Avoiding Apple's and Google's 30% cut within in-app purchases - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
Don't all developers want to know if they can actually avoid Apple's and Android's 30% cut of all in-app purchases? Well I'm writing a project looking into this matter comparing in-app purchases vs external payment systems in apps. There are some different variables that comes in play, when studying whether it can boost the revenue to implement an external payment system.
One of the variables are the user perception of security. For that I created a very quick survey, that I really hope you will help me answer, for making my assumptions as close to reality as possible.

[Q] Is NeoMAD the real solution for cross platform development?

I have an HTML 5 app built with Sencha Touch + Cordova. The app works ok and is already in production, but I want more in terms of performance for the future, so I'm thinking about rewriting it in another framework.
On propertycross.com some of the most used cross-platform frameworks have been compared... I went through all of them and for me the winner is with no doubt NeoMAD. The approach seems the right one: write in one language (Java) and have the native app generated for each platform.
I saw no difference in terms of performance between the native one and the one built with NeoMAD, also the app was only a bit larger (1.2mb the native one, 1.9mb the one built with NeoMAD), with Titanium and Xamarin I get an app 10 times bigger, not to mention the increased startup time.
By doing some research on the web though, NeoMAD doesn't seem much used... on stackoverflow I get only 5 questions with the neomad tag.
So why so few people use this framework? Seems to me the perfect one... Does anyone have any experience with it?

First of all, as one of the NeoMAD founders I was very happy to read your post!
To answer your question, I think there are 3 explanations:
1/ NeoMAD is available on the market since 2012 only and this is a first objective reason why we do not have a lot of users at the moment.
2/ Neomades is a small company with limited marketing resources compared to our main competitors.
3/ The Neomades team is mainly a tech one and we have not been so efficient until now in business dev.
However, NeoMAD is used for mobile developments by major french organizations such as CROUS, L'Oréal and TNS Sofres / WPP Group. Some of these applications are available on the app stores, you can find more information about it in the References section of our website.
We hope that comments like yours will catch the community's attention and increase the visibility of NeoMAD… without users and the developer community we will not succeed !

First of all, you need to choose the framework according to your specific project needs. It's really hard to name the one-fits-all framework. If you're in no hurry, you can spend some time trying different ones and thus deciding what will be the best variant for you.
If you don't have time, you can get initial information from the blogs, for example, here or here, to name a few. Google it, there's alot of interesting going on.

Developer needed on share profit basis - Unique one of a kind project

I'm looking a freelance Android developer to help me out with a project.
I am an author of World War One and also have past published books.
But now with latest technology, I am now seeking a silent (Partner) on a profit share of return, to make an App for the WWI & WWII Memorials.
It is much like an existing concept now on App, like Camper Contacts, which gives you an actual location of a memorial, GPS of the site and a small outline.
Google Play Store have shown high interest in my initial concept, but making this (App) is way beyond my skills.

How to become a good android developer?

Developing a good android application is not an easy task (neither impossible ) especially if you have small or no team. It requires many skills and talents, such as coding, designing sense, music sense, marketing skills and list goes on. You have to keep an eye on everywhere since lack of any aspect can result in poor response form users (which is the last thing an android developer want).
Recently I have developed an android game (Fruiteria) in my spare time and launched it recently on Google play store (see link at the end of this post). It took me about 74 days to build it from scratch. It was a challenging task but I learned a lot from my experience. I would like to share my experience with you today!
Let's discuss what are the things one should never avoid while developing application :
1. Concept and implementation of application
As I said above, there are many aspects to application development. But no matter what you do, You will not be successful by selling poor quality application. So, first thing everyone should think about is a good concept. Your concept can depend on your goals such as business advertising, social work, marketing or simply making money! Also, having a good concept on paper is one thing but it's implementation need patience and constant efforts. If you have a nice concept and willingness to put efforts into it, then consider you are already at the half way!
2. Grow your concept with time
Second point I would like to mention is try not to be stubborn!! If you think that you have the best concept in the world, but the world thinks the other way, then you are in big trouble. After all you are building the application for people. Take suggestions from users and your friends to change and grow application concept. Believe me, it works like magic!
3. Research
Before building your application, try to do some research on what is the market for your application, who are the competitors in market and why they are successful (or unsuccessful), who are your target audience and what do they exactly want. Working on such things will give you a better idea on what needs to be done exactly.
4. Marketing
This one is tricky! If you are an individual, or a small company with almost no capital, then it is hard to put much money in marketing. Especially when there are already giant companies present as your competitors. But that is not the end! Think about creative ways to make your application popular. For example Give it to your friends to use, and tell them to spread it. If you are in college, then sponsor a small event in exchange of application publicity which will not require much money. Make discount coupons and distribute them. In essence, do every little bit of thing that you can. You might not see the effect on first sight, but over time it will accumulate on large scale.
5. Keep in touch
Last thing I want to share is don't leave your application after launching! Keep updating it regularly by adding exciting new features and fixing bugs if any. Respond to user comments and reviews. It gives personal touch and they will start thinking that you care about them. It will definitely increase the user retention and hence the growth of your application..!
I personally have been implementing these principles in my application since the idea came to my mind. Finally I succeeded in development of a good android game (or at least I think so!). Decentralized Application Marketplace - Your Thoughts?

We're trying to create a new open-source app distribution platform named Spheris, using blockchain technology. We are really interested in your thoughts – both devs and users. We're also open for possible collabs for those who are interested.
We’re utilizing Ethereum’s blockchain technology to build Spheris as a decentralized platform. This makes a lot of cool things possible:
No registration and transaction fees, as opposed to traditional app marketplaces who charge up to $100 for registration and 30% per each transaction. No technical restrictions or censorship. Optional anonymity. Forget about the need for credit card companies or banks – you will be able to buy and sell apps using our digital currency (Spheris tokens), with the option to exchange for other digital currencies (such as Ethereum or Bitcoin).
Customers will be able to purchase apps without going through registration and without credit cards. We’re also trying to accommodate devs whose apps have been removed from Google Play for questionable reasons.
Your Feedback = Extremely Important
We are in the early process of gathering valuable feedback from devs, and see if this is a platform that devs would like to be on. For users – do you guys see this as a platform you would buy apps from? Would love to start a discussion! For devs - have you had bad experiences with app stores (de-listing, ranking issues, not being accepted etc)? Does the concept of decentralization sound like something you might want to be a part of?
