[Release] SuperOS Rom Customized Updated to V2 - HTC ChaCha

[UPDATED] V2 - Read new Changes Further Down :
Before I start I don't take ANY credit for making this rom, this rom is made by the SuperOS team, ALL credits go to them. I have changed nothing on the rom itself, other than made some nice customization on the UI and added in some nice useful apps.

Changes made to the rom :
Changed UI to ADW Launcher ( the default launcher was crap, and also only allowed you to use only 3 rows of the deskspace for icons )
Removed Dockbar, screen is small enough and dockbar space is wasted.
Limited the screens to 2, can add more via the ADW Launcher settings.
Added some usefull apps ( see list above )
Added the Evil Eye Wallpaper ( there is additional wallpapers available )
Added the Beautiful Clock/weather Widget on homescreen
Launcher Icon is on bottom right of homescreen to enter menu.
DX battery manager is installed to manage power consumption
Advanced Taskkiller is loaded to kill any open apps when needed.
All Installed apps have been moved to SD with App2SD pro
V2.0 Changes :
Added Rom Toolbox. Now user has full control over his rom.
Changed to better looking Boot Animation
Changed Read Cache for SDcard from 128kb to 1024kb
Set CPU speed to On Demand with min/max CPU to 245mhz/800mhz.
Set Default install path for new apps to SDCard

free space now 82.62mb
UI in general is now customized to provide maximum Desktop space and removed that damn stupid dockbar. You can still make use of all needed features, status bar is still on top in its default location, you can access menu from the Launcher icon in bottom right of homescreen. Phonebook/dialer can still be accessed by pressing the Phone button as normal.
Screenshots are attached below.

I made this for anyone who uses most of the same apps and stuff and dont care for the stupid side/dockbar and who don't know or dont want to hassle going thru all the crap to get the rom customized to the point where its actualy user friendly. You can now make FULL use of all your desktop space, you can add extra desktops and with all the most popular apps already installed you still have some memory free to install more.
Enjoy ....

Nice
One question, isn't SuperUser Elite a payed app?

no idea really. i just loaded from my backup apps folder, i hope not...

ext4 partition support?
Hi,
How can i use my ext4 partition on your rom which has formatted a partition program by windows based.
PS. i have never used this EXT4 partition..
i have tried CM and SuperOSR but,
internal seeing always 150mb in total.
If someone describe me using ext4 partitions step by step, i will be greateful

Sounds like you have partition issues, You are asking in the wrong section. This is a rom release, not a partition repair thread.

its good bro but not impressed, u just add few more apps to Rom n release it with very less internal memory..if u really would like to do with this ROM then configure front camera n release it or do some necessary changes for better experience..these application r easily available in market..everybody can add more application & release it with SuperOSR version 3 or 4...please don't copy someone's effort...
ROM is Already gud in itself...

O please, firstly i have taken no credit, neither did i say i changed anything on the rom. Secondly all roms are based on other roms, so everyone is taking stuff from everyone else. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU POST.
Thirdly, this release is a UI customisation change, not a new rom release. the current superos has a UI that I don't like, all the icons are badly sitting awkwardly on the right hand side, the left column of the screen cant even be used. the dockbar is wasting valueble space and with such a small screen, very few people can click the dock buttons properly. the problem is that they didnt design the rom specificly for just the chacha but for more than one device and as such never took the time to sit with a single device and fix the little things, and If they dont want to fix the UI then why shouldnt i ?
Fourthly, you are right, i didn't have to add the apps, but these are apps most people will use and load anyway so why not just add them into the rom ?

That's why it's called open source.
Btw, munishjoshi, most ROMs are based on AOSP, which is Android Open Source Project, that has about 2000 people around the world working/have worked/will work on it and you don't see any credits to any of them.

my intention was not to steal thunder from anyone. Its just so bloody annoying that everytime i flash superos i must keep fixing the UI and reload all these apps and there must be others out there that feel the same way, this is reason i posted this. if no one has any use for it ill remove it and let everyone be happy...
I am already working on a release of a stripped down Stock Sense rom. and on that rom i am actualy editing the rom itself, not just the UI. Altho it will be a while before its done.

hey don't take it otherwise bro...i just would like to say that do something new...waiting for your further updates...

Apart from the UI there is nothing else to do on this rom. the rom is perfect as it is. just the UI needed adjustment.
Wait for my new rom if you want to see major changes ...

Please adhere to the old addage "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it". Customization is why we all come to xda, either enjoy what is freely given to you, or do it yourself.

Your language and tone are unneeded, but your message is fine. I edit your posts so you can see how to get your point accross without cursing. Please look.
Can we all try to get along?
Let's have this battle end here and now, and move on.
Thank you all.

Ok boss...thanks

Keep on the good work.. nice to see more people are devolping and customizing for the chacha..

does this rom fix wifi issues and front camera?

nope. i did not make any fixes to the rom itself, i just customized the UI to be more user friendly and edited some cache settings and stuff.

True, SuperOSR wasn't designed especifically for the Chacha. We focused our effort on making it work. What is a great thing of OpenSource is that people can help and join to the effort. In that case, if you fixed the UI as you say you did, do not hesitate to send your modification so they can benefit everyone.
Now, if by fixing the UI you mean you replaced Launcher with ADW, then IMHO you didn't "fix" it.

lol, sorry wrong choice of words, i didn't mean fix as in it was broke. i just meant it wasnt very user friendly and customised it to be more so.

Modified launcher - source and apk attached (Number of homescreens now customizable)

Modified Launcher:
Current features:
* Customizable number of home screen and default screen. (default 3 screens, can be set from 2 to 10 screens)
* Sensor-based rotation can now be enabled/disabled from the extended settings menu.
* Applications from the application drawer can be hidden by throwing them in the recycle bin.
The ones that are thrown away will not be deleted but in the background a database is kept in which the applications info is stored and i modified the application loading so that it checks against that database and the ones in it will not be shown. This way you can finally organize the menu...
* Ive added an extra menu option to manage the added features. ( Extended )
Updates:
21-07-2009:
Source added ( attached as zip for now )
Somehow the forums zip upload isnt working at the moment ( or it doesnt like the zip file ) , so ive uploaded it to rapid share.
22-07-2009:
Number of homescreens and the default screen can now be set manually in the Extended settings screen.
Added apk ( launcher.zip ) to the first post.
23-07-2009
Sensor-based rotation can now be enabled/disabled from the extended settings menu
Added apk and new dump of complete source.
Side note:
The source has been build/tested against 1.5r2.
Issues:
There is one little bug I know of:
The applications arent removed on first boot... if you reboot everything works fine... I will look into this issue.
Same goes for the settings... you will need to reboot before stuff will be saved correctly.
Downloads:
-- STILL WORK IN PROGRESS SO IF YOU WANT A FULLY STABLE LAUNCHER DONT USE THIS UNTIL ITS TESTED FULLY --
Latest dump of the source can be found at http://rapidshare.com/files/259200651/Launcher_source_090723.zip
Be aware that the code is only a test case. Ill start cleaning up / organize stuff as soon as all the features are done...
And the latest .apk is attached below ( zipped )
Would it be possible to have per home screen menuing, so a different menu can be used for each home screen?
Wow. That sounds awesome rogro! I can't wait to see it. I'll be one of the first guinea pigs
neato
dot folder
Did I hear right? You will now be able to hide apps? Amazing just waht I have been waiting for! Maybe you could password protect the app that "Hides the apps! This is worth donating for!
Since your sharing the apk, you should share the code at github. This way there's no debate if it'll work on this build or that. sharing is what this community's all about.
Will do... as soon as i have everything tested and finished ill upload the source...
Wow ,great job. Been looking for something like this to run on a cupcake ROM. I'm curious though ,the app launcher is it the bigger ones (i.e. 5x4, 6x3) or the original ones.
what happens if you throw that extra menu option, that manages the hidden apps, into the recycle bin???
Universe exploads?
Sounds too good to be true!
I can't wait to try it!
(subscribed to thread)
IDEA!
PLEASE
add a function of picking up and dropping the icon allows a context menu to come up that includes app info page and market info page. (like dxtop)
This sounds awesome.. If you put up a Git repository I'll pull it for sure into my build.
wow can't wait for this sounds great!!
think you can have some sneak peak screenshots of this launcher in action =D
build up the HYPE lol.
this does sound awesome.
can't wait to see release and details!
cyan, i hope you put this on your rom!
i love all your roms!!
i think i'm excited.
yup. i am.
ummm
Any way you could use your superior knowledge to make one that has 3 screens and no auto rotate? I love the idea of being able to hide apps, but am not too fond of 5 screens and auto rotate. I've been replacing Launcher.apk in cyanogen's builds because of this. Does hiding apps make things run a little faster when returning to the home screen with the app drawer open?
Ill first finish this version tonight and then ill look into making the number and default of the home screens customizable, so that everyone can choose for themselves
dude you are to nice with trying to compromise with everyones needs. thats a good artist if i could say. i can be a test subject if you will and willing to try with ne rom or whatever. do it up!!
Added screenshots to first post showing the removal of applications
we've been hurting for home replacements, free ones anyway. Since you're at it, could you look if there's something that can be done to the app-drawer tab to have three clickable regions instead of one? I'm thinking something along the terms of the Rosie tab. You could add options so that the user could customize what each region does (ie, region 1 brings up the app drawer, region 2 brings up the dialer, and region 3 brings up the widget dialog, like rosie). I'd do it myself, I've already worked some pseudocode for it, but alas, my Java syntax is about 6 years too old and I haven't learned much of android's implementation yet.

[ROM] Tiny Hero Version 1 Revision 2 Bugfix 0 ~Fit, damn it, fit!~

Tiny Hero
Many, many thanks to both Enomther and akirah. This is mostly their work that I took and mashed together to make this build work. They're both easily the most helpful guys in the community (and they do reply to PMs!)
Change log in post #2 (I have to use it for something)
What is this?
This is a Hero Build that fits completely on the system partition of Haykuro's special SPL. Nothing is written to data, nothing is written to app_s. There's no official support for a2sd (although you can download the app from the market and use it, it should work fine). It does compcache with backing swap in your linux-swap partition by default if you have a third partition.
What's different about all other Hero builds?
This build was put together with one goal in mind; having as full a Hero experience without requiring/using a2sd or usage of the data partition.
This build doesn't require you to have an apps2sd partition set up, or a swap partition, though swap is recomended for aggressive use of the build.
What does this build require?
All this build requires is the newest radio and haykuro's SPL ("new spl"). I put in a lot of things in the system partition, though you still have about 1 MB free for you to play with.
What's missing in this build?
Due to size constraints, I had to do away with some things (not a lot though), compromise with other things, and add other things. Here's a short list:
-Bluetooth doesn't work on any hero build, move on...
-Footprints. Really.... Do you use it?.... Anyway, requires a lot of space... no thanks.
-PDF Reader. I removed PDF Reader because of the size of the library required to run it. I won't be adding that library because it's too big.
-Java. I didn't want to remove this, but the app and libs are much too big to justify.
-Stocks app and widget
-Weather app and widget. They're much, much too big and nothing but eye candy. if you really need a weather widget, there's several free small ones in the market. I also removed them because I the Clock widget doesn't seem to work right at displaying weather info anyway, so having the apps or not didn't make a difference that way.
-Maps. Big app. I removed it because you can download it from the market, and you can upgrade it later on.
-Wifi Tether. It's not included in this build so you can upgrade it, when it's part of /system, upgrade fails. Plus, I wanted to give you the choice to have it. It does work.
-Alarms, Notifications, and Ringtones. Only left one of each for size. Sorry.
What's included in this build?
I'm pleased to announce that this newer build is much, much better than the old beta I had made before (and that had been understandably ignored by pretty much everyone) here's what's still in the build:
-Flash Player. Yay!!!!. A build under 87 MB (original build, 89 MB with rev1) with full flash support, both in the browser and as streaming video. It's a resoruce hog, though, so use with care (you can disable plugins in the browser settings to deal with this). Note though, because I didn't test, original build and rev1 dont support flash. It was a simple issue, but rev2 is the same as the other two but much, much better. Instead of me uploading the previous two builds with flash working, i recomend you install the newest build instead.
-Social Networking. It's all there and they all work as you'd expect them to. Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, even Plurk. It's also got Plurk's and Twitter's widgets.
-Widgets!!!!!. This build has the HTC Bookmarks, Calendar, Clock, Mail, Messages, Music, People, Photo Album and Photo Frame, Plurk, Search, Settings, and Twitter Widgets. Short of Stocks and Weather, that's all of them!!!
-HTC_IME!!!!!. I made it fit!!!!! Latin_IME was removed because HTC_IME is so much better. I kept a replacement, though, CN Thai Keyboard, it's a very, very very light app (20k) that doesn't require any libraries, being 50 times smaller than Latin_IME (with libs), the choice was obvious.
-HTC Music, MMS, and Lockscreen. I've included these three in the same category because the Lockscreen brings them together. When playing with HTC music and you lock your phone, you can use the lockscreen controls, you also get MMS previews at the lockscreen.
-Quickoffice. Added it back to the build. If HTC includes it, then I guess it's ok.
-HTC World Clock
-HTC Camera and albums. I would have included Google's camera, because it's a 5 MB savings and it works exactly the same, but then that would have broken the ability to add wallpapers for home and lockscreen and I wasn't going to have that... by the way....
-PC Sync. I made this rom with this goal in mind; Nothing force-closes. Other hero roms you have to be careful not to click, say, Plurk during HTC Setup or PC Sync at settings because they're removed. I wanted to give you the freedom to click anything on this rom with the guarantee that it wouldn't force close, so I included all required apps by all the possibly clickable things available in the build.
-Market. No market problems here. Test it though and let me know.
Recomendations
-Use Sense (pun intended). Your HTC Dream has less memory than HTC Hero. Swap should never be considered to be real memory (it's not). I recomend that, if you use Rosie, populate only 3, max 5 screens. A lot of widgets slow the Launcher down, eat up memory, and you end up dropping processes a lot more than you should.
-Install OverclockWidget. This rom is not overclocked (mostly, because I've no idea yet how to set it to 528mhz by default, plus for battery reasons), and OverclockWidget gives you good control over your settings. It's a free market app, so there's no reason not to get it.
-Enable linux-swap if you have a class 6 card. Again, swap should never be considered working memory (because it's not) but having a bigger swap file means less processes are lost (since they're dumped to the swap file when physical memory is full and needed). If you don't use linux swap, the rom reverts to compcache only (without backing swap) with 32 MB of compcache and a swappiness of 0 (this seems to prevent Rosie re-loads). If you don't have a class 6 card, you can still use backing-swap if you have a third partition, though doing many things simultaneously (like playing music while on the browser) will slow your phone down and have music skips.
-Reboot your phone nightly (per charge). This clears swap and ram and gives your device that fresh feeling every time.
-Donate to devs. The pioneer devs deserve it. They don't run on hopes and dreams and without them, your device wouldn't be better than what you originally bought.

Flash the rom the usual way. Again, make sure you have Haykuro's Radio and SPL (install radio first). First boot takes a while (sorry, I tried making an odexed version with 89 MB free on first boot, but it adds about 20 MB to system and that's just unacceptable, I'd lose too many apps. Maybe I'll try later for giggles.). After it's done dexopting, the HTC Setup wizard takes a while to start (this is the same on all 2.x hero versions). I tried to fix this by using Google's setup instead, but for some reason it made the build lose support for SD Card and media, so HTC Setup stays.
Here's the download link for the roms:

Lastly, this rom is provided as is. It's your responsibility if you want to flash it. Any damages are your own fault. I reserve the right to support this rom from requests, and I don't plan on having a regular update schedule. This is just here for people to play with and see if they like it, or for devs to take it and maybe make it better. In case of thermonuclear warfare, wipe your phone and install Cyanogen's instead.
Credit goes to HTC for making the Hero build, Enomther (boot.img, expinit script, and the knowledge to make it all work. This is one of the most helpful guys in the community, so donate to him), Tehseano(Alarm clock skin and several skins in the google launcher), Akirah and Jac (2.83.x.x build and akirah's libs to make it work on the G1), Manup and Ted (skins for music and search widgets), Cyanogen (I believe parts of the included scripts are his ideas) and whoever else's work is in one way or another in this build, if I missed you, PM me, tell me what you did, and I'll add it. I did not make this, I merely put it together and made it work.
Change log
=jmHero.zip=
-Initial Release
-No Support for HTC_IME
-Missing StreetView
-Only one alarm, notification, and ringtone
-Expinit enables only compcache with 40 swappiness by default, no linux-swap (it's supported, but not enabled by the script)
=jmHerov1r1b0.zip= ~Because version numbers matter~
v1 means version 1 (same version as initial release)
r1 means revision 1 (added HTC_IME support and Streetview)
b0 means bugfix 0 (didn't fix anything, sorry)
-Added HTC_IME support:
-libt9.so in /system/lib
-Clicker.apk in /system/app
-push it back through adb to /data/app (pull it from another build)
-Added StreetView.apk so you can use StreetView (sorry, I overlooked in initial release)
-Added all notification and alarm sounds
-Modified the expinit script, swappiness is now more agressive (40), compcache size is now "real" 32 mb (32,768 kb up from 32,000 kb), and linux-swap is now enabled by default if a third partition is present
=jmHerov1r2b0.zip= ~Fit, damn it, fit!~
-Removed AlarmClock as HTC World Clock and Widgets are now included (along with all 12 clocks)
-Added CNSoftKeyboard to replace Latin_IME as an input option. It's much, much smaller.
-Added HTC_IME as standard keyboard
-Added Terminal Emulator
-Added Weather Provider and Location Picker, necessary for HTC World Clock and Widget
-Added HTC Photo Widget, this came from the beta version of hero because the newest one wouldn't work without some big libs I removed. It works fine, but no animations.
-Added Quickoffice
-Added HTC Search Widget
-Added /clockwidget/ and /lockscreen/land/ folders in /etc to enable the additional 7 clocks and landscape lockscreen wallpaper
-Added WP_0409WWE.db to /etc, this is basically the City list you get in Location Picker
-Replaced fonts with a smaller (per byte) set
-Replaced libicudata.so in /lib with a smaller one from ADP 1.5. This lib controls video compression for the camera, and it seems to work just fine, plus it's 2 MB smaller than the hero one.
-Removed akmk8973, bts, ssd_bma150_usr, and zcghd in /bin. bts is used for controling bluetooth aspects of the build, but bluetooth doesn't work, so i removed it (and it was big, 1 MB). The other three, I have no idea what they do, but nothing broke afterwards, so they stay off.
-Removed Hero and Sapphire hardware libraries, this is a Dream build.
-Removed alarms and notifications that I had uploaded in previous build, did this for size (though I'm still debating which was better, having all 7 clocks, or all notifications and alarms). Kept only one of each.
-Removed keyboards and keyboard layouts for non-english non-qwerty keyboards. Sorry, somebody else can work them back into another build.
-Modified expinit script to enable either standalone compcache or compcache with backing swap and adjust the swappiness depending on expected usage. I also included a call for a2sd, though I didn't include an a2sd script because I couldn't make one that worked. If somebody wishes to work on this, all you need to do is have an a2sd script in /system/bin, and expinit will automatically call it. DONT USE EXISTING SCRIPTS, they don't work and they'll break whatever you have in your second partition.
Wow never thought that this could b done gonna test it now
I'll look at it in some time
POST FROM OLDER BUILD, IGNORE
Please have a look at Market downloads if all works. I might have to add some things to build.prop and update-script. I made a build of this same one but for my own use (added all my backed-up apks to /data/app inside the update.zip) and market won't work, but I remember it working on the original one I had made. I don't know if it's broken on this one, and I'll be sleeping soon and then working so I won't be able to flash again until tomorrow and I want to know if I have to fix Market.
---Edit---
Tested this myself. Market works (don't know about paid apps, never bought anything). When I downloaded from the market on my other build it would give me an error saying there was no space left anymore, when I had a full 48mb left. My guess is that I have to set up persmissions for data/app in update-script to fix this.

thanks to barakinflorida, I might have a solution for the lockscreen (different boot.img). I'll try it and see if it doesn't break anything else.
ive been trying to do this with the newest release, but no luck so far, cant get it to boot once i get it small enough and some reason not getting any log cat to say where im goin wrong, downloading urs to try now and might try some optimizing on that instead if thats ok with u

you need a custom build.prop so it can boot!

Removing busybox helps a lot, but then you lose things like a2sd, and other things. With this build you won't have any space left in system to play around with, but feel free to improve it. I want people to do that.
I'll actually start working on a build using what I learned from this one but based on Jac and Drizzy's hero. If I'm right, I should have 87mb free in data w/o a2sd on first boot.

Reboot the phone. If that doesn't work, wipe and flash again. Make sure you have the correct SPL (it should throw an error during installation if you don't because system will run out of space quickly).
I've been thinking that there might be slight differences in partitions, some people might have a few kb less than others. I'll try to re-work the build with a 5 mb headroom for error.
I'm at work, so it'll take a day maybe.
---edit---
Ok, weird bug. This happened to me too. I lost the AlarmClock.apk, but it's still in there. I seem to be losing space in /system, so I do think I crammed too much in there. I'll check some more, but for now, restore your nandroid backups, this build is as of now unstable.
POST FROM OLDER BUILD, IGNORE
Ok, the problem is not too severe. I did use a lot more space than I should have in /system, and that's why the app lossage is happening. Unfortunately, it seems you don't have a say which apps you lose, like Daneshm, you might lose a system critical one like the phone. I'll re-work it down to ~85 MB and put it up again. Right now I'm at work checking the forum from my phone, so I can't work the fix, but I'll be home at around 5 AM East Time, so maybe I'll test a slimmer build and put it up (sorry guys, we might lose Twitter)...
im gonna work on getting this to work with a2sd and the stock spl

Shouldn't be too hard. I think the system is about 60 mb with app removed, so moving that to app_s and symlinking it would certainly make it work with a2sd, but my original intent was to not use a2sd at all. I like being able to hot-swap my memory card.
I'm home now, so I'll work on a different idea I had. I won't promise anything though.
ok im uploading a version for stock spl now, it still doesnt use a2sd but im working on adding that if needed

Yeah. I know about flash reader, but some people like it. What I think I'll do later on is add it instead to /data/app along with Quickoffice and Big fat HTC_IME

I haven't been able to replicate the problem with the disappearing apps yet, plus I'm working on another project (the tiny hero based on the new releases). I'm also thinking I'll remove the Lockscreen and fix the hero beta one (it's completely transparent) instead. The lockscreen lags, and without the HTC music app, it's also kind of useless

Suggestions for custom rom makers/stock rom mods.

Hello everyone,
As it seems that I really like writing a lot (in English especially) and writing guides (my job requires a lot of standards), I thought of creating a guide for devs/custom rom makers/stock rom modifiers.
This guide is not something that I want to impose, these are just suggestions and I will also include some known issues around here. So, let's begin.
1. Bootanimation
This can be selected as you wish. Any bootanimation other than the standard one should be fine. Or, if you want, you can provide more animations and a short guide on how to change bootanimation.zip and where.
2. Lock Screen
Removing the HTC Lockscreen will lead to the default android Gingerbread one. Now this one's buggy. Like hell. For example, pull the right slider (the one with the sound control) to change the profile to vibrations. Now you can see that the slider is hanging from the top, pointing to bottom (can be fixed with a phone restart).
Example:
3. Missing caller screen when phone is locked
If you have the default lockscreen you will notice that there is no incoming call screen displayed when the phone is locked (that or I removed too much stuff). Keep this in mind.
4. Icons/Notifications
Even though the default Gingercroissant (too much bread) looks black, if you pull the status bar (taskbar) you will notice that it turns back to white-grey (the default HTC Sense/ChaCha) one. Keep this in mind when adding icons/notifications. (picking white icons will render them barely visible)
5. Applications
Most devs/modders prefer to add their most liked applications and integrate them into the ROM (so that you cannot uninstall them from Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications) which kinda sucks since not everyone uses/likes the same stuff (it's called "taste"). Basically I am suggestion to add only SuperUser and let the users install their own apps (Titanium, Messenger, GPS, etc.). For example I have my own Titanium Backup.apk (it's personalized) which I want to install - cannot be installed if Titanium is already present though.
6. Google Sync
Some of us like to have the Google account synchronized with the GMail server and I would suggest leaving the Google Contacts Sync and Calendar Sync in the rom (they can be removed later). It's easier to remove than to search the internet and add them separately.
7. Bloatware
News, Weather, Mirror, Stocks, News&Weather (Yes, 3 different applications for the same stuff), HTC Likes, HTC Hub, Downloads, Facebook, Peep, Tweeter, GTalk.. There are more, of course (for example I have also removed Live wallpaper stuff since I don't use Live wallpapers, skin picker, skin scanner, profile widget, ringtone widget, and more) and it should be taken into consideration this question: how much is really enough?
8. Link2SD and ext-partitions
Well, since custom roms do allow the use of ext and Link2SD I suggest using them as much as possible.
I do hope that this could help some of you (or mocked by others) but any feedback is welcomed.
Excellent suggestions! I'd also like to keep the HTC Sense widgets, as I find them quite useful. HTC Likes & HTC Hub can be removed, as they don't provide much use. Cheers.
Applications bundled with a rom can still be easily uninstalled, provided that the rom maker knows how to, and puts the apks inside an /data folder. Mounting and extraction is similar to that of the /system partition. The profit of this is the uninstallability (nice word, huh?) Of the added apks, the downside is of course that a data wipe will remove these applications. Ideal would be a /system rom base update.zip, and an applications.zip containing all the added applications the developer likes, to be extracted into /data. Just sharing my thoughts..

i have been customizing my rom based on the stock, but this was one of the irritating parts. finally, i have decided to use the original htclockscreen.
to change the icons in the lockscreen, you don't need to have rosie installed. all you need is simply to add setting.xml in /data/data/com.htc.lockscreen/shared_prefs. (i did it in init.d)
the format of setting.xml is as follow:
Code:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8' standalone='yes' ?>
<map>
<boolean name="customized" value="true" />
<string name="shortcut1">#Intent;action=android.intent.action.MAIN;category=android.intent.category.LAUNCHER;component=com.android.htcdialer/.Dialer;end</string>
<string name="shortcut2">#Intent;action=android.intent.action.MAIN;category=android.intent.category.LAUNCHER;component=com.google.android.gm/.ConversationListActivityGmail;end</string>
<string name="shortcut3">#Intent;action=android.intent.action.MAIN;category=android.intent.category.LAUNCHER;component=com.android.camera/.CameraEntry;end</string>
<string name="shortcut4">#Intent;action=android.intent.action.MAIN;category=android.intent.category.LAUNCHER;component=com.handcent.nextsms/com.handcent.sms.ui.ConversationExList;end</string>

Thanks for trying my custom rom.....
1) what do you mean by this? does your power off button not showing the power options? if yes, you need to press and hold the button for 2 to 3 sec for the power option menu to show up
2) As alex stated, you need to flash the latest CWM recovery
3) what CID you have? what did you changed.
And did anyone know how to move this post to the original ZASA thread?
I've done the same thing you are doing over here and, beside Link2SD removing the Sense UI and things, i've removed even the default E-Mail client, News, Meteo, HTC Clock Widget, Facebook, Peep, Latitude, Messages Widget, Inform HTC, Meteo Widget, Music Widget, HTC Sense, Street View, Home Suggestions, HtcTrendsWidget, Photo Widget, Meteo Sync Provider for HTC, Ringtone Widget, Animated Wallpaper Selector, Sense Plugin Manager, HTC Meteo Wallpaper, HTC HubSync Provider, HTC Report Agent, HTC CheckIn Service.
Instead i've installed:
Kingsoft Office
Facebook for Android (From the PlayStore)
GoLauncher EX (i had an unlock bug, but i still see the volume button as you; i will change the lockscreen)
K-9 Mail
GoClock Widget
Quadrant Standar
* Winamp
Link2SD
Battery Indicator
Terminal Emulator (thinking about change it)
SuperUser
---------
*Thinking about removing "Music"
The reason for doing this is as simple as "You don't use it, you don't need it" and battery life ( IMPROVED! ).
---------
I'm having problems with the fB button, but i will fix it with the .apk that let's you choose what for to use it. I don't really need a fB button. Trying to make it sync the mails atm.
BTW, it was pretty hard to get it rooted and CWM installed. But i've done it!
If anyone needs help, pm me.
p.s. Keep the stock ROM, it's way better than everything atm.
p.s.s. i've used for work for 2 days so far and it's doing his job very well. F* BB&WP7 )

1. When I power off and put on charging ... Phone starts up automatically with HTC report notification that something went wrong...
2.I am updated with latest cwm. Temp work around was to use Rom manager and directly reboot recovery

[ROM] Nick's Phone Compiled From Oxy/Roalex With Mods [15.08.2012]

Nick's Phone V1.0 Based on Oxygen and Built From Roalex Sources
First of all, big thanks to AdamG, _thalamus, Roalex, everyone at Cyanogen, ihlades and everyone else who helps the desire! (And others I've forgot!)
I wasn't going to build Android from source because I knew it would grip me and consume me but I couldn't help it! I've been building Oxygen and Roalex from source and have added in my own changes in to both. I've settled on Roalex because it has more patches and updates than I can be bothered to add in manually! (I don't use github, all my changes are done offline etc)
Anyway, the ROM is based on Roalex's source code for his Wip branch as of the beginning of August with:
Lockscreen calendar - with the next 3 appointments shown up to 1 week in advance
Lockscreen Music controls - appear when music is playing and screen is locked, ONLY WORK WITH STOCK GINGERBREAD MUSIC PLAYER! (for some reason). They do work with Winamp but it sometimes mixes up play / pause modes. Not sure why but I prefer the stock player as it's lightweight and themed with my own mods
Lockscreen Torch - long press the home button to enable the torch (I use this so much I had to have it!)
Swipe Away Last Notification and Close Notification Tab - Bit of a gimmick but I liked it!
Fix alarm snooze / dismiss unlocking the screen - Cyanogenmod has this but Oxygen didn't, so I added it. Basically when you dismiss your alarm it unlocks your screen! Which is annoying!
+ My own ICS based theme I've done. Please see screenshots.
All my changes are hard coded in and CANNOT be turned off. Sorry, I could add in the ability to turn them off but this is based on what I want and use so I didn't want the ability to turn them off because I don't want to!
I've also added my own Go Launcher ICS theme, Go Widgets Theme and my calendar ICS theme for Android Pro Widgets.
I've used Holo Launcher as the default launcher and have modified this also, with some graphical changes I prefer!
I've also added in a modified stopwatch & timer app themed by me.
There's also:
720p HW Playback
Trackpad to wake (NOT to unlock)
SDCard buffer modified to 1024KB
T9 Dialler
I've decided not to add in any build.prop tweaks as I'm not convinced they do anything! Or do very little, so I've done none of those this time but anyone is welcome to add them in if you choose to.
As with all my ROMS, this is provided "as is" and no warranty is given or implied, so you can use at your own risk.
If anyone notices any bugs / issues then please let me know or post here!
Anyway, enjoy!

FULL WIPE IS RECOMMENDED!
There's about 30MB of unused space in /system if you use the CM7r2 HBoot so you can either fill it up with your own applications or use the following custom HBoot created by schalmers to give you a system 125 / cache 5 / data 307 partition setup.

You can choose where to install your apps (same as Mildwild V4.3).
As per the instructions for MW's ROM (thanks SydBarret55), If you want apps on sd-ext:
1. Activate sd-ext:
Go to Setting>Applications>Development
Check SD-EXT
Reboot phone
2. Choose the default location for applications:
Go to Settings > Applications > Preferred install location
Choose sd-ext
Or go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25430232&postcount=3812
You can also move apps individually:
Settings > Applications > Manage applications
Touch the app you want to move, and then touch where you want the app to go e.g. Move to Phone, Move to SD-Ext (EXT3 or EXT4 partition) or Move to SD card (Fat 32 partition).
Again, the link above has screenshots to show you what to do.

It's basically a mix from the original ICS ROM, Sonny's amazing CM7 theme and some of my own work from all over the place! Like the circle battery mod is taken from the online kitchen (or from dGB by SUroot, can't remember where!) and modified to blue and grey by me. Most the notifications have been colour coded to blue by me and when you press menu, I've tried to colour code all those icons to white as well.
It's taken a long time to get to where it is but like I've posted before, I'm keeping my desire for another 8 months or more so want it to be the way I like it (and hopefully others do as well!)
Nick
Flashed this last night and i'm really impressed with it.
It's super quick. Even booting it up only takes about 10 seconds!
*edit*
Is there any way to change the clock colour to white? I've done theme using the UOT Kitchen and the blue clock doesn't look right.

I would have thought there's a way to do it in the Kitchen but if not you will need to use APKtool to decompile the framework-res.apk file unfortunately.
You can decompile it and edit the following bit in styles: (under res\values\styles.xml)
<style name="TextAppearance.StatusBar" parent="@android:style/Theme">
<item name="android:textSize">14.0sp</item>
<item name="android:textStyle">normal</item>
<item name="android:textColor">#ff39b6e7</item> <--------------- change this to ffffffff
</style>
Or you can do it this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9978779#post9978779
You just need to follow the bit that says notification, date and time (decompiling the systemui.apk file).
Cheers,
Nick

I've only really changed a few things, mainly when you press menu the screen is transparent with a white border, instead of solid grey. Also when you press and hold on an icon, thats transparent and has a white border instead of just being solid grey and also when you go into a folder that's transparent with a white border. I've also made the return to desktop icon in the launcher brighter white and changed the play icon to ics blue instead of the semi-transparent white.
Not big changes but I prefer consistency!

It should be as it's based on the original oxygen / roalex sources and they are multi-language. Please let me know how the lock screen calendar looks because there's a string I changed in values for how the date is displayed, such as:
core/res/res/values/donottranslate-cldr.xml
<string name="abbrev_wday_month_day_no_year">E MMM d</string>
But I ONLY added this to values, not values-es and values-it etc etc so I hope Android will default to english and not crash if there's no language specific change. EG:
core/res/res/values-de/donottranslate-cldr.xml
<string name="abbrev_wday_month_day_no_year">E, d. MMM</string>
I presume it just means the date will be formated in UK format and not Spanish, but should still display correctly. Hopefully someone can let me know or post a screenshot to see if there's any issues.
EDIT: Just changed my language a few times and the lockscreen didn't crash or anything it displayed the date but I'm not sure if it's doing it wrong, but it looked OK but I only speak English unfortunately!

If there's a serious bug or update and there's a need to update the Tom then I will do yeah. But I wont be releasing minor graphical changes because the rom is pretty much where I want it graphically.
As for the kernel, I recommend the one that's in the rom as its thalamus' r4 release which is the latest one but has roalex's patch for call recording. If you want things neat you could flash thalamus' standard kernel on top but I expect that would break KSM if you use it (I don't)

I've read a bit about it but, as with compcache, swap and that kind of things, I never find to understand the "pros and cons", and usually dind't feel big differences when enabling and disabling.
Thanks!

I don't use it to be honest and I would doubt you would find much benefit from turning it on. I think it's mainly for when you're running virtual machines on a single host or if you run lots of similar processes on the same host.
So I imagine if you could make 2 calls at once and put one on hold while talking to the other etc then KSM might be able to use parts of that process and merge them in memory, potentially saving memory (totally hyperthetical here!). However, it's probably very minimal gains versus the time it takes for your phone to keep analysing memory pages to merge them!
And in theory, your phone should release memory used for processes once they've finished so even if you did save memory by using KSM in this hyperthetical situation, when you end both calls you should get the memory used released and back available anyway!
I think it only helps to run / do more things at once rather than get speed benefits because if 2 processes need the same memory page again it will create a copy and you have 2 un-merged pages again and more memory used up.
Someone more techy might provide a better insight but in a phone I would say it's not necessary. On a hyperV server running 20 virtual hosts I would say yes!

CM10 Usability enhancement tweaks

First of all many thanks to all those people who have made it possible to run CM10 on our mobiles - Kabaldan most importantly for developing CM10 and skrilax for the nightly builds. Also all developers like zepellinrox, fufu for the various applications, scripts and tweaks.
Since other users asked for a list of tweaks/modifications etc. I prepared this post.
The things I am proposing below are working for me, they might not work or be suitable to you and the way you use your device. I am just sharing my experiences.
Before installation:
- Fast micro sdhc card (4K random writes at 2 MB/s)
- 1 Ext 3 partition of 950 MB
- 1 Swap Partition of 950 MB
- Fufu open recovery minimod v.0.23
- Wipe all
After installation
- Install miui cam app from the link below. The first time camera is run, it asks for default application just choose the miui
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1687161&d=1359486822
- Install Quickpic. The first time gallery is run, it asks for default application, just choose quickpic.
- If there is a trouble with alarms of the default clock application (app freezing after choosing alarms) just erase cache of the app.
- Install FTL Launcher Lite (free mode is ok – no need for the paid one).
- Activate swap. I am using 98swapon script by fufu and I activate the whole of the available swap on my card. With the settings I use after a couple of days it usually stays below 100 MB. If you want experiment with fixed 64 MB, 80 MB or 128 MB.
- Install script manager from market
- Download the latest zeppelinrox script and the supercharger starter kit
From the starter kit install only sqlite3+zipalign_installer_v6.sh
Run the supercharger script and install it and activate what you want (I have activated everything and use 512 MB multitasking settings)
After that you will achieve 50% activation of the script.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021
- Download Ultimate Jar Power Tools windows version. In order to install it you need to activate usb debugging and run the application as administrator from the pc. I think you also need Motorola drivers so that the phone is recognized by the pc. I activate everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914159
- I install autostarts, this is a program with which you can disable startup items. It is a paid app, I have not searched if there is a free alternative. I disable almost all non-system apps that I do not want running after boot and some system ones with great care like maps.
- I disable hardware acceleration for most apps I usually run. I have found this makes things a bit faster. This is because we are running with a CM9 graphics driver (maybe this is not the only reason, please correct me).
- After installing about 50 apps I have some trouble with play store. The app downloads but never installs. I have to exit play store, open a couple of apps that need much memory (e.g. navigation software, browsers etc.). After that I fire up play store again and the app starts installing. Also it has happened with some big apps in size (above 20 MB) that it says no free space is available. After clearing the cache of apps like web browsers, skype, navigation software, etc. the installation is possible.
- In order to make vibration stick even after reboot, it must be activated in profile settings. If the choice is made through the drawer it is lost after a reboot.
Most probably I have forgotten something; I will add it later on…
950MB for swap? Really? Too big.
Improve speed by setting all (3; windows, scale and speed) animations to disabled in Dev Options.
Uninstall Gallery and Trebuchet when you have installed an other app (QuickPic, FLT or Lightning Launcher) same for the Cam App.
I will keep this reply updated with all infos I can remember.
Never intended to use 950 MB swap with milestone and whenever I have seen the swap going over 150 MB in usage the phone is at the edge of usability. There are scripts and apps with which you can set a specific part of the swap partition for swap so you can actually set whatever you want from the 950 MB.
When going from one mobile to the next I usually don't format the card, since mp3s and so on will remain there. I formatted the card assuming that I would use it with my future phone as well and anyhow 32 GB are more than I currently use (about 15 GB). My last memory card of 8 GB came from my previous phone.
I was doing tests to see when the phone started to lag and this is why I had let it unlimited to the full 950 MB. It was about the time I installed zepellinrox script with ultimate jar tools. One side effect was that swap grew very slowly in comparison with before. I noticed that even after 3-4 days rarely it exceeded about 100 MB. Fufu also said that he would include in his script the option to set a specific size of the swap in the next version. So I kinda let it there.
Thanks _crAss_ for the usefull post and the work you put into it to help others. Whenever I have the time I will take the plunge into CM10 to see how it goes. As soon as I get it to my liking and if I enconter any problems/issues I will report it here so others might read as well.
Thanks again. :good:
I think one the most important of all this tricks is the fast SD Card. But I'm unable to find a good one. Mine is a SDC10/8GB from Kingston, but is not really fast at 4K writes. Do someone know good models? I want to buy a new one if it complies the necessary speed.
There is a post at another forum with lots of benchmarks. I give the link below. The problem is that different production dates give different results. I got the transcend Ultra 32 Gb, the results are not the same as the ones reported in that post, but are comparable and fortunately the 4K random writes is good. My old card was a Toshiba class 6 bought years ago, presenting class 10 speeds in sequential read/write. Unfortunately 4K writes were down to 0.016 KB/s making it unusable for swap (I used to use the internal memory for swap then).

Also yesterday I installed viber and experienced huge battery drain, about 10-10% per hour. Even though I disabled everything through autostarts it kept popping up in running apps list and I guess it constantly tried to connect to no avail (since I activate wifi or 3G only when I want to log on to the internet). The new battery I have with moderate use goes up to 2 days, so imagine my shock of going down to almost in a couple of hours with screen off during the night...
I´ve installed CM10 on my phone and I´m in the process of configuring all the apps I need on it. I will just give my first impressions of the pros ands cons.
Pros:
- CM10 seems smoother than 9 (when everything works correctly), but this might be due to cpu overclock settings (I´ll explain later);
- Still did not experiment with other cm10 exclusive functions like Google Now for example, but if they work that is a plus for me;
- Contacts Import/Export from SDCard option available from the Phone app;
- SMS sending on Enter issue with CM9 seems not hapening on 10 (I remember using it before and it did not happen on 10). Still need to further check on that.
Cons:
- Power button options do not include a screenshot option (as CM9 did);
- Notification bar when pulled hides the icons on top (I do believe on cm9 they remained there), and the user can´t see, in real time, the changes made;
- Network icon stays blank when conection is very,very low/no conection is possible (happens a lot with ****ty Vodafone at may house), to the point that I do not know if I do not have any conection at all (on CM9 when the network was inexistent a "x" appeard instead of the network strengh bars);
- Camera app does not have the option (nor the media/camera sounds renaming option helps) to disable shutter and focus sounds (it could be useful for people who wanted to use the stock camera for photos and panorama and another camera for video). I´m using UCam at the moment and the option is there. Did not try MUIU camera nor Zoom Camera as other options yet as mencioned somewhere, but I believe at least MUIU camera does not have panorama option (a feature I love to use and used alot on CM9);
- Overclock feature does not stick even after a screen on/off situation. It always reverts back to maximum 1000MHZ cpu clock (what I talked above-maybe the smootheness I feel is due to the cpu clock this high?). Most probably. My battery came to 20% from 100% in less than 6 hours with the cpu clocked like that.
On CM9 I used to use 600MHZ for comon tasks and 800MHZ for heavier tasks/heavy games (along with Swap enabled) and it did the trick perfectly. More than 800MHZ the cpu just gets to hot and the battery drain is too high in my opinion. Using the overclock script mod (when you need to change/scale everything to the clock you need) simply does not cut it for the use I´m after (quick change between options). Will try and see if old Milestone Overclock does the job on CM10.
From the top of my head these seem to be the things that popped out at first glance (and some really anoying - like the cpu thing). Will test it further and report back :good:
P.S: Is it possible to disable the CRT screen off style? I do prefer a simpler "old" school screen off style.
First of all which governor have you set? With it set to inteactive most of the time it settles at 250 MHz when doing nothing. I get (with a new battery) very long standby times. Even when fooling around with the phone a lot I can get easily a full day.
The screenshot in the power button menu can be activated in settings (System-Power menu).
If I remember correctly the animations can be turned off in Developer options.

Thanks for the reply. The governor setting is set to interactive, but still when I do use the phone it ramps up to 1000MHZ which, at least in my phone, the battery has got to years plus, it shortens battery life a lot, and I do believe the cpu gets to hot for my liking really. I installed Set CPU, the problem with it is that sometimes when rebooting the stock governor settings stick and override the Setcpu one´s. Other times it does not happen, and Setcpu one´s prevaile...
Relating the screenshot option, I found the menu I needed thanks to your input:good:. Still I can´t find any option for the CRT animation under development options or any other option really. Maybe it is not present on CM10? Other things I notice on CM10 is that sometimes when turning the phone on (booting) it does not always lock on my network provider, even filling in the pin number. Sometimes I go and notice the network is not activated at all and have to put the phone to fligh mode and back again for it to lock in. Other than that I´m installing all my apps and will see how it goes. For now it is snappy enough

Dear Ricfil,
I also agree with most of your findings. Are you using the stock launcher 'Trebuchet'?If you install 'Lightening Launcher' and delete Trbuchet CM10 will become more smooth.More over Lightening Launcher is lighter than than Trebuchet and FTL Launcher also.
Regarding UCam,it's present update is much worse than the previous making it user unfriendly and it's camera mode unusable. So I uninstalled it and tried with MIUI Camera.Although it is much light with 463 KB it is spartan and lacks major options like video flash.video zoom ,panorama camera etc.So I installed Zoom Camera now and found it is the most smoothest than the stck,MIUI&UCam having a low weight of 550 KB,with all functions like,Video Zoom,Video Flash,Shutter Sounds,Panorama, abundant options of focusing&colour filters etc. It's also is the most user friendly and it is having frequent updates also.
Coming to Battery Drain,if you install an apk from Playstore namely 'Greenify',it will considerably reduce the battery drain by hibernating unwanted applications running in the background all the time.It will allow the apk to run only when it is needed.
About CRT I don't know much much about it.So will you please through some light on it so we can understand in detail?
Thanking you...

This was changed in CM10. When you have no signal, the icon is a unfilled triangle with a thin border. But if there is signal, but it is too low, you see the dark grey bars.

Relating Lightning Launcher, I´ve tried it before but the learning curve for it is to much for me right now. I need something easy ti use and fast. This Launcher is so amazing in the way it has got so much it can do that it tends to be to overwhelming, for me at least. I´m using the good "old" Launcher Pro on CM10 and for now it is doing the job pretty well in my opinion. Fast, stable, with all I need.
Another subject I notice is when titanium restoring apps some of them restore to the sdcard (not internal memory-ext partition). if I try to move them to the ext partition(internal memory) with the built in app configuration of CM10 an error appeares relating low memory on internal memory-when there is plenty of memory in there-on the ext partition. A workaround I found was using Titanium himself to move the apps to internal memory. It does the trick for me
Relating the camera aspect, I´m fortunate enough to have an old UCam version (agree with you, last one is not indeed user friendly-I much prefer the version I´m using). Will have to check Zoom Camera to see how it goes for me. By the way, did you unistall stock Camera and Galery? If so, did you do it the normal (aplication configuration) way?
Will definetly check the Greenify app also. But still the 1000MHZ clock is there, which is too much in my opinion at least. I´ve already created 2 10 overclock files with one of them with max cpu clock at 800MHZ (for heavy stuff-like games and such) and one with 600MHZ (for common tasks). They work great, the problem is that the script only sticks at boot, If I could find a way to make it stick when the system is on that would be awesome (to swap between them on the fly ). It probably isn´t possible-at leats for now.
The CRT aspect I mencion is the effect you see when pressing the power/on/off button to turn the screen off (that quick white line effect you see, like it happened with "old" CRT TVs (don´t know if your familiar with them, those big boxes of the 70s/80s/90S
Do you have a way to turn that effect off? On CM9 there was an option for it. On 10 I can´t seem to find it.
Will continue configuring the phone and will be posting back:good:
Thanks again.

Yes, they are almost white, it's very easy to distinguish them. But when data is activated and working well, they turn blue.

Thanks Ricfil for the reply.
regarding stock gallery apk,I uninstalled it using TitaniumBackup with deletion of Backup and wiping of Data.
Coming to setting of CPU,have you used the facility in Settings/Performance/Processor/Maximum CPU frequency to set maximum to 800?
Regarding installation apks,I use the following method. After installation using Playstore or side loading the apks which show in the internal memory are moved to SD Card using Titanium Backup.AT first Titanium will ask whether Ext partition has to be activated.I opted yes.Thereafter Titanium will move all the apks to sd .In it there is also option to move the apks to internal memory.
And thanks for the information for CRT.Iam familier with it with my CRT TV.But I am sorry to offer a remark since I didn't give a particular noticce for it.

Ok. If I understood correctly, you unistalled the galery.apk of the phone using titanium, and after also deleted the galery backup on Titanium?... Did not quite get it May I simply unistall the camera and gallery whithout the phone go bootloop or something like that (my main issue, since no backup was made yet)?
Regarding Titanium apps installation, mine did not ask where I wanted the apps to be installed, they simply install and the stock app2ext script installs the apps onto the ext partition (when it works-since some apps do not install using the stock functions on my phone). That is why I mencioned I´m using titanium to "force install" apps to internal memory (ext partition). I´ve managed to install them all, will see if they are not broken or something like that.
On a side note. I´m pretty shure when I first installed CM10 (5 months ago) it had the option on keyboard settings to choose to disable the enter key to send sms messages (hardware keyboard). That was one of the things that made me switch to it again, since CM9 does not have this option. But lately I´ve been looking for that option and it is no longer there. At least I can´t find it...arghhh I HATE the lack of that feature. Pisses me off! LOL. Maybe kabaldan took the option out? Hope not...
Also today, a feature I was having pretty comonly the first time I installed CM10 happened again. The "Telephony problem-phone needs to reboot" dreadfull window appeard again, no network resulted from there and a reboot was the only way out of it. Some bugs I guess... that is why CM10 is still in Alpha stage I believe...
See you.
P.S: I´ve just read a private message from a fellow forum member named Sunxperous who was kind enough to help me out regarding the CRT style effect option. Better than using my on words, I believe he might not mind if I put here what he explained about the options to enable and disable that setting. It went like this:
Hello
I do not have the number of posts required to post in the development forums, so here is a private message with regards to the screen-off CRT animation.
I believe the option you are looking for is found under Settings > Developer Options, "Window animation scale". A scale of 1x renders the CRT effect, a scale of 0.5x and off disables the CRT effect.
I read elsewhere on the forum that turning the animation scales off or setting them at 0.5x makes the phone feel snappier. I liked the CRT animation, hence I kept "Window animation scale" at 1x.
I hope this helps, and if it does, do enlighten fellow Milestone users in the thread about it.

Big thanks for his contribution and once again thanks for the info :good:

Regarding uninstallation of gallery.apk,I uninstalled it using Titanium with deletion of Backup. You can uninstall without deleting Backup. If Backup is deleted you can't restore the apk with Titanium.
Titanium will ask only in the first time after flashing the ROM with a full wipe and reinstalling Titanium as to whether ext sd card is to be configured for installing the apks.If we agree to it then it will install the apks to ext sd card automatically all the time afterwards without repeating the same question.
In relation to keyboard settings for "enter key' I also do not see any options in Settings/language input.
But I experience a problem with MMS.?The phone does not send MMS eventhough I completed the APN set up for the MMS as per the default settings specifications provided by my Carrier provider. When I press the SEND button the MMS shows 'Sending'.But it never sends. What should be the problem and what is the remedy?
Thanking you once more....

Titanium did not ask that on first time for me. I´m pretty shure it didn´t. Nevertheless, I found the way mencioned before to install all the misisng apps to internal/ext partition.
Relating the mms issue, I havent tried to send an mms yet. Will let you know how it goes when I do. If you did enable "activated data" option on definitons>wireless & networks>more>mobile networks, have network data enabled on the carrier side and it still does not send it, it is probably another CM10 bug I guess. I´ve read about people also having problems with tethering and the likes... Things meant to happen in "a work in progress" I guess...
Regarding Grennify, I´ve already configured all the apps possible to be hibernated on the app, but still, system apps like Maps, Google Play and others (which are always turning on on background memory) cannot be "grennified", with a warning that those system apps can´t be "touched"... It would be cool if this app would actually let users grennify all available apps...
Just remembered, things I don´t like on the notification area on CM10: The fact that the drop down isn´t semi-transparant like on CM9 and date is above the icons with big letters (personal opinion, but I prefered the smaller below the icons date letters on CM9). Small issues I believe .
Things I do like on CM10 notification area:
Available info regarding calls received, sms received and the option to directly send an sms back/call someone on the fly. I also like the fact that the user is able to quick delete all running background apps on multitasking menu by simply clicking one button. Good thinking! :good:
Thanks for the heads up.

Maps and Google Search can be greenified by converting it user apk using Titanium or by uninstalling them and reinstalling from Playstore.I didn't try to greenify Playstore as it may become harmful sometimes considering the unpredictable nature of it.But I think it won't run in background all the time if we get out of it after it's use by long pressing the back button if this button has assigned 'kill apk function'.
And waiting for your report on MMS after your test in convenience,
with thanks....

Ok man. Thanks. I´ve used Titanium to convert Maps and Google Search to user apps and it works wonders Play Store does not work, whenever you go to update an app, Play Store crashes and never launches again, with an error. It must be a system app I believe - when coverted back all went ok. On the first launch Greenify seemed to ocuppy lots of ram on my phone, making it sluggish, but after a reboot all started to go well It seems a pretty nice app indeed.
Relating the mms option, I do not use it a lot, but when I get my operator monthly feed on the phone again (low on cash at the moment ) will try to send one an see how it goes. Will report back here.
Take care man.
