hello, i recently used Revolutionary To get S-OFF and it worked and i now have root, i just recently turned S-OFF back ON but i still have root acess? so my question is will i still be able to receive OTA updates here's some info
My Hboot is: 0.98.0000 ( it used to be 0.98.0002 Before S-OFF)
Baseband version: 20.b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M

As long as you have the stock ROM, yes.
@amidabuddha: O yes, I almost forgot about that. Stock recovery is needed too.
I think you need a Stock recovery as well. Otherwise you can get stuck in a bootloop.
Sent from my Desire S
thanks for the reps, however when i try to go into recovery it says security warning?
Then you most probably have stock recovery.
Hi again guys, i just received OTA update to 2.3.5 on tmobile and i click installed, then the phone restarts but the security warning is still on at the top and it says fastboot? so im guessing this is because im rooted still with S-ON? but i have no idea how un root now i used the root method here: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
any advice guys

Search for "security warning" in the forum, there are couple of threads and one of them has the solution as far as I remember
ive been searching for hours now and still cannot find the solution i checked in ROM manager it says ive got CWM 5.02.0 recovery, but it wont boot in to recovery still, just keeps saying Security warning, if someone could point me in the direction of a guide to flash to stock recovery back i would appreciate it as i should then be able to OTA?

Got it to work, needed the XE ruu, so i downloaded and ran "RUU_Pyramid_LE_HTC_Europe_1.72.401.1_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_214840_signed.exe",
Everything worked fine, was back on GB and S-ON. Then I updated the OTA update to ICS, and installed it. Now it won't boot. Just the HTC splash screen, then rebooting again. Can't see the boot animation, just the white screen with green "hTC".
I have booted into bootloader and fastboot, tried boot into recovery, but that didn't work it just rebooted again (and I don't have a recovery installed). I tried "Factory reset" but it just rebooted again. It does not get passed the splash screen. Any help?

This is what it says in the HBOOT and FASTBOOT.
Any tips on what to do? It will be greatly appreciated.
Edit: saw another thread, maybe the firmware is too old? I thought it got updated with the RUU, but maybe it doesnt? To install a new firmware do i just adb push it to the sd card? As mentioned above I can't get into recovery and mount sd-card.
Ok, whats your CID?
The base rom you needed to install for OTA update was 1.73.401.4 not 1.73.401.1
Did you have s-off??
It's not the FW as it's updated in the OTA - do a factory reset and you should be fine (although you'll lose your data)
@SquithyX: My CID is 11111111, unless it got reset after running the ruu
I had S-OFF but set it to ON, needed to send it in for rep.
@EddyOS: I can't factory reset, when I press it in BOOTLOADER it just get stuck in a boot loop again. I don't have a custom recovery installed due to me beeing S-ON
Also, thanks for help
Are you sure you flashed 1.73.401.1 rom???
Your CID should be the same
If you did, it looks like you need to s-off (not easy now but can be done)
Install 1.73.401.4 GB ROM
Then apply OTA ICS update
thanks, will try to get s-off again? Do you have a guide to get s-off from bootloader/fastboot? I searched around for it but did not get any results
Its not very nice as it uses the HTCDev system by here you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21922297#post21922297
You need to downgrade your firmware and install the 1.73.401.4 ROM, from there you will have a smooth upgrade to ICS.
Thanks very much, will give it a go in the morning.
Hi
I've recently bought the Sensation XE which was SIMLOCK to T-mobile network.
I've follow this tutorial to root and remove simlock.
[Guide] to Installing S-off, Unlocking, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Now when I try to do software update to Android 4 OTA from HTC I can download the update and when phone reboot it freezes with " ! " on the screen.
After this I have to remove the battery and power on the phone and it boots in Android 2.3.4
Can someone tell me how to upgrade to ICS from HTC ?
Have you set your CID/MID correctly?
No, I've stop after step3. and didn't set CID because I've rooted the phone and remove simlock so I can use SIM Card from other GSM provider.
Do I have to continue to step 4 ?
You have to have the stock recovery installed on your Sensation. It will not flash with Clockwork Mod Recovery or any other custom recovery.

OK, so lets start from the beginning...
Which ROM are you currently running on? Did you flash a new RUU? If so, you will also need to change your CID/MID to get the new update
In software information there is:
Android version 2.3.4
HTC Sense 3.0
Software number 1.73.401.4
Kernel version 2.6.35.13-g2299e28
[email protected] #1
Baseband version 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
Build number 1.73.401.4 CL161971 release-keys
I didn't install custom RUU.
In a process of removing SIMLOCK I've also follow this tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
metod 2.
I got a question cause I am not really sure from your first post. Did you download the OTA update via a notification for the update on your Sensation? Or did you download the OTA file to your computer either from XDA or another site?
I've download the OTA update via a notification for the update on my Sensation.
Guys
Any idea?
I've fix it!
I've flash it with RUU_PYRAMID_LE_HTC_Europe_1.73.401.4_Radio_10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2_release_220036_signed.exe
and after that I've update to ICS with OTA update.
Thanks for your help!
Rooted phones can't update to stock via OTA. During the root process your recovery has changed from stock to custom. That's why you got ! and can't install the update. Installing RUU your recovery came back to stock again and that's why you successfully installed the update after that.
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am having HTC Sensation XE with
Android 2.3.4
HTC Sense 3.0
Software number 1.73.707.4
Baseband version 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
I have rooted my phone with Revolutionary tool and I am able to use ABD command.
Now the problem is I got the latest android 4.X upgrade via the upgrade utility and it failed to upgrade. (Got ! symbol and restarting the mobile came back to 2.3.4 Android)
As per the instruction I tried running the RUU_Pyramid_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.707.1_Radio_10.43a.9007.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198358_signed.exe file to fix the issues. (I am from Malaysia, so I selected the Asia files).
But I ended up with a error stating that my battery power is less than 30% and it failed. I tried the exe file with the mobile in fully booted way and in the boot loader level (by holding power button + volume key). But nothing did the magic.
From the log I am to see that some thing is getting failed. "<T002411><DEBUG><OUT>- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: Permission denied (13) -</OUT>"
Attached the log file also.
Please help me.
Thanks

But i have, i've tried several options, Charger Only, Disk Drive, HTC Sync, but none of them helped, not even turning on/off usb debugging mode.
so is there anywhere step by step instructions how to flash ? i couldn't find it
Does anyone have this software version on their device?
Software Version: 1.63.531.2 710RD.....is that normal?
I have that same version. It's "normal" if you updated to the most recent build that T-Mobile stopped the OTA for. The next OTA update starts April 9th I believe.
R u sure about that?

Yes, I'm running that now, rooted and with some of the bloatware deleted. That is the latest released T-Mobile ROM for the MT4GS.
R u sure about another update on the 9th?
The OTA seems to have started rolling out early,.... many have been able to DL it today. And even the OTA ROM has the 71 ORD at the end of the version, so I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
So since there is an update today there will not be one on the 9th?

No, there won't be another one on the 9th. Today's is just the update that was supposed to start on the 9th:

just grab a ClockworkMod recovery image, here is one place you can get it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17384145&postcount=7
then fastboot flash it the same way you flashed your unlock_code.bin to unlock the bootloader. then you can boot into recovery and flash either superuser or the ROM of your choice.
keep in mind that if you flash a ROM, you may have to refer here:

You have the latest and greatest software which means there may not be a method that works for you yet. You're locked for the time being. Juopunutbear might work, though I've never tried it.

Hello all,
I have almost the same problem after I upgraded my phone to 3.33.401.6.
First after the upgrade from Gingerbread to ICS my WiFi stopped working but the hotspot was working, so I unlock my phone and root it(mat be) and I install the WiFi fix and everything was ok.
Then the update came and I tried to install it gave me error an then I tried to update it manually from the download folder in my device using the custom recovery and since that time the WiFi and hotspot are displaying error.
When I try to install stock ROM (RUUxxx.exe) it doesn't work and this display on phone security fail and on the PC error(155).
Now even when I try recovery it gives me HTC white screen.
Pleas tell me how I can do to solve this issue.

Hello. So I have an HTC One S on the Telus network. My bootloader is tampered / unlocked. My carrier came out with an update OTA_Ville_U_TELUS_WWE_1.84.661.9-1.70.661.1_release_265425nbzfb5rjuc5cfhg0 that I was able to download but it will not install.

I relocked the bootloader but it just kept restarting into the bootloader, no recovery. I might be missing something but it just won't load into the OS now with it locked. I am using the ville-superboot hack atm...maybe i broke it...
Unfortunately i Cant help you with that issue. But can i ask when you downloaded that file. From I have desperately been looking for a stock os for my telus one s.
NVM: Found your post, Now all i need is an RUU for telus. This might be your issue too. is your rom stock? This is only an update so You probably need to be running the RUU rom.
I have a nandroid backup of the stock rom in a .zip file. I don't know how to make it into an RUU or else I would. I am on a stock rom also. I have it rooted and a custom recovery but I didn't load a custom rom on it. Just use the super.boot method to load the OS. Kinda works like a tethered jailbreak.

OK so for you TELUS subscribers out there, this is for you. I have a nandroid backup of a stock Telus system. This system is on the lasted update from Telus OTA_Ville_U_TELUS_WWE_1.84.661.9-1.70.661.1. The only thing I have done is obviously unlocked the bootloader and flashed custom recovery to make the backup. I have also included a stock boot.img and a stock recovery.img as well as the actual OTA update (don't think it's needed but it's there).
So, if you can get into the bootloader, you can revert back to a stock rom on TELUS with this backup.
I have tested it so I know that it works.
If you have any questions let me know
The link is to my Dropbox and its been shortened so just copy and paste it into your browser - goo.gl/cyDrg -
Cheers!
P.S. Give it about an hour or so to upload. I live in Canada and our upload sucks

If you already have rooted your phone why didn't you make the root permanent? There is no excuse for for not being able to reboot without a PC.
Also, I would suggest not updating by OTA or RUU as it will update the HBoot and you won't be able to flash whatever you want after that.

That was a different issue with the boot.img I was using. That is not the case with this one.
We are you interested in updating via the ota or just making sure your phone is current with everything? You can do either, your best move is to avoid the OTA and do everything manually.
Is there a way to go back to the HBOOT-1.08.0000 if you did do the OTA?

No there is not at this time.
So a few weeks ago I updated my phone on the TELUS network to 1.84.661.9. This changed my HBOOT and RADIO

So because I updated I was told that I can't get root access any longer. Well I was bored so I went to htcdev.com and reunlocked my bootloader, flashed recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.3.1-ville, and flashed TrickDroid_v7.1.0. Let the rom boot into the OS and updated my binarys in SU and they installed fine.
So if you also updated your device OTA and your on TELUS, you are fine...you can still flash custom roms with the new hboot without any issues.
I have added some screenshots
Cheers!
I don't think they showed up in the last post
ota update
Relock bootloader
Reflash stock recovery
Do ota update
Than unlock back
Your done enjoy
no, its the same as you said but before doing OTA run RUU
ota update
Flash back stock recovery
Than relock bootloader
Last remake ota process to install or
Supose to work
