So to sum it up, I don't personally have a skyrocket, but I have a friend who looks to me for custom roms, root, etc for his skyrocket. I've been doing the ROM flashing thing for like 3 years and I've never had issues. Yet it seems every time I flash something to his phone I'll get a call a month or so down the road saying its unbearably slow or that it takes minutes to make a phone call. Is there some step that I've been missing? How does this always happen? I realize they're different phones, but I've flashed countless roms for multiple periods of time on my Xoom, Gnex, and Eris without any issues. Can anyone shed some light on this? Its been driving me crazy.
Thanks for any help,
Ryan

Can you expand on what is slow? If it is just apps MOT UISNG internet, then his process memory/cache/whatever is gettiing full. Does he ever reboot the phone? Restarting the phone clears memory and will do wonders.
If he is using any app like Task killer or Task manager then he is screwing things up. With the the SGS II, there is no need to kill processes, since that only worsens things.
If he restarts phone, does it recover its speed? Can u check that?
EDIT: If it is internet - i do not see how that could be related to making a call, but still otherwise - then he is being throttled.
Thanks I'll text him and see what I can find out. As of now I think he's running the modified leaked ICS roms that came out like a day after the leak. We live on opposite sides of the state so I rarely see him.
**Edit: there's no way he's being throttled. He's the most data conscious person I know. Barely used 300mb of his 2gb the last few months.

The very first ROMs of the ICS leak had a lag problem. The newer ones quickly got rid of that.
This is a copy paste of his response asking what was wrong:
"I'm not using a task manager at all. First off, the phone freezes every so often and it shuts down by itself when it freezes. That aside, I've rebooted the phone literally dozens of times because it starts acting funny...like, apps will randomly stop working, the home button won't work, etc. Then adding to that, the phone feature is soooooooooo slow. If I tap on the phone to make a call, it takes about 5 seconds to open. Then any numbers I punch in take about 4 to 5 seconds each to appear. If I want to call somebody out of my call history list, it will take at minimum 5 seconds to open, and then selecting the person to call can take up to 10 seconds to respond. Finally, the home screens lag somewhat when I scroll between them and the lock screen is always on, no matter how many times I turn it off. Lol kind of a lot of problems huh?"
So new ICS ROM seems to be the general consensus? Thanks again guys.

Is his current data very important to him? Looks like a sub-optimal flash. It happened to me before - the exact symptoms. Since he is far off from you, he can do the following:
1. Reboot to CWM recovery.
2. Wipe data/factory reset.
3. Wipe dalvik cache.
Of course his favorite apps will be gone......
The more sure way is to reflash, but this time do the above steps along with Mounts&storage>>Format>>system, data, cache
Then reflash the ROM. Of course again his favorite stuff will vanish,
To avoid this he can do a nandroid backup, or Titanium bakup, but then replacing those apps back MAY re-corrupt his system.
Will check back later.......
EDIT: ALso, in some ROMS if you flash radio, kernel and ROM separately, the order matters.
I can figure out a way to back his apps up if I tell him how to use TiBu right? I'll be skyping him later thus weekend to try and figure it out. If he wipes this way it won't erase EVERYTHING on the internal storage right? As in camera pictures will be saved correct? Ill try to walk him through a CWM flashing, shouldn't be too difficult. Any ROM suggestions you have currently for me, prioritizing stability over most everything? Thanks again.

Screw backing up his apps. There is issues with restoring apps and ICS. He should reinstall the ROM or download a new one. And no, pictures and media won't be touched. And I recommend the latter.. Embryo 2.1 is amazing and silky smooth and I have zero issues with it. Had a few that I quickly fixed

Are you implying there's issues restoring for ICS and the skyrocket? That would be understandable maybe, but I know for a fact there isn't for just ICS in general. Thanks for the ROM btw, I'll look into it. If it means anything, he's using AT&T.

Lol im similar i have a rocket with no issues using smooth ice and really tried most of the other roms but i have a friend who also has one and when i put roms on his phone he's always having issues a few days later. I know he's doing something dumb that is slowing him down but still he blames me and says just put it back to stock

Glad I'm not the only one in that boat. I swear I have no idea what happens to other peoples phones once I flash stuff on them. Mom and sisters nook color is running fine still. Flashed a ROM on an OG Droid for a different friend a few months back and within two weeks he had me fix it because *I* messed it up (How the hell he managed to delete the launcher and google framework packages is beyond me :what: ). Guess there's a reason root is disabled when you purchase a phone . Although I still don't understand how problems arise weeks if not months later and the fingers are always pointed back to me. /rant sorry.
I'll be checking out the two ROMs suggested here shortly then making a detailed email out to him. Thanks again everyone.

Haha, let them figure out how to modify their own devices. It will only help them to know what they are doing and you will have less problems.
You are most correct. For the most part, unless its a close friend I will refrain from doing anything. I've had too many instances where people don't understand what I'm telling them. For example, the mere installation of juicedefender on a colleagues phone caused "me to be unable to get Facebook messages or words with friends notifications instantly unless I turned the screen on and I had to take it to the store to get repaired" :banghead: WELL YES. What did you think I meant when I told you your data services would be suspended to save battery while the screen was off? TLDR: Family only or I'll make you learn yourself (or sign a waiver )

Yes, I have learned to be very selective in helping people run roms and such. If they don't understand what it means to clear cache, dalvik, fix permissions, etc.. they are gonna have problems. They need to understand the basics of custom roms, rooting, and the like before they can even consider using anything but stock. They simply have no business running a custom rom, and some are buggy, which makes it far worse. Our ICS leak needs some TLC and some knowledge to keep it running and debug when problems arise. This is something a "buddy" with no knowledge is not gonna be able to fix, and he will have problems. Even Gb customs have issues which require basic knowledge to fix. Our "buddies" need to read the forums and equip themselves with some knowledge before doing or running anything other than stock.
I guess I'm just used to having phones with a larger development community (Nexus, Eris, OG Droid, Nook). The one here is stellar, don't get me wrong, but I've had numerous android devices with flash and forget ROMs that I may have incorrectly assumed all phones had these. My apologies to anyone who takes that offensively, it wasn't intended to be. There are tons of great devs here who continue to impress me, but the population of this dev forum compared to the GNex for example, is much smaller.
Tldr again: I incorrectly assumed most phones had flash and forget ROMs. Is there anything close to stock I can just flash and root for said buddy? Ideally a stock rooted ROM would be best I think.

Thanks a bunch. I'll say its safe to assume there's no stable ICS yet? I don't mind GB at all, I just foresee issues converting said friend to use GB since he's asked me most every day up till the leak about when ICS was coming.

Well, I consider it stable with both seanz's ucld2 sky ics and nexusmods beta 7, but there are a couple bugs. If your buddy just needs a rom that runs and doesn't need fixing every now and again he should probably stay on Gb.
Sounds like a good plan.. is there anything in particular I need to do to go from the leak down to GB?

question for the "doc" lol, saw where everyone was talking about the "not working" apps in the dev thread, can we not go in and remove the apps ourselves? I just went in and removed TiBu with root explorer and re-installed the version i purchased then went in and removed all the apps that don't work or not gonna use, or was that not something I should have not did?

It's probably fine.
After you reinstalled TiBu were you able to update? I know there were a few people that were having issues with the TiBu not updating.
I once heard though, that it's better to freeze unwanted apps rather than uninstalling. Something to do with OTA updates looking for the bloatware in order to validate that your system is not hacked/rooted. Anyway, it's probably not a big deal, just ever since I read that I always just freeze rather than uninstall. Unless its an app I put on there and or I know that it's not something AT&T put on there. But myself, I would apply that same theory to any of the things included with the ROM, anything I don't want I'll freeze rather than uninstall.
Let us know if that worked for the updating of TiBu.

i could not update the TiBu that came with the rom but once I removed it and re-installed from market then the key no problems.. i did not know that about freezing the apps Ill remember that from the future, i just uninstalled the add on apps anyways I.E. ext4, reboot etc... so hope I will be good to go, if not gotten really good at odin and reflashing lol. I installed the rom, and have used it for a little over a day now.. I love the theme, and its def snappy, but has a few problems me and a friend found. We've both put the rom on our Infuses.
For a few flashes, my home button wouldn't work, but I think that was narrowed to backing up system data.. it now works for me though. On the first flash try, all calls being made TO my phone just got a busy signal, but I could call out.. My friend's phone calls only works when calling out. When he receives a call, itll end the call about 5 seconds into it.
He cannot turn his phone on while its plugged into the charger.. it wont do anything when he holds the power button. I cannot get root explorer to work, no matter what. I've reinstalled it, fixed permissions, still nothing. I now use another app to access it. When ever I get a new email and notification, my phone will freeze and reboot. I've had quite a few random reboots today as well, with my friend having only a few. It even rebooted while in the middle of a phone call.
I've tried a few different kernels, but not sure if i know when it installs correctly other than the phone boots up... I know the voodo kernel hasnt worked at all... itll sit on the samsung screen for at least 30 mins a few different tries.

Sounds like you have a bad flash. I'd start over, make sure you do your proper wiping. And read over the Dev section there are a lot of additional steps spread throughout. I will try to compile them into one post when I get some free time. Good luck.

I've redownloaded the flash to my computer twice, recopied it to my phone twice, started with a complete fresh rom using odin that was already rooted and CWM installed, and wiped all data possible. I've followed all the steps, done reboots in between sometimes just to try something different.. I've reflashed my rom at least 6 times in the past two days maybe trying different things .
has anyone had bad battery drain with this? last night i charged 100% before went to bed, had JD running on aggressive mode, wifi anf BT disabled as well as setcpu no OC and profile for 400/100 when screen off.... got up this morning 6 hours and was at 38%, ive been running the rom for days now so i think its had time to bake but not sure what else to do? any suggestions.

Hi all,
just bought an Inspire off CL, and unfortunately didn't reallize that the screen won't rotate. I trired recalibrating, but it kept being aborted even though I put the phone flat on the table on its back. A search turned up tons of complaints from about a year ago with few resolutions, and none worked for me (reboot, recalibrate, kill all apps with adv task killer, switch sim card, etc.)
So the big question is, would rooting the phone and flash custom rom solve the problem? Has anyone solved the problem with the g-sensor?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk
Is the phone rooted? Some roms have customizations to lock the screen and keep it from rotating. Do any screens rotate? Or is the home screen just not rotating?
Try going to home> settings> display and check auto rotate screen.
Sent from Soundwave aboard Nemesis.
Auto-rotate is checked. Apps the should rotate (e.g. Google search, email) don't rotate, and most frustrating is that games that use the g-sensor just won't work. The phone is running stock Gb 2.3.3.

If not rooted I would root and try a custom rom would hurt nothing. But make sure you use Ace Hack Kit and no out of XDA method. Also read, read, then read the Effen manual and make sure your knowledged on the steps for rooting. If you get stuck anywhere there is an IRC chat connection in the Ace Hack Kit page.
The thing about buying used phones from someone else is like buying a used car. Your basically buying some elses headache.
The other option would be to return to seller for money back, your option.
PS: If you decide to try out a ICS ROM remember that the kernels are not fully released as of yet so some games will not fully work and do have a few bugs depending on how it reacts with your phone. For gingerbread I would try a few out and see which one you like.
(Absolution 3.7 , Coredroid 9.4) lol my preference but thats a can a worms you dont want to open here on XDA by asking which is best ROM so dont.
Welcome and Enjoy the learning.
Ok, so all the reading made the rooting process seem somewhat intimidating. However, when I actually screwed up the courage to do it, it was like, that's it? It's donde in under 5 minutes, and I hardly did anything!
So the good news is that the phone is now rooted and flashed with coredroid (looks nice!). The bad news is that there's no change in the problem with the g-sensor! I'm starting to suspect that it's more likely hardware. In any case, I wonder if there are any Roms that might have a better shot at fixing the problem? Somehow I have the probably wrong impression that a custom rom that's modded from stock aren't likely to fix my problem... Any suggestions?

Yeah, if you had a sensor problem before the root and it persists after, it is more then likely a hardware issue and no amount of rooting/flashing a new ROM is gonna fix it. If you're under warranty, unroot and send it back for a replacement.

Did you look in setting for rotation display settings. Some launchers like adw launcher lets you also check and uncheck rotation angles. All roms are great in their own way, try a few on for size but I would give them each at least a week or two of testing. A day or two is not really enough to get the feel of them. You can try Absolution 3.7 , Redemption Alpha 6 (ICS) , or even go over to the Desire HD Dev section and try out - Ice Cold Sandwich 7.2 (ICS) (also dont forget to flash inspirmod as well with this one). Also these three will get rid of the stock look.
Good Luck
The phone was bought off craigslist, so no hope of return or warranty. Rotate sreen in settings has been checked, as well as g-sensor calibration (which invariably ends in abort, even after rooting and flashing coredroid. I might try absolution in a few days.
The phone is for my son, and he cares a lot more whether the accelerometer works (for games) than how nice the rom looks.
One problem I found after flashing coredroid is that even at boot up tbe email app keep crashing (without me opening the app). Anyone knows whats up with this?

One problem I found after flashing coredroid is that even at boot up tbe email app keep crashing (without me opening the app). Anyone knows whats up with this?

Did you do a full wipe (factory, cache partition, dalvik) before flashing rom. Coredroid has a zip called full wipe 1.5 as well.
I flashed absolution, and it didn't help with the g-sensor problem at all. I put coredroid back, this time wiping data and cache, and the email problem went away. I guess my son will have to live with the g-sensor as is. Thanks to everyone who replied for the suggestions.

Been contemplating for a while whether to post this as it will come off as rather trollish. Had my Infuse for over a year now. When I first got it I noticed there were some "issues". I remained patient hoping or thinking maybe when GB was released it would improve. It did not. Later I needed to root this phone and came here, found a ROM that had all the AT&T junk stripped out. Phone worked better, but still had these issues.
I got to the point that I knew I would never again purchase either a Samsung phone or Android. Did not know what the culprit was. Just recently I had the chance to really take a look at an HTC EVO, and I realized that Samsung is the problem, not Android.
Number one issue is that this phone is sluggish, and sometimes unresponsive. I will touch whatever button and get that vibrating acknowledgement, but nothing happens. I will be in the app menu and wish to exist and the home button just does not respond.
Yesterday I missed a call because the bloody phone just did not respond, even though I touched the answer button. Other times I just can not make a call. I dial number, and the phone just sits there doing nothing. Eventually I just pull out the battery and restart the phone to make a simple bloody call. I had a HTC WinMo phone for years and never once experienced this. No matter how farked the OS could get with some app or whatever, the phone function always worked.
I do not run a lot of apps, and recently have experienced these issues with almost literally no apps installed. I will then add something like GO taskmanger just to confirm that the unresponsive behavior is not due to some app taking up memory/CPU etc..
Sorry for the long post, but I am at my wits end with this bloody phone. The fact that I miss calls when the **** phone is right in my hand is unacceptable. So before placing this phone in a box filled with C4 and shooting this to the moon, hoping that maybe a solution is out there.
p.s. I have 2 Infuse in use, both have the same issue.
What firmware are you running?
Is it the same firmware on both phones?
What is the launcher?
Have you tried a different modem?
Are you using a battery saver like juice defender?
Are you using an ad blocker?
Are you using a specific kernel? Oc? Uv?
Need for specific info

You know, for the rather lengthy post, you really have not explained any detail about your issue.. You have a generic 'I have an issue, the Infuse sucks' post and its not going to help anyone resolve your issue. I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that you have 2 infuses having the SAME EXACT ISSUE. Yes, there will be times when you get a defective phone or it isnt working up to your standards, but to have 2 defective phones with the same defect? You need to play the lottery. Also, i suggest you send the phones back. It sounds like youve already made your mind up and have pretty much bashed the samsung infuse in that entire post. The same samsung infuse that myself, and plenty of other people live with day to day and have absolutely 0 complaints.
I will give you $20.00 a piece for them!!!!

Simple . Hack it and put cm7 on it if you really need speed. Maybe its your screen protecter. Wipe the screen off. Cm9 can be sluggish, for speed go to miui on gingerbread or cm7
Id be willing to buy one of the infuses
Trust me...sounds like you got two defective units...which like Scott, I find hard to believe...but hey its possible-idk when you got hem.but if it hasn't been a year then put them back to stock with gtgs unbrick and file a warranty claim with Samsung...the infuse is a great phone and I never had the problem you described...I do have a question though...did you get them both at the same time? Cause I don't see why you would get a second if your first was having problems
Anyways...if you wanna sell one hmu...I may buy one depending on the price and if I can get the money (I think I already may have one lined up for $170 just need to get the money)

Again this has been a recurring problem since purchase, and during this time I have had stock Froyo, rooted Froyo ROM, GB update, and for one now a the GB rooted ROM.
When the slow to unresponsiveness occurs there does not appear to be any specific cause. Prior to updating to the rooted GB I had used GO Taskmanager, and long before that some other app I long since forgot the name of. Point was that they had shown that neither CPU was excessive, or memory was used up. Both phones have data services disabled and are strictly Wifi only. There are no tasks or extra programs run in the background (though did install Connectbot today). I no longer use any Live wallpaper. After updating to the rooted GB I left the phone in that state (no software installed) for a week or so, and the problem still occured.
This occurs when calling or answering calls, but as previously posted occurs sometimes just opening the Applications menu as an example. So it is not a specific task or program that is slow or unresponsive. Earlier this evening I got a call, slide the bar across to answer and the screen just hung there for a few moments. This time it was at least not long enough that I missed the call. When the call was done I looked and there simply was nothing running on the phone. No apps, no web browser or mail, in fact I was not even connected to the wifi (I have data 3G/4G service disabled on the phone).
are you completely wiping before every flash youve done? have you tried a complete wipe and start from fresh?

Task manager is NOT the best app to tell you what is running in the background.
Maps and other location apps may not be listed but will consume resourse that can be the cause of your lag.
The fact that stopping wallpaper or live wall paper off alleviate the condition may suggest that the phone is running at max capacity. Steps to reduce the load improves it. Live wp, facebook, maps, stock email and other device manager from stock att was one of the first @#$% I took out on any rom I run.
Having a large amount of apps installed can also cause this lag. The OS may only be able to handle so many.
Have a poor signal at the time of the call may also be an issue, especially if both of your phones have this issue occasionally but not consistently.
Lock screen can also be a factor. Some sleep setting may also cause the phone to wake up poorly. I get around this by turning off my lock screen. On the call settings, you can also change the answering options so that it will override others and make it easy to answer.
On any firmware - stock or modded, after you have the phone running for an extended period of time without a reboot, you may start to see some lags. This may be across all devices. You may need to reboot it occasionally or boot into recovery and wipe the cache.
These issues may or not go away once you have a device with more power or resources..ex: dual or quad core, 1gb or 2gb ram etc..my guess is when a device has more power, programmers will come up with more resourse intensive apps that may hinder the phone as well.
Lastly, pay attention to your battery meter. As the power dips below 30%, there are steps taken by the OS to conserve the battery. This may give you lags as well..possibly one of the reason why it seems random also.
If you wanted to test out the lag issue due to background apps, go to settings/account and sync. turn off background data. You will retain the (radio) phone and text but there will be no email/facebook, weather, widgets/market/amazon etc updates unless you manually update them. If this runs smoothly but lags when you turn it back on, you can start the process of narrowing down your culprit.

I have not met a more destructive rom than the d2vzw MIUI port.
When I first flashed it a month ago, it was so unstable that I had to re Odin.
But that was nothing compared to the past 12 hours.
I tried a newer build. Still buggy. Wipes my MIN.
I spend the rest of the day zero-bar roaming and throwing every CDMA tool available at the problem.
Nothing worked until I wrote my efs.sbn backup to the phone. It was the last thing I was going to try before going to Verizon and and I never thought I would have to use the backup. I'm glad the MEID loss scare got people serious about backups.
Stay away from MIUI. Not all AOSP is created equal. Backup your efs. You will need it.
Disappointed to come in here and read that your phone wasn't bricked & that miui didn't get your phone wet.

I love miui, been using it for a few weeks on this phone and before this one I used it almost exclusively on my other three phones. I too lost my data and EIME, had backup thankfully but spent a few hours trying to get the darn thing working again. Ended up using nvrestore as a last resort and thankfully it worked. Miui is awesome, I can't wait for the kinks to get more ironed out.
No rom works the same on every phone. Sorry you had a bad experience with MIUI but there are many others on here who are using it as a daily driver with no problems.

I've been a little flash happy lately. I had not tried MIUI but had read about it. Watched the little vid clip. Why not? I generally scan the entire thread on a new rom so I was surprised when I found no app drawer. I thought it was broken. So I waited a couple of days and tried the Official drop. I was playing around with it (still no app drawer of course) looking for Titanium BU when I noticed something on the notification bar. I pulled it down and touch it. something about roaming. I looked through it and the locations were all overseas. Did I miss something? Nothing in the post said anything about a potential bomb built into this thing. After I let it go, I noticed my connection was gone. Nandroid backups did not help. I picked around and got my data back, but only 3g. I ended up calling Verizon and told them I *228'd my phone and they reprogrammed my SIM. All is well now, but I'm going to be more careful and I too am avoiding the MIUI roms.
I've never seen the appeal of MIUI. Sure, it's cute, fun, and different - but I lost interest after about 3 days on my OG droid.

I thought flashing was at your own risk? Anytime I flash I assume I am using my phone as a chip on the blackjack table. Though the odds are in my favor, it's still a gamble. Don't flash if your not up for dealing with a worse case scenario.
I do appreciate the update on your experience, but to deem the rom essentially as a virus is a bit off the mark. Not knocking your post, but your post may scare alot of people away from that developers hard work. All phones, and more importantly all users are different and your experience WILL NOT be everyone else's.
I love the MIUI interface and many of its features, but I have never been able to fun a stable version on any of my phones. Too bad, there are always bugs needed to be worked out in MIUI roms it seems, specially with data.

The problem is common with all AOSP roms which is why I stick to the TW ones for now. MIUI is a fantastic rom, I really miss it after using it for years on my Evo.
It all comes from proper prep. There are so many instances of aosp causing issues for users, but they stem from coming from tw/or back to it. Our friend above (prdog) gave me a wonderful education on cleansing before flashing, and I have yet to have an issue. Learn and understand your system, the partitions created and how they are/are not affected by certain wipes, and know that tw/aosp are very different and need to be treated as such. Don't be lazy, treat going from one to another as a new phone and let titanium be your friend. Always format your system regardless of what others may tell you, even on a dirty flash. It's insurance and pays off in the end.

As for reading about the ROM, where? I looked again, can't find it. I'll allow that the app drawer might be my own fault but that wasn't what distracted me for 4 hours and then the call to Verizon. It was the "roaming bomb". That was not mentioned either. Why would a U.S. ROM contain that? I know flash at my own risk and I do. I've never complained before and I really don't think I'm complaining now. I saw this thread and agree is all. This one wasn't ready for prime time.
So I was listening to Pandora and texting when suddenly my phone turned off the screen. It was still playing music so I tried to hit the lock button so it would unlock but it wouldn't I tried it a couple times and still nothing. I then waited and while and nothing..Then I took off the battery and it was still playing music as if it still had the battery...for like 15 seconds. Then it tried turning on over and over without the battery on. Now it wont turn on at all. I've tried connecting it to charger, taking out battery, nothing. What happened?

No it was not. Normal Temperature.
Try to force it into recovery or download first. Had you flashed a new ROM (doesn't matter which one) recently?
Almost sounds like just a freak thing man if you can get her into DL or recovery I would consider stock for a few days in case it was hw failure just to monitor it otherwise restore a backup or flash something and drive on
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
The ROM I'm running right now is CyanogenMod the latest stable one. And is there anything else I could do instead of restoring? Because I'm going to lose a ton of stuff..
Well you can hope it will reboot . But that seems unlikely
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
If you flash a new rom you won't lose your data. You'll only lose apps and settings and stuff. Which you can backup with recovery (unless you meant download) if you can't get to recovery there's not much you can do for your settings. But reflashing won't touch any pictures or anything on the internal sd card.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, perhaps a hard ware fault, but I am starting to believe there is more to this. I have seen the same thing happening quite frequently lately, and each device yes even my wife's iphone 4 did the same thing while she was listening to Pandora, as well as my niece with her Galaxy S II. Same as you experienced, she was listening to Pandora and was texting a friend, then the phone went dead.
So it is not localized to either iPhone or Android devices from the information I have been gathering. When I took my wife's iPhone to the apple store here in Anchorage, the rep I was dealing with informed me that they have had several in the last week that had the same issue, while doing the same thing as your device did. Of course all he could say was if it is under warranty they will give my wife a new one. So she did, just like many others.
I also spoke with Daniel @ Pandora and informed him of the same issue that was with my wife & nieces iPhones, as well as android devices. His reply was that Our app is not 100% designed for use with the latest iOS release, and not for android devices running Jelly Bean. We have had several complaints about this happening to both types of devices, you have to remove the battery and reboot the system. I asked him how to do that with an iPhone, and he informed me to "remove the back panel and the battery will pop out." After I laughed at him I reminded him that it is not possible for the AVERAGE user to remove the iPhone battery, but it is quite easily done on most Android devices.
Once I was able to get him to realize that the iPhone battery does not come out, he "remembered" that and informed me to uninstall the Pandora app, clear caches and reinstall the app. I then asked him how to do that since the screen would not come on? His reply was "well it looks like your phone is dead, you might want to go get a new iPhone. I informed him that I had already done so with my wife's iPhone but was working off of my nieces S II now. Ok, back through the script we go. Battery out, yadda yadda. Informed me that Pandora does not offer support for rooted devices or devices on UN OFFICIAL ROM'S, and JAILBROKEN iPhones.
I informed him I was working off of a bone stock Samsung Galaxy S II and that while my niece was listening to Pandora and sent a text message that is when the device was rendered useless. The S II was still dead screened at the time, and I had left the phone plugged into the wall charger for over 24 hours, so the battery should not be dead. Continued through the script with him, and finally I asked him, "Ok why is it that 2 different devices, running 2 different operating systems running the same Pandora app would both be rendered useless from listening to Pandora & sending a text?" His reply was We do not offer support for rooted devices.
Now I am not 100% blaming Pandora nor am I saying that their app is 100% at fault, but it is apparently an issue with the app itself possibly using too much system resources, and when another app wants some of those resources the Pandora app causes a force close that is not easily recovered from.
If your Skyrocket is still under warranty, or you bought extended warranty, I would highly recommend as above to return the phone to bone stock if at all possible, get all you need off of it that you do not want to lose, and run Pandora again, and see if it does the same thing, if so then return the device.
Interesting, so Pandora's app is not compatible with JB or iOS6. I'll have to take it off both my phones; TuneIn and iHeartRadio are better anyway lol
Interesting. I was listening to Pandora and running GPS. Mine froze up for a very long time, then rebooted itself.

Custom ROM flash failures
Hello,
I have Flashed ROMS with CWM recovery before with success, but recently have been getting failures. I can however, Flash with Odin still. The log I get with CWM REcovery is attached.
Search "adb" for backing up your current info before flashing anything.

That is what I was informed, but with hundreds of thousands of devices running JB I don't fully understand the issue there. It's good that your's rebooted itself. My nieces never rebooted, neither did my wife's. Again I am not sure of the issue, and would love to have a log of some one running it on their device, so that I could further investigate.

No worries, but now I get to go and buy my wife a NEW iphone 5. Again she was listening to Pandora, and received a text message (this was on her 4S). screen went out, sounds stopped, and the life of her 4S was extinguished. I think it was on purpose, so that she could get the i5. But never the less I was actually there this time when it happened.
POOF, dead. *sigh* now if only ALL iphones would do this I would be happy.

Damn. I think she did it on purpose too. I would've immediately uninstalled Pandora if I was her. She killed it on purpose!
