Hi guys!
I've been relocked bootloader on my Xperia Play (as i find on Developer forum), just a question... can i update via OTA to ICS? Or there is risk of brick?
I tried to IDENTIFY my smartphone using s1tool and i found that "loader version" and "running" had RXXX as value and not rXXX.
So this means that bootloader relock was successfully completed right?

Right now I have the 4.0.4 Android( stock version) of the xperia j with locked bootloader and I've rooted-it and I've also installed the CWM.
I would like to install Cyanogen Mod 10.1 but since I have the 11.0.A.7.5 firmware I have locked bootloader and I can not flash it.
My question is if I can flash an older stock firmware and by doing so will I be able to unlock my bootloader?
From what I understand right now since I have a locked bootloader I can only flash stock ROMs so if that is correct than can I just flash an older stock ROM, one that will allow me to unlock my bootloader and than flash CM 10.1 on my Xperia J?
And another question- I know that by unlocking the bootloader I will also loose my warranty but from searching the XDA forums I saw that I can make a backup copy of my stock ROM and flash it to relock the bootloader again. Is that accurate ?
Thanks in advance for your help!
First is your bootloader unlockable. Then you can unlock on any firmware via sonys website. I dont think there's a cm10.1 released for j. If you unlock your bootloader you will loose DRM keys forever even if you relock they will still be gone that's how Sony will know your bootloader was unlocked.
It is not unlockable, that is why I wanted to flash another version of a stock ICS.
Won't that allow me to unlock the bootloader ?
From what I understood right now I can only flash stock Roms with the locked bootloader, is it correct or since I have the "NO" status at the bootloader I can't even do any of that ?
I have updated Xperia J from ICS to JB. Its bootloader unlock allowed says YES but its not unlocked. The phone is in warrenty. I want to go back to ICS 11.0.A.7.5 as rooting is hard in JB.
I have some questions:
1. If I flash with flashtools, is it necessary to unlock the BootLoader?
2.After flashing ICS, in future If I want to flash JB with Flashtools, will then I have to unlock the BootLoader?
I dont want to unlock BL as the phone is under warrenty.
Thanks....
As far as I know Flashing ftf file using flashtool doesn't require boatloader unlock bro. And it won't unlock your bootlader. So if you flash ics, the boatloader will still be locked. And you can use flashtool at any time to flash jb ftf.
Hit the thanks button instead of telling it....
thank you

Click to collapse
if you wan,t to flash stock firmware then no need to unlock bootloader.
cause you flash firmware (*.FTF) using flash mode not fastboot(bootloader).
so you don,t have to worry of unlocking bootloader.
ok, thank you for your reply!
i was unlock my bootloader so i cant update by my phone to android 8 in the phone now i lock my bootloader why i still cant update my phone ? what do i do ? where is the problem
I think you are talking about OTA ??
You can't have OTA in a unlocked or relocked phone.
Use Flashtool to flash the FTF.
