i read that At&t started to allow the htc inspire to use the amazon update, with some sort of update. my wife bought an inspire two days ago and she cant get it to work. we just did a htc update and still no allowing of non market apps. i have the infuse and mine will do it right out of the box. thanks for the help
I think you have to call att and ask for them to give you the update...that's at least how I've heard you can get the update.

I assume you have verified under settings > applications to see whether or not you have the "unknown sources" option, and if it is there, that is is checked.
If it's not there then, as mentioned, you'll have to call ATT to get them to push it to the phone.

It's the "sideloading update", or you can say it's the update that allows you to install 3rd party applications that aren't on the Android Market. If the AT&T wireless rep still doesn't know what you're talking about, then they are an untrained moron and you should ask to be transferred to someone else.

The rep I talked to called HTC whom in return told him the update wasn't available yet for this phone. So I just rooted the phone using bubby's method. That opened up the 3rd party unknown sources.

Indeed. Not only that, but my parents both have bone stock inspires, and I checked their phones out of curiosity, and sure enough, they have "unknown sources" now.
Keep in mind, they don't have a friggin clue what it does, or that anything even changed on their phone.
Kinda funny how clueless parents get it without even asking for it, and the people desparate for it have to call up att.

Just ask them to push the Sideloading update to your phone. If they don't know what they are doing, then their customer support must be terrible.
your welcome works on my att inspire 4g. it will prompt for update. the update works without issue.
So there are people who have had success with att doing this then huh? I've called 3 different reps and no one could find anything. This is for my girlfriend's phone who does not want it rooted but one of the main selling points over the atrix was having the appstore.
I bought my phone from wind and it came with froyo. the gps used to work but ever since i put on eaglesblood rom my gps doesnt work. ive tried lots of other roms and my gps still wont lock on me does anyone know do you fix this?
not sure how much of a difference tmobile and wind models have, but you can always do some searching 1st. Google is awesome, usually brings me back here to xda. theres alot of fixes, you just need to search 1st, Then use trial and error. find what works for your phone. That worked for me before i updated my baseband to July which then resulted in instant GPS locks. Try search 1st. did you run a nandroid backup to restore to?
Sorry I know is blasphemy to say this but I'm sort of a newb. My younger brother got me familiar with how to root my phone and stuff and I'm pretty sure I have a July baseband but everytime I search I don't really find an answer. So I thought I'd give it a shot and just ask
For a long time it took between 5 and 10 minutes for me to get a lock. I tried every remedy out there and nothing helped. This was with the Weapon Rom. Well one day I screwed up something in recovery and had to start from scratch. Literally I had to reload Clockworkmod and start with nothing.
Anyway, after reloading Weapon 3.0 I get locks within 5 to 30 seconds. Have no idea why. I don't think the Rom has changed. I am not using any of the hacks, tweaks, apps etc. Just happy it works now.
Thats so strange when you mention that cause before eaglesblood, weapon g2x was my favourite. its a really good rom but yeah I just checked my baseband on my phone and it says Jun 05 2011. I know hardware wise tmobile and wind g2x are the same, winds' just has no bloatware on it really. No t-mobile apps

Settings>about phone>baseband version should say jul15 in there somewhere.

Hi everyone. I installed the new weapon rom last night (even followed the steps) and everything seemed to work fine. Able to listen to music, browse, text, etc... However, I tried making a phone call today and I get a clicking sound. The person on the other end can't hear me. They tried calling me back and when I answered I get a clicking sound.
I'm not sure what to do at this point. Everything else works just fine. I don't know if there's a setting that needs to be changed or what. This is the first ROM I've installed on this phone. I've been using cooked windows phones up until now so this is all new territory to me.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

You can't say just thanks.. You have to click the button THANKS on the posts.
About your query, your BB isn't compatible with the rom. Only kwes1020 rooted rom in dev section is good for this BB.

You have to use stock rom because this is the only rom that will work with new baseband
Why does he HAVE to hit thanks, lol? I don't see why people ask for it, its just a number showing how many people actually care to click a button for your answer about there laziness to search. We all know you are being helpful no need to ask for thanks. Its like asking for likes on YouTube or Facebook.

Its out of respect, dude. Many ppl who are searching here are in the panic state of mind regarding their problem. Mostly noobs don't even know about it (i was one of them thou i m still a noob ^_^). Just educating here.

Alas I apologize. It wasn't 2 pages it was 2 lines from my post. Didn't t realize what was causing the issue so I didn't bother looking at it. Now I know for next time.
So here's a question. Would it be better to downgrade the band or just take the stock rom? I love the custom but I don't know what issues I face if I choose to downgrade.

Here is the thing you can try downgrading your BB but I'm not sure if it will work or you can wait for the custom roms with the current BB, I'm sure it will be comming soon.
Don't blame me if you brick your phone, here are some instructions on how to do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1610597.
Make sure you are using win7 32bit or win XP 32bit and replace V21Y_00.kdz with V21E_00.kdz. Good luck
What he said if you want to use anything besides the custom 2.3.4 rom built by kwes. But its not a bad rom at all.

It all depends on how far and willing you want to go. If it were me, I'd just get the 2.3.4 that kwes put up, cause I'm just lazy.

Hi, I installed CM10 AOKP on my two cousin's Verizon SIII.
I use it on my ATT SIII and loved it so I thought they would also.
But they are married and wanted to share the same Google Play account. I suggested against it but they got stubborn.
Things went well until now. But I'm not sure if it's related.
I had them purchase Enhanced Email. It installed without any problem on the first phone.
But the second phone that it was installed to has a slight problem. Everytime she reboots the phone, the app is uninstalled.
Anyone know if this is a bug or expected behavior or something? I'm looking for answers before I walk them through t/s because they are a four hour drive from me.
I posted the question on the EE forums but nobody has answered and it's already been several hours.

My buddy is having problems with his cell signal, his 4g is working fine, I need to find where I can reflash his radios. Through search I couldnt find them. Is there anyone who knows where they are? or if they go by a different name?

If it is indeed within one year and you are sure its a hardware failure then keep trying. Call back until you find someone willing to replace it. If that doesnt work call Samsung.

Unfortunately for him the screen is cracked and according to a verizon rep
"the fall that cracked the screen could have caused the malfunction and we cant replace the device"
