As long as you are S-ON you cant downgrade HBOOT any way...not even by running a RUU
as you are 1.27 HBOOT....you can try JB SOFF noob proof guide here
then once you obtain SOFF you can run any RUU
Also for running RUU ...your cid should match the RUU's otherwise RUU will fail
if you are superCID and SON then any ICS RUU runs
or
if you are superCID and SOFF then ANY RUU will run for you
use JB soff and then you can downgrade you hboot by flashing 1.18 firmware

Need help!!
Has some one met this before? I was trying to downgrade the hboot version and met the error appeared "hboot version is older". My phone is s-on. now the hboot version is 1.27.0000.
My phone was s-off before, one day I upgrade the firmware to 1.27, in order to flash the ICS 4.0.3, after that, I've try to lock back the phone, the command is " fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" and then s-off was changed to s-on, and the hboot version freezed at 1.27.
But now I am trying to downgrade the hboot to 1.18 or older version, but it couldn't crossed the hboot checking.
My phone is HTC_044, I am using Asia WWE RUU to downgrade.
can some one let me kown is there any good way to s-off again?
Appreciated if you can help me resolve this.
You won't be able to change firmware with s-on.
Have a look at this thread for guidelines to return to s-off.

You can't downgrade your hboot with s-on. That really is common knowledge and if you weren't aware of that, I would suggest you do a lot more reading before attempting s-off anyway. I'm sorry to be a **** but you aren't ready.
I'm suggest you to wait until revo come out with the support for your HBOOT version
Hi. Try this method. Read first and if you have any further questions aks there.

This method is NOT for 1.27 hboot.
Isn't running a GB RUU enough to have everything back to a "S-OFFable" setting?
I used an "old" RUU to go back to a revolutionary compatible hboot on a friend of mine's Incredible S (hboot 2.0 to 1.13) and it worked... Is there something I don't know as the reason for this not to work on the Sensation (surely there is... )?
try to do tacoroot to access revolutionary maby it help

i just change cid, but wait maybe i can use ruu to install system!! now it seems ruu work! after i post if i solve or not!!
thank u all i solve all!!!!
This does not downgrade your hboot. The 2.31 RUU also comes with hboot 1.14, which is why you can run it.
aa
what do you get when you are superCID and s-on?
also i wanted to ask a question:
if a flash an ruu will it change the hboot version?
and if it does so how can i downgrade the hboot to flash my stock ruu?
supercid gives you the ability to use any ruu as long as it has the same hboot version or higher
and yes if you use a higher version ruu than your current hboot, it will be upgraded
to downgrade hboot there is a tutorial in the dev section that involves ubuntu
I have a relocked bootloader
Hboot 3.01 and want to run ICS RUU
but it tells me hboot version is wrong
