i got CWM loaded but I don't see the option to make a backup. Doesn't seem to have all the options :S
You sure you actually booted into cwm vs. the stock recovery? One of the options should be labeled backup/restore if you are running cwm.

I'm on 2.3.3 ,UXKH2 is what it says.
Unless you are running a custom kernel, you don't have cwm. You have stock 3e recovery. The old update.zip won't work on 3e recovery, it produces a signature verification error.

Okay,I realize that,so how do I install CWM?
Go to this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989 follow the instructions and overwrite the 3e recovery with the modded one that doesn't have signature checks. Then all you have to do is flash the update.zip as you tried to do before. You have to flash the zip twice to actually boot into the cwm recovery.

So I hit start and now my phone just reboots and shows AT&T splash screen continuously. What did I do wrong.

I read through the 12 pages about sk8erwitskil's Touch Recovery 6.0.1.0 and from what I can see, you can download the zip & flash using the rom manager / TOUCH cwm version from the store?
I can see the obvious benefits in the time it takes to do a nandroid backup alone!
But if you already have Touch v. 5x,is it still recommended for rogers sgh - i727R, and are there other benefits? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Thank

Thanks Droid, can you say why you prefer it, and am I correct in thinking that you can download the zip & flash using Koush's Touch cwm on the rogers i727R?
I haven't had any problems with the version that I'm using & I had read that some people did have problems with 6.0.1.0, which I believe have been corrected?

I like the interface because it seems faster and more responsive. And yes you can just flash zip and reboot

It will replace it. The difference is the cwm v/s skater version is on his you scroll down and pick each item on the cwm version you touch the item you want. I accidentally hit format emmc and screwed my phone. Lol. Got it back thru Odin.

stay away from rom manager, on most custom roms when you hit the power button to shutdown the phone there is a "boot into recovery" option

And if that option isn't there an app called quickboot will do the job nicely. I agree with staying away from ROM manager if at all possible. You'll learn more about your phone plus have less chance of screwing it up.

I thought that it was flashed when we rooted my phone? Anyway, I found it.... It's on the internal memory... So I imagine that I can use touch 6.0.1.0 and flash it from the internal, or should I move it to the external sd card?
There's no problem with flashing roms with TWRP I gather, at least not from what I've read?
I kinda like the non manual way of getting into recovery

internal or external doesnt matter, if you are already have a custom recovery just install the zip file for cwm 6, if you want twrp just use goo manager since you are already rooted, either one works just fine its just a matter of preference, plus you can switch back and forth between the recoveries as many times as you wish just by reinstalling the recovery.
fyi: someone did make a tar file for twrp to install on stock and a zip file to flash w/cwm, its somewhere in the thread for twrp, once i find it ill post in the skyrocket sticky. theres also an .img file to use with an emulator or adb from twrp site

I've already flashed sk8er's 6.0.1.0 & when I rooted my phone, I used TWRP & tar with cd's guidance. When you say "reinstalling the recovery", do you mean by just flashing the alternate recovery with whichever one you are using ie; flash TWRP if you're using cwm & vice versa?

All of a sudden yesterday my phone started boot looping while I was running Invisiblek's CM10. I finally got that sorted out, and used ODIN to get me to the rooted version of the stock ROM. However, now when I flash custom ROMs, I get a boot loop and have to restore back to the rooted version of stock. I've tried Invisiblek's CM10 again, Bean's... oh, and my CWM background is missing and is just black. I've also noticed(not sure if this could be why) that when I go to the mount section under CWM, both system and data keep defaulting to unmounted. Any suggestions?

I updated to MF1, and it changed my recovery from ClockWork Touch to a much more basic recovery mode (rom manager says CWR and TWRP are both installed). I tried to flash basic clockwork using rom manager and as it reboot I got a message saying "software not authorized" and it would not boot.
I just used ODIN to flash the VRALEC boot chain which allowed the phone to boot. I still seem to have still have MF1. Step 6 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 says to then install the correct boot chain, but i dont see one for MF1 yet.
I then tried ODIN to flash CWR from the the above post with the same results (had to re odin vralec).
1. Should I ODIN the VRBMD3 boot chain in the mean time?
2. How do I get ClockWork Recover for MF1, touch or regular?

1. No, you don't have to change the bootchain. Vralec is just an old ics bootchain and should run fine.
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096735
Use ez recovery to flash the most recent CWM recovery, touch or non-touch should both work great. Don't use rom manager anymore until it's updated, that's the second report I've seen of it doing that.

My phone has been soft bricked after trying to flash the latest dkp kernel. I was using philz touch recovery and I tried to flash dkp kernel 3-20 build, and I got an error during flashing saying that it couldn't decompress the ramdisk. So I tried to flash the older version of dkp that I was using, and it failed to flash! I have never had problems like this before. So now my phone will not boot to system or go back to recovery. I can only access download mode. I was using CM11 with the ML1 modem and dkp kernel before my phone got bricked. It really frustrates me that my phone just randomly decided to freak out and brick itself, because I've been doing the same thing forever and never had any problems flashing a kernel. Please tell me how I can fix my phone. Thank you.

You have to be able to boot into recovery, make sure you hold the volume up + home for an extended period of time.
If you can't, you need to Odin the stock rom and try again.

The ODIN to stock did not work correctly. Maybe I need a different MF1 tar file. Can someone point me to a link for it? I have searched an can't find a completely stock MF1 file.

That's the exact one that I just used. It didn't seem to restore to stock with that.

Don't know what else to tell you, it's a completely stock file.
Recovery, system, kernel, and bootloader.
If you can't boot into recovery it must've not flashed perfectly or something else is wrong, like your hardware.

I highly doubt that it is a hardware issue. I just tried to ODIN again and I'm in the same situation. One thing that I have noticed is that it tries to reinstall the MTP driver after using ODIN and it fails to install.
EDIT: Nevermind. I was able to enter recovery this time. I just did a factory reset. Hopefully it boots now. I will report back with results.
UPDATE: Ok. Everything seems fine now. Used casual to root and unlock bootloader again. Then installed PhilZ Touch Recovery. Now I am making a backup, and I am going to flash a Kit Kat Rom.
