Yes you can download a "Rom" from ur phone browser just make sure you know where its downloaded, then just reboot into recovery and wipe all and wipe delvec and then flash, just make sure you back up ur current Rom, stock or not.

Your phone has to be rooted and S-OFF (not ENG S-OFF)...first you gotta do that and then you can flash whatever you want.
This is the only way to do that. READ carefully the thread and also the effen manual...

Just depends on the fileserver whether you can download it or not. Some that redirect will give you issues.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend doing a hash check, especially given the occasionally unreliable connection that cellular give for large transfers. I use this one, but I just saw one that's higher rated.

What does that do? Cause I've also have been reading on flashing a new radio for better data speeds but I'm sorta hesitant cause it could brick my phone. The only reason I say this is cause I downloaded the hash checker thing and its says Md5 which o read on another post somewhere on radios

Which Root method did you use to root your phone, and did you have any errors while rooting it ? depending on what method you used to root your phone i would suggest asking a question in the method thread used.

I would suggest you download this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
Its a stock, rooted ROM with the latest updates.
Rename it PD98IMG.zip and put on the root of your SD card.
Pull your battery, then replace it...boot into hboot (vol down + Power)...if you're Radio S-Off, it should flash this image and you'll be stock rooted.
Once you get that flashed and loaded...you should have no problems with ROM Manager or SuperUser.
Just be sure you're Radio S-Off and it will say that at the top of your screen when you enter hboot.
It sounds like to me that you didn't load the upgrade ROM using bubby's one click. In other words...you thought you were complete but not quite.

you can straight download it to the root of your SDcard...but you'll still have to rename it PD98IMG.zip before you can load it through hboot.

not reboot...boot into the bootloader. Remember this won't work if your not S-off.
Boot into hboot...then let it find and load the PD98IMG.zip.
Then it will ask you to upgrade. Volume up to say yes...then let it do its thing.
Easy as pie....

It does this step twice during the process.

There's a sticky at the top of this forum that will answer all that.
Surprise, surprise.
This is what happens when you don't do a little research before trying to do something like this.
All of the advice given to you in those threads went in one ear and out the other.
Seriously, what's your aversion to reading? You're reading these posts answering your questions, right?
I don't mind helping people, with the limited knowledge I've gained here so far, but this is a prime example of why people flame and get pissed at new users.
Now please, go read and try again when you have a basic understanding of your phone.

The help you seek is in the stickied guide in this section. It's in the faq for the root method you used.
It's in the thread of the root method you used, and 500 trillion other posts that you would discover if you searched.
Now you want people to repeat the same answers, yet again, to you, when you were advised to do some preparation before doing this.
I wouldn't be so bothered if I hadn't seen this one coming a mile away.

Totally wrong forum, bro.

how do i fix the volume rocker?

sup ppl i come from the evo 3d forums and just bought this phone today. but the volume rocker is bad, so i have to request.
1) how do i fix the volume rocker.
2) and how can i get it to boot so i find out what hboot the phone has so i can root this bad boy.
thanks in advance
1) what's wrong with the volume rocker? did you buy it second hand? If not why not return it and get it replaced if its broken?
2) to boot into boatloader is volume down plus power button, but hboot versions don't matter on our phone. Its all rootable currently
The down button doesn't work I need to replace it. I've been watching YouTube videos on how to do this. But still need help on what I need to do. I just bought the phone today second hand for 75 bucks

Ace hack kit comes with a manual. Open up the folder and click on the "effen manual" and read it entirely. It tells you everything you need to do to make everything work. Make sure your USB drivers are current. Most people have USB issues that can be fixed by merely updating the drivers. It tells you in the manual how to do that as well.

Follow all the prerequisites and read everything down to the last section called FAQs. There is important information throughout the whole thing which attn1 has made this way so that you see the answer to all the questions people ask over and over. I would be going against the wishes of the dev if I told you any more than this. It really is easy though once you soak in all the info. Good luck. You can do it.

I know you succeeded in rooting your phone, but there is a free app from the market called Quick Boot, which requires root, but allows you to reboot into recovery, bootloader, simply reboot, and power off. It may help you down the road.

No it was that dam code I was using the one on the zip lol I feel mad and dumb at the same time haha. So all I need is a T-Mobile sim card right. Will I have to unroot the phone to set up a T-Mobile account or an at&t account?
Thanks man but does it require the up nd down volume buttons. I'm planning on fixing it maybe next week.

I'm not completely sure if an Att phone will just work on a tmobile network. It would be ideal to activate it on Att or if you already have Att just pop in your sim card. If you are already on tmo, you could pop in your sim in and see if it works. I'm not sure if they need to be unlocked even with custom roms. Does anyone else know the answer to this?
Update: the volume button thing could be an issue if you ever soft brick your phone so you might want to get that fixed asap. It's the only way to fix a softbrick is through hboot.

I use Linux, so I'm not 100% certain about Macs (though it should be similar). But at least in Linux, it asks for your password because the script uses sudo. It's asking for password of the user currently logged in, so as to give the program administrative rights.

There is another method, the HTCDEV method, which is detailed in the PDF in post #7 in the "need help?" link in my signature (admittedly, a little roundabout). However, be warned that AAHK is above and beyond my recommended option. HTCDEV unlock can be detected, making rooting detectable even after you go back to stock (for warranty purposes). AAHK is completely reversible. It also makes the entire flashing process easier and gives you more ROM choice. For more detail, take a look at that link.
If you have absolutely no way to get your password, I would recommend that you try an Ubuntu LiveCD instead of using your Mac. It will let you run AAHK with sudo.

In short, HTCDEV only lets you flash ACE (Desire HD and Inspire 4G) ROMs, but not ROMs ported from other devices. Also, it adds an additional step to flashing any new ROM (you need to run a fastboot command from your computer with your phone connected). AAHK gives you S-OFF, giving you more complete control over your phone and letting you flash any ROM (including ported ones) without that extra step.
Alright got root and JellyTime on my phone. I bought this phone from EBay and havent activated it with AT&T yet. Will having root and a custom ROM prevent me from having it activated?

Sent from a dream.
Hi I just recently got an inspire givin to me. The volume rocker is broken and I have to have fixed next week. I am trying to flash it to ics because Im not a fan of gingerbread on the inspire. They had already updated it to 2.3.5 and sense is 3.0. My question is, how can I root my phone without the volume buttons? I am going to use a touch recovery after its rooted to do all the flashing. If its not to much to ask please help. Thank you

There is no way to do it without the risk of getting stuck. If you get stuck, you will be in troubles to get back to a working state. Fix the volume rocker first and then do the Hacking...
