A plea to all American T-Mobile users...
Since American users started taking delivery of their handsets on or around 24 April, these forums have exploded with users talking about The T-Mobile Version of the phone.
Could you all please bear in mind that T-Mobile exists in other countries outside the USA? If you are referring to the US version of the phone, please specify (US) in your postings! I keep reading that The T-Mobile Version only comes in Grey [Gray if you prefer] and has bloatware problems. I have a T-mobile handset, it is black and doesn't have bloatware...
If you specify (US) in your postings, it will allow those of us from outside the USA to avoid those threads specific to your version of the phone.
Thanks in advance...
While I can see your frustration, the two phones are identical in terms of hardware and software, so aside from the posts you mentioned, what is the point in differentiating?
Oh? the non-US Tmobile phones don't have the bloat? cool.
I bet we haz more bloat than you!

They are infact not identical in terms of software or hardware.
Software: Bloat etc
Hardware: At the bottom of the TMOUS phone there is a plastic strip that is missing on the international version.

HTC ONE S T-MO US:
Isn't it mostly USA carriers that insist on their own special versions of phones? Partly I suppose that's our horrible method of distributing wireless spectrum, but it seems like the carriers here have an attitude problem beyond that.
As an owner of a German T-Mobile branded one S I can confirm the existence of bloatware.
Therefore I unlocked the bootloader and used Superboot to be able to deactivate not needed apps.
BTW: I have the black one but with original HTC logo and not T-Mobile
I have a us T-Mobile one s and I have flashed all the international roms and they all worked fine these phones are the same. The international housing will for on the T-Mobile and vise versa T-Mobile adding their bloat doesn't mean its different software the internals of the phones are identical that's all that matters

Just to be clear for others who don't want to go down the unlock and root path, it's not necessary to do this to "deactivate" unwanted apps. You can do this in the manage apps options on stock unrooted One S.
Apps will disappear from memory, take up no processor time, bandwidth or battery, and disappear from the app drawer. They will still, however, take up internal storage.
The advantage rooting gives you is that you can actually delete the unwanted app from the internal memory also.

There are a few more differences in the software. TmoUS software has the WiFi Calling feature baked in and the Tether checks your data plan and redirects you to a Tmo webpage to sign up if you don't have the additional cost feature enabled.

Yeap! stupid me had the use only 2g option selected when taking pics. Waiting for my GF to come by tomorrow to do a nice vid.
You will not need to send phone anywhere and it is working on latest update.
It will be a paid service so will not be posted on forums unless XDA allows me to like how they do for the HTC unlockers...
Only like 5 bucks and free to FRM donators...not much...last I am speaking about it so I do not get in trouble with XDA
If I ever decide to get the droid 2 global over the desire z, I will definitely pay 5 bucks for this.
The only thing stooping me to getting a D2G is battery life
so awesome!! I would love this, so it should be as simple as a flash? I would deff pay for this!
If we already have the new update for the global would it still work to flash this rom?
We also have to already have it network unlocked with the subsidy code right?
How do I become an FRM donator and help fund this awesome development?
You go to the team defuse website and they have a link on how to donate, and they also keep you updated with news there

lol this is not right..now I got go back to D2G from the DX after going to the DX from the D2G ..
I swear, my poor return warranty...is battery life any better yet? Especially on fission? and does it work on T-Mobile also?
well i cant wait! i hope XDA allows you to post this even though you are charging $5 for it. i'm going to buy a d2g as soon as this is released!
i cant wait for this! my only question is are there any random restarts on fission?
PS: the baseband is fully unlocked? (im on a milestone right now so i have no real idea about the d2g)
Can someone tell they will release that work for tmobile? And I have the phone but I can't activate it. When I call verizon they say I need to call my provider tmobile to activate it. Do anyone the same? Please help

Is the T-mobile in the US? If so, the phone doesn't support T-mobile 3G bands anyway.
So if this is the patch released on FRM then it appears to not work with T-Mobile USA as I just tried it without success.
I would really like to see the evidence that this works at all.
A couple of screenshots with no data connection showing is hardly convincing.
I am well aware that it is possible to do, I have it working on my D2G with both T-Mobile and AT&T SIMs with Edge on T-Mobile and Edge,3G and HSPA all working on AT&T using the DroidBandUnlock method.
Their method makes modifications to the radio and I don't see how it is possible to do this via system level patches.

Thats a damn shame Tmobile has to put that ugly damn logo right on the front of the damn phone, put it on the back or something. But enough complaining, this phone is gonna be absolutely stellar and the new and improved htc sense is absolutely terrific, this phone is an instant win

Aside from the international shipping that Elchemist mentions (I have friends in the US who might be able to bring it to me) I don't know if unlocking is that easy.
Unlockers and repair shops here in Mex tend to be befuddled by foreign phones (one more reason I wish I were back in Canada) and T-Mobile, according to their page, only gives unlock codes to account holders in good standing (45 days postpaid, 60 pre-pay). This leaves the option of online unlocking services which sometimes take a while to appear for new handsets (I don't feel like having a phone for a month which I can't use for calls).
solsearch, an easier way would be to use one of the online unlocking sites and just input the code yourself. Now if only S-Off was available...

Does anyone know what types of goodies the sensation is coming with? (the contents in the box)
what was shown in the link was headphones, charger, USB to microUSB cable and battery.
EDIT:
on closer inspection, the open back shot shows a microSD card of unknown size. The vodafone versione comes with an 8GB card pre-installed in the phone.

Well, first I'm going to see if my uncle is still with T-Mobile as that'd be the easiest/surest way.
As for the packaging I don't really get why people care, vendors, reviewers, etc. sure as it affects appeal, but for those who already decided to buy it? Does it really matter? Worst case scenario you keep the box at the back of some closet or you toss it, it doesn't affect the device (branding on the device is another matter). Too bad branding is on the screen, if it weren't people who really cared could just buy a different back cover.
And it seems it won't come with a microSD card according to that screen shot (the one of the box). Remember that just because the pics show one in the phone it doesn't mean it'll be included, after all whoever is using it probably would want one in there... I'm slightly disappointed but I don't care too much as I'll be buying a 32GB one anyways. I could have used the 8GB one for less used content but 8GB cards are cheap anyways.
But I think I am definitely getting the T-Mobile US version as it kind of seems like kismet. My birthday's on the 9th and if I'm really lucky I can have this prezzie for myself on that day
I hope mobiTv, telenav and some other useless apps will not be preloaded. Also hope it will have tethering option right out of the box like G2x and G2. The greatest feature of tmous, wifi caling should be there but just worried about the battery when it comes to wifi calling. It seems to kill battery very quick on my Vibrant and it was also battery hog on G2x. Still very excited for june 8th though!
Edit: just saw mobiTV on the box, dang it!... T-mobile we dont want your bloatcrap on the phone!

That's good. I just assumed it wouldn't be as it isn't mentioned in the "What's Inside" part (I figured they'd mention it even if not the size).
"I looked into the situation on this and I can verify that there is not a native way to disable LTE on the AT&T version of the One X. While we don't normally recommend this, you may want to check the Play store to see if there's an app that will give you this functionality. Please be aware that if you run into any concerns through the use of such software we can certainly try and offer assistance, but the use of such an app is at your sole discretion. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns, and thanks for being a member of the HTC community!"
If enough people report this or ask about this. I am hopeful that they'll add LTE toggle natively in the interface.
They could add a toggle, but....I don't think it would work.
I'm pretty sure that AT&T, whether it be in ther SIMS, or just over the network, force the phones to allow LTE. I don't think that I have even been able to disable 3G on an AT&T device since my Moto Backflip. Ha, if I even could on there. (Though technically, the Backflip was my second device...Aria was the first and I broke it thus had to downgrade
tl;dr The problem is AT&T, not software. Custom ROMs with LTE toggles would have the same issue so I can't see how HTC would be able to fix it either
Someone correct me if I'm an idiot
You can toggle off 3G on the AT&T iPhones. Looks like AT&T just has HTC by the balls (pardon my French). Locked bootloader, presumed kernel release delay....
I'd love to be able to turn off LTE when I don't need it. HSPDA is plenty fast to check email and forums (and way better on the battery).

here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27697880&postcount=1
also if you use ASIA 1.88 the option is also there. with the auto switch. so its ATT being douches
its actually pretty simple why ATT wants to force LTE when they can, it simply means you'll use more data, and the more data you use, the more money they make.
Here's just an example, you open a 10 minute youtube video with 3g, you watch maybe 30 seconds and decide not to watch anymore. You may have downloaded 1-2 minutes worth of streaming data, where as with LTE, in that same 30 seconds, you could have downloaded the entire 10 minutes, thus causing more data usage.
that menu from the gsm hack doesnt work though. or it never worked for me anyway. no matter what option I picked it would just go back to the default
It probably built into at&t kernal to not allow it, in did notice with 1.88 kernal you could.

Now the big question is, how much better is your battery life when you turn off LTE?
Can anyone safely notice an increase that isn't placebo?
Care to test formally, anyone?
You can disable LTE by adding a new APN which uses wap.cingular. This does work on att without any problems. You can find the APN settings here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1675879&highlight=cingular+apn
It does make a noticeable difference in battery life, too.
Hi guys, did you notice that HTC has choosen a new way to offer some of their HTC apps for everyone?
Actually with their launch of M8 they put HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Sense TV, Zoe and more into Google Play. Also a "Service Pack" can be found.
They will be downloadable for everyone, but they aren't at the moment.
HTC want to get an easier way to update apps without updating the whole rom. Same way like Google or Motorola did before!
Isn't it what some people wanted here? Happy with Android 4.2.2 but wanted the latest Blinkfeed?
Let's discuss here (but please without flaming about update states, only the apps on Google Play).
I've seen these few days ago and you know what? I don't care if we will get this 4.4 or not - we will have THIS! Fudge the updates - 4.2.2 Sense 5 with Sense 6 features - THAT'S THE WAY, I LOVE YOU HTC! <3 Hahahaha.
Yep I noticed too. But I really don't like that. Not because I don't want to have the newest blinkfeed but because HTC should be the only phone who have them and they shouldn't release almost all important apps for any phone. Then all phones can have HTC's look and breaks the originality of HTC itself.
That's my point of view, hope I expressed well what o wanted to say

To be honest - you're right guys. If they'll do that, they'll kill themselves as company, because everyone will have it no matter what phone they have. And there will be no point to buy HTC, whenever you can have HTC goods on any Android phone.
You can see it in two ways:
either the one you described, or people think "Wow, well done app. Maybe the whole phone is like this and i'll try the next time a device from this company".
I'm also excited about what service pack brings.
Guys, let's face it, people don't buy HTC phones for their software only. They buy them for their quality, too. And ever since HTC has moved to aluminium alloy phones, it has almost no competition regarding build quality in the Android market today. My guess is that are putting those apps on GPlay and making them free for all because of two reasons: they want to get faster updates on their customers' phones and they want to introduce potential customers to the well polished look of Sense UI. It won't harm the company at all. If anything, it will increase sales and make customers happy.
I wonder, though, if they will care for our One SV too with that Service Pack. Any info on that, on what it does and what it's supposed to update?
Edit - WOOOOOOO, BlinkFeed updates! I will finally be able to add my own feeds to it!

I'm quite happy with 4.2.2, but i'd love to have KitKat to be better future proof. I've noticed that already some apps require Android 4.3 and up. :/

Ok, i got it
This is an intresting thing that HTC is doing..Although I can't install any of the apps on my real HTC devices. The only option for the Service Pack app is the LG Optimus V. Not amused by this at all :|
So what happens when you install the Service Pack on the V? Does it do anything or is it just presenting you with a "Coming Soon" screen when launched, like Zoe does?

I was able to install the service pack on my Asus Tf 101 and extract the apk. Then installed it at my One SV, but it does not even show up in appdrawer. So i can not use it.
Weird as hay. I've seen from the comments that somebody with an Explorer has been able to install it, also somebody with an HTC One S. We'll just have to wait.

It appears the apk is listed as not being compatible for our device as of right now. Has anyone attempted to modify the apk so it doesn't think that anymore. Similar to what so many were doing with Facebook Home back when it first was released and some upset customers changed it a little so they too could get it on their phone haha.

So it integrates with the phone's launcher just like it does with Sense. Nice.

I have a HTC one SV which is rooted, S-on. I have the dream box Rom. I was glad to come across this thread, unfortunately when I try to download zoe, I get a message saying this app isn't compatible with your device.
Any other way to get zoe on my phone?
Hello, I just upgraded my epic 4g touch to the nexus 5 on sprint. I was wondering if there were any differences between the sprint model and any other nexus 5. Can I flash any ROM on the forum? Is there anything I have to worry about with apns, kernels or modems? And I heard that people had to order sim cards seperately. Is this still true with the 16gb white model? Thanks for the help. I've been around sprint CDMA phones for a while, but this unlocked sim cardiness is all new to me lol
I suggest leaving sprint

Thank you. At least someone here can actually help. Just so you all know, sprint actually has the best service in my area and my plan is dirt cheap, so it wouldn't make sense to switch, not that I can anyway because it isn't my plan

You would only need a Sim card if you went to T-Mobile or At&t.
I didn't know that Sprint gave out the nexus 5 for two years on contract, considering its a contract free phone. But it will definitely last you two years. I don't really foresee some game changing features coming out with phones in the coming year (s5, HTC one m8) and you will have the best support by developers so you will always have the latest android version.

I just use stock ROM deodexed with xposed framework and use gravity box and xutilities. But I personally recommend purity ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...ment/rom-purity-rom-hammerhead-08-01-t2528265 or mahdi http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-mahdi-rom-2-4-t2540455, I am not a fan of Cyanogenmod (they do excellent work don't get me wrong). Cannot really say too much because this can't turn into a best ROM thread but here is a list of every ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...dex-google-nexus-5-roms-kernels-mods-t2475401
fyi: if not using a Cyanogenmod ROM make sure the kernel is not CAF normally the thread will say what it is. You can also click on my signature and see the modifications I have done to my nexus 5 to make it my own.

"CAF is a custom Linux kernel branch in place to support Qualcomm hardware. By using a potentially heavily customized kernel (while AOSP Android uses the main Linux kernel), custom kernel developers will have to effectively maintain two separate instances of their customizations."

I'm also on Sprint. Here's what you need to do, when you get the phone just make sure the uicc (sim) card is in the phone so you can fully activate it. Otherwise you won't be able to get LTE. If you don't have it just go to a store and get one. That's it. All nexus 5 are the same, so feel free to dive into any sort of rom you like. If you do, make sure unlocking the bootloader is the first thing you do. You don't want to set the phone up all nice then have to do it all over again because it gets wiped when unlocking the bootloader.

With contract.. Meaning, whoever is paying the bill is paying for the phone in the monthly fees.
