Hi,
so it has been a while since I last visted xda.
I have my i9003 still with Froyo and I am not so willing to update to gingerbread (should I do so?), but I deperately want a proper call recorder.
So, is there a call recorder for froyo?
Will this work on Froyo?
Code:

If not, should I update to gingerbread? May I brick my phone updating? Will I lose my data and apps? And most importantly - is gingerbread using more energy from the battery or is it more battery-saving?
Thanks a lot.
No, This will not work with Froyo. This is for Gingerbread only with custom kernel.
Yes, You will loss your data and apps if you upgrade your phone via Kies or Odin.
I suggest you to upgrade via Odin. Kies is OTA so you need stable internet connection.
Use apps like MyBackupPro or Titanium to back up your contacts, sms and apps.
In my experience battery life is better in Gingerbread than Froyo.
All you have to do is some tweaks to make it better which are well mentioned on the forum.
successfully updated to gingerbread, thanks

I was successfull in upgrading my I5801 (India) to I5800XXJPB for I5800 EUROPE.
Followed the same procedure as given in first page of this post.
But, It was stuck at samsung logo.
after leaving it for long enough time (3 mins) to boot, I double pressed home (OK) button which brought up my home screen.
Then factory reset is done and rebooted the phone by removing battery...
so far so good except a WiFi issue. When phone sleeps Wifi is getting disabled even though WiFi Sleep policy is set to Never. Trying to fix it...

An official Upgrade was available for I5801 (Indian version of Samsung Galaxy Apollo) through Kies. If you find a problem updating you can always use Odin Flashing tool to do the job.
Happy upgrade.
Hey all...this is my first Android phone (coming from a long line of BB's) so please bear with me.
I managed to root my phone a few weeks ago using the instructions found on this site and it worked great! I wanted to update to Gingerbread 2.3.3 and found the "easiest" way to do so here:
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-up...-to-gingerbread-2-3-3-firmware/#comment-10119
Downloaded odin, flashed the ROM and everything seemed to work fine. I wont bore you guys with reading everything on that page, but it seems that that particular version was a bit buggy....especially with the missing dialed calls in the call log.
Now, I read another post as per the link below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146145
Is this the same version as I already downloaded? I just want to avoid the same issue with the call log.
Basically, all I want to do is to update my phone to the latest version of Gingerbread, the EASIEST way possible, and to get the most STABLE and best performing version. If I could avoid all the bloatware, then thats a plus!
I dont really care about rooting, or any other fancy features. I just want a good performing, quick and stable phone.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
download dsexton's modified build.prop and it will be more responsive, smoother and faster
Problem is that none of the gb roms out right now are official releases. They are leaks so they are supposed to be buggy. The devs here are working hard to get a full gb rom with recovery support asap.

I have i9003 with Froyo 2.2.1 that i want to upgrade to gingerbread.
Q1. Which version of gingerbread is less buggy 2.3.4 or 2.3.6 because i saw threads that XXKPQ 2.3.6 has camera bugs?
Q2. I downloaded XXKPQ from here is it ok and will i be able to upgrade future updates from Kies and can i root it?
Q3. If iam installing custom ROM or kernels that are available here on XDA will i be able to upgrade future updates from Kies?
Q4. Can i downgrade my firmware to 2.2.1 if i dont like the gingerbread or having some problems with it?
Q5. Will my applications move if i upgrade?
I will be thankful to you guys if you can help me in this

Hey bro pls search the forum before posting new threads
And ive used xxkpq and had no probs...and since it has most mods and themes id recommend you to go with it...
First you will have to flash xxkpe ONLY then fladh xxkpq or your phone will bootloop..
Yes you will b able to get update from kies
Yes you can root xxkpq
If you install custom roms and kernels you will not b able to upgrade via kies but you can always revert to stock xxkpq and upgrade
Yes you can always downgrade to 2.2.1
Yes you will lose all your data including contancts msgs and applications so make a backup of your contacts
And pls next time search the forum as all these questions have been answered

I can also said that kpq has no bugs at all when it comes to camera!
Lucasred, XXKPQ camera has no bugs but the problem is its video recording. Dark video recording, Brightness/Contrast has no effect on recording whatsoever. Video recording indoor is worst compare to XXKPE
I think the Video recording thing has to do with the settings or might be due to the auto brightness compensation algorithm for the stock camera app.
Hi Guys.
I've flashed my Galaxy S2 with ICS Resurrection 1.0 ROM and realized that it is not exactly what I was looking for.
I have multiple problems with the phone - sometimes I need to reboot it few times every day as it is loosing 3g, no gps, apps force to close..
I'd love to go back to factory UK Generic Gingerbread Stock ROM. I didn't take a note of the original ROM that was there before.
There is loadz of ROMs available for download and I don't want to brick it...
Is there any way how I can actually identify which ROM is right for my phone?
By IMEI, SSN...?
Thanks a million for your help!
I've had problems with Simplistic ROM too (Email, Exchange Services and Messaging apps keep crashing), and I can't even post in the thread until I get 10 posts lol!
Think you may have to keep with stock but go for ICS, not sure if it's possible to go back to Gingerbread?

Hi there!
I'm sure I can go back to Gingerbread. The only thing is that I'm not sure about the firmware. Will any generic UK S2 ROM do the job or maybe it has to meet some hardware revision requirements?
Hi, i would like to upgrade my infuse currently running with a 2.2.1 android version.

I am biased, and there is no way to tell you the best ROM (very subjective).
Here is a recent review of the big three ROMs for this device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60489687&postcount=1054
Note that there was an unofficial build of CarbonROM that fixes the wakelock issue (as well as the datadata issue that was also patched in the other two ROMs).
To backup the original ROM, all you need is your recovery (CWM). but if you want to back up on an app-by-app basis (which is not what your question asks), the gold standard seems to be Titanium Backup.
Be sure to back up your EFS as well.
