[Q] Disable diplay locking: suggestion - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. so, i hate the display locking. this causes to me pressing anytime a button to unlock. so i thought: why not using a screensaver that disable display locking? and why not a black screensaver to preserve battery life? so, starfield screensaver is the solution! but it has animation. so i think someone could makes somthing like that, but with black screen. what do you think?

The thing that consumes power on an LCD is the backlight, not the pixels (technically the pixels take a little, but it's minimal, and it's the black ones not the white ones). On an AMOLED screen, the power consumption is all in the pixels, and only non-black pixels draw power.
You'd either need to find a way to turn the screen "off" (the way the OS does when locking) or you'd only ever be able to stop screen power usage on AMOLED screens.

i have an AMOLED display super amoled exactly
is there a way to get a free compiler or source code from starfield's app?? only source code could be good, so i could change it and someone could compile that, and all amoled owners could be very happy

Completely turning off the backlight

I noticed on my old Dell Axim x5 that I have the option to completely shut off the backlight, but still be able to view the screen in a lighted environment. I also noticed this on the outer screen of my Razr, which also turns off the backlight, but maintains the display. The problem with this option is that I cannot see the screen in complete darkness, but it saves battery power. However, this option is not available on my Fuze, even with the latest version of Lumos, I cannot completely turn off the backlight manually, or adjust the settings to turn the backlight off when it idles. Is this a hardware limitation with this type of LCD? It has the same TFT resistive touchscreen as the axim. Or can/has this been programmed around before? Any thought-out answer will be greatly appreciated.

LED notification

I know there is an app that flashes a small square on the screen to notify of text or email. I'm wondering if a similar app can be made to light up one of the bottom 4 buttons. That way it might use less battery by lighting up the LED light on the bottom rather a portion of the AMOLED screen...
amoled screens have no backlight, and the only part using power is the part that is lit up.
they use the amoled screen for notifications because it uses less battery power than the touch bottons.

The tech specs claim no back light which lends support to the idea that when the screen is black its actually 'off', but I'm not so sure about that. If you go into a pitch black room and look at the "noLED" notification squares, you can actually see the "black" screen lit up. If you hit the power button, it then turns the screen (and the notification squares) off. NOW the screen is BLACK.
I would assume the buttons at the bottom probably use less power. Also, each button has its own light. It would be great if only the home button would blink when you get a message. or maybe different buttons for different things you receive.
As far as I know, this hasn't been possible yet... I'm VERY hopeful since I can't really live without an indicator light and using the entire screen seems 'stupid' for lack of a better word.
Several people have reported a drastic hit in battery life using noled. I don't know if those issues have been resolved yet.

As of now it is not possible because there is no API for the bottom four lights and what was found in the source code was not helpful. None the less, similar feats have been accomplished with HTC phones by basically reverse engineering them.
Any update for a text notification light that does not use a lot of battery?

From the FAQ, "Measurements showed, that an ongoing BLN increases battery consumption by 0,18% per hour"

[Q] Lock screen black pixels

Hi Guys one question or more like interesting observation;
If i love something on my GS6 is amazing screen, specialty true black color which gets truly black by shutting down pixels. so this happens every time, but not on lock screen. When I set black lock screen the black color is not truly black anymore and the back lid light is seen. Hope you understand what I'm trying to say.
(its kind of disturbing to have black lock screen and home screen and when unlocking phone u get so clearly different color) - you can even try it out yourself and give it some feedback what u think of this
here is link to the black wallpaper; BLACK WALLPAPER
So if any of you know how to fix that or this is something that cannot be done and i just have to say bye to true black color on lock screen?
Thanks and wish to you all the best!

Most seem to have this. Ive had 2 and they both make the same noise
I have the exact same issue and more...
Please try the camera in a dark room and see if you have a white shadow almost like the one in the black lock screen?
I try to exchange the device but they say, and it´s true, that if it was a screen problem we would notice everytime.
If you look at the black image in the gallery you don´t get that white shadow!

That's because the lock screen has an effect. When you open the lock screen, it is set to lighten the wallpaper and zoom into it. It's because of the effect the lock screen doesn't appear truly black. I know it sucks, but I couldn't find any options to turn off the effect. I've simply resorted to using one of those active display notification apps from the play store that mimic the active notifications of the moto X. Screen stays pure black.

my screen is always on, showing black screen with white clock. how to disable?

This is a feature of the amoled screen. All black pixels are actually off. Though if you don't want it, there is a way to disable it:
Settings>Advanced>Display>Ambient Display then switch it off

Problem after display change - Ulefone Armor 3T

Hey,
I got problem: after changing broken display, new on has some issues: i can see very small blinking horizontal stripes (darker and brighter, so they are visible mostly on colors other than black/white) and they are moving, like when you record screen with different refresh rate.
Also sometimes there is problem: when I turn on screen, after few seconds all colors change to bright and contrast is extremally high (like with using some bad picture filter), or very rarely i have vertical stripes, which become more visible, all screen becomes brighter and there is no response when I touch screen. This two problems dissapear, when I turn off and on screen again. (but I still can see delicate horizontal stripes - these are all the time)
Is it problem with software, or hardware?
If hardware, it is because broken/poor quality screen, or there is some issue (damage? dirt?) on the connection between screen and mainboard, on socket or band?
