I have the app GoContacts. I want to be able to group my Facebook contacts if that's possible. Also I can never group my other contacts all at once. When I check the ones that I want to group, it says "success" but some of them don't show up in the group and I have to go to their contact info and put them into the group manually.

I've done a bunch of searching and can't find the answer for this phone.
Does anyone know how we can select just "My Contacts" instead of "All Contacts" with regards to syncing the Google contact list?
There's gotta be a way. I'm going to check the option to only show contacts with phone numbers but frankly, that option kind of sucks. There should be a better way to do this.
i have the same issue and can't find any setting to sync only My Contacts.
What is even more annoying is that it does not sync the groups i have set in google contacts

I can't find any options to add groups or add contacts to groups. I have only 2 groups listed - google and corporate with no options.
I think Touchwiz completely borked groups.
Yeah, it seems to be a problem with touchwiz because my buddy who's got an EVO has the option available.
Yeah, this is probably the only thing on the Captivate that I haven't been able to fix. It syncs every random Google contact I have, whereas other Android phones I've had would only sync the "My Contacts" group.
You can set contacts to only display people with numbers, if that helps.
You can create groups. Open Contacts then hit menu, create. Then when you open the group there will be an add member on the screen. For existing groups with members, you have to hit menu and then add member to add more.
The other thing is that I keep losing contacts randomly.
I don't understand why this is happening, it's quite frustrating

I still can't follow;
I open contacts and hit create and I get an overlay "save contact to" with 4 choices:
Phone
Sim
Corporate
Google
Only if i choose phone and scroll to the bottom is there an group field (shows unassigned).
EDIT - if i select the group i go to an empty box, but i can hit menu and create a group. Unfortunately every group or contact I create assigned to phone (not corp or google) becomes hidden. If I try to create group with the same name, it says it exists. Trying to create a new contact in "phone" still gives me empty group list.
So TouchWiz is hiding some stuff/data in the interface. Very bizarre.

I forget a step, sorry. You have to select groups after opening contacts.
I used the free AT&T Address Book feature on this phone to create all my contacts on the phone. I then have them linked to my Corporate contacts, Gmail and Facebook. This allows me to assign custom ringtones and manage my contacts using all the features of the phone.
To use the AT&T Address I had to export my contacts from Outlook to a CSV file. I then imported them via the AT&T website (addressbook.att.net). Now I have all my contacts as phone contacts and no longer have the SNS restrictions.
One thing I liked about TW was that I could go to the contacts, select the google group I created, and then choose to send an email to them via gmail or the email app. I'm now running CarbonRom 1.6, and don't see the same functionality; I can access the group fine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to select multiple people in the group so I can send them all the same email. Any suggestions?

Whatsapp is a very good messaging service. It can be very useful for sending images, videos, contacts and group messaging, etc. As with every app, whatsapp could also go for some improvements. But one of the most important, I feel, is a desktop client paired with multi-device sync. Hangouts, by Google, and Facebook Messenger, by Facebook already provide these services to their users. What multi-device sync means is you will get all your messages to all the devices and desktop you are signed in to with your same whatsapp number.
Why-
Whenever a user gets a notification of a message on whatsapp he has to turn to his mobile device to look read the message. That can be painful if you are sitting on your desktop/laptop and your mobile is away. This might seem like a small thing but it always diverts you from your desktop. It is more difficult to manage for the people with more than one phone. They are limited to having whatsapp with one number to one phone. So, if anything happens to the phone with whatsapp all their messages are gone.
How-
One of the best ways to do it is, is to integrate with facebook. Not with facebook messenger but with every user's facebook id. Whatsapp can offer every user a choice, if they want to have whatsapp on desktop and other phone with the same number, they can sign in with their facebook id and then that facebook id can be linked to their number. Now once you sign in to any other whatsapp with your facebook id, it finds out the number linked with the id and verifies it and then all your contacts and messages will appear on the client. But this shouldn't mean that all the people with their facebook id or their facebook id linked with whatsapp should directly come to your whatsapp favorites. Whatsapp should still depend on phone contacts for favorites. Facebook id should only be used for the sync.
There are other ways to achieve this too. One of them is integrating with facebook messenger but I don't think that will go well with everyone. From the time whatsapp is owned by facebook we have been expecting some changes. And this could be a great one for both whatsapp and facebook.
What are your thoughts on this?
Try this

I have contacts on my Google account that I will never, ever want to call, but I would like to keep as contacts in order to know that they are calling me (don't ask...)
Is there any way to hide contacts (or preferably a whole group) from the All Contacts list in the dialer? I have already removed them from the My Contacts group via web gmail(which worked on previous phones) and changed the settings for People to only show that group, but that didn't work.

simply hide them by copying the contacts you need to phone and turning the visiblity of contact on sim unchecked...
I have a Motorola G8 Power Lite with Android 10 and would like to move several phonebook contacts within a group, so that they are visible only by accessing that group.
Is it possible to do this and how?
Look inside here:
https://playaapps.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019143733-How-do-I-move-a-contacts-from-one-group-to-another-
Following those instructions, contact are added to a group, but they still remain visible even in the entire address book along with the rest of the contacts ...
I would like instead that the contacts in the group are only visible by accessing that particular group.
