[Q] FTL Launcher Pro - How to change dock icons - Samsung Infuse 4G

I know this should be obvious, but I can't figure out how to change the dock icons in FTL Launcher Pro. I don't want to change the activity, simply the icons. Shortcuts don't show up on a long press, so creating a custom shortcut doesn't appear to be the solution. Any ideas?

REBOOT then try below...
Basic Instructions:
- On first boot, homescreens will be empty. Long-press anywhere and start adding stuff!
- You can add/change the shortcuts on the dock bar: Long-press the place you want, and wait for the a popup to show, allowing you to choose what activity you want there.
- You can uninstall apps directly from the homescreen: long press the shortcut (even in the app drawer), drag it to the trash can that appears where the dock was. If you drop it immediately FTL will only remove the shortcut, but if you wait a bit before droping, FTL will offer to uninstall the app.

Thanks for the info, I did find those instructions, and they work perfectly for shortcuts on the home screen, but not on the dock for some reason. There's no problem changing a shortcut on the dock to another activity with it's default icon for that activity, just no obvious (at least to me) way to change the default icon or apply a custom shortcut (with desired icon).

you have to long press on the dock the open area where there is no icon to put an icon there..a window will pop open to select an activity...to put an icon...on your dock and if you want to change the current icons, you also long press on the icon til the menu opens with a listing of app to change to,....
that is how I did it....hope it works out for you...

A long press on the dock icon, window pops open to select an activity (let's say phone). No problem there. Now all I want to is change the phone icon, not the activity. Another long press just repeats the above.
Sorry for my denseness, maybe you can't do what I'm trying to do...but thanks for the response.

Is it possible to add a contact to the dock? I usually have my wife as a contact on the dock, when I press the icon it will give me the choice between messaging, calling various numbers, etc. In old Launcher pro I know how to make this happen, I'm having a hard time in FTL Pro.

[Q] How to replace default email app with replacement

Is there a way to make the email icon point to a different email client than the default client? I'm trying out MailDtoid and may want to make the switch permanent.
Thanks!

You can change the home screen buttons by following these steps:
Click the Applications Button
Click Menu Button,
Click View type
Click Customizable Grid, then touch and hold the icon you want to remove and slide it up into the Applications Field and then replace it with what ever icon you want, by touching and holding and pull it into the empty area. I have replace the e-mail icon with K-9 Mail. Hope this helps

So it looks like its TwLauncher specific? As far as I can tell ADWLauncher and ProLauncher don't let you change the icon. Is there a way to change in icon graphic attached to the executable file... using Root Explorer for instance? Something like how it's done in a Gnome desktop in Ubuntu?
Actually, it's a lot easier in launcherpro. You just hold the icon you want to change in the dock until the menu comes up. You can elect to change the shortcut, and then you can decide whether to use a custom icon, default icon, or launcherpro icon.

ADW dock

Whenever you swipe the dock at the bottom, it disappears. Is there a way to turn this feature off?
I always end up dragging an icon off the dock and then accidentally hide it.

This is a feature of ADW. ADW has not only the main dockbar but also can show a "hidden" dockbar. To get acces to it, just swipe at the bottom (as you did). If you don't have any shortcuts in that hidden toolbar it "seems" that only the main toolbar dissapears.
If you don't want to have more shortcuts in this hidden toolbar you just can disable it via ADW settings:
- enter ADW settings
- in there select user interface (I'm not sure if this is the name in english, my menu is German, but its the second one from the top)
- there hit the last one called "hidden dockbar"
- deselect "hidden dockbar"
I also had the problem with deleting accidently Icons from the dockbar. You can prevent this by a great feature in ADW:
- enter ADW settings
- choose "more"
- select lock homescreen.
Now all icons, widgets etc. in the ADW screens are "locked". This means they can not be accidentily moved or deleted neither the screen will react on a long press. Also the main + hidden dockbars are protected from changes / deletions. If you want to change anything, just temporarily disable the homescreen lock.
Hope this helps
P.S.: you can add much more shortcuts to the hidden dockbar than on the main dockbar (max 5 there).
Ah thats why i always miss it because i always thought that section on the settings was referring to the regular bar.
Thanks!

How to change some buttons on homescreen?

Hi guys!
I've got a question about making the homescreen your own.
I'm talking about the call and browser button next to the menu button.
Is there a way to change these two into other buttons?
Cause I use the opera mini browser instead of the usual browser.
Thnx!
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
You should get a pop-up message when pressing the browser button on the Gingerbread homescreen asking which browser to use (if you have more than one installed).

Dude, that wasnt the question
OT: I don't think it's possible, I havent found a way
You can change your homescreen icons, but you need a home screen replacement app.
Something like Go Launcher or ADW Launcher. Both are amazing home screen replacements that let you modify and change your home screen to your liking.
Either of those apps will allow you to change the bottom buttons.
Actually, if i'm not mistaken, even with the stock home screen, you should be able to long press the icons in the bottom bar and drag them off the menu bar. You can replace them with whatever app you want by doing the same - long press and drag into the space for the menu.

Ya bit it doesn't allow you to hide dock like ADW Launcher and ADW Launcher is smooth than Go Launcher.

great app this go launcher but themes are a lil buggy
I'm also trying to find out if that menu/settings bar cab be hidden or disabled. Using gestures I can access the settings, so I don't see that menu bar as being necessary.
Yeah, the settings bar is awful and pointless. It must be able to be removed. I've been using GO for over a year on my DHD but if this is the case I won't be any longer.
As said you can access the settings by swiping up, or from the pull down menu (let alone any other options ie icon on screen/dock, gesture on a dock icon etc).
Bug in GO EX? Or user error?
I think I found a bug. Here's how to repeat:
1. create a navigation shortcut on a home screen.
2. create another navigation shortcut on the home screen.
3. Drag #2 shortcut on to #1. Note a folder has been created.
4. create a third navigation shortcut on the home screen.
5. drag #3 shortcut into the folder you created on step 3.
6. note that instead of 3 shortcuts, you now have 2. (sometimes 1). Creating new shortcuts and putting into the folder deletes previous ones.
This a known thing, or am I Doing It Wrong(tm)?
where to change the grid setting for landscape mode ? pls help
Is it possible to change the default app that opens when pressing the 5 dock items - phone, sms, browser, apps, ?
say for browser can i set it so that Opera opens when I open it ?
Another thing, in normal HTC sense, when I went into App drawer, and pressed the setting key, I would have the option to select "Remove app" and in that I can select the "Running" tab and see what services and processes are running.
This running tab seems different from the running tab that is shown when i go to the app drawer using Go Launcher - is it possible to use the Sense "running" tab or set the Go Launcher running tab to show just like the Sense one ?
thanks
Tablet dock scrolling?
I'm running the HD version on my Transformer Infinity with the CROMi-X 4.5 rom. Does the dock scroll so that I can add more items?

i think Nova launcher is the best because it's very simple, smooth and stable. it doesn't make the desktop cluttered with lots of unnecessary information.

I have just switched over to Go launcher from ADW launcher. I would like to know how do I sort the apps in a folder alphabetically? I cant seem to locate the settings anywhere. Please help...

If you want to change Touchwiz dock icons

If you need to add an icon to touchwiz dock bar, just press home to go to apps, find the shortcut you want, press menu button, edit, and drag the shortcut to the dock bar. You can only change 2 or 3 of the icons.
Please thank if you find this useful.
