My Droid Incredible's Sense UI has all these HTC-only icons that are a lot uglier than vanilla Android (i.e. Android 2.0+). These are the icons for things like the settings panels (e.g. "Wireless & networks," "Sound & display," "Accounts & sync"), and HTC's custom versions of basic apps (e.g. Messaging, Phone, Internet, et cetera). I once had a Motorola Droid, and it had beautiful, stock vanilla icons. Now, I like HTC Sense UI overall, but I can't stand the HTC icons.
How could I go about replacing said icons? I checked the contents of framework-res.apk and didn't see any of the appropriate icon files there. Also, where can I download the vanilla Android icons?
Thanks for any help you can give!
Edit: I have rooted, and I have busybox and clockword recovery mod installed. However, MetaMorph reboots the phone during its self test.
There must be a way!

Hi, I want to change the wallpaper in phonebook, settings and the dialer. I want the wallapaper to be the same as my homescreen wallpaper. I have Eminence v1.2 installed. Is there a way to do it?
You will need to modify the framework-res.apk for the settings background, and (I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong here) I think the Dialler and Phone Book are in the same APK, which I think is dialer.apk

I would need someone who could mod the stock Launcher a bit.
What I want is, to show the bottom five screens when on the Apps page (the screens come up when you start to drag an icon).
I've found the code what shows this, but I'm a noob in smali, and I failed to add it properly, so basically I've just f*cked up the launcher itself.
Is there someone who could help me out with this?
i would also like if it could be possible to edit the numbers of screens just like in android 2.x ...
Hi
When I change the theme on ADW Launcher Ex, some of the icons does not change to the current theme, most notably the ones on the dock bar like the phone, contacts and messages icon. Weirdly though, others do change like the internet, calculator and maps icons.
I can manually create a new shortcut and choose the right icons from the theme icon packs. The missing icons is available in these theme packs but it will not change them automatically when I change the theme.
I also have GO Launcher Ex installed and when I change the theme on that, all the icons bow down to the power of my superiority and change to the current theme. No problems there...
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to fix this.
Not all ADW themers theme the same icons. So when you install a new theme some of the icons don't change.
I would think that the contacts icon would change though for instance because all the theme packs that I have installed have an icon for contacts but none of them updates it with their icon when I change the theme. I know that I'm not the only person with this problem but I can't find a solution. I found a similar thread on samsunggalaxysforum but with no solution.
for the app's icons that should change, i've had to delete the shortcut and put it back, then it changes. otherwise, the icon hasn't been themed.
ok thanks. it doesn't work for me though. if i have york's blue theme active for instance and i create a new icon for internet, it uses the internet icon from york's blue theme but when i create a new icon for messaging, it uses the default samsung touchwiz icon. i can manually change it to use york's blue icon but when i then change the theme again, it still shows the york's blue theme icon and not the new one.
i just installed the same theme on my DInc2 and i get the same results as you. i suppose the switch was overlooked by the author, or it wasn't themed. i do see a couple "message" looking icons, but they could be for other services. i don't really know. but i don't use themes, so i am unfamiliar with alt icons. i like my ADW plain-jane. sorry i couldn't be more help.
you can download icon packs from android market and change icons manualy by clicking on them..there are tons of them on market if i remember correctly.
click on app on your screen > edit > change icon > from adw pack > solved!
thanks guys. i guess thats my only option then. i think i'll use go launcher ex instead because there the themes automatically change the icons and as i like to change the phone theme to suit my mood, it's just too much hassle to change all the icons manually. it's a shame though because adw seems to be smoother and quicker.
adw is preety neat...but i had same problem even when i was trying to instal some themes...most of the icons normaly changed...but a few system apps havent :/ i can recomend MIUI if u're willing to try it

i have actually already downloaded cyanogenmod so i'll give that a try first and when i'm tired of it i'll try miui.
Thanks. I installed MIUI v 4 based on ICS and been playing around with it for a couple of days. I like it a lot.
ADW Launcher did exactly the same thing on MIUI so it seems to be something that the developer needs to address.
