galaxy s2 lte flashing problem no usb - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

first off, first time poster long time reader so hello everyone!
my problem is this. i rooted my cell phone a few months back, my USB jack died a few days ago on my phone and cant be read. i have been charging the battery by putting the positive and negative wires in the prongs of the cellphone battery area.
My replacement from rogers came today and i need to flash it back to stock. i downloaded "mobile odin" to find out my cell isnt supported, what are the other ways i can flash my cell? i have clockwork installed and rom manager. for my rogers stock all i have is a ".tar" file. is this correct or do i need to extract it again or do i just need a whole new file?

You really need Odin to go back to stock completely and it needs a USB for that hmmmmm

i tried using the teriminal method but every time i enter the /sdcard/recovery.img it says the file doesnt exist and i have checked it a few times. maybe my file is wrong?
I727RUXKJ7_I727RRWCKJ7_I727RUXKJ7_HOME
is what i have. inside that is the recovery.img file

As stated before.... you NEED to have the usb functional to use odin. There is no work around really. You're going to have to send it in as is.

[Q] Accidentally Flashed I777 Rom

I accidentally flashed a rom from the SGH-I777 forum. I realize how dumb this is. I just assumed...
Anyways I'm going to try the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348
Has a mistake this dumb ever been recovered from?
Thanks!
Good luck

That would almost certainly end up in a hard brick.
Man, I've been flashing roms on my Atrix for the last 7 months without problems. Had this thing for an hour. Guess I better check model numbers in the future.
It's toast.

Use jig to force phone to go download mode and use Return to stock, fix soft brick, remember to not check repartition or it really going to brick your phone. Hope you still have a chance to recover it.

[URGENT] Phone stuck in constant vibration loop *BRICKED*

I was sending a text message tonight and out of no where the phone's screen turned off and went into a vibration loop. Took out the battery and put back in and as soon as I put in the battery the phone boots up and passes the samsung logo and goes into vibration loop, tried to enter clockwork recovery and it won't work! it gives like a mini CRT-off animation and reboots what do I do? Been running skyics for almost 2 months now no issues. cant enter download mode either wtf!
*edit* I guess I need to order a USB JIG? Not sure tho since I cant enter download mode or CWR.. once I enter download mode when it gives me the warning to "install custom OS" blah blah, and it just reboots itself and then boot loops with vibration.. not sure if my phone qualifies for a soft brick or hard brick.
Which sky ics?
Do you have a device support center near you? I had the same problem running a custom from and brought it there..they couldn't even flash it back to stock because it would boot loop so they just gave me a new one

One before the latest one, UDLD2 or w.e.. so is my phone hard bricked or soft? And I might try to get warranty work done.. I don't understand why this happened tho, doesn't make sense.. not like I dropped the phone a second before it happened

You didn't read the OP post properly. No I can not get into DL mode, it just restarts the phone when it tries to after giving the "custom OS warning"

Maybe you have debris bridging the battery contracts like that other one a while ago. There is a thread called something like, symptoms of a bricked phone.

same thing happened to me. Since they can't load it up to see the warranty is voided, you will just get a new one.

I think it is the reason. I Have been seeing it on both the t989 and here. I think it's the same bug the note has. Wiping with the ics kernel is making bricks everywhere. It's just starting to happen and be documented on the rocket and 989. That's just my guess, taker it or leave it.

That's the same thing that's happening with the note. Some run fine for a long time, some get bricked almost immediately after. I'm not saying this is your case, but it might be. I'm avoiding the ics leak. I ran it fine for longer than a month, but I'm done with it now.

There's at least one sticky in the note forum about it, should be easy to spot. As far as the 989, I have seen a couple threads with similar problems like you. I'm not gonna hunt them down right now, I'm on my phone

same problem except mine wouldnt even go to the boot logo. when i tried to turn it on it would just vibrate. sent it into samsung and they replaced the PCB and it worked fine,

Weird occurrence

This is my first post so bear with me lol. I had previously thought about rooting my Skyrocket and had flashed Cwm recovery. I then decided against it in light of waiting for ICS ota and flashed to stock using k0nane tar file so I could receive OTA's. This did the trick to get rid of Cwm and I was able to update to 2.3.6 without issue when it became available via ota. Yesterday (month + on stock 2.3.6) I used a friends T-Mobile charger and turned my phone off for faster charging. The next thing I know I'm in download mode and even weirder I have a 1 on the flash counter and it says I'm running a custom rom.... why does it say I'm on a custom rom when I flashed stock and why would plugging my phone into a T-Mobile charger into the wall I might add not the computer put me in download mode. It reminds me of a jig, but its the standard USB cable ...
Sent from my soon to be rooted I727
it probably went into download mode because when you plugged in the charger you had the volume buttons pressed also there is a flash counter reset zip for our skyrocket so if you flash it in your recovery the counter should go away

I thought the same thing with the volume buttons and replugged the phone in while on and proceeded to shut down and same thing. Its not a big deal and when I went home I tried my old Atrix charger as well as my current Skyrocket charger and the phone simply went to the battery charging image as it is supposed to. As for resetting the count I saw that earlier today in a post by I believe cdshepard or some variation of that name. That will reset the counter but why does the stock tar show up as a custom rom? No problems to note...just curious. I need cwm and flash the zip from SD correct. (No wipes / formatting necessary?)

yeah all you need is cwm and just flash it no need to wipe and i heard that the stock tar in k0nane's thread was modified in some way when i tried it out it never worked so i just used the one from samfirmware.com
The fact that I took the 2.3.6 OTA without issue and it still said custom rom just made me start thinking. Thanks

[Hard Brick] JTag vs Manuf. Warranty Exchange

I just hard bricked my sgs3. FIRST TIME EVER!! I've been flashing roms, kernels, etc since the MyTouch3.
Little back story.....
I flashed the LSmooth - Linaro 4.2.1 Jelly Bean Rom with CWM6. I noticed that I could not find my nandroid backups. Searched XDA and saw a thread that stated that TWRP is compatible with 4.2.1 and it will move the internal /sdcard from /0 back to its original file location, etc, etc. I went to GooManager, downloaded the twrp.tar (d2vzw), then went to MobileOdin, loaded the .tar file and flashed.
BOOM!!! No power, DOA. dead ass!! :crying::crying:
(( FACE SLAP )) then I remembered via build.prop it was configured as "maguro" and not "d2vzw". So, I'm assuming that since I failed to edit the build.prop before flashing the d2vzw TWRP recovery, it bricked my phone.
-- No power via wall, usb
-- No download / recovery mode
-- NOTHING!
My question is, if I were to call in and ask for a warranty exchange, what is the likely hood of Verizon troubleshooting, reviving my phone and figuring it out that its been rooted?
Or, should I just send my phone to someone that can JTAG it for me?

I don't have an answer for your question but I would like to ask one. Did the build.prop change cause the phone to brick because it made Goo Manager download the wrong file, Mobile ODIN to flash it wrong/to the wrong place, or something else I'm totally missing? This is just a new one to me and I try to stay up on this stuff so I don't end up with a brick myself. Thanks.

Yes goo manager downloads recovery based on your build prop and such that's why it's always bad at the same time to change it if you aren't careful.

Wow!

[MOD] Remove Verizion CD - USB Plugin (Galaxy S6 Varient Only)

If you plug in your Phone into your computer, you will notice you always have to wait for the Verizon CD to time out for 15-20 Secs, befre you can access the Phone Internal SD Card.
Can't say it any other way!!! This is for Galaxy S6 only.. Your Phone crash, have issues, etc. becomes you own issue I have compared files and Iknow they are different becuase of the screen edges..
Thanx to @EMSpilot (Follow to his Orignial Mod), I have brought it to Galaxy S6...
This is only for those that have:
1. Rooted via pin-pong root method.
2. Have Flashfire installed and understand what it can do.
I am not responsible if this borks up your current installed ROM, and you have to Odin backif you make a mistake of itdoesnt work.. Flash at your own risk...
Verizon CD Disabler!!! (Galaxy S6 Only!!!)
Revert back to Enabled Verizon CD Enabler!

Well, I installed it on my Edge and it worked to be honest with you. I'm not spreading wrong information, just telling you that it worked for me. When I plug my phone in the Verizon CD thing does not come up.

Thank you. I actually did odin back to the original last night, not because of this or any issues I was having other than crappy battery life. I have read where some people used odin to flash back to the original and battery life improved so I went ahead and tried it.
Thanks.

This works with the Edge just fine.
Did you create the flashable zip file yourself? I'm just curious as the why there are so many empty folders and a script that removes Google Hangouts.
Also, your restore file has the wrong files in it (you've included /system/framework/arm/settings.odex rather than /system/framework/arm/services.odex)
will this trip KNOX?

Yes that is mine that is setup to do a multitude of things sir. However it should have gotten the right restore files. My apologies will fix that. Doing to much at same times I guess.
All those folder do nothing unless something in them. They hurt nothing... The removal of hangouts. Opps. Forgot to delete script is all.. unless it was remove from main script then it does nothing at all..

I already read all of the posts. A couple people said it worked just fine. I've been using it for 24 hours now with no problems. If you say there might be an issue with doing this then please tell all of us about it. I'll consider myself to be a guinea pig in this situation and I'll report back here if there is an issue but at this point there isn't one and I figure it would've already happened by now if there was going to be one.

I am not gonna even try anymore.
I have decompile both and their are differences dealing with your screen edge programming, may or may not cause an issue.. but too many users take the word of others. There is no recovery for this phone.. so its a bit more...
You guys do what ya want. I am trying to be the good vessel and protect this thing of beauty...
Sorry for telling you like it is from a Dev prespective...

Well it must be a good thing I don't use any of the features of the screen edge. We all appreciate your concern from a developer perspective. I'm just telling you that I'm not afraid to test things whether they are intended to work or not. I've been doing it for 6 years now on Android. I know how to easily recover the phone in the event of a bricked phone. And I also have my methods of getting a brand new phone under warranty in the case that the phone is completely broken. So no worries here mate!
