[Q] Who is developing for V21Y - T-Mobile LG G2x

I just thought I would ask if anyone knows of developers updating to the new baseband so all of us users can gauge when to do the upgrade. I know that "you'll get your new ROMs when you get therm." is the standard XDA response, but I just wanted to gauge the development.

Hard to say. Seems like ICS is the thing now. I'm sure they are though.
If I'm bored today I was thinking about looking to try to put the extra reboot options in power menu lol .

The only changes I'm particularly interested in are to get a battery icon that shows the numerical percentage and to get rid of the "fully charged" popup, both of which were in lotherius' Tsugi, based on an earlier leaked version of this ROM. Otherwise, I'm happy with it in its current state.

Tsugi was based off p95g that's why ums was buggy. Just because something is the same android version does not mean they are alike.
I've managed to port most of the tweaks options and the toggles from weapon. After I get that 100% I'll add some lock screens and such.

Yup they're already done. I think I'm gonna throw an all new theme over the ROM just to have something different.
Other features I'm thinking about adding are crt animations, swype to remove notifications, and a few others here and there. I'm not going to add extended power menu because toggles already handle all that. These other features and new lock screens will probably come as updates since I'm trying to get something stable to use first. And lock screens are a major pain in the ass.

Sounds amazing. Add those and I don't think people will complain about custom ROMs, I won't anyway .
I always used the quick toggles to reboot the device so I agree with the extended power menu being pointless.

I updated to V21Y Android 2.3.4 directly from Weapon and miss Weapon's features. I am looking forward to fully Weaponized V21Y Android 2.3.4. Lock and load!

Lack of Roms

Is it just me, after i inherit this sidekick from a coworker as a co phone, i notice there is not many choices on Cook Roms. Coming from a vibrant, there nothing to use. Stuff that is months old is still not updated. Just wondering is there every going to be a GB rom.. like 2.3.x versions anytime soon?
This has been brought up many times but the main issue is really we lack a dev capable of hand writing drivers for a gingerbread kernal. And making drivers i can imagine is no easy task like the devs at cyanogen making Bluetooth drivers for the nook color when the device had no source code or existing code to go off of to enable blue tooth. Eventually samsung/tmobile will release a gingerbread rom for our phone but atm we have only froyo based roms to go off of an you can only do so much with froyo though ayoteddy did add a neat feature to glorious overdose that allowed swiping across the status bar to adjust screen brightness.

[Q] Swipe-able Notifications

I asked about this a while ago and I think Raver said he was putting it in a new rom. Is it possible to pull this tweak from CM7 and incorporate it in the current stock of roms?
I think you'll have to compare frameworks of AOSP ICS/ CM7(it was ported from ICS in CM) with KJ6.
I have this almost done in scom v4.4.4 update and I believe lewa os has it

What do you mean swipeable notifications? You mean the setting in ADW that allows you swipe on home screen to pull the notification bar down?

No in CM7 you can swipe each notification in the notification shade individually.
erikmm is this something easy to port over? I have tried your rom many times and get stuck at the milocker screen on initial boot. This was both versions, so if it is something easily portable maybe FB will add it to his rom.
Raver didn't get it done, so I doubt it's easy.

Back to my question, of all the things from CM7 I miss is swipeable notification. Its nice to clear one without having to open it yet leave others there for the reminders.
Ran across this thread today.

Customizing Rooted Stock v21y 2.3.4

Since there are not any custom roms available for the new baseband, I thought it might be worthwhile to have a thread on customizing kwes1020's Rooted Stock Rom. I went for an ICS look on mine using available themes and apps. By the way, I have found this ROM to be quite stable with good battery life.
Themes/Customizations available on XDA:
[Theme]Touch of ICS for Stock 2.3.4
v21y 2.3.4 Arc'd Theme+QuickPanel MOD (Have not tried this one yet)
ICS "Style" Settings for 2.3.4 (Have not tried this one yet)
Market Apps:
ADWLauncher EX
Ice Cream Sandwich (theme)
Notification Toggle (Good alternative for Weapon G2x like toggles)
/system/app mover (Moves Notification Toggle into system folder)
Roboto Font Customization:
Download Roboto Font Family
Roboto replacement for Clockopia (lockscreen clock) (Prevents alignment problems)
There are many ways to install, I used TypeFresh with AndExplorer.
Remove Bloat:
NoBloat Free
Bookmarks Manager
Add:
Thanks for adding this thread.
Go Launcher Ex Really an excellent launcher replacement.
Rom Toolbox Pro: Gives you access to adding Roboto fonts and installing custom startup animations.
and
Go Locker: a really nice lockscreen add-on that you can customize.
Nice thread... I wish I knew how to mess with code to release a modded ROM... it does seem as though our only hope of one is gone now.

The only thing I can think is that attempts to adjust just the kernel to match the new baseband have been unsuccesful. Two things that might yet work:
1. Any way to move the phone code from this ROM to a flashable zip(less likely) or
2. The source code is out there. Can we build CM 7.2 on top of this base? I wish I knew more about this...

Thanks for the all in one thread. I just flashed back to 21e like 5 min ago...oh well. Battery life was horrible with 21y for me. i am more than happy to help out with any questions here. i I do have one question. Why is it that when i did a task in TiB ,like un-installing, or just on random on the main home screen, i would have to press the return/back soft key? I was using ADW. didnt seem to be an issue with the stock launcher. did i miss something?

What would you like to see in a new rom

I have sort of started working on my first real rom and was curious what yo all would like to see. I am thinking that I will base a lot of it off of some of our current stuff like Lithium, SCv5/6 when it comes out, and sonya. (with developer permission of course.) I really like the white on black theme in Lithium. I will also debloat, and remove Motorola stuff. I will probably remove a lot of the stock apps like messaging and browser and replace them with aosp or other equivalents.
What else would you guys like to see, especially if it is not really in any of our current roms. Please don't post something that is only relevant to you, make sure it is something that would be a benefit to others too. (I will consider languages, as long as more than like, 2 people actually speak it. I have seen demand for italian and russian.)
thanks for your input on this.
P.S. also taking ideas for names from those creative people among us.
Well, since you're asking... and this may be beyond the realm of the state of current affairs; I'd LOVE to see a theme changer in a ROM. That way the basics could be laid and the user would have the ability to do what we all love to do with Android. Customize!
The End.

good idea, i'll see what I can do, but not sure if its even possible.
I'm waiting on a stock ics to leak. I've ran cm7 on multiple devices and cm9 on my infuse and I'm burnt out on the cm and aosp side of things. Stock ics is where i am at. Just giving my 2 cents.

I wud love to see white on black background like in s2 and note. And some fonts supported. +d ability to screenshot (which is needed d most)

Different style lockscreens would be nice and I'm a +1 on the XDA app already being installed too!
Toggle dropdown, 1% batt
Scrolling in Settings and in listview is smoother, like Samsung SII's ROM
Current stock theme is the best, no need to modify, or stock ICS theme is ok
in my ideal ROM, there would be Beats Audio and Sony Bravia Engine mods, working Accounts app, extreme speed tweaks, and a cool boot animation

maybe, I have an uninstaller zip and you can always get the installer from the main thread here on xda, its not device specific. So really all you have to do is flash those to turn it on and off.
+1 for KEB64's built in theme engine suggestion, maybe something like CM7's TMO theme engine.
No CWM backup. ICS or widgetlocker type lockscreen. ROM name=Creatrix
A rom with FLAC support alongside volume rocker buttons when long pressed to change tracks besides volume up/down when playing music.

What Do YOU Want In a Rom?

I am thinking of creating a custom Rom for the Verizon Galaxy S III. I am planning of basing it on AOSP, and I know what features I want out of the Rom. I'm posting here so that you can reply with what YOU would want in a Rom so that I can develop it for you

I was thinking of including most of the AOKP customization options. Are you saying that you want the notification ringtones from touchwiz?
Include codename android features and you'll be loved lol
Jellywiz, plus aokp settings, plus "kinda crap mods" during install, minus as many apps as possible, choice of radio, choice of kernel during install...
Hmm what else, lol
Of course up to date android version, oh and the mms app from aosp with the quick reply in the drop down status would be nice.
I'm sure i could keep going, but you asked

Thanks for your feedback! This will be a jelly bean rom... However, I am planning on making this rom more of a "stock" android rom. I am leaving out touchwiz because in my opinion it makes many things slower and it just feels clunky to me. I will be trying to incorporate features from CyanogenMod, AOKP, CodenameAndroid, and maybe even a few from ParanoidAndroid. Kinda Crap's mods are intended for touchwiz based roms, so I will most likely leave those out, however I may try to include Pimp my Rom's features. When it come's to choice of Kernel, instead of making it a choice during install, I might just post links to the kernel's on the Rom's thread and give detailed instructions on how to flash each one (as well as the optimum setting in my opinion).
