Mt4gs any kernels for stock ROM 1.65? - General Questions and Answers

Good morning. Is anyone aware of kernels for mt4gs on the stock ROM v 1.65? I've read pretty much every relevant thread in the mt4gs dev forum, but can't post there sadly.
I'd really like to use the UV6 kernel, but it indicated it won't work with stock ROM 1.55, so I assume that applies to 1.65 ROM also.
I know that with S-ON Unlocked, I have some alternate ROM flashing options, but the camera & 1080p video recording are important to me. It sounds like these aren't fully functional on non-stock from everything I've read.
I'd like to do a UV kernel to save battery, which is really my only complaint about mt4gs. Also letting the snapdragon all the way up tp 1.5ghz would be great too.
Thanks for any help!

[Q] What ROM should I choose?

Hi, I know there's no such thing as the "best" ROM, it depends entirely on taste and on what you're expecting. So, I'm searching for a 2.3.4, stable, as fast as possible ROM with no particular tweaks if not for increasing speed and memory...should I simply go with a deodexed stock or is there something better speedwise? Thank you in advance!

I would also like to get this tip...Speed increase and more available memory, maybe some tweaks in the notification bar, but besides that I would like to keep my phone pretty much in stock form.
If speed tweaks are all you want with very high stability, check out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065392
His ROM (When he reposts it) is very stable and very fast.
Install that with James Bond or Netarchy kernel and you'll have a very fast/stable setup.
Ok, great, thanks!

Thanks for the tip! That ROM seems to be exactly what I want.
Can I add shortcuts or power controls to the pull down notification bar with a separate app, or should they be cooked to the ROM? If I can could somebody point me to the right directionwhere I could find this kind of separate app? Thanks!
If you want something a little more customized, but still pretty stock, you could try the infin1ty ROM. I've been using it for a while now, it is very quick and very stable. The dev is also very involved and posts regular updates about new features and bug reports.

I would suggest you to use SupeASOP v8.0.
I find that rom is the best after i tried different roms.
Cm7 is good but not to my expectation.
I would recommend you to try SupeASOP v8.0 with kernel of Netarchy Nexus - 1.3.0.12-cfs-2.3.4-universal (Universal for non-stock 2.3.4 roms).

I don't know much about your ROM, but there was/is an issue where you have to have your volume all the way down before you start a video chat on talk. Some ROMs have it fixed, some don't. Also, some ROMs have an issue where only the back camera works with video chat.
I know most devs are working on incorporating the fix for talk into their ROMs. If it is a deal breaker for you, take a look around at different ROMs, we are very fortunate to have many active and talented devs working on various ROMs.

Custom roms worry

I've S offed and rooted. I'm a bit skeptical of installing a rom. My concerns are of battery life, stability, and receiving calls. Is there any rom out there for the desire s now that is atleast 95% completed with a few bugs?

For me, LBC v0.5.3 works flawlessly - 100% complete in my opinion. No stability issues for me whatsoever.. No crashes, FCs etc, no issues making or receiving calls, smoothness better than stock and battery life same/better than stock. It's a no brainer IMHO.

I'm waiting for an AOSP rom (CM 8hopefully), because that's my preference, but for a sense rom LBC is the best I've used.
Does the rom need you to flash kernels or radios? I'm not very good with that. Also can anyone send me a link

Look in the development forum, titles LBC mod, see link in my signature, it is suggested that you flash a new radio, but, all instructions are provided within the first post and on the supporting website
You shouldn't really start flashing until you feel reasonably comfortable with the process, so I'd suggest that you spend a day or two day reading the entire thread and the site before you do.
You can then ask any questions regarding anything you are unsure or are un clear about in the rom thread

DO NOT FLASH radio's unless you really need to, we know a lot about the Nand and can recover from almost any error there, but the nvram, radio etc is a different story. A bad radio flash, could mean you end up with a very expensive calculator!
The stock HTC European Baseband (radio) is: 20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M. I did not need to change mine when I flashed LBC. Different carriers will have different radio's.
You can flash a Kernel any time after you flash your rom, otherwise the rom flash will simply overwrite your kernel flash. Pick the wrong kernel and it can cause you a lot of problems, although these should be easily recoverable. The only way to learn that, is experience.

[Q] upgraded to a G2x expecting awesomness? =]

I am just posting this because i recently came from a Mytouch 4g. I got sick of HTC sense so now im going pure stock android. Just posting this because i know nothing about roms and such for this phone. Just wondering if someone could help me out which rom i should use, kernels, tricks, etc.... any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!
Hello and welcome. Like I tell all newcomers to the G2x, this phone has its bugs, but with the right combination of rom and kernel, this thing can be a beauty. I personally am using a pre-rooted stock OTA GB along with faux123 0.1.3 kernel. However, all phones are different and so are users, so you will have to experiment to find out what works best for you and your phone. Have fun.

Nice =)
I'm running the stock ROM and I love this phone! There are bugs but for raw performance and features this phone is awesome. It also helps that I paid nothing for it!

Also how do you get that google banner under your name?
Well CM7 is always a good bet. Ive had great experiences with Weapon rom which is a more stock LG rom with tweaks.
MIUI is also working awesome. Im using 0.8.19 MIUI from the rom forum.
You'll need to NVFlash first which only takes a second. This installs a good clockworkmod recovery.
Then just download roms to SD and flash away.
No root required to start flashing. All custom roms have root access.

I had a friend make the banner for me, and he doesn't like other people using his work without his permission. But if you're trying to get your own banner, you just need to edit your signature, and insert the image.
My personal reviews:
CM Nexus 2.3.5: great rom, close to stock
Eaglesblood: lots of features
CM7: not for me, felt laggy
OMGB: fast and speedy, really close to stock with some nice features, but couldn't get data to work
Weapon: couldn't get data to work on my phone, I view it as Eaglesblood
MIUI: great, fast. ran into problems with battery life. Must of been the kernel.
Xboarder's Stock 2.3.3 rom: The current rom i'm using, quick, fast, and the closest to stock you're gonna get.
Hope this helps
Weapon G2X with faux's kernel is the best in my opinion. I'm getting 10+ hrs of battery even at 1.4 GHZ

New like you
I got my G2x in November and like you never messed with any ROM's or Kernels, basically never had a phone worth rooting so I never bothered to learn anything about it. Once I read the beginners guide on installing NVflash and CWM, I began flashing like crazy. I really liked CM7 and I am anxiously awaiting CM9. I got the fastest benchmark test with Eaglesblood and an OC kernal, but I just flashed this-
RG2x-MIUI v1.12.23 and so far I love it. I've never used MIUI before and so far it has been extremely smooth and looks awesome. This has the faux kernel built in and the benchmark test was almost as good as Eaglesblood. I did flash the CM7 camera and the Bravia hack and now the camera works as good as the stock GB one. However I don't think Wifi calling works. Hope that helps, I know you'll have fun like I did flashing all the different flavors out there!
Im using Eaglesblood with Faux123 0.4.7. Its really smooth no lag. Ive tried others but i always seem to come back to this one
I'm running weapon 3 with faux123 0.1.3 kernel at 1.4ghz and it runs great its fast and smooth and I get great battery life. I have also used miui and its a great rom as well.

Kernel Question

So my wife wants her Inspire as stock as possible, but she wanted bloat removed and it rooted. So I installed the following ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192372&highlight=2.47.502.7rtdx
Just the latest AT&T GM ROM rooted and bloat removed. Her radio, ril, and software:
Radio - 12.59.60.26U_26.11.04.21_M
RIL - 2.2.0160HM
Software - 2.47.502.7rtdx
What kernel would you recommend? She complains about the sound some and I saw some kernels have fixes. I can't seem to find a kernel that is made for the stock ROM. She doesn't want a ROM so I'm leaving her phone alone as much as possible, just looking for a solid kernel with as much speed/stability as possible hopefully with the audio fix.
TIA

If you're going to use the stock ROM then you should probably stick with the stock kernel. However, if you're feeling adventurous you can try a Lordmod Sense kernel (post #2), or LeeDroid kernel. These kernels are great for custom Sense ROMs and come highly recommended, but I've never seen anyone mention using using them on the stock ROM. Be sure to make a nandroid backup first, in case you end up in a boot loop or you want to revert back to stock kernel.
Regarding the "audio fix" you're talking about...I don't know if you're going to see much improvement with a different kernel, but it's worth a shot. The Inspire doesn't have particularly great audio (especially if your wife is coming from an iPhone or something else with good audio). Lordmod does boost the volume a bit, if that is her complaint. Let us know your results either way.
2.6.35.10 is the stock kernel. Browse the development forum for kernels based off of this. Any of these should work. You will have to play with them to see what works best for you. The kernel that is in her Rom has the nesessary sound files. If you want it to just be louder than there are some kernels that boost sound, but as far as quality, this is as good as it gets.

[Q] Most bug-free ROM?

Sorry, guys. I know you hate these threads.
For reference, here is the last one. From February:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514607
I'm buying a MyTouch HTC Slider for a friend of mine (with her money). She loves Android but isn't a techy.
I will have no experience with this phone. She doesn't need the flashiest or fastest ROM. She just needs the most stable. I want to give her a custom ROM to take advantage of less-bloat and better battery life.
Which of the current ROM's is the most stable? Is the thread from February that I linked above still valid? Which is to say, that Froyo ROM's are still considered the most stable? Or has Gingerbread come along further yet?
I'm pretty used to flashing my Skyrocket. Just don't have time to devote to researching the MyTouch. She's not my GF. She's actually my buddy's GF.

Also, if you can buy her a phone that has software version 1.28.531.9 that'll be great since you can gain S-OFF and flash ROMs at ease without having to go through HTC-Dev to unlock the bootloader.
Keep your eyes on this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613917
A debloated and tweaked version of the latest stock ROM. I'm running a rooted stock 1.63.531.2 ROM (the latest) and it is by far the smoothest and quickest thing out of HTC for this phone. The Miktouch ROM will be an even better experience. And everything just works like it should, no having to do anything special to get some function to work.

I vote for Bulletproof too, I have been running it for months with no problems. It keeps all the functions of the phone intact too. There are no Froyo roms for this phone, so I am not sure what you are talking about there. There are plenty of gigngerbread roms, and Ice cream sandwich roms. I haven't found any of the ics roms to be stable enough for me though. Go with Bulletproof.
Kk, just picked up the MyTouch HTC 4G slide.
It has:
Locked
Doubleshot put Ship S-On RL
HBOT-1.45.0013
So it looks like the Revolutionairy tool can't be use to set this phone to S-OFF because it says 1.45.0013 is not supported at this time, when I run the Revolutionairy tool.
So from what I can gather, it looks like installing the Bulletproof ROM is now out of the question, since there is no way to set this phone to S-OFF?
I'm still googling but on a bit of a time crunch.

Use the all in one tool to unlock & install clockwork, then you can flash bulletproof. You'll have to extract the kernel (boot.img) and flash it using fast boot, there's a sticky in the dev section about flashing ics roms that will show u how to do that

We can now gain S-OFF (if you want it and if you're tired of flashing boot images from your computer everytime you flash a new ROM) via Juopunutbear. I was a bit apprehensive to try it out as this is my only phone, but I did and it took me about 15 tries to get it but it worked! A lot did it on the first try tho. Like everything else, its risky, but as long as you follow the instructions you will be fine. S-OFF - Juopunutbear

How does Virtuous Inqusition compare with Rubix? Seems people go NUTS for this Virtuous stuff, but I've heard lots of good about the battery life in RubiX, and I'm really interested in the data speed tweaks - people reporting going from 1.5 Mbps to 8+
I come from the OG Moto droid - switching between Miui, CM, and Simply Stunning. I definitely don't want Sense.
