wow! this + Juopunutbear = pwned!
I hope it works for the mt4gs, I am s-off so I can't test.

Anyone can confirm, I've written guides on turning both S-ON from S-OFF and how to relock the bootloader.

I used a paper clip wrapped in electrical tape....

You can use anything that conducts electricity... The little twist ties from bread should do it... Just srape off the covering at either end of it.. (or use a paper clip) whatever you can find

Well, I did Juopunut the bad ass way. Stripped an Ethernet cable, took out one of the small wires and made it the appropriate length and then stripped the ends. Voila! Perfect insulated wire for the job.

How to debrand Inspire? (Physically remove AT&T logo from the back of the phone)

Has anyone successfully done this? If so, how did you do it? I'm speaking of the back of the Inspire, the carrier logo, and how to actually remove it.
I've heard that Atrix users were successful in using a U.S. penny to scratch it off with no marks. How would we accomplish this on the Inspire?

If this is something that's important for you, perhaps you might try some light solvent (IF the metal body is in fact not painted, which it doesn't appear to be).
The logo is silk-screened on with some kind of ink/paint, it's not etched, so it would probably come off with a little help.
If I wanted to do it, I'd try rubbing alcohol and a qtip first. Might take awhile longer than trying to scrape it off, but it would be the least risky way.
Running metal against metal has an abrasive effect, whether these penny-rubbing people can perceive it or not. Just a fact.

I have tried 100% ethanol and 100% acetone with no luck, you will just end up cleaning your phone. You will need some sort of gentle abrasive to get it off. I might even suggest Brasso as it is a solvent and mild abrasive in one, but don't blame me if you mess up your finish.
I was going to recommend the same thing.
An old trick with the HTC Tytn and TytnII (Kaiser/Tilt) was to use a sugar cube.
The sugar was tougher than the paint but softer than the metal so it did not scratch.
Might be worth a shot.
**EDIT**
Just found an old thread on it!

So is the XTC Clip reversible?

Sorry to ask a question that I thought that I knew the answer to but is the XTC clip S-OFF reversible, the post below has confused me:

as this obviously has significant implications towards being able to ensure that we can keep our warranty valid.

So far as I can tell, no its not
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
I think it isn't. Even if it is, we need someone to test it, but i'm pretty sure no one will. Who want's to revert back to stock? You'd have to do the WHOLE procedure again. S-Off is the toughest part, no one would want to go back (except for warranty purposes)
Someone who owns the unlimited version of XTC Clip, can try these commands and confirm if it works, He can then S-OFF again using the clip.

[Q] Laser engraving Backcover

Hello guys,
Since i'm kinda into customizing my electronics and the fact that I just bought a HTC Sensation i thought let's post this here and perhaps you guys can help me with this.
I would love to laser engrave my sensations back cover but i have no creativity and once it's done it can't be undone. Can you guys help me out with some nice and creative ideas on what i might be able to do to it?
Since I have a laser engraver / cutter I do not require any tips about where to go etc. to have it done.
Also if you have any ideas for your own device i'd more then happy to talk to you about customizing your device
Thanks!
Attached some eye candy (everyone loves that right?)

Oh no doubt that I'll be doing that. Then again screwing up the back up cover with a not so awesome design would still kinda suck ^^
So i'm still open to suggestions, perhaps there are some really awesome graphics designers here.

Could you explain how you did it? Did you have to take that part out of the back cover? What did you use to "chrome" it?

Yes, I already read that on his blog few weeks ago. The only thing I need now is a spare battery cover because I'll probably screw up (when taking the plastic off, brushing isn't a problem) I'll try to get one but it looks like HTC wants you to send your old one back (I have some issues with this one, I'm not trying to get it only to have a spare)

you don't need to take the cover apart. all you need is masking tape and paint thinner/remover. mask the cover well as if you were about to paint a car. be careful and meticulous with the taping. then apply the paint thinner/remover and remove the paint accordingly. remember, any of these things takes PATIENCE to get a good effect.
honestly i highly recommend you take it apart for the reason u want to get all nooks and crannies. all u need is some good glue to put them back together

one x motherboard swap

I have a Rogers htc one x that is ICJ bricked, and a line on a working, rooted Rogers one x that just has a shattered digitizer for $135. I'm planning on swapping the motherboard. I'm not worried about the physical swap, I've already disassembled the phone and I'm totally comfortable with that.
my only question is if there will be issues with hardware that I'm unaware of. my impression is that the motherboard has all the components with IDs on it like imei etc. and all the other components are totally swappable. so in essence, putting this other motherboard into my phone is more like transferring all my parts around his phone.
like saying "a brain transplant will never be possible, but perhaps a full body transplant one day."
but I digress...
is there anything I'm not considering?

It turned out quite well! I needed to unlock the Frankensteined phone, note that the imei needs to match the motherboard. Also, I needed to have a stock based (i.e. sense based) Rom installed for the unlock to work.
Other than that, the phone isn't too tough to disassemble (find a video, if you need help, let me know), although when I pulled one of the phones apart, it pulled the button portion of the power button off. I needed to swap the power button assembly with the other phone.
So as it stands, I have a perfect condition one xl, and one bricked xl with a shattered digitizer ($25 part) and no power button ($15 part). Still trying to figure out what to do with it...right now I'm just waiting to see if it can be unbricked. If so, I can fix it and sell it, or just let my wife have it.

Nope, Ill tell you what happened. I have been having problems with the evolution mods kernel rebooting my phone, after i tried the "fixed" version.
So i flashed the full firmware from the 1.55.602 update (im running a stock rom with bloating removed) and i removed the hboot from the zip. Since im running a custom hboot with the text removed. Thinking i could just reflash the stock kernel.
i flashed it, did a fastboot reboot and now its deader than a hammer.
no charge, no usb activity, no turn on. dead as can be. Ill take any and all suggestions. I know my way around pretty well, so im surprised that its bricked. But its the first M8 brick, unless someone has a clever idea?

My condolences on the device, but you sir should be applauded for not going the route of "warranty" on a device that died by your hand. Does seem odd that you can't even get it to charge though.

So i had edged up from my M7, ended up selling that for 400. Got the M8, had 2 payments made, bricked it. So i had to pay off the 500 on the edge. Now whats interesting if you early payoff the edge, you are out of contract, COMPLETELY. So i ended up with a free standard upgrade, so i was able to edge again. thats a FYI if anyone is interested. Kinda sucks, but i made my money back already fixing computers this week. Any idea what i did wrong, i have flashed M7 & M8's & DNA's so many times....I know my way around. Im still baffled
