Hi everyone, this is my first release for developing on any phone.
I know it's nothing special, as it's just a stock rom that I've debloated and tweaked just a bit, but like I said, it's my first attempt at ever doing anything like this.
I would also like to first off thank all the very helpful, and patient people on here, and at the sdx developers forums. All I've learned in this short time (which isn't much really) would have taken so much longer if I had to play around with no guidance.
Working:
Everything as far as I can tell. I've been using all the updates on this as daily drivers on my phone, and have not come into any sort of bugs with it. Again though, that is likely because I didn't really change anything system wise.
What's not working:
Nothing that I've noticed.
No Wimax if you load onto sprint evo design.
What's different:
ICS Roboto font used.
Removed the US Cellular default WP and replaced with the Sense 4.0 default WP.
Added in Green overscroll.
100% battery icons.
New screen transition animations.
Removed all the bloat apps.
Moved some of the apps that could be considered bloat that were kept off the system so they
can be uninstalled. (Amazon app store, etc..)
Added some other useful apps like google voice, etc..
(Added google voice because US cellular doesn't have a VVM app like sprint, but I found setting up VM to forward to google voice works even better for that.)
Updated some of the apps to the newest versions.
Newest version of Google play store.
Rooted, and busybox installed of course.
I'm sure there are a few other minor things I've one, but I can't remember off hand.
I was unable to completely figure out the widget placement and shortcut placement so I decided to go ahead and put this out without messing with it too much. I could move existing ones around just fine, but couldn't get new ones to show up.
Changelog:
V0.9.2
Removed a few widgets that the corresponding apps had already been removed.
Changed the battery icon.
Added in new custom skin.

You might want to check out the forum at sdx developers. There is actually some decent things happening on this phone, they just won't give us a forum here for some reason.

I'm up on the ICS and just can't post to SDX from taptalk. There is something simple that we are missing maybe the ICS kernel Idk.

[ROM] DI14 Blues ROM

With a little work and permission from jabbawalkee I have ported parts of the MattedBlues theme into this ROM. The original MattedBlues can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768848
I would also like to add a thanks and credit to nitsuj17 for some of the images and the dialer. At the time of my original post, I was unaware that some of the pieces I was using were his.
This is in beta as I have not yet gotten everything in it that I want, but it's a good start and usable. As usual take a nandroid backup before you flash anything. I am not responsible for anything you do to your phone while flashing any of this content. That being said, I have had no problems with any of it. It uses all of the dependencies so all of the stock apps should work and anything that has been removed can be added from the Pick-n-Pack ROM.
Here are a few screen shots. They are low res, so the dock icons look especially fuzzy.

If you want to use the icons for the phone, contacts, app drawer, mms, and web they are in the icon.zip below.
This looks like a theme as opposed to the rom, looks good though and Thanks for posting it.

I probably should have explained a little more. I only decided to deem it a ROM because I left the apk's in tact. Since it installs apk's and not just the drawables and xml's I couldn't call it a theme. I will probably start a pull on all of that stuff so I can put it out as a theme also, but I have several others I'm working on right now so this was the easier for me. Kinda lazy I know, but if the permissions come in I want to be able to get them put out for the variety for now.
--EDIT
OK, I took the time, not as long as I thought btw, to go ahead and rip out the files that need to be taken out of the ROM to make a theme only version. I will post it in the themes and apps section as soon as it finishes uploading.
i would like to say that some of my images and dialer from the fascinate port are in here ...in addition to the ones in the original

Sorry, about that. I thought that I had the original downloaded. I will correct the OP to include you. I never meant to take without asking.

New Vlingo App

I was chosen to do a survey of two different versions of the new Vlingo app, so I got some screenshots. Wondered what you guys think of the new version of the app that will soon be released in a month or so..
Version 1:

}
Version 2:
I love the new interfaces, not sure which version they will go with. That's the reason they wanted us to give feedback. I love the humor of the "way too loud" screen.
And no I will not share an APK, so please don't ask. I'm under very strict rules. Sorry guys. Which I could.
This much nicer than the old one.
I would love to try this.
looks a lot better
I think version 1 looks the best from a ui standpoint. Interested to see how the new release works

Looks really great - though would love to see a dark theme. Also hoping they've incorporated new features such as the equilavent of google's "listen to". Vlingo tends to be more accurate I've found.
I can't make up my mind over which version I prefer - both look great.
the UI looks beautiful, any ETA?
Version 1 for me.
Version 2's UI reminds me of the Edwin interface.
Personally i am happy with any UI... cuz i just HOLD the search key to run Vlingo... just curious about the features...
so in this new version, it seems you have more options as to what you can tell vlingo to do...
is this correct?
can you maybe list some features?

Yep. Through voice commands it can post facebook and twitter statuses (possibly other social services down the road.. who knows), it can send sms, emails, and can make phone calls, open up google searches, it can open up google maps and navigation with specific addresses and such (eg. "Navigate to 1313 Mockingbird Lane"), and it can open other applications.
As for the ETA, not completely sure. Could be another month or more.
excellent apps have been using it lately.
Like the 1st version but would prefer a darker theme as vlingo is most used app on my phone.
Version 1.
Love to have a widget that is customizable (transparent background, different colors, layouts, etc.)
niiiiiice....,
I prefer version 1. However both do look a lot cleaner then the current version.

All I want for Christmas from HTC, Samsung & MOT

This post is being written to encourage major cell phone makers such as HTC, Samsung and Motorola to adopt Skin or Theme development within their devices. This post was specifically written to HTC and is a last resort for me to get their attention and if not, Samsung's or Motorola's. If you don't know HTC, I've emailed, called, "Twitted to you" and posted information to your Facebook account....all with no response.
Since the launch of my Skin applications on the Android Market for HTC Sense 3.0 devices, I've seen close to 10k downloads. I know it wasn't that long ago that we had our first base for creating Skins to be loaded by Non-rooted users about 3 months ago. My colleagues and I have a combined download count of over 50k in less than 3 months. That's some good numbers, considering most of the advertising has been from this forum and word of mouth.
My point is the Skin/Theme development that HTC implemented has lots of potential for a couple reasons.
1) No root requirement
2) People like changing the look and feel of their device..without a doubt. 50k Downloads in 3 months!
3) It doesn't deplete the battery like Launchers found on the Application market.
Here's how we can expand on this concept and make it great.
1) HTC's Sense 3.0 default Skin, consisted of roughly 6-8MB in size which included 50% of the graphics on HTC devices. Expand on how many PNG's we can modify.
2) As of lately we've been using Diamondback2010's M10 editor. Why should we have to use a program like this to decipher the Fusion.apk/M10 file? Shouldn't this be open source and easily changeable? A great example is Sense 3.5. As of now, we haven't a clue on how to decipher the folder. This is a major setback for both HTC and Themers.
3) Major areas we should be able to theme when it comes to Skins should be the Drop-down menu. Specifically, it should be broken up into to PNG's. One for the notification and one for the background. Seen below.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4) The Dialer and Mms are a main parts of the phone so why not make it to be themed within the skin? A great example of this is below.
I know HTC has always responded to XDA which is great. I'm not sure why my suggestions & emails haven't been returned but maybe now they will. The Skin/Theme concept has proven to be a success. Now, it's up to HTC or possibly Samsung and Motorola to expand on it.

Customizing

Hi, I got a KF when it came out last year. I wanted to give it to my niece this year for her birthday. I'd like to put something other than the KF OS on it. Maybe CM9? That seems to be popular around here. Also I'd like to customize the screens so that a 4 year old can get to what they need and not get lost in all the extras.
Q1: Can anyone recommend an OS for it? CM7, CM9 or other. I don't need it to have all the gadgets or widgets. Just wifi, video, sound and the google market. Maybe I can strip down something already made?
Q2: I guess I would have to make some sort of custom theme for it. Does anyone know of one for kids? I want to get rid of the carousel and do maybe 3-5 BIG icons on the main screen. No extra screens (swipe to next screen). And a password protected settings icon.
I've done lots of windows and Mac programming before, but no android yet. I've got the SDK and have gone through several beginner tutorials ("Hello World", ect.)
Thanks.
Im using Cm7 currently, i suggest you to use the same! Very cool, smooth and fast.
Cm7 is quite stable, and its been fun customizing it to my liking.

Ok cool. I'll start on CM7 then. Do I need to modify the source code to customize it or can I just manipulate the configuration files and graphics?
MIUI
I'm using MIUI.us, It's still quite buggy, but it promises lot!
If it's for kids, maybe the easier way should be:
Keep stock rom
Root KF. do not register in order to keep out amazon's further upgrades
Install the apps you like
Set another launcher as default and customize it as you like. Hide/unistall what you think the kids don't need
No need to flash roms, IMO
Put the MoDaCo Rom on it. It comes preloaded with the Android Market and uses the regular Kindle Fire OS. I've used it and I think it would be perfect for your niece!
Here's a preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2QtQeOdOZg
He says in the video that the Rom is v6.2.1 (Gr2), but it is actually been updated to v6.2.2 (Gr6).
Here's the Rom: http://android.modaco.com/topic/350682-24-jan-gr6-622-modaco-custom-rom-for-the-kindle-fire/
CM7 is the only one that can do video for now. I recommend you use GO Launcher or the stock one. Don't go too overboard trying to make your own. Actually did one a few years ago for my brother to browse the internet.
Desktop VisualizeR lets you do "stickers" and put them where you please and then point them to an app. Kinda like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
That's a really nice screenshot you have. Is that with the stock KF OS? or did you put something else on? I've downloaded the app, but the icons I get are always small, even when I give it a big image. Do I have to buy their image crop app or another one of theirs to get mine to look as good as yours?

[MOD][APP] Popup Browser for Tabs [P6200/P6210][RESIZABLE][NO FLASH][NO ROOT]

I was searching around for a popup browser for my tab P6200 and I came across this thread, the mod worked fine but it was too tiny for 7" screens so I decided to mod it myself and change the layout to a more suitable one for tabs and so i have further modded Gayebro's popup browser.
This app is touchwiz dependant so would only work for stock sammy based jb roms.I have only tested this with the Austrian JB Release. It could work with other Samsung devices, so please do post if it worked for you.
Installation
Just run the apk after downloading, no flashing or adb pushing required.
CREDITS
The original creator of this mod is Gyebro who made a Note 2 port for the S2, and you must thank him here for making this possible.
DISCLAMIER
I actually made this just for me and then decided to share because I thought many people could use this, this app doesn't need root and should generally be completely safe, but in a world full of conspiracies I am not taking any chances, so you should install this at your own risk.
Changelog:
v1.0
1.Changed layout to a more suitable tablet form
2.Changed Icon(I did'nt like the previous one)
3.Changed default homepage from Google to Bing.//because Google's tablet view looks ugly in a small window

I hope an update is given with this for resizing the window by pinching it or something. Anyways, looks great and integration to stock is what I was looking for. Other popup browers are plain ugly. Thanks! Hope you continue to update!

I am planning on trying to implement a more dynamic resizable button(a small one at the corner) I have an idea about trying to override the current resize functions not sure about it though , since there are some string values present by which the minimum size of the app can be defined I am optimistic, but currently I myself am satisfied with the current state of the app, will need to do some amount of research though *sigh*. Will provide other minor changes though (like a different homepage, since my brother is insisting on setting duckduckgo(a search engine with amazing privacy) as the default search engine for him, and a different themed approach).
