I give up. Click on the recovery howto in my signature and flash custom recovery. After that, flash a rooted ROM. If you dislike this advice, then kindly search harder. People generally get irritated when then are answering the same questions 10 times a day because people are too lazy.

Hi guys, regarding the problem about rooting the original GB, it can be done, and it's not that complicated.
First of all there are a couple of things that you have to consider before starting to root.
1. Be sure that you have installed the original V20G GB ROM.
2. if you have it installed and tried different methods to root on it do a factory reset before trying this one.
3. Be absolutely sure that you have all the drives installed when working with the phone in USB debugging mode, if not install them.
4. Download SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse, after download extract the files into a folder with the same name as the archive.
5. After you extracted the files, go to C:\Windows\System32 and copy the cmd.exe to the folder where you extracted the files, in my case C:\Users\myuser\Desktop\SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse\ADB.
6. Connect the phone to the PC with Debugging mode (Enter the phone settings menu, to the Development and tick the USB debugging mode)
7. right click on cmd.exe from the ADB folder, Run as administrator, than write:
adb devices (after this command you should see your device id)
adb shell
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf,
Do not close the window, live it like that.
8. Start SuperOneClick.exe, leave the settings to the SuperOneClick as they are when it opens, click on ROOT and wait, it will say Starting ADB server..., than it will do it's job and than it will appear Waiting for device... it will say ok and that if it freezes while running psneuter do the following:
a. Turn USB Debugging OFF wait until it will appear in the window again Starting ADB server..., after that,
b. Turn USB Debugging ON, and after this trick it will start rooting.
This is the method that i did twice and it worked like a charm.
After this it will ask you to reboot the phone, DO NOT FORGET, and after the reboot click on the SuperUser icon in the phone's menu. it will aks you if you allow or deny it's access. click allow. After this you must connect to the internet via Wireless or a apn, click on the superuser icon again if you exit it, go to settings, scroll down and you will see Su Binary v.XXXX, click on that to update it, than go to market and search the super user app and update it. Also update busybox. After this you have root access and you can install a custom recovery. Also you can install your preferred Kernel if you don't like the stock one.
If you do not get the Allow Deny message the root was not completed successfully. do a factory reset and try again the same steps.

Well, I installed V20 C via doktornotor method but couldn root it by flashing the signed su binary via recovery.
So I tried the above mentioned method and it worked. But every time the Superuser Force closes and its too buggy.. Any solutions. ?

Just use his image, BUT dont use su-2.3.6.3-cd-signed.zip
Download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110733 su-2.3.6.2-efgh-signed.zip and install it wia clockworkmod recovery zip installer and works like a charm

Should I type the comma at the end on cmd? Can you please explain what exactly the above command does? Does it create the above file on the above filepath on device? If I typed both
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
and
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf,
should I erase one of these files?

Actually I want root my LG Optimus One .I have INDIA phone with official V20c Rom. Can anybody help me how to root my phone without any risk of bricking it. I have also read many thread about rooting 2.3.3 through super one click {like this one h**p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200167} but people were saying something about force close errors... So can anybody provide me a successful and error free method of rooting it. and Please also share me the method to unroot it.

I've read in a topic that I can't find, that after rooting usb debugging should always be on and disabling it could cause problems. I can't remember what kind of problems. Is that true? Should I keep it enabled?

Thanks for the post. But i want to know which drivers? People like me do not know about this so please help. I can connect my phone via usb as i downloaded lg support tool and it installed the driver or drivers. Is that enough?

I can't use the tools I used for rooting anymore.
I've tried GingerBreak 1.2 and SuperOneClick, but they don't work. Is there any way to root android 2.3.3?
I don't have the same phone as you, but when the G2X had the Gingerbread update SuperOneClick didn't work either... The workaround was to flash CWM and from there flash your own custom ROM that came pre-rooted. Though if you want to keep the stock ROM and root it, I guess you might have to wait for someone to root that..
sorry, whats a CWM? Does flashing require "unlocking" the bootloader? Can that be undone (to not void the warranty when sending the device back)?

First adb.exe is not in the top folder, it's in its own folder "ADB".

But then theres this comma in the end. Firstly he could just put the code in a [ code ] tag. I assume he put the comma to separate the text, so I didnt write that. I entered the last line in command line and nothing seemed to happen. No error messages either.

And no, it didnt work, I tied toggling USB Debugging with no difference. The superoneclick window is frozen and it's possible I'll break the phone again if I'll stop the process now. Nice...

UPDATED NOVEMBER 13, 2013; Most Recent Version
You will need to download/install the following before starting:
Acer Iconia Tab A110 USB Drivers (Should install on first connect of tablet)
Android SDK
SuperSU
a110-412-CWM-recovery.img Mirror: a110-412-CWM-recovery.img mirror

Once downloaded, extract the Android SDK to a known location, such as the Desktop. (Use an extracting application such as Winrar)
Next, install the Nexus 7 Toolkit.
___________________________________________________________________________
Once that is complete, you can begin the rooting process.
On your device go to:

Turn Developer Options on at the top, and enable USB debugging.
Navigate to your Android SDK folder:

Copy and paste the recovery file in this directory, and copy the SuperSU files to the Tablet's SD Card. This will make the process easier later.

Now, the device should be recognized and the root can continue.[/Code]

On the device, use the volume buttons to navigate and power button to choose.
Select Install from SD.
Now type:
Navigate to the CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip file.
You should receive a complete message.
Once that is complete, on the tablet, navigate to reboot, select yes at the prompt, and the tablet will reboot.
You are now successfully rooted on 4.1.2!

There is currently no way to make a full nandroid. However, if you want to back up the contents such as apps and data, use an app like my backup pro or titanium backup.
Make sure that it saves on external SD, not internal or you'll lose everything.

Did you download the most recent version of ADB?
Make sure you install all the drivers and follow the beginning of the guide.
Completed process but no root
I finished the process but it did not work with the first img I will try with the other one

How did you try unlocking the bootloader?
after you type "fastboot oem unlock" look at your tab and use the buttons to select it. It gives you about 10 seconds until it reboots back to the bootloader
Oh and I can't get the sideload to kick in. I put in "CWM-SuperSU-v0.99.zip" but it doesn't do anything.
Im wondering if I can push it over using adb install bc adb sideload isn't working?

Yes i am having the same problem, mine does not see a110 but refers to google galaxy nexus adb interface. I have tried this about half a dozen times with the same result, no root. Oh well try try again. Do i need to factory restore after each failed attempt?

I have tried this guide about 15 times... I factory reset after each try... I uninstall the drivers on the pc and make sure I install the Acer drivers.... Follow the guide to the letter... Install the google drivers... I do the sideload of su and it looks like works.... but not root... I am not sure why... Everything looks good... I am unlocked... the recovery image loads well... I replace the drivers..... I sideload.... no root.... So strange.... I guess I should just be happy it is not bricked .. .lol... Thanks for the work... Oh well... I am not looking for help... just making you aware.... thanks for all the work though...

everytime I do it .... it looks like it will work... then check root with rootchecker or susuperuser.... no luck.....

Exactly the same results as the previous guys, every step appears successful, including sideload, but no SU after reboot. My Firmware has WW in name.
Only messages seen during sideload which imply errors are E: can't mount /cache/recovery/log etc etc.
Anyone any idea what may be wrong?
I have my Samsung note 3, and it will never be unlocked. So i was thinking about moving to this. Is the Verizon edition unlocked for custom roms?

It doesn't come unlocked, but you can unlock it. That's why are a lot of us are on this phone. I had an S5 ordered, but decided against it, when I saw there wasn't any progress being made on it. I cancelled my order, bought my M8, and haven't looked back. Give me an unlocked bootloader, or give me death.
You can S-OFF (which unlocks bootloader) & root it immediately after getting it.
I came from a locked Galaxy S4 and have to say this phone is snappier than an iPhone & as unlockable as a door thats compatible with all keys ;D. Love love loveeee this phone and highly recommend it! Go for it!
I unlocked mine the moment I got home with it, no OTA update required as some people have said to do before unlocking it & as far as I've seen no ones had an actual "Oh no! They made it impossible to unlock like Sammysung!" moment.
Ive tried a for the last two days to root my htc m8..but i can not get it to work...tried htc unclock tried setting up adb...but the first gives me an mid error and the second does not recognize my phone...i did install the newest update before i tried to s-off....any help would be great...

I set up adb using the method from root junky. but my computer won't recognize my device. I must have tried it like 50 times, so i tried the htcdev unlock method...my computer recognizes by device but after i copy the token i get the mid 160 error.

What that guy above me said, if you using Windows make sure you right click+shift in the platform tools directly then see if it shows up with adb devices, if not check your drivers.

HTCDEV unlock doesn't work for the Verizon variant. To s-off just follow this step by step guide:

PRO TIPS: Let's say that your adb and fastboot files are located in C:\Program Files\Android. Add this directory to your system path by pressing the Windows key and typing "environment". After a few letters you'll see an option called "Edit the System Environment Variables". Click on this option. The system properties windows will open to the Advanced tab. Click the Environment Variables button. In the System Variables field you'll see a variable called Path. Click on it and choose edit. In the variable value field you'll see a list of paths separated by semi colons. We want to add the path of your adb and fastboot files to the system Path variable so that adb and fastboot commands can be executed anywhere. For the example location I used above you would add the following to the end of the list:
;C:\Program Files\Android
To test, open a command prompt and type "adb". This should launch adb with no parameters. Now you can use adb and fastboot commands anywhere. When you download the firewater script file, you can just leave it in the Downloads directory. If you use Chrome you could click the arrow next to the file and choose "show in folder". Then shift+right click an empty portion of the Downloads directory window and choose "open command window here" (you can also shift+right click on folders icons to accomplish this). Should be easy to s-off now.

Thank you for letting me know about the HTC Dev...I have a mac and set up ADB...it shows my phone off line...i get the message that says allow this computer and check always...i run adb devices and now it just returns blank...i reinstall drivers which is htc sync but the problem persists....

Try 'adb kill-server' then issue 'adb start-server' then try 'adb devices'. If that doesn't work, try a different USB port. If still no joy try a different USB cable. If that doesn't work try restarting the Mac, restarting the phone, spinning around in an office chair three times, and blowing into a Nintendo cartridge. If that doesn't work I don't know what else to suggest besides trying it on a different computer or maybe in Windows. I've never had an issue with ADB so if somebody else has any ideas for Frausbite77 please chime in.
Edit: I googled this Mac ADB guide. I don't know if it really matters, but it says to have ADB/fastboot in the /usr/bin directory. Check it out. There's a script file and when run it installs the Android SDK tools to the appropriate folder. Also check the comments. Somebody else has probably had the same problem as you:

Ok, well so I never got adb to show my device on line....but when i typed ./adb reboot, the device actually responds to the commands...taking a risk i went ahead and pushed the firewater files and the process worked. I was able to unlock my device and install twrp...so i figured out that for and to work i have to type in ./ before i type in any commands...i don't if i messed something up along the way or what...but in the end i have gotten i was able to root and get s off....maybe i got lucky lol...thanks so much for the help!!

That's the proper command line for using Adb on a Mac. It won't work without using ./ before the command.

My bad. I should have mentioned that to execute a file in a Unix-like operating system you need to enter the full or relative path if it's not in your $Path environment variable. That's why you needed to add a './' before the command. The './' indicates that the file is in the current directory. That's probably why that guide recommended putting adb and fastboot in /usr/bin. If you want to fix it so that adb and fastboot commands can be run from anywhere open a terminal, change to the directory where adb and fastboot are located, and issue the following commands:
sudo mv adb /usr/bin
sudo mv fastboot /usr/bin
That will move adb and fastboot into /usr/bin which is in your $Path so you can issue the commands anywhere without using './'. I'm glad you got your M8 s-offed and recovery installed. If you're looking into custom ROMs, I can personally recommend ViperOne as a great stock option and LiquidSmooth as an AOSP option. Try em' out. Now that you have recovery you can just restore a backup if you don't like your current ROM.

Also I believe that ViperOne defaults to power saver mode. You can change this by using the toggle in the notification drawer. If you want to add power saver and extreme power saver to the settings menu follow this guide:

1) Backup all apps and data using LG Backup phone apps
2) Enable USB debugging and Unlock OEM. There are two methods in which you will to accomplish this:
First Method: Smartphone GUI
A) On your Lg Aristo 2 Smartphone go into General Tab (If in Tab View), If in list view, scroll down towards System section
"System Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Click on "Build Number" 10 times.
Now go to "System Settings > About Phone > Developer Options > Enable OEM unlock."
and also "System Settings > About Phone > Developer Options > Enable USB debugging."
Second Method: Windows Command Prompt or Linux Terminal:
Windows:
B) Click and drag "adb" file into command prompt and type "reboot bootloader" after it. Press enter.
Click and drag "fastboot" file into command prompt and type "flashing unlock" after it. Press enter.
Linux:
C)Type in your terminal "adb reboot bootloader" and press enter.
Type in your terminal "fastboot flashing unlock."
NOTE: Below has the information which will teach you how to download ADB and FASTBOOT.
3) Download the following:
Updated - TWRP
Updated - Magisk
(Add this file into your phone's SD Card.)
Updated - boot image
Update: Windows:

4) Open Command Prompt. Then click and drag the adb file (from the latter download link a.k.a platform-tools) into command prompt then press space and type "reboot bootloader" after and then press enter OR power down phone and hold volume down while plugging in USB)
5) Open Command Prompt. Then click and drag the fastboot file (from the latter download link a.k.a platform-tools) into command prompt and then type "flash recovery" after it and then click and drag "newtwrp.img" into command prompt and press enter.)
6) Open Command Prompt. Then click and drag fastboot (from the latter download link a.k.a platform-tools) into command prompt and then type "flash boot" after it and then click and drag "bootimglistedabove.img" into the command prompt after and then press enter) then follow step 7).
Update: Linux:
C) Depending on kernel, for this sake we will use a debian based kernal.
This is how you download ADB and FASTBOOT for Linux: Open terminal and type: "Sudo apt-get install adb && sudo apt-get install fastboot"
4) Open terminal and type: adb reboot bootloader
5) Open terminal and type: fastboot flash recovery (and then click and drag newtwrp.img onto the terminal) and hit enter
6) Open terminal and type: fastboot flash boot (and then click and drag bootfilelistedabove.img onto the terminal) and hit enter
This applies towards both Windows and Linux: continuation after their last listed step written above.
Step 7) Remove battery from phone, in order to force a shut down.
8) Boot into Recovery-TWRP Mode.
How to boot into LG Aristo 2 TWRP Recovery:
a) The phone is off.
b) Hold the volume key and power key at the same time.
c) When the LG logo appears, let go of the power key (while still holding the volume down key) and then click and hold the power key once again.
d)You will be prompted to LG Aristo 2's stock recovery mode asking you if you are sure you would like to delete ur phone.
e) Go to the option "yes" and enter.
f) It will then warn you that can remove all data from your phone.
g) Go to the option "yes" and enter.
You will be in TWRP after this.
TWRP Mode:
9) In TWRP go to "Wipe > Format Data" and then type "yes" and confirm it. (Do not hit reboot, click back a few time and hit reboot > recovery)
10) In TWRP go to "Install > Select Storage" and select your SD Card. Then look for where you placed the "magisk" zip file. Install it.
Your phone is now rooted.
On TWRP menu: Reboot.
Restore your phone if you created an LG backup of your important files (like lets say contacts or applications).

If any mistakes were made and you phone becomes locked, here is how to go into download mode to repair your LG Aristo 2 into its default stock rom. Credit to @tecknight: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76837800&postcount=4
1) Power off phone.
2) connect usb to Lg Aristo 2 phone (without connecting the usb into the PC or laptop)
3) Hold volume up key and then connect USB into computer
4) download LG Bridge
5) detect phone
6) click on "Update Error Recovery"
Your LG Aristo 2 will be repaired and factory resetted.

What root means: In terms of PC language, Root means the superuser that has privileges to Add, Modify, and or Delete any kind of system files without prevention. Pretty much, it's like the actual Administrator account on a PC. Natively, whenever we buy a phone, it is as if to say, we are only using a guest account. Since the android OS is basically a Linux based computer (correct me if i am wrong) we can do anything we like... You want iOS emoji's on an android? A custom boot animation? Having root privileges allows you to go beyond your guest user restrictions because you then become the Admin.
Explaining the function of the provided Magisk app: It allows root privileges for programs intended for rooted phones.

Update: For those who are encountering "Now unlock your phone and confirm operation" when typing the latter code, there is an alternative and much more easier and safer way to backup your phone.
Boot into TWRP and click on "backup" and then select what you would like to back up and then swipe to confirm the operation.

And are you with Metro PCS as well? What apps can a safely delete to get this phone as close to a stock version of android as I can? Can I seriously just wipe out EVERY metro app? Hows your phone functioning?

Until there is a custom recovery built, we won't have custom roms. Dont wipe out every metro app. Anything you arent sure about, look up, or just freeze the app and test results. My phone is fine except SuperSU wont work properly due to the binary being occupied, but this is the best we have so far. I debloated no problem.

Root is the only thing needed, not a custom recovery. Apps like Magisk Manager can flash custom images. The reason there is no ROMs built for this device, I can tell you in my opinion there is no need for a Custom ROM. Magisk Manager has plenty of customizations available as well as many other root apps. Basically, custom recoveries are obsolete, it is not needed for gaining root access nor flashing files. Magisk can do it as well as Flashfire.

Hey man, I would press the Windows Key+R and type" "cmd"
Then, as long as your adb is located at C:\adb type: "cd C:\adb"
Then use adb, I hate how Windows 10 forces it on users!

Okay, after messing around with it a few, I found that once it goes off into fastboot... my computer can't recognize it anymore?

Do I need to unlock the bootloader first? I have it rebooted into fastboot and it's giving me instructions to do that, but won't let me push the boot image. If I do need to unlock it, does it wipe my device?

Yes, that is what OEM unlock means. In doing so you do need to unlock the bootloader.

Yes, when you use "fastboot oem unlock" it unfortunately erases all data. One of our forum members is working on a TWRP at the moment that might be available today. You could wait to do this so you can create a backup.

I'm an idiot, yes LOL. Sorry, just got to work and I am tired you are correct. So, if you would like I suggest just using my tutorial. I believe there is ways of using LG backup to save most of your user data.

What are you typing into ADB to get that error?
Do you have to de-encrypt the phone for root? I am thinking of getting an Aristo2, currently using the MotoE4 (which I hate!), and rooting that requires de-encryption (I love encryption!). This is the MetroPCS version your talking about? Thank you...
