Hi all.
I have a sonim XP3 quest pro. I like it because its tough, the battery lasts 4 weeks and it really is water proof. What i really dont like is his software.
I have been (frustratingly) searching the internet about what can i do about it and found out that:
- Sonim is not making firmware updates
- the core of this phone is Philips Nexperia 5210 with arm9 processor
- there were other phones with this processor ( like sony ericson p990) and run symbian
so my questions are:
Can i install symbian (at least 9.1) on it? If so where can i find it to download? it seems i can't find older versions.
And how do i do it? I'm not an expert....
If its impossible, or not worth it, what can i do? (and don't tell me to throw it away and buy another)
Thanks.
so... my question is not even worth answering....
when you made the "scare-the-noob" video you should add "if you searched everywere and did not find it, don't bother asking. most likely we don't know and we are ashamed to admit that we don't know everything"
a simple "I don't know" would have been more polite than no answering.
thanky you anyway. at least i learned how this forum is willing to help.
lol.
hi, i nned to reflash sonim xp5700. can someone help me?

As a result of the search, he found an effective method. You need to use the Infinity box CM2.
With this program, a backup was made that was successfully installed on another phone. Who will help me to repackage the firmware for a free program?

Hello lads... I am new here and i have a hard time figuring out what to do...
Here it goes.. I bough an Iphone clone almost 1 year ago and i want to flash it.. the problem is that i only know its brand (its a Daxian x999+) and it has WM..
I dont know what tolls to use and furthermore wich OS is compatible... any help will be great
After a quick flick through the forums I'd say you wouldn't have much luck here, particularly as the main focus is HTC Phones. I don't know how compatible the hardware on your phone would be with anything manufactured by HTC. You could always try searching the forums with "Daxian" and see what you can turn up, there seemed to be a little bit of discussion but no real solutions.
Best of luck.
I doubt very much, in fact im pretty sure, that you wont find any roms that will work with your device im afraid, your best friend here is google......
I'm wondering if anybody can help me with rooting a Sharp IS01. It's an Android phone recently released by au in Japan and there is a re-branded model shortly coming out with Docomo.

Please post here if you find out anything. I'm interested in the possibility of upgrading Android on new Sharp phones. Especially if this can help use the gadget (not really a keitai) on another operator, not just DoCoMo.
Don't know if it's locking or just plain incompatibility, but the IS01/SH-10B seems to be stuck with 1.6 and the Netwalker, for example, with Ubuntu 9.04. Same thing goes about older devices running WM.
IS01 has been rooted.
Have you got anymore details or a link?
Can't you use Google?
It's possible to install a ubuntu version on this device?
I tried to find something on google, but i find only a few links to xda forums, where someone ask about this device, and many links to articles to the launch of this device on japan, etc etc, but nothin useful.
Got something but it's in japanese and translated pages are a little weird (bad translata I think).
I wonder if someone here will start some project....
New year, good news
Someone ported froyo on this device, but like usually tha page is full japanese so I can't understand nothin.
Use google translate
www44. atwiki .jp /is01 rebuild/
The adress is modified because I'm a newbie and i can't post links, but I think this news will be userfull fot the is01 owners.
I hope mods can forgive me this time (and even my horrible english)
hi, sorry to post it here, but probably any of you guys here have experience with sharp galapagos from softbank? the 3d naked eye is really tempting. however, i`ve been googling for a while and it seems like i can not do anything with it. tightly seal, locked.... is it? has it been unlocked?
thanks
I just got an HTC HD 2 today from a friend, and it already has a version of android on it. I dont know how to replace the android files without messing up the phone. Can someone help or walk me through this?
i know this aint help but have u tried the hd2 section
also is your name from coheed and cambria lol!
I have looked through the section and I cant find anything on how to replace the files. Yes it is. The greatest band ever!
sry i dont know anything about the hd2 and yes sir you are correct i just saw them in dallas for the neverender tour 4 hours of nothing but coheed it was amazing my 3rd show i may add new orleans, little rock, and dallas!
you shld be able to ask the same question in that thread im sure someone will be able to help
If your friend was so generous to give you that nice piece of hardware I´m sure he can guide you to replace the Android OS with that Microsoft crap. Your friend has invested some time and energy in the modification of his phone so he would be interested in having you enjoying it, too, wouldn´t he?
To be able to help it would be useful to know if android rom is nand (ie has replaced the original wm6.5 os) or is running from sd card.
When you boot up the phone, does magldr load?
I would suggest you do go over to the hd2 forum and look at the sticky threads, tey have all the info you will need to change/update android to something newer or even change os completely to say wp7?
If your droid is nand, it is very simple to update, just head over to the HD2 nand forum
Cheers.
Thank you everybody for being kind and not throwing noob slanders at me. The friend who gave me the phone actually bought it off of someone who put android on it haha so this nice phone is a hand-me-down for sure.
hi folks, i used to come to this forum all the time back in the day when i had my original G1 and then my HD2 and other phones (i dropped off the face of the planet and also forgot my password to my old account, the captcha system is horrendous BTW)
my question is is there any root options and custom rom options for the motorola DROID PRO (verizon)/XPRT (sprint?) -- YES, i've searched and any information i've found is pretty old and seems outdated. i rather not risk bricking my phone with something that no long works. so if someone could pretty please point me in the right direction i would appreciate it so much.
other questions: if rooting is possible on my droidpro -- what custom roms can i use on it?
thank you so much for any help you send my way.
I have a knowledge of computers, that being said, I have none of the Android system. A friend unlocked my Lenovo A750, but I am still unable to use Google Play.
So I thought it was time to learn how to do this unlocking and rooting thing myself.
OK simple question: how do I start? any web sites that take someone who only knows that if you push the right number of buttons in the right order you can talk with your friends.. ( if they have a telephone)
Really, I have no idea even what to ask. So,I need to learn from the beginning. TIA for your advice. I saw posts to tell me how to do things for specific phones, but I do not know the terminology, or where to begin; in other words it all over my head.
PS I am an expat in China, so please give multiple URls, and answers as I will probably be locked out of many that you supply.
I would really like to be able to unlock a cheepo "Sunup" Chinese phone I can afford to brick. ( learned that word from an old Iphone I had stop working for me when I tried to unlock it) Then work on the Lenovo, and finally on a Motorola ME 525 ( the Motorola is the wife's... Id just as soon brick my Lenovo and several others belonging to me, than her's.... the consequences are understood for doing that) .
