Apex launcher dock - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can somebody please tell if its possible to have a dock on Apex? I purchased this app thinkingit had that feature, but now it appearsthat I was wrong. Stock Asus Transformer running ics. Sorry for the dumb question.

So... Thanks for the help I guess... Lol

You're welcome..

The play store says the free version can do up to 35 icons in the dock. I've seen screen images that show the Dock settings option after the Drawer settings option. But on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 (just released last week), Dock settings does not show.
I'm guessing it has something to do with my tablet being so new....or for some reason, tablets are not worthy of this feature? (I mean, phones only?).

you can try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.go.launcherpad its go launcher for pad.
not too bad has a dock. i was hoping apex would have one but i tried out the free one one and there doesnt seem to be any mention of a dock on it it.
i've run Go launcher on HC and ICS both work wonder full. and i pair it up with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tamanegi.wallpaper.multipicture&hl=en to have a single page wallpaper.

There was an update today version 1.1.1
It now has settings for the "dock".

Go Launcher for 'Pad'

Just downloaded it from thier blog. Looks nice. Why does it have the 'stretch to fill' and 'zoom to fill' option? Does this mean its not fully utilized for tablet use or our big displays?? The latest beta is the first version that runs well on my TF.

It does work better than phone versions.
anyway to hide the dock bar?

it's beautiful and have many themes, but not smooth. just try and uninstall
Really like on the phone, not so much on tab. Needs some more work. Wallpaper doesn't scroll, app drawer was really slow with sphere transition....only a beta. I'm sure they will get there.

Market New version 3.4.4

Google has started to pushing out a new Market update in V.3.4.4. The inspection of your apps operates more quickly than before (apparently).
You can add tips or shortcuts on your home screen. The option is visible "auto-adds shortcuts" on the apk settings. Look screen
Is it really faster?
Is it bugg more less?
Root is not required
If you find something more different with the ancient versions, tell us on your post.
Download the new Market.
it does appear quicker but it could just be me.
Thanks, will give it a whirl later.
Works well thanks
tried this on he asus eee pad transformer and it was not full screen, black bars at both sides.
reverted to old market and all good again.
Actually works fine on my samsung galaxy II though.

Porting prime apps

i have started to port tf201 apps to our tfs and i think it will work since i got the battery widget and mynet to work on our tfs, so please share what you know about modifying apks and i will try to get filemanager systemui and other stuff over.
I put together an installable apk for the Asus MyWater2 (orca) wallpaper by pulling it from a system dump, deodexing it, signing it, and zip aligning it. The wallpaper installed and worked without issue on my TF101 since minimum supported API version for the wallpaper equates to Android 2.2
I used smali/baksmali to deodex the files from the system dump and instructions for signing and zip aligning can be adapted from the 2nd post in this thread.
To make installable do you have to sign and zipalign? I just deodexed and copied to system/app. Im having some problems deodexing some files, mycloud.apk.

Some of the apps you can extract and find another app.apk inside

Attached is an installable apk for the Asus Battery Widget from the Prime and a screenshot of it in action on my TF101 with dock (it's the one on the left). I pulled it from a Prime dump, deodexed it, signed it, and zipaligned it. Remember that you need to allow installation of non-Market applications (Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources). If you download it straight to your TF101, remember that you need to use a File Manager to install it and not the Downloads application.
I'm really not too impressed by its looks and still prefer the one I created myself (on the right). If you're interested, my battery widget can be found over in this thread.

Checked the screenshot for the Prime's MyNet version.
The music, photo and video selection buttons are no longer on top. It now appears to be in a configurable drop-down menu below the server selection menu in the left column, and there's a search function next to the settings drop-down menu, and a new blue/black theme.

Checked it out, very nice.
Thank you.
I use nova right now on my Droid inc, but am loving Apex on this tablet. Both launchers come from very respectable devs.
Edit: I forget to mention the cm9 launcher Trebuchet. It by far does not have much customization as Apex Launcher our Nova Launcher, but I'm sure is, stable as all hell

Pick your poison Nova or Apex.
i tried Go Launcher HD just now. its not bad..but i didn't like it. I do have to say it was very very smooth.
I use apex on my tab and phone works great and is free with lots of features. They do have a paid version now although havent looked into it cause free does everything i want
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
So far I am giving Apex launcher a whirl. Seems to be rather good. Might give Nova launcher a go later since I've heard some pretty good reviews about it.
I tried several launcher and now use Go Launcher Ex.
On phone (Galaxy S2) it works very good.
On the TF300T it's okay, could be better but is enough for me.
I just need to have directories and the possibility to flip 360°.
Additionally I like it you can use more than one quick launch bar (or whatever the name is).
I tried both Nova and Apex and had a crash with Nova so I it has been Apex now for over three weeks. I liked it so much I sprung for the Pro version. Gestures on a tablet work quite well.
Personally i love the asus launcher...looks neat.

I settled on the Apex launcher, got the pro version and it works fantastically.
I was using nova, but there were a bunch of force quits and hang ups. There was an update recently, but I haven't tried it again since.
Tried Aoex and nova, settled with apex pro , it's fab

I second this. The go dev team really does excellent work and they are dedicated to swift updates and they are always improving their software.
I can't get either nova or apex to quite render some things right: I stick to stock

TF700T Home Screen Pages

Is there any way to remove blank or unused pages on the home screen? I organize my apps into named folders so I've no use for the other four pages pages.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
Not in the stock launcher. Some other launchers (like: GO Launcher HD (EX is only for phones, HD is for tablets)) will allow you to control this. Others here have used Apex and Nova Launcher, but I can't speak to them. I do know that there were stability issues with some of those.

try pressing the home button,--> after pressing it, it will show you all the desktop pages, you can click and drag those pages that you are not using up into the trash bin (same process when you delete widgets from your homescreen)

From my consulting days "It Depends."
The launcher itself shouldn't. It replaces the default launcher (the first time you press 'home' you can select the default - go to settings ->apps -> the launcher -> clear defaults (or uninstall the launcher) to get back to the stock one). If you use GO there are a lot of cool ad-ons and widgets that will consume battery but you have to download them separately and add them manually. Since you're trying to keep one screen I'll assume that you wont be adding a ton of widgets.
The only difference in system is that some launchers may take more memory than others and if there is battery drain it's trivial (like checking daily for an update instead of weekly or something not enough to notice by any means).
Note that when you change your launcher you will have to re-setup your home screen. If you revert to the stock launcher your old setup will still be there, so it's not lost. Each launcher just saves their own configuration.
Good luck!
Thanks, everyone. I look forward to participating here in the forums. I am also on overclock.net.
P.S. has anyone done extensive comparisons on which launcher performs the best and uses the least amount of resources while doing so? Im open to opinions.

No one has done a full comparison (that I know of) but reading through these might help (some are more general and background, some should give you an idea of problems/questions that other people have.)

I used Apex on my Droid Bionic. It's VERY close -- as in, nearly identical -- to the stock Moto launcher. I liked it a lot, better than ADW, in fact.
