Haven't seen any tip here so i just posted one. This is just a small tip how you can add customized Notification sounds on your phone if you are already boring to those default notification sound. This method is very simple and straight forward.
If you explore into your SDCARD you will see folder \media\audio\notifications. From here you can put any mp3 notification sounds, just make sure you have a tag in the mp3 so it will be ready by phone.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Download the attached sample file and put in \media\audio\notifications folder
When you go to Settings --> Sounds --> Notifications you should now see the Transformers sound. You can now set it also on SMS settings to change the notification sound.
If anyone find this as a dup, you are free to delete this thread.
great tips,man.
you can just create a folder "notifications" on sdcard, then put some custom notification sounds in it, then reboot, after that you can find your custom sounds when set notification sound.
and sounds on sdcard won't work when the phone is connected with PC and you choose "USB storage" mode......
so i always put my custom notification sounds and ringtones in the rom's zip. "/system/media/audio/ringtones/" & "/system/media/audio/notifications/"

I'm lost 'sms options' in from the list too.
and only sms notification is on 'home'.
any clues?
just enable notification in your sound screen.it will work for sure..
I've got the same problem but It's not the solution
i had the same problem with sms notification, but i found a solution.
i made some changes in registry, but (fortunately) i noted down all. the problem was with SMS-threading function (in WM 6.1), what i disabled because it's terrible. after i tried to re-enable it, the sms notification (sound,screen message,led blinking) came back, yippee!
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSAvailable"=dword:1
don't forget the soft reset after you changed the registry.
yes you are right
The issue becomes to change from threade to normal simple sms accounts so back to the normal or please reflash your rom or... make a hardreset.. hahahaha and for the enxt time be more smart like this guy and read more.... oh and search please... use that tool i had a tuttorial for it on my signature.
Hi,
Is there a way to have the icons in the Start menu lined-up horizontally and vertically? Now, by default, they are arranged hexagonally
i would also like to know about this
Yep:

Maybe I didn't make myself clear
What I mean is shown below:
Currently Start menu looks like

This would be preferable.
OK, I'v found something. A small configurable application called XTask, download link here.
Btw, if you don't know where to start, just click on the taskbar and drag the line down. The XTask Settings allow you to configure its internal menu and also replace the Start Menu entirely with its own diagonal icon layout. It arranges icons by same strange order, probably like the original Start Menu, but maybe I'll find how to change that.
Alternatively in its settings set it so its file manager starts when clicking the Start Menu icon and browse to Windows\Start Menu\Programs directory. It is normally alphabetically sorted and you can arrange shortcuts to various subfolders. It can be even more easily done with Total Commander or from PC.
And for phone settings click on Control.
Evening,
Just recently installed Mango RTM on my Omnia 7 and unsure how to set custom ringtones.
If I go into system, ringtones + sounds there only choices are the generic ringtones that came preloaded with the phone...
Anyone figured out how to set a MP3 as a ringtone.
Thanks,
On Mango you can do ringtones from *.mp3 and *.wma file by Zune, but you must first:
- take your sounds file for up to 39 seconds,
- this sound file may not occupy more than 1 mb,
- his format is only *.mp3 or *.wma,
- not copy-protected,
and now:
1. copy file to phone by Zune,
2. in collection in the Zune find this file and click him right mouse and click "Edit" - you see context menu same as in the screenshot but in your language,
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. in "Species" (on the screenshot it's "Gatunek") write from big letter "Ringtone" and click "Ok",
4. now only synchronize your phone with your computer and this file should be the first from the top in "Ringtones + sounds".
Just a small little thing I'm trying to fix.
When I boot up my Xperia M phone, a notification pops up informing me that "Mobile Data is Disabled".
I never use mobile data, so I would prefer not to see this notification every time I boot up the phone.
So my question is; is it possible to disable this notification from appearing when I boot up the phone?
It's not that annoying. But I see this as an opportunity to learn more about how the Android system works. Do I have to edit a config file in the root folder, or something like that?

Hi!
I've been having a problem with my Samsung J701M in regards to Notification Sounds. I try to use a custom sound for my Notifications and Ringtone, and the phone doesn't recognize the files at all.
I copy the file to the Notifications and the Ringtones folders in my main storage, but it simply won't recognize the sounds. I tried MP3, OGG, WAV and even MIDI files, and they won't show up in the Sound and vibration section of the Settings.
The only way I've found to use custom sounds is using Zedge, and even then, I can only use sounds they have on their databases, and not in my SD card or main storage.
Is there I way I can make the phone to detect my sound files? Oddly enough, when I try to set the sound through FX File Explorer it shows me an error:
Cannot set alert: file not in media database.
