I am sorry but I have looked through the forums and can't find specific help for this. I started to root my phone a couple of days ago. Already have the cwm and nvflash but never put in a rom. Now I receive an update for my phone from Tmobile and I can't update it. When I try the cwm screen comes up instead and goes no further. As you might already know I am very much a novice and need a step by step method to complete. Thanks so very much for any help you can provide.
you have to do the one click cwm again, but this time.. put it back to stock recovery. It's in the instructions on the same thread you got cwm from. It should be..

I took it back to stock recovery and it's not giving me the update any longer but it's still on the v21e. I tried updating the software but it told me I had the latest version. Any suggestions now? Anyone?

Just keep checking . T mobile sent you an OTA update but you had cwm recovery. They will sent it again.

Hey guys,
Can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I restored my phone using LG-P999-V10f back to factory rom, unrooted my phone and now it's back to 2.2.2. I tried updating my phone, but it just tells me "Current version is the latest version."
One other annoying issue I've encountered is that when my display turns off either from inactivity or from pushing the power button once, I can't go back to the phone. Pushing the power button again just brings up a blank screen, which leads to me being forced to take out the battery and reboot.
Any idea what's going on here?
When I quit using my g2x as a daily phone I restored it back to stock and unrooted it also (was on weapon). Everyday I would check for the update and it always said current version is the latest. Basically what I'm saying is, just like the 1st time GB was rolled out ota, not everyone will receive the update.
I finally said screw it and flashed bionix reloaded 1.2.

Did you also restore the stock recovery? Without the stock recovery the OTA will not work. At least that is how I understand it.
If you want a better stock-like experience try the Weapon Rom.

Also depends on your carrier, some don't offer the OTA update.

Oh yeah thanks for pointing that out. I had restored stock recovery on mine.
I just wanted the newer baseband. But life shall go on. I suffer less phone frustration using my sgs4g as the everyday driver anyway.
just nvflash it back to 2.3.3. A lot easier but will wipe everything and make the phone entirely stock gb. Not sure if it changes baseband read through the thread and see.

Any chance you could point me to link to the file for it? Is it a "restoreable" version that looks completely factorylike? Planning to eBay this phone to the next owner.
Much appreciated.

Is that for 2.3?
ETA: NVM, it does. I'm going to give it a shot in a bit. Thanks!
Dumb question. How do I install the APX zip file in that guide???
ETA: Figured it out, didn't need to install it. Forgot that I'd already done it here.
Phone's now update to 2.3.3, stupid black screen of death that appears when I try to turn my screen on is gone!
One last question. Is 2.3.3 the most updated version of Gingerbread available? Is there a more updated version out there I should install to?
Once the baseband has been updated you can no longer use the LG Updater to update the rom as it checks the baseband. If the baseband is a later version then expected for the rom it will not update.
You need to flash CWM Recovery using NVFlash and then flash the ROM of your choice, whether it is a stock rom or a custom rom.
Had a problem this morning while trying to update the phone. Just will go through the procedure I went through.
Went to settings and then to about and then just went to update. Downloaded no problem then was prompted to update so selected yes. Phone rebooted and went into recovery. Now first question is does it matter if I have phone unlocked and rooted and have clockwork mod instead of stock recovery. Because I kept getting errors while trying to install the zip this morning.
Do I have to install stock recovery and then install the zip.
Also will this break the root or will it be fine.
I have searched for this problem and could not find it. But I could of missed it. If someone could point me in the right direction would be greatfull

Dude,
NO, you cannot update or install an RUU if you have in any way changed your system partition (e.g. root) and especially if you have installed a custom recovery.
I'm very surprised that your phone has found the update at all! It normally doesn't do it if it's moded in any way.
To get back to stock you'll have to flash a recovery image of your ROM in stock state using the custom recovery, then use fastboot to flash a stock recovery and finally you have to relock the bootloader!
In any case, have a look at these posts:

Yeah, I can confirm that I have seen a significant improvement in signal levels and quality of reception since I've updated to the new baseband!
Some people say they haven't seen a difference but it has definitely made a difference for me.

Better get back to stock then cheers for the help again
I have a rooted, unlocked SG3 running stock ROM and as of a couple weeks ago, continue to get prompted to install the OTA update (VRAGL7 I believe). Unsurprisingly the install fails when I try to apply it.
My question is, do I have to restore in order to apply this update? And if so, is it possible to instead defer the update indefinitely (since I dont want to restore and there doesnt appear to be anything useful in this update according to their site).
Im also sure someone else must have asked this before, but after browsing the last few pages and searching, I couldnt find anything. Feel free to direct me to a previous response if I missed it.
Thanks in advance!
This has been covered numerous times, but, here you go. If you want to take the update, lock your bootloader, Odin back to stock, take the OTA update, reroot, unlock, etc.
If you don't want to do that, freeze SDM 1.0 with Titanium and the message will stop. One thing though, you will not be able to update OTA until you restore SDM. Which, you shouldn't be updating a rooted phone to begin with unless you want a world of problems.
Good luck!

So to be clear, absolutely no way to apply the update without going back to stock first, correct?
Sorry for posting up whats probably been asked 100 times, but really couldnt track it down with a search and browse of the last few pages.
Thanks again.

I did not have to do all that...
I used Mobile Odin Pro to Pre-Inject Root into the OTA Update before flashing it, then I flashed the latest modem immediately after flashing the OTA update.
I didn't lose Root or Unlocked Bootloader status..
Best part of it was... I didn't need my PC to do any of it...
The following thread is the one you should read in detail..

Make sure that you read it and pay attention very carefully. I tried to do the same exact thing and had problems. Had to Odin back to stock. I think my problem was that I was running a custom kernel. Anyway I got the unauthorized software message and could only get into stock recovery and download mode.
Guess I will read the thread myself and see where I screwed up at.

Hello everyone,
It's my first time witnessing this issue, I do have a Samsung Galaxy S 4G. So I decided to upgraded Eclairs to Gingerbread. Which I did.
Somehow I downloaded the CM7 ROM in the SGS 4G section, I have flashed it and now everytime I click "reboot system now", it's just putting me back to CWM Recovery over and over again. Now I got tired of it, so I tried flashing the SlimBean in hopes of making my device work the way they should, but it's the same result. When I cleared data, flashed the ROM and Gapps and when I click "reboot system now", It shows the boot screen but then it transferred me back to recovery. I don't really know what to do.
Urgent help needed. Thank you all.
can you acess into download mode?

Yes I can, also tried it with CM9, same results it shows recovery everytime. I need some help. :crying:
You say you went from Eclair (Did this phone even come with that? I thought it started with Froyo. Huh. At least, mine did.) to Gingerbread. Is the Gingerbread you started with CM7, or did you start with one that actually has normal GB bootloaders first? Because if you haven't yet, as with any major bootlooping issue, you'll want to use a proper GB one-click. If you failed to double-flash one of those to get the GB bootloaders earlier, do that ASAP. And hope hard that they come.
You are missing the boot loader if you went straight to Gingerbread. Use Heimdall One Click to flash to Gingerbread. Also click on the bootloader option as well when you flash.

Can anyone tell me this guide works on starting from a CM7 Rom. I don't get it at all. Since it started from Stock Froyo.
Like others, I foolishly accepted the OTA. Now no matter what I do, phone will only boot into CWM v.6.0.0.4. The ***** is, I can't access download mode, or adb. Any help would be graciously welcomed.
When you try to go into download mode by holding volume up and then plugging in USB what happens?
It goes to the LG screen and wont do anything til I turn it off.
Actually it stops at the LG screen and then goes right back to CWM. In CWN I can flash a ROM or restore a back up, but after is says I was successful & I reboot it goes right back to CWM

Sounds like parts of the ota went through and now it's messed up. Maybe try flashing back to stock 4.2.2 to get a clean start.

Thanks, much! Got fresh install of stock d80010d(4.2.2 At&T).:good: Now I have a new dilemma. Have followed every guide I could find, but not able to install any version of custom recovery. Have tried on 2 different machines, Win 7 64 bit, and a brand new laptop w/Win7 32 bit. And yes I have rooted.
