it. I'm really not missing out on anything, but it's just weird Sense-based roms just wouldn't boot. After some researching on the forum and experimenting with others, I've deducted that the reason could be very well my own hardware. :victory:

Energy rom, CM10, and paradroid (whatever it called)
but they are not a good rom for me..
I am in the same situation as you, because of there are not many roms for this garbage phone..
I am trying to selling it and get a popular phone which are easier to flash custom roms.
PS: HTC always make stupid phones, no wonder the company is going bankrupt.
Its funny how I have no issues whatsoever with my hboot 1.14.
Easier to flash custom roms? I flash roms the same way on all my devices - in recovery. The only difference with the S is i have to spend 5sec on typing "fastboot flash boot boot.img" before first boot up. Yea, hard stuff that

Most wifi issues revolve around t-mobile phones I believe. It often relates to the 2.35 update. Others did not have these issues.
You can also solve via superCID and flash another RUU (that has a similar level of bootloader).
But yes, a bootloader downgrade will solve this, since then you can flash other wifi partitions (even the Jelly Bean ones).
Alternatively you can wait for the OTA upgrade to Jellybean.

Also, I saw you post in the boot animations thread. Did you get it to work? Which animation did you pick?

The ruu doesn't actually install. It would need to run that a few times to fully install it. Basically we are telling the phone we are going to RUU, which in HTC's stupidity, unlocks the emmc partitions to be writable. Then the RUU fails when it finds superCID. So we cancel out of the ruu status, but the emmc partitions are still unlocked, and we turn the security flash off with soffbin3. And ya, that's why it's called facepalm

I'm running hboot 1.14 and can confirm that I've flashed CM10.1 (and restored a nandroid including the boot partition) without needing to fastboot flash the boot.img.
Seems like those running 1.14 are pretty rare around these parts...or maybe just quiet.
Edit: Restore was to AOSPA 2.54 (JB 4.1.2).
