Hey guys, I have a T-Mobile One S that I just bought and I can't for the life of me get it into fastboot mode. I've tried reboot fastboot in adb and I've tried holding volume down + power when the phone is off. Nothing happens when I do the button combo and reboot fastboot just reboots the phone.. any ideas?
have you got fastboot unchecked ??
it can take a few attempts, do you have root ? if so download quickboot its free
Fastboot is unchecked, I don't have root. It just doesn't happen..
Fast boot
I've found the best way to get into boot loader wiht any consistency is to hold the volume down and power button for five seconds or so, then let go of the power button (while holding volume down), then tapping the power button a couple times. Boot loader should pop up
Hope this helps!

I remember reading on one of the threads about tapping the button, but can't remember which one. It took me probably 40 attempts to get it right!
It's also a little weird when you select Recovery from the menu, it takes several seconds to get into the actual clockwork menu.
Good luck!

can you reboot the device? if yes does it stuck on reboot without pressing buttons?
if you cant turn of the device with the power button just press power + vol up at the same time for 3 sec
now it should turn off
this may help you
Here is how I was able to get into different booting modes.
1. Power down
2. Power up and wait for the M sign to show up
3. Press volume down, nvFlash will display, press volume down again, RSD mode will display, press volume down again, fastboot mode will display.
4. Press volume up to select fastboot
5. Go ahead and flash the kernel that you like to restore
can you change the booting mode by pressing vol down?

thanks for your quick response..
yes,i can reboot/powerr off by power+vol UP.
but if only press power button to turn off ,nothing happens.
EDIT:-try this method and no success.
I don't know if I got something wrong up there, but since you didn't flash anything and were just playing around with vol up/down, you should not have to flash anything...
What happens if you just reset your xoom by holding vol up + power for 3 seconds and after that just wait? Imo your xoom should just boot back into android and everything should be fine...
he don´t has to flash something
i am not sure if he wasnt able to turn of the device... and reboot it or something else...
the points for flashing r optional - if he wants to change the kernel or something

Try holding Vol up + PWR for 3 seconds and release, you should see the Motorola logo.
Can you tell us what happened before the xoom went off, or if you have loaded a custom ROM some time ago.

Let the battery go all the way down. Then put it on charge and try to boot-up.
Can you get into fastboot mode? If so, you should be able to reboot into your OS.
So I flashed CleanROM 3.0.
The problem is, I always mess up the button presses when rebooting to recovery. On my Atrix (CM7), and my Transformer (Revolver), there was a simple "boot to recovery" option.
Anyone know of a method to get this done on the HOX?
Not really being a noob, but my fingers aren't very coordinated...lol.

In Clean ROM, just hold down the power button and choose reboot > reboot bootloader.
Or download a reboot app from Google Play such as Quick Reboot.
Quick boot works well
This is a bit silly but I can't seem to be able to get into the bootloader if my phone is off.
I can get into it by when it's on by holding Vol Down when resetting it but holding Vol Down while holding the power button when it's off doesn't seem to be working. If I let go of Vol Down, it just boots up normally.
most of the time I'm booting to recovery my phone is connected to my computer because I've just put a ROM on SD card storage
so I just adb reboot recovery

Don't let go of volume down at all until it's in bootloader.

Disable Fast Boot (settings > power).
Yeah disable fast settings but I always have problems too. What I do, I hold power and volume down, and if it doesn't work I let go of power FIRST. Then the next time I try it almost instantly boots into BL. But most ROMs have "reboot into recovery" option under the reboot when you hold down the power button while the phone is actually booted up. Every ROM I've tried on here does including CM9.
Turns out I wasn't holding it down for long enough, especially compared to my old Desire which was much quicker.
Thanks.
Thanks guys, I completely missed the option in the power menu while hitting restart lol.

i rooted and bootload unlocked on 2.20 flashed boot.img via fastboot and then flashed cm10. everything work fine. then i decided to flash codename. first thing i did was flash codename boot.img before i did anything and thats where i messed up. cant get into fastboot with power and volume up+down it just goes to htc screen with red warning sign. and when i try to boot up phone it gets to home screen and keeps forclosing not allowing me to do anything....
it sounds like you lost recovery, keep trying to get into bootloader then flash twrp again.

wont let me get into bootloader. the power and volumes just keeps booting the phone up and stuck on infinite forclosing
happend to me a few minutes ago it was nasty try to shut down the phone and then
before it loops quickly power+volume down and after the one xl buttons stop flashing hold the
volume down and keep holding it until bootloader shows up
press and hold power button until capacitive buttons flash 6 times. then hold volume down. phone will boot into bootloader. carry on from there.
The problem is you weren't holding the right keys to get into bootloader.... and everything is fc'ing because your running codenames kernel on cm10.

so i would have to wipe, flash rom then flash boot.img
as its booting if u turned on usb debugging computer should detect it while its booting. just run "adb reboot recovery"
After trying to flash a TBO calendar/calculator inverted app I rebooted from recovery only to now be stuck in a bootloop. The only thing the phone will do is begin to reboot itself if I press all three buttons to "hard restart". (power+vol up+vol dwn). Tried using adb/fastboot to reboot into recovery or bootloader but I don't think that the phone is far enough into the boot process to be recognized by adb/fastboot because typing adb reboot-bootloader just returns "waiting on devices". I have also tried to use power+ vol dwn combo to reboot to bootloader. I have noticed that this only works for stock and other certain ROM's. It's a hit and miss as to why this occurs.
So right now I am stuck in a perpetual bootloop with no way to get to recovery or bootloader. I don't know of any other way of getting into recovery to restore a nanroid. Any one have a good suggestion? Please!
The combination of power + volume up (for like 10 or so seconds) will force a reboot. As SOON as it reboots you just need to hold volume down to get into bootloader.

I'm having the same exact problem, I figured out the volume up + power, turns the phone back on in a hardboot. But, exactly how long do you need to hold the volume down button for once it's rebooting?? I just got a replacement phone on 9/24, my previous phone had no problem with this & had the option of fast boot in the settings. Just rebooting my phone takes FOREVER to turn on (or so it seems in comparison). Any idea how or why this is now? Is it due to an update, can I uninstall the update to go back to a fast start setting?? Thanks!!

When you hold the volume down button are you also holding the power button? You need to use volume up + power to restart. Then, when it restarts, immediately hold volume down without letting up on the power button. Needs to be volume down + power to boot into hboot. As for now long do you hold it, until it boots to hboot.
Thanks for the info...
Thanks for more details I'm pretty sure I did let up on the power button thinking it was keeping it from loading. I'll try this out now!!!
full stock, unrooted, GT-P5110
... connect to odin (3.12 PC)-> uncheck auto reboot -> install twrp -> PASS -> unplug cable from usb
but all I seem to be able to do is reboot into system.
I :-
hold power button for 1 sec, 2 secs, 3 sec.... trying to just turn it off (instead of reboot)
hold vol down + power button,
hold power button + tap volume down,
just hold vol down,
tap power button (does nothing), only long press restarts.
hold power button till screen goes black and then hold vol down + tap pwr button
hold power button till screen goes black and then hold vol down + hold pwr button
hold power button till screen goes black and then hold vol down on its own
search forum
pull hair out
type this
each time reinstalling twrp
any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
thanks
To reboot to recovery you need to hold volume UP + power.

well that's strange, as, on my device, from off:
Volume UP + power takes me to download mode... I have done this several times and it asks me to confirm by then pressing down.
AND, from off
Volume DOWN + power takes me to recovery.
and doing a search, via google and xda all agree with me.
.. but thanks
I never said I couldn't get into recovery... I cannot get from odin into recovery without it first rebooting and therefore wiping my flash.
edit: So I tried it anyway, and got back into download mode, which in a way is kinda good news as, my logic, if I can get back into download mode from a reboot then I should be able to get into recovery from a reboot.
Same same but slightly different

I am having the exact same problems and tried exactly the same things. I am just not able to install twrp because of this. ( I read that it overwrites the recovery with the stock one when you are not going straight into recovery mode after installation) I am stuck at the “Samsung Galaxy note 10.1” screen if try to go straight into recovery.
What is strange though is that with my device: VOLDown (towards the power button) + Power button takes me to download mode and the other combination supposedly to the recovery mode.
This is so frustrating. Done this so many times with other devices but this one just does not give up… I just want to get rid of all bloatware and other crap…..

I've given up, for now, tried every combination I could think... I have a sneaky feeling it must be rooted first. It is the only thing I haven't tried doing.

I am currently doing just that! Using the files from autoroot . chainfire . eu (can not post links yet haha) . I will let you know how it went!
UPDATE:
It worked! I rooted my device first. After that I flashed my recovery via the TWRP app. I also must say that my device is the GT-N8010 (p4notewifixx). I got confused of all the different models. Still I think it will work with your model aswell! Good luck!
