Hello all. I need some help. I recently traveled down to the US, and decided to place my blackberry (rogers) sim card into my fido nexus s, to avoid getting charged on the fido account. everything worked great. Until I came back to Canada, and tried to use the fido sim card. It will not recognize my fido sim anymore, it says emergency calls only and sos over the signal. If I try to edit the apn's they won't save. Thought it was a bad sim, so I went to fido, and asked for another, so they gave me one, and it doesn't work still, and they tried it in a different phone and it worked at the store. so I am lost. If I re insert the rogers sim, I am on the network right away. I called rogers, I called fido, I went down to the fido store in person. I searched the net. I've done a factory reset, I've done restores. I've tried to use unlocking apps from the market. The phone just thinks there is no sim card. I am running miui, and while in the bootloader, the carrier info says that it is at&t... I did flash the rom while in the US to an updated version, with the rogers sim. I have tried to reinstall the rom after that, updated the rom, flashed the kernel and the radio, but with no success. Can anyone please help?

This worked for me, at least as far as data goes - in the same place where you choose network operators, choose the option for "access point names" then, when there, if there is no option for Telus, try pressing the menu button and clicking the option for "new APN" then in the fields enter the following:
- Name : TELUS
- APN: sp.telus.com
- Proxy: 74.49.0.18
- Port: 80
And then press the menu button again, hit save, and click the APN out of the list to connect.
That helped when I couldn't connect to Koodo, and they're the same network.
Hope this helps!

Hi, Did you manage to find a solution. I have a Nexus S 9020T and been using it fine under Fido/Rogers (WIthout 3G). Now that I moved swapped SIM to TELUS. it won't detect the TELUS network or connect to any. Any help would be appreciated.
Seeing how it says no radio you probably have to flash a radio for the i9020a, most likely UCKF1.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Provider: TELUS
version: 4.0.3
Baseband: I9020XXKI1
Build: IML74K
Phone was working perfectly fine before the switch to Telus. Even after reinserting the Fido SIM, phone will not connect to network.
Please assist.
My dads with telus... put his sim in my phone and no service but my rogers sum is still working fine... weird :S

Dear all,
i got this phone from a friend (S3 from Verizon, SCH -I535) but I'm leaving in Germany, i thougt it would be enough to Flash a custom Rom to get rid of the sim lock but it Looks like that there are morre technical issues that i know :crying:
So what i find out is that it uses CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev A. instead of GSM/UMTS and that the LTE band is ankother one.
On the other Hand i read about the jellywiz gsm Rom for that device, the outcome is that i'm very confused right now.
My question, is there a Software based way (custo Rom, kernel, modem etc) to make this device working in Germany with a german carrier sim Card?
thnx in advanced
Update the phone to the latest update and you can use it without having to root it
and it will work in Germany using german sim on gsm/umts and LTE??

1: Are you on the MF1 update?
2: If yes, go to Network mode and select GSM
3: wait for a couple of mins
4: go the APN setting and enter all your APN details.
You should be set
Hello,
I bought the phone from Kijiji and it is stated as unlocked. When I put in my Virgin Mobile sim card it shows I have full bars and connected to the Virgin network and di not ask for an unlock code so should be unlocked? Now with the full service bars I have no data connection indicator and everything is on and the APN for Bell/Virgin is inputted in it already. But I cannot send or receive anything or use any data. Says network error.
Any help?
Thanks,
Jay

Virgin mobile no longer supports CDMA. They are 3G and 4g lte only now.
I have tried the virgin radios and different Rogers and AT&T. Even telus and tmobile radios but none worked.
When I put the SIM in it says its on virgin and connected but no 3G or lte logo and can't send or recieve texts or use anything with data.

I'm not convinced, are you sure they're off CDMA now? You need GSM fot texts and on this phone in general. 3G and LTE is not the same.

This is virgin mobile canada. They only have 3G and LTE service here. I have had the S3, iPhone, and many other GSM phones no problems. Recently the Note 1 LTE. Not sure what is going on. It doesnt say to input an unlock code when I put in the SIM so it must be unlocked?

If if shows the carrier name and doesn't ask for a code then it's unlocked. Did you try Bell radios? Virgin Canada uses the Bell network and does indeed prefer lte and hspa to cdma as you said.

Try the ones here. It seems like it's something else though. Try wiping data & cache & dalvik cache in recovery or doing a factory reset in settings. Try flashing a stock JB rom in Odin or any other rom for that matter. Try flashing a rom in recovery. Just be aware that JB roms need JB modems. JB modems are backwards compatible with ICS and GB roms. The two official JB modems are RUXUMA7 and UCMC1. There are JB modems from other devices that work on our phone as well, but you'll have to find them yourself as I don't remember.

That's a problem. I really don't know how to help you. One thing you can do is compare Virgin Canada's hspa & lte frequencies with Skyorckets default ones and see if they match.
These are the default frequencies on the Skyrocket.
3G Network - HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network - LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100

Jay, I had to unlock my phone myself with I bought it. I use Fido in Canada. After upgrading to include data for the first time, I had a similar problem. Everything looks fine but I had no Internet. I advice you to put your sim card in a Virgin phone already running with no problem and see whether the issue was is with your plan. Sometimes the carrier screws it up as well.
Hello Guys, at first thank for all people for this forum, helpe us a lot. First time posting here.
I bought a Docomo Galaxy Note 3 SC-01F, then I wnet to Docomo Shop to unlock the SIM, the unlock worked well. I put by Odin the International rom to use the phone in my language and used in Brazil with the local SIM operator, all things worked well. So now I returned to Japan, and took a AU KDDI SIM in AU shop. The seller put the SIM, and configured the data transfer(OK) but the call number failed(Mobile Network not Available), he tried at least 3 hour. So I went to my house and tried by odin put the original docomo firmware, but the result is the same, the network data is ok, but call function return the same error. In the place of antena signal show a circle look like prohibit.
I tried other firmwares more recents provided buy this site, no result.
The IMEI is the same in the back of device.
Put the Access Point data provided by AU seller.
Tried to search the network, just show docomo and softbank, sometimes show the AU, but I try to connect give failed.
Try to automatic, failed.
I dont know what can I do more. Please anyone have some idea?
The problem is I cant connect to AU KDDI provider to make calls "Mobile Network NOT Available".

The company name is AU KDDI of Japan. When I bought the SIM, the seller gave to me these data to configure after I flash rom by odin. Because the seller did not got success in international ROM.
I did a flash by Odin the original firmware from the original company(Docomo) and put the data provided by the seller.

Well after the root you must check if device is bootloader unlock if so look for a method to unlock it, then flasha custom recovery and flash a custom rom.
Well is basically a firmware with a bucnh of customization, tweaks and mods, it also lets you use your phone software as yours not as the company whants you to use it. There you can use customs roms from other phones that are compatible( ported roms) and try them it can include fixes or be more compatible with the network

I understood and studying about it.
The first step i got it: ROOT THE ANDROID 5.0
I used the method below, and checked if success in "root checker" and other app, its OK.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/56569/SC01FOMUGOI4_SC01FDCMGOI4_DCM/
https://androidmtk.com/root-samsung-galaxy-note-3-docomo-sc-01f-on-5-0
The second step I cant do it: Bootloader check
The guides in internet say this: *#*#7378423#*#*, but in my phone I cant use the dial, show "Mobile Network Not Available"
Any other Idea or tutorial to follow? I saw other methods but cant understand.
My objective is: Try to put the firmware of my sim card owner(AU KDDI), to see if I can use the Dial.
Thank you very much

No way. Most of sim free or sim unlocked smartphonese will never work with au kddi sim cards>
the reason is au network uses cdma frequency system >
most if not all others are using gsm and wcdma
if the unlocked mobile has no cdma option in the network setting< then no way> i tried much
the au staff should have told you that>
