So i bough betterbatterystats off the market to see if anything would have caused wakelocks and i saw that the stock music player on virtuous rom caused alot ...
Now i wonder if i use a 3rd party media app will it help ? Because my battery drains like crazy ...

I would just try some of the trial or free players for a few days and see if it makes a difference in your battery stats. I use PlayerPro.

I think because every phone is unique in what they have on their sd card, apps they are using, roms running, its best to try on the phone that might be experiencing the problem. I can tell you I don't have excessive wakelocks on my phone with PlayerPro, but you still could.
I did have a mediascannerservice wakelock that was draining my battery bad a month ago and I backed up my sd care and formatted it. Problem went away.
There was a bad media file on the card. PITA because i have a 32 gig card.

Ohh because honestly battery drains while a listen to music infact my phone is kinda like my ipod? And seriously battery fly's away whit screen off im giving it a try whit ankers ..

First question: do you listen to music? If do, then the phone won't sleep while it's playing.
2nd question: what if your kernel wake lock status? That's what matters more.

The phone does not sleep while listening to music ??? Yes i listen alot of music is that a kernel issue ?
I dont think its the kernel tried a few it was the same thing..
Sent From My Sexy Sensation.
Music player should be a partial wakelock I.e. using CPU to control and play music but not using screen. If your listening to music and lock your phone it will not sleep, if it did, chances are music player would stop. And also if you were on about audio out wakelock too, that's so the phone can play notification sounds and system sounds without waking up the screen I believe. So its probably ran alongside the music player to play music when locked. But as far as music player is concerned, any app capable of playing music with the screen off will use a wakelock to do so.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Partial wake locks are not what you want to be concerned about (for the most part). At the top of betterbatterstats, change from partial wake locks to kernel wake locks. That's is what will be eating your battery.
Also,, es phone doesn't sleep when listening to music because decoding the song uses CPU. Like the guy above me said, if the phone slept, then there is no playback.

I did charge it 100% and am sure of that.. Plus i wasnt playing anything and even wi-fi, gps and bluetooth were off..
In battery usage it is even showing as asleep and screen off..
faulty battery buddy it seems....I am also using the same theme as yours and the phone has 2 hrs of on screen time
Ok for you guys having battery life problems Here is what I did .My phone was dead in six hours. After doing this I am at 2% per hours no problems. Even though I have only one sync which is HTC mail on demand I did not set times within the mail app to sync you need to set those parameters to only sync once every two hours in peak hours and one every 6 hours in offpeake time. I found all this out by using better battery stats partial wakelocks and current widget I hope this helps a few people! I unplugged my phone at 8:45 AM yesterday and am at 42% right now so It is running like a champ.
After updating my sensation to android 4.0.3 with sense 3.6, every time after restarting phone i wait too long, and on screen writes: optimizing applications. Is it normal?
Yes, it is. It happens on mine too. Not a lot of apps are optimized for ICS yet... I believe that is why that loading thing shows whenever we boot our devices. I am not sure--- but it happens to everyone. You're not alone.

Having the same problem here - it seems to be caused by a process called "media" that after the phone boots keeps crashing and restarting. If I kill this process the phone acts normally and I get my usual day usage out of the battery.
Just need to find a fix for this "media" process - might try a factory reset later.

I have the exact same problem, I use ARHD but it seems to affect all Sense 3.6 ROM's I've tried including stock. Can you tell me what SD Card you have and do you have a lot of music, photos etc on it?
The issue doesn't occur on Sense 4.0 ROM's.
My workaround was to just disable Media starting automatically using System Tuner (needs root).
Thanks.

Wow. Very similar to me.
I have a 32GB SanDisk Class 4.
700 Music tracks and 200 photos.
This doesn't seem coincidental. Where did you purchase your card from and around what time period?
Amazon, about august last year.
I tried a factory reset last night and formatted the sd card, put no media on it but again that process is restarting again this morning. Its supposed to be migrating the media database... But there's no media for it to migrate...
Might try a different sd card tonight.
Maybe someone could split these posts off in to another thread to see if there's others with the issue?

There is an app called rescan media root that allows you to manually disable or enable this media scanner service. Search Xda for the apk. It saves time, battery and having to factory reset. :3

It drains the battery as it keeps the phone in a wakelock so it doesn't sleep properly.

I'm having a serious battery drain issue with my sensation. I have latest italian BB by OTA update 3.31.401.5
Last night i had the phone with like 80% battery left. Today, 8 hrs later, i go wake up the phone and doesn't wake, and doesn't even boots up. I connect the charger and i have to wait a couple of minutes before it responds to power button.
First thing i do is go and see battery consumption stats, and it displays like 2h57m of use, and 88% of power drained by screen. Now, i know for sure the screen didn't light up for at least 1h before i could get to sleep, and i had used it before to install some apps, play a little cut the rope and fruit ninja and stuff, it had been disconnected for at least 2hrs before i got to bed.
I think it's pretty odd, and i guess it could be an HW problem.
The phone is unrooted and all stock

not likely, i bought a second original battery and shows the same problem
yesterday 30 mins of call drained 20% battery, light use drained the battery in 8 hrs, use i did was 30 mins of call, 20 mins of gaming (a little alchemy and 7 lvls of angry birds space), 6 messages, 1 email. Rest of the time screen off. wifi on for like 10 mins tops, mobile data always off.
Optimus 2x with this kind of usage did 2 days (40 hrs), this one 8 hrs? i refuse to believe it

well i actually have not much of apps installed, and the only ones running in BG are media, google services, whatsapp, maps, touch imput.
Is it normal that with nearly no apps opened i have 309 MB of ram used?
Btw shouldn't be an app problem because i did an hard reset and the problem was still there
other info: the phone tends to get pretty warm. Not boiling hot but when it gets warm i.e. like after a phone call or a web browsing, it stays warm for like even half an hour later

Install Wake Lock Detector to find out which process is hogging your CPU time.
From what I can tell, all the normal startup apps (mesages, facebook, widgets), are using full amount of CPU. All of them. The blue bars were full. That's for the few minutes after startup being 100% usage. Still investigating the random spikes that occurs while using my phone. It's a matter of being able to open and use this app as my phone becomes unresponsive

So I've been running apps and periodically monitoring my CPU. When it starts to get above 80% on both 0 and 1, I check what's up with wakelock detector and it doesn't even list the app I'm using when my cpu spikes like dolphin. It happens often with dolphin, tumblr, games. But they don't appear in wakelock.
The apps that do appear are barely doing anything

What's your battery ?
4 hours is very low. Maybe you need new battery..
And which rom exactly do you use ?
I used Inspiration 1.0.1 for a log time and i had the best battery life on this rom. it works fine with lower CPU/GPU frequency. Vipers 5.0.0 also seems to have nice battery life (i'm on it now).

Hi
After reading about the new dsp tunneling feature I decided to try it. I let my phone play music using poweramp all night. The results was 3.5% of battery every hour, and CPU didn't sleep, it worked at 300mhz all this time. Trying with play music and got same AudioMix wakelock and 300mhz CPU, no deep sleep at all.
My setup is cataclysm with Franco r19. I never used stock so maybe it's the custom rom problem.
Do any of you got it working? Which means deep sleep during music playback with screen off.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk 2
I'm running stock ROM/kernel and Mediaserver is one of the highest battery-consuming voices, close-to compete with screen.
It keeps the phone 100% awake during music reproduction.
Which means dsp audio tunneling doesn't work for you also.
I wanted to ask Google what's the problem but can't find a way that doesn't include phone call. Every time I try "contact us" option I can't choose Nexus device.
That dsp thing was one of the reasons I've bought the Nexus...

hmmm, so it was a lie
wish Google would get called up on stuff, just one would be nice
but all the android sites have to keep their noses brown so they keep getting free stuff
Anybody else ?
Running perfectly with google music as long as one does not activate any EQ settings. Around 2% battery drain per hour
I'm getting the same results as well. I thought it was because of isyncr or something trying to play count but it seems like everyone else is having this issue as well
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I assumed the phone wouldn't deep sleep it would just use less CPU cycles. Now I'm not so sure because I'm finding music streaming to use more or less the same battery as local playback.
