Hi there,
This is my first message in that forum. You guys do a great job. First of all thanks cause i succeed in root and flash rom on my phone with all the help found in here.
Well i m on HTC Desire HD rooted on Android EvolutionHD 6.3.2 by mike 1986. Very good work. Everything works fine.
The problem is i used the program backup everything also called backup manager or "sauvegarde rapide" in french to save my sms
When i wanted to restore them i saw that messages are not attributed to the good message... I really dont understand. I tried to restore several time problem still the same.
For next change i ll use Titanium but i really need to put back in order my sms first.
Any ideas?
Nobody has this problem?
The restore mess up my text messages. Its very annoying.
When i send or receive a new message its associated to the correct contact. But the messages before the new message are from another contacts...
For example if X send me a message. I see that x sent me a message but when i want to see all x messages. I can see the correct association with x contact for the very last message but the messages before (from the restore) are associated to y
Is there a way to repair that or its just ****et up??

Hi
I have an xda 2.
I recently carried out a hard reset to clean up my xda 2.
Unfortunately when I tried restoring my back up (from active sync) there appears 2 be a problem with old sms messages.
I had created a number of sub-folders where I had moved my old messages.
I can see the old sms messages in the folder but I can not open, read or forward them. There are no problems with new sms messages.
Has anyone come acrosss this before and can you advise me on how to retrieve these please?
Thanks.
Salim
....No response...does noboby love me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well I've had a look through the forums and have foubd similarish problems but nothing seems to help
This is wht I have done so far
1. Downloaded mobile vault to interrogate my back up - but this has proved futile as when I go to where I believe the sms messages are the ones I want are blank (even though I can see them in the sms folder but not expand them).
2. I downloaded Jeye Mobile companion and Jeyo Outlook extender
JMC did not help much
Jeyo Outlook Extender will let me read the SMS messages that are in my inbox (but not accessible via the XDA II). However, any stored in the other folders I have set up are not accessible (I don't seem to be able to see the folders I have set up on the XDA II).
3. I have performed more hard resets - and backups any sms in the back up (even in the inbox) suffer the same fate of not being readable (But I have now backed up mu more recent ones elsewhere).
Well I'm exhausting my options now.
Any help would be more than welcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(I have searched the forums but haven't had much luck - if anyone knows of a similar post that has had a reply then could they point me to it).
Any news
Has anyone ever found a way round this?
Similar problem - looking for a solution also.
I had to restore after my SPV M2000 hard reset itself and I cannot view Old or NEW sms messages (apart from when the message bubble is shown as a new message arrives). My messaging inbox, drafts, outbox and deleted items all show the number of messages in them, but I cannot view or access any of them.
Is there any way these messages can be accessed or deleted?
Help!!
Any solution yet
Hi... has anyone figured a way around this yet?
I've spoken to someone at o2 and they said it had something to do with the way the inbox is recognised/linked.
After a hard reset the system is given a new id...but the old messages are linked to an older id....
There must be someway around this.
If I can see the message headers surely there must eb a way of reading the messages!!!!!
HELP PLEASE
A work around if you're stuck
I use Sprite backup which caused this problem after a restore. After raising it with their support team they supplied me with the attached file which allows SMS messages to be received and read.
BE AWARE that all messages on the device will be deleted, but new messages received will work. This will erase SMS, MMS & any emails that are on the device, so use with caution. Make sure you have a full backup!!!
I've been using Sprite backup every time i reinstall a rom. And save my contacts, email and sms, call history etc. None of the system stuff as I like to have a clean start.
But every time I reinstall the backup, the contacts show up like usuly but when ever they call me, it shows up like a new number and ask me if I want to save it to a existing contact or new, if I choose existing contact and save the number it says I have to replace the one I got saved already because it the same number. And after i do that if the contact calls me he shows up. So its like sprite backups the contact but still doesnt really save them or something?
Anyone please? Cause its really annoying. Same with email. I get all my mails and can receive emails and send. But if I choose to edit the account. There isnt any email adress saved.
Thanks for the help!

PIM backup restorals do not work well with Manila.
It is better to use a virtual backup like Microsoft My Phone.
I'll try it out! Thanks alot mate!
Hi there,
I updated my htc magic (android) to the new version of cm. So for this I restored a backup of my SMS. But I forgot to check off the button in the stock sms app to not delete old messaged (if there are more than 200 sms in a thred, they get deleted). So many many old messages got deleted.
But as I said, I got a backup of those old sms. and now there are already many new, which I dont want to lose.
So is there any possibility to merge those files, so that I'll have all my messages again?
Hope you understand my problem and you can help me =)
So far.
Hi guys, I've a problem:
I've a thread with 4.800 messages with a person, the problem is I can't open it with native HTC app from this morning. Someone know the reason? 4.800 msgs are too many? I tried do a msgs backup, delete all msgs and restore but it said me: "Can't restore". In this moment I use ChompSMS with no problem but I want use native app. I can open all threads except the one with 4.800 SMS
Thanks for all answer and sorry for my bad English
Up, I didn't resolve
You might have way too many messages. I know my buddy let his get up to 3000 & it started slowing down quite a bit. Why the hell would you want to restore 4800? Clean it out bro.
Im trying to back up my viber messages
I have htc desire x
i go into viber > settings > calls and messages > email message history and start creating the backup file.
it loads for a while and then exits the loading symbol (if you get what i mean) and just leaves me on the calls and messages page
i have 2 conversations, one is where ive been regularly deleting the messages and the 2nd is a conversation ive kept for months (maybe around 5 months) it has so many messages.
the first conversation backs up and emails fine but the second just wont backup and email.
im wondering if viber has a limit of messages you can have to backup your messages?
anyone got any tips to help me backup the second conversation because the first i really dont care about i just really want to save the second conversation.
i looked on many websites and ive tried the app backup text for viber but same as emailing my message history, it only backup the smaller conversation (1st one)
please help asap!
