My wifi connection is not very stable. Keeps on disconnecting.
I heard this is a known problem for theb g2x. Are any of u experiencing this issue? And or know how to fix this?
Is tmobile gonna do an update fix for this?

I've experienced wifi issues myself. Wifi was working flawlessly the first week i had the phone but now it seems as though it does not want to connect to any network -__- it just says 'error'
Not sure if i had something to do with it acting up, maybe i downloaded an app that caused it to act up.. idk
No definite word if the upcoming gb update will fix this issue but i sure hope it will!
sometimes simply rebooting your router can fix this. of all the wifi threads i've seen, i never saw anyone mention this. but like i said, it will sometimes fix it.
After leaving my phone idle for 15+ minutes, I'll lose wifi. Simple fix is to disable/enable wifi. LG knows of this problem and will release a fix on the next update. http://www.lgforum.com/forum/boards/general/lg/topics/g2x-wifi-problems
Now others are having a different type of wifi issue where it won't connect at all, I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue.
I'm having the exact same issue. Wifi will be connected, then after a period of time the connection gets disabled. It's quite annoying, as I often do not notice it for a while, after I have already gobbled up a bunch of 4G bandwidth.
I fixed this problem with G2xFixWi-Fi from the market.
Just 4 clicks and it is done.
two separate wifi problems with the g2x
it's good that your wifi problem was fixed with the G2xFixWi-Fi app. but that only fixes the dns problem.
there is another wifi problem where if the phone is in idle for a while and you wake it up, you see from the indicators at top there is no wifi icon and that it is trying to connect 4g but doesn't succeed. the 4g icon flashes on briefly and disappears. it keeps on doing this every second until i manually turn off wifi. then it connects to 4g. from what i can deduce, if i don't turn off wifi before putting it in idle, it does this as well after the phone is in idle for a while. i'm not sure how long after the screen switches off that this looping process happens, but give it 2 hours and i feel that the back of the phone is really warm. i'm thinking that it's warm because it is constantly in this loop. this may also be the source of the massive battery drain that some are seeing.
if i manually turn off wifi before putting it in idle, this doesn't happen. so that's my solution for the time being. i heard about using tasker to automote toggling wifi on/off as the screen is on/off. and it seemed to work at first. but after an overnight test, i found out that the phone response time is sluggish and unpredictable, to the point where i had to have perfect timing just to unlock the phone from idle. rebooting the phone didn't resolve the sluggish response problem, but uninstalling tasker did the trick. so now, it's back to manually turning off wifi before putting it in idle.
another solution proposed is to set wifi to never sleep in the settings. the last time i tried it, it didn't work for me. but i'll try it again to see if it'll work this time.
setting wifi to never sleep did not help
nope. i changed my wifi settings to never sleep and the wifi disconnection problem still happens.
When my phone was stock I had problems with Wi-Fi when it was simultaneously trying to run 2G or 4G. Since then I have switched to various ROMs and Wi-Fi is rock solid. I do use Juice Defender which turns it on and off when screen is off and I'm not running a short list of programs like Pandora. It also reliably switches on when I arrive home.
My G2X won't connect to every WiFi network, and there are a few it cannot even find. I was in a cafe the other day and my friend's laptop and Nokia connected to its WiFi network and my G2X could not even find it... (( So, the problem is, some networks it recognizes but does not connect to (it sticks to "obtaining internet IP..." and then disconnects) and some it cannot even recognize. But to most networks it connects no problem (my home included)... What could be the problem? Can anyone help me?

If you have not messed with the ROM and are having this problem - try TMo tech support first, then ask for a replacement if not fixed.
I have had excellent WiFi performance with stock ROM and EB Froyo's and GB (with and without kernels) - WiFi always worked OK. Could be bad unit - it should work!
My wifi has worked flawlessly, but I think it may depend on the router. I recently bought a wifi repeater to use on the other side of my house and when I connect to that, the G2x will disconnect from wifi after about 15 minutes of idle time, like previous posts have said. I switch back to my regular router and it never disconnects.
I have also notice the problem to.

I am experiencing this same issue. My phone is rooted with no roms. This just started happening within the last week. Does anyone know of a fix for this yet besides possibly factory resetting?

This sounds like normal behavior honestly. What is your wifi sleep policy set to? By default the wifi radio turns off when the screen is turned off and then turns back on when the screen turns on.
G2X CM7
Thanks for responding. I have it set to "when screen turns off." The weird thing is I never noticed it do the little switcheroo before. Also, I have Juice Plotter just for fun and it used to show wifi for most of the night when I'm sleeping and the phone is charging. And now it shows APN during that time. I guess it was messing up before and now it's doing what it's supposed to.
Can you enlighten me on a myth, I heard that the wifi consumes less power than the APN or 4G. Is this true or false?
Thanks again

With a LTE or Wimax phone, I think so. With a phone using hspa+, I don't think so.
Did you try.
Did you set it like I do, WI-FI never sleep. Because where I live
T-MOBIL had no cell service. Well, Very spotty coverage.
Also check how many people in you're neighborhood are on your same channel. And change yours.
Look in mark there's a free APP that's a WI-FI analyzer.
And change to one

My wifi is acting weird. It does a loop whenever i have a WPA/WPA2 settings on my home wifi but works when i have it disabled. :S It was alright with stock froyo and stock GB i uploaded from LG. then i flashed Xboarders OTA 1.2.2 GB and this happens.
Can any1 give an insight how to fix this ? =(
im having the same problem, i bought the g2x the day it came out (when it had froyo before gingerbread came out) and never had a problem leaving my wifi on 24/7 it wasnt until the update for gingerbread came out that this problem started happening, it really sucks for me since im using my g2x as an AT&T phone for now all i get is 2g speeds
---------- Post added at 04:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:35 AM ----------
also something i tried and worked was turn wifi off, turn off your phone and turn it back on then go to menu>settings> wireless & network>wi-fi settings>check connect to wifi and check connect to wifi that worked for me (holding the phone in landscape mode (horizontally) ) i add that in because one time i was turing the wifi on in that order it didnt work i dropped my phone and picked it back up in landscape mode and wifi was connected. im not sure if anything i said helped anyone at all but hope i didnt waste anyones time
So I love my Atrix 2, btu my only complaint is that the WiFi doesn't automatically reconnect when I get within range of my home or work WiFi. Anyone else have this issue?
My phone does reconnect with wifi reliably but I have had it fail to connect automatically with my car Bluetooth on a few occasions prompting me to manually connect.
Overall, I have been impressed with the ease of connecting, range and speed of my wifi.

I dont leave my wifi on for it to be able to do that so its a non-issue for me. I just run switchpro widget and enable wifi when i know im within range and it connects everytime, and fast too.

Yep same here. I use tasker to schedule my wifi/BT connections. The new wifi on this thing takes so long to disconnect from my new 802.11n router, that my truck's radio gives up on trying to connect when i turn the key on lol. So i have to start the truck, haul ass down my street, or manually connect bluetooth.
Is your Wi-Fi turning Off completely? Or just not reconnecting. I was having the issue of Wi-Fi Turning Off when at home and Wi-Fi is around so I wound up exchanging it for a new one and that issue has gone away so far. Plus it had a bad battery too, when I returned it the chick at Best Buy Noticed a bubble in the battery. That was fun yea considering I had it under my pillow last night and when I woke up the damn thing was like 100 degrees.
I leave my Wi-Fi on when I go to work it automatically connects then once I get home it automatically connects. Weird that your having that problem. Go to Wi-Fi settings then once in click the menu button and click advanced then go to Wi-Fi sleep policy and set it to never.

Post if it works.
So far so good. The true test will be when I get home tonight if the system logs into my wifi at home. *fingers crossed*
Edit: Yup, it worked.
Mine did that too but I recently did a factory reset and it connects automatically now as long as the wifi is on.
Glad it worked.

I'm having an odd problem with my WiFi..
I use all Ubiquity Access points (UniFI) and the Atrix 2 is having the same problem the Droid X does, which is that it will connect, work fine for about 2 minutes, then stop passing data all together until wifi is turned off and back on.
With the DX, it was a problem with its chipset and drivers interacting with certain access points (Atheros). The problem was identified by Verizon, but never fixed in 2.2.x with any 2.3 updates having never been tested by me so far.
Is any one else experiencing similar difficulties with their Atrix 2? If so what type of AP is it connecting to if you know.
Ok so it seems many people have some complaints about the WiFi on the One X but from what I have found, no one has the same problem as me.
When using WiFi after around an hour or so (seems to vary) of not being used the WiFi seems to loose connection, but it still says its connected and the only way you can tell it really isn't working is by trying to use the net in some way.
I turned on the "best WiFi performance" option and that seemed to stop the connection loss but really eats up the battery. So that is not a full time option.
I wonder if i should be taking this phone back and exchanging it (once they leave customs)
I also have an issue where when I put the phone in the car dock (unfortunately not the nice one that connects with the back contacts like I thought I had ordered but one that uses USB) when I take it out my lock screen no longer shows the weather when you hit the power button, I have to go back into the personalize settings and change it to another lock screen and then change it back.
Some detail: when connection is lost the phone is sitting in the same spot which is only about 3 feet away from the router. My previous TC Aria running CM7 would also lose connection occasionally but it was no where near as often as this. I thought that maybe it was my router seeing that its an old Linksys WRT54G Ver2 but no other devices that use WiFi have this issue. I updated to the leaked 1.82?? version but I still have all the same problems.
Anyone else have this issue? Think I should exchange?
I have a OPO, Nexus 5, iPad and Galaxy S5 on the same WiFi network and when my OPO goes on idle, it will stay on the WiFi network but lose internet connection after some time whereas my other devices wont. It's not a matter of the settings because I have left WiFi to be awake at all times and even turned off WiFi battery optimization. I'm having a tough time figuring out why this happens. I have to turn wifi on and off to regain internet.

I think I had the same issue, it only worked after I used a different router... I tested it in several places (even in two countries) and the damned thing only stopped working in my home network.
I have no idea why it happened but it only went away with a different router...

My only theory is because maybe my IP is not static and CM on OPO is not made to handle it? I don't get why my other devices work fine though. It only happens at home for myself as well

Could be software, does it happen in CM11 nightlies?
Or maybe is the config for the wlan HW, I think OPO has a Qualcomm solution for WiFi, I haven't experienced this in my Nexus 5 (Broadcom WLAN) or 7 2013 (Qualcomm older WLAN I think).
Bump
I seem to be having the same issue. it's weird. I've been trying to do initial upload from Titanium Backup to my Box account and it sucks...
network is a netgear adsl router with the wifi turned off, wired to a netgear router running dd-wrt, and I also have a repeater that's a d-link dir-615 running dd-wrt... yeah not the simplest setup I know
Would be useful to know if those experiencing the issue have altered screen timeout settings.
I was managing to upload ~30mb at a time, but now it seems to be much less - 1mb or less. I'm not sure if that's because I turned the screen timeout down to lowest (15s) to see what happened, but I've now turned it back up to 30 mb but the amount I can upload hasn't increased with it :/ Well - except for once where I did manage to upload 30mb again - which was directly after I turned off adaptive backlight. but then after that it was down to less than 1mb again.
Really scratching my head here.
There appears to be a similar thread over on the OPO forums - https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/wifi-slows-to-a-crawl.75850/ - I'm posting this in and watching both

Anyone else having issues with 5GHz wifi becoming unresponsive and needing to be turned off and immediately back on to kick it into working?
I've got Smart Network Switch and Download Booster (switch to mobile data if wifi is no good; use wifi + LTE) both switched off, so they shouldn't be a factor.. I even switched them back on and then off just to be sure that they were in fact off.
After a painful day spent trying to transfer data to the new phone, and installing all of my usual apps - having to disable and renable wifi at least 50 times throughout the day - I decided to switch from using my 5GHz wifi to 2.4GHz (same router), and it now seems fine. Switching back to 5, and I end up back with the same result - wifi will work fine for a while before stopping.
My Galaxy S5 has no issue using the 5GHz (and neither do any other devices I have), so it doesn't appear to be the router (Asus RT-AC87U) at fault unless there's just some compatibility issue with the S6.
Phone is G920I (Australian version, 64GB)

Pretty sure this is a Android 5.0 problem. My nexus 6 has this problem as well. I have the AC68U. I am getting my GS6 tomorrow so I will see if it has the problem then. No problems on 2.4 like you.
Turn off the stupid Smart Network Switching.
noticed exactly the same thing, all other devices in the house are perfect, but the S6 loses connection now and then even when next to the router.
No issues using my 5ghz wifi network and the S6, have not had to disable/enable it once for any reason. Tmobile version.
You might try getting yours replaced, 50 times in a day is insane.
Thanks for the replies guys - oddly comforting to see that some others are having the same issue..
@byronhinson - Can I ask what brand of router you have (since both Prod1702 and I are having the issue with Asus routers + Lollipop)
I have exactly the same issue and on top of that the phone gets laggy when it losts the wifi!
However with classic wifi (not 5Ghz), it works fine all the time!
GS6 32Gb - Australian version as well
Same issue here. I hope they will fix it.
No issues here, 5ghz all day long well when I'm home

Look at the silver lining - at least you didn't spend an entire day unawares and having to constantly switch wifi off and on to kick it back into gear, before *eventually* (after all of your transferring of data and installation of apps was done) thinking to switch to 2.4 and having it work as I did

I had the same problem and my router also is ASUS AC87U , wifi disconnected problem can solved after upgrade your router's firmware.
but there is a very serious problem I found.
on ASUS AC87U 5G wifi + Galaxy S6 , it drain battery very fast and get very high cpu usage at screen off.
it means the phone always keep running and can't get in sleep mode.
connected to another brand router it just be fine, very stable and no battery drain, So, I don't know this is ASUS's problem or Samsung's, that makes me very annoyed :crying:
hope someone can told me how to solve, thanks!

Argh - trying to update the router firmware was the first thing that I tried when I found the issue.. Stupid bloody router kept on saying that I had the latest version, but checking the Asus website shows that there's a later version from 2nd April that requires a factory reset after installing - 2 of the things fixed are around wifi issues..
Updated and so far so good, but I guess a couple of time will tell. I'll keep an eye on battery/cpu usage and see how it goes..
Hopefully a router firmware update will fix the 5GHz issue for others that are having the issue too, at least for those with Asus routers.
For all of you who are having this issue, how is your battery life?
Just got my S6 today, same router as the OP (Asus RT-AC87U) and same problem on 5Ghz. Constantly disconnecting and reconnecting to Wifi.
2.4Ghz works fine
5Ghz work very solid on other devices so i'm not really sure what is the problem.
Galaxy tab S 105 and 8.4 works fine on the same router's 5Ghz network.
5GHz for dummies
I was having similar problems, where two Samsung devices in the house were both having difficulty remaining connected to the AC87U router for any length of time. Sometimes they would continually report Authentication Error but then connect happily after a reboot. Other times, they just would not connect.
In my case, it boiled down to dumb user error. I was using the same SSID for both bands, but had mistyped a character in the password for the 5GHz band and so was only able to connect to 2.4GHz band.
Perhaps this will save somebody else some trouble!
