It could be a hardware issue but just to check that it isn't, perform a nandroid back up and flash another rom, make sure to perform a wipe inbetween though.

Hissing when audio starts

So not sure what's up, using that icecream fake rom and OC kernel, and I hear audio hissing most noticible through headphones when there is a noise, there is a hissing going on. It stops after audio stops though, not sure what's up.
I don't know if my rom and kernel are related to this, may have been here before? Anyone else notice this?
Try putting different rom and see the issue is still there cauz I been running ice cream rom with faux123's kernel and never had single problem like this.

Just tried this and still the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426590
Guess my phone is broken?
Also tried returning the ICS one to stock same problem. Also tried it on my hd595 headphones, same problem.
I should mention it does it on the speakers as well, but it's much less noticible.
Do factory reset and if its still bad than you have bad hardware.

By factory reset do you mean like unroot and all?
Well try out stock rom first and if you still have problem than i am pretty sure its ur phone but going stock won't hurt because you would be returning them any way.

It's not your ROM its he audio chip in the phone. There is a thread in skyrocket general where we have been discussing it.
Only workaround is bluetooth or higher quality headphones kinda mask it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428792
So what exactly did you guys do for workaround?

Wait so all phones do this? But I mean it's so loud... well there is a tiny scratch on it too, might as well replace it anyway.
I can't use bluetooth headphones though because I have an icontrolpad and I don't think it can connect to multiple audio devices. Oh well, I don't use it for heavy music stuff, but I mean it's just really loud that hissing.

Nothing, you either ignore it or go bluetooth

Yup, just some of us notice it and others don't. I forget about it unless I try to hear for it. If it's extremely loud I'd get a replacement
So replaced it, same problem. Oh well, but I mean I guess you can ignore it, but hissing bugs me, not enough to not love this phone though.
Even have LTE in Pleasanton.
Thx fags for help anyway

[Q] kisadworx, spirit ul

I have a little problem with this rom and this app. When I set sound source - headset, headset didn't plays, speaker plays. Is this app works someone fine?
Sorry for my english, just learning.

what rom and which app ? can u state properly ?
He stated it is kisadworx in the title itself
Well is the earphones icon visible in the status bar?
If no then try another headset.
If other headset works then you need to replace earphones
Also the earphone jack could have loose connection with motherboard which needs soldering

app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=&purchaseButton=Ru39aM6Yi42vGjIDsFC2EOTIOcs=
I changed method to I9003, selected my region, and the same sympthoms.
I can normally listen to music with these same earphones, so I think they are ok.
It's an common problem i think, since i have the same issue. It probably is, because of the kernel not recognizing the headphones corectly, so spirit thinks it only has a speaker.
Thanks for answer ;]
Do u think that another kernel help me to resolve my problem?

Forget what i said. The same occurs on cm7 when you use i9003 as audio mode.
All right, then the case is closed for now.
Thanks for help.

Earpiece hearing issue on using wired handsfree, workaround...

Hi,
I am on stock Indian ROM, I wanted to share the work around I had found for the earpiece hearing issue seen on my phone on using wired handsfree/earphones...
The issue I was facing was that sometimes when I unplug my hands free, I could not hear anything on the earpiece on the phone, like if I receive a Cal I couldn't hear the person talking on the other side.... I usually had too restart my phone to start hearing on the phone's earpiece...
Workaround:
when wired hands free is plugged into the stereo jack, start music player, Fm, or video player or anything that will play some sound in your earphones, now unplug the earphones or hands free.... So remember, whenever you want to unplug the earphone just play some music and unplug!!! This tricks always works for me
Not sure of this is a hardware or a software bug....
Please thank me if this has helped you.....

Hey buddy thanks for the suggestions. I am running on stock Indian ROM (XWK15). This issue was not logged in cooleagle`s newbie guide. Might be I`ll mail him to add this that thread..
Nevertheless thanks for the suggestions, will upgrade/change the ROM and check.

SK

No issues....just flash other rom...
May be zsle6...
I have seen other users who got rid of this problem with zsle6 too...

This is the problem with Stock Indian ROM only, so if you want to get rid of this you need to flash ZSLE5 Or ZSLE6 or XWLA4 ROM's or custom ROM's based on these ....

Any reason the headset might stop working?

I recently switched from CM10 to JellyBam version 5.2. It is running Android 4.2.1. Ever since I installed it (and I've tried re-flashing it twice) the audio is only coming out of the main speaker and not the headphone jack. Does anyone know why this would happen?
Update:
It seems to not be recognizing the headphones at all. When I set it to make the phone silent when I plug in headphones nothing happened.

If you check that thread you'll see that there are problems routing sound to the headphones in this release.....ther's also a suggested fix as well.

I see that a permanent fix is on it's way through some code change. Others report that app works for them, hope you have the same experience.
It foes work... However the auto detect wasn't working for me... When I use headphones I had to set it that way
.. Using the speaker I had to set it to speaker... Its not jumping through hoops as its just checking an option. But it does indeed get the job done

Problem ...

Hello, I broke the microphone of the mobile phone, every time I make a call, my party can not hear me, can you hear me speak only if I change the call to "hands-free". I wanted to know how to do to use the microphone in the "hands-free" every time I make a normal call, so that I can talk to anyone without having to change the call to "hands-free" and be able to stay on the front speaker.
I have s-off and all root permissions installed.
ROM: cyanogen build nightly 10.1
I hope in your help

Is there anything that you could have done to dislodge the microphone? Have you altered the sensitivity? Has the phone gone for a swim?
