I'm looking at getting some screen protectors for my Desire Z and wondered where/what people would recommend getting, are some better than others or are they all much the same?
They are all pretty much the same, however if you try to get them too cheap you may end up with a faulty batch that don't stick to your screen.
Look at any well known phone website to buy some, they are not expensive and usually come in packs of 6.
I recommend the Skinomi ones. It doesn't change the feel of the touchscreen like some others and is good with fingerprints and glare. When installed, you can't even tell you have a protector on. About $10 on Amazon.
Brando ultraclear.
http://shop.brando.com/bw-ultraclear-pda-s-p-htc-desire-z-_p5027c18d8.html
10 $ no shipment untill 31 dec
The best for me, used them on all my previous phones...
Solid, doesn't change the feel of the screen, and barely noticeble when installed correctly.
Shipment from Hongkong to Belgium takes 5 working days
They are not all the same, IMO. The cheap ones will show fingerprints like crazy, and get scratched easier, so they don't last very long. This was the case with the cheapo screen protector that AT&T included with my trusty old Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2. It looked like crap after a month or two, and had to be replaced. Based on some recommendations by users on XDA, I bought some high quality ones from Boxwave (got the "Crystal" version, some mentioned the "Anti-Glare" was grainy feeling). Much more resistant to fingerprints/smudges. Have had the same one on that phone for 7-8 months and it still looks pretty good.
I liked the Boxwave protectors so much, that I ordered them for my new Desire Z. They are a little pricey at $13 each, or $28 for 3. I'm sure you can find comparable quality for somewhat less. But for me, I'd rather stick with a product I know is quality; rather than experiment with something new on something that may/may not be as good, just to save a few bucks. And the super cheap ones (the ones that cost a few dollars a piece) aren't even worth your time, in my opinion.
Zagg and Bodyguardz also seem very popular, highly praised by users here. But they are also on the expensive end.
I would go with the Skinomi screen protector..amazing quality and durable, they come with lifetime replacement warranty, just ordered mine and I got 25% off with coupon code get25 from their website..they come highly recommend by a lot of xda users

had them on all of my devices of the last few years
I'm using Martin Fields screen protectors for the Desire Z.
I've used them for all my other devices and I have no complaints. It even comes with a little protector for the camera lens too.
I recommend Skinomi too. The package they ship to you is very high quality, comes with a squirt bottle and a squeegee to push away the bubbles. The skin looks like the type that Zagg/BSE ships you, but the feel is so much better. It doesn't have that stickiness that Zagg products tend to have.
It's also very resilient to scratches; I've had it for 2-3 weeks and there are no scratches whatsoever on the screen, unlike the Clarivue antiglare I had for my N1.
Does anyone know if bell sells screen protectors for the desire z?

Does anyone know how important having screen protection is? I had a screen protector on my MotoMilestone forever, scratches all over it, looked like crap. pulled it off and decided not to use one, and didn't get any scratches after that. Are these screens not like a "gorilla glass" type screen?
http://www.stealthguards.com/index.php/t-mobile-g2-full-body-protection.html
They have self-healing technology so they won't get scratched up and ugly.
Best of all, they're free.
Mines been sticking like no other, no bubbles.
Just gotta make sure no bubbles are underneath when you lay it down.
If anyone wants, they can use this coupon (10% off) for realook screen protectors. I have them and they are incredible scratch resistant, feel great and look invisible.
Here's the code but it expires on 12/31

The cheap screen protectors scratch really easily and look like garbage in no time, for sure. But get a good quality ones are very scratch resistant. I have had the same Boxwave protector on my old Tilt2 since May of this year (just upgraded to the Desire Z), and it still looks really good, just some light scratches.
I had the same thought as you with my old Kaiser/Tilt. The cheap screen protector that came with it got all scratched up, and I decided to go bareback. It seemed just fine for a while. But as the months wore on, I noticed faint scratches slowly building up. And one hasty travel day, I accidentally (and stupidly) threw my keys in the same pocket as the phone, and got a big gouge on the screen. Of course, a lot of this will depend on how you treat your phone, use a case, etc. But it just takes a one time mistake to get a bad scratch on the screen.
I don't think the Vision/G2/Desire Z uses Gorilla Glass. In any case, I just read on these forums that Gorilla Glass is very hard to break, but not really all that hard to scratch. There are reports by Samsung Galaxy S owners which have easily scratched the Gorilla Glass on their displays. If you do a search on these forums, you will find conflicting statements about whether the Desire Z display is scratch resistant or not. Couldn't really answer your question about how hard/easy it is to scratch the screen on the Desire Z. But I don't intend to find out the hard way.
There's a big thread about screen protectors at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=800638 , which was originally on the G2 side of things.
I ended up buying screen protector from tmo and its actually great and is unnoticable

So i have the two pack from Tmobile that they sold me comes with anti-smudge ones, but they are getting scratched up rather quick, are there any more scratch resistant protectors or @ 2/$15 are these good?
I use Invisable Shield by Zagg and its sweet, touch works the same after its on, i think it helps glare from the sun but maybe thats just me. But make sure you read the instructions, make sure its placed just right the first time, if you take it off and try to place it again after it sets the first time its gonna be super hard to place it just right again, good luck on that one... but overall i think its an awesome protector, it has a lifetime guarantee too!
I'm currently using the Skinomi screen protector, and it works perfectly. No finger drag when using the screen, and they have a lifetime warranty. To test this, I emailed them and said that my screen protector already have a huge noticeable scratch on it, and they just asked for my shipping information and sent me a completely new package! Wonderful customer service, I recommend it.

Yep, rockin the Skinomi as well. It's excellent.
There are so many available! I like Zagg, but I hate that they charge $5 for a replacement, and they peel mad fast!
I use best skins ever and would never use anything else. They don't peel easy, don't charge a lot for shipping, are pretty cheap, and pretty scratch resistant. Kept my Nexus One in perfect condition from day one.
I have Zaggs Invisible shield on my Z. Very durable(it will most likely outlast the phone itself). Maby a little pricey if you compare it to the cheap ones, but in the other hand the phone is quite expensive too. Fitting the is easy as long as you follow the insructions.
I have a Zagg one on my Z like some others here. I had one on my G1 from day 1 as well, and it is still on it and scratch free. The varnish is peeling off all over the rest of the phone, but the screen is perfect. It is a shame they charge so much, but it is worth the money. I had the peeling problem with the body of my G1, but the screen stayed on just fine, so I just bought the screen protector for the Z.
I used Zagg in the past on many different devices and it is a great product. Protection is top notch but for touch screen devices, the protector is a little thick for my tastes. Don't like the way my finger 'drags' on the screen with the ZAGG.
Currently have the Skinomi on my DZ. Works excellent. Same amount of protection, a little thinner and the touch feel is great. Can't even tell that there is a protector on the screen. Lifetime warranty, haven't had to use it yet. After 3+ months still looks the same as the day I installed it. Highly recommend.
I started with a Zagg full body... hated the way it felt on the screen.
Replaced it with a Skinomi, it feels great but it's got pretty scratched up in the month and a bit I've had it installed.
I have a Clairvue sitting around here which I'll stick on once the Skinomi scratches start to annoy me... will report back then.

+1 Zagg
I started using their Invisible Shields on my G1 and it still looks great. I've gotten a few replacements and haven't had any issues with the warranty.
One issue (and this probably happens with all full body covers) is that the rounded corners eventually lift up a little and collect lint. It's not too bad with the G2, but the G1 had some pretty tough corners to cover.
I have to agree with guys and +1 for Zagg. I bought one of these the same day I purchased my Desire Z:
The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your HTC Desire Z creating a full-screen cover providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find on planet earth. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the U.S. military, where it was used to protect the leading edge of high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris. Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your Device. Our exclusive, patented nano-memory technology film covers and shields your device, always keeping it as pristine and shiny as the day you took it out of the box.
The invisibleSHIELD is only .2 millimeters thick making it the slimmest skin or cover of its kind. It is so tough that we back it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, ZAGG will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.

This shield is amazing and I have never had any problems. I had the professionals at the store install the shield as well, so they guaranteed that their installation would produce zero bubbles or they would replace it. As a Canadian I went to Future Shop and it was great and I couldn't be happier with any other 'case'.
I found that if you're careful for 24 hours following your case installation, you shouldn't have any problem getting the case to stick around the corners. Also as long as you're nice to your phone you shouldn't have the corners lift up.
Clarivue!!!!! or StealthGuard. Zagg products are overpriced in my opinion.
I got a stealthguard for shipping (first class mail, 3 days or so), have had it for about a month.
Application was good after watching the videos involving a drop of soap.
Hasn't come up at the edges, no scratches. It does seem to do a little bit of "self healing" for dings.
I am only using the screen protector, didn't use the other parts of the cover.

I bought the PRIVACY SCREEN PROTECTOR from t-mobile. When I received it, it was too big for the g2. So I had to cut it down to size. Touch response with the screen has to be pressed harder.
But the privacy part of the screen is perfect..

I thought Zagg was where it's at....and they are ok but Ghost Armor is king now. I got 2 full body sets for 24.99 and it looks absolutely great. Doesn't have the orange peel feel like the Zagg and is wayyyy easier to install. They are smart and tell you to get some water and put some soap in it and submerge the shield in it before putting it on the phone. This is where Zagg only sends you spray. Your results are that the Ghost Armor goes on so much easier, slides perfectly into place, and has no bubbles at all. The results with the Zagg are kinda different. You could do the same thing with the Zagg (soap water), but of course they don't tell you that, so you end of trying to use as little spray as possible. This results in you having a harder time putting the shield on. So all in all, they are very similar, but I like the Ghost Armor better because its cheaper, easier to install, looks great and has the best method of putting on your shield.

I'm currently using the Skinomi screen protector, had it for about a week now. I had the T-Mobile one and the clarity is much better with the Skinomi one. No issues yet.... The best thing was it was only about 3.50 shipped from Amazon.
Last time I bothered with a screen protector was when the storm 1 came out on verizon. I ordered it from seidioonline.com and it was easy to put on and lasted a long time.
I did get screen protectors for another phone that verizon sold...I went thru all 3 of them in the pack just trying to put the stupid things on. Waste of money right there.
I have not used a screen protector since. And never found the need to have one in over 3 years. So I say don't waste the money

Hi,
someone konw a very good sreen protector? I only have a very simple one.
I use the official HTC screen protector: HTC Desire HD Screen Protector SP P430
http://i.expansys.com/i/b/b203639.jpg
Probably not is the best one, but for me it serves.
Until now it is fine!
Case Mate worked really well for me, easy on easy off
Best Screen Protector I have EVER used I bought from Phantom Skinz
(link -http://phantomskinz.com/)
and its amazing and tough as hell and very easy to fit.
Ive also just got 1 from Zagg, which is very nice too
Dont buy those crappy skin protectors on ebay, most are fakes and the rest are rubbish, with only about 3/10 real or of any use
HiT The THaNKS if I HeLPeD
Don't get yourself those cheap screen protector..
for those cheap anti glare sp, you'll have rainbow effect which will distort the vividness of your screen.. i tried these sp before and i recommend: Capdase Imag, iDEFENSE, and the well known Steinheil Ultra Fine series.. go and get any of these brands and you won't regret it..
i have the official htc screen protectors, as with any screen protectors they can be a bit fiddly to get on properly first time so i ordered a couple of packs of them. Once i managed to get one on without any air bubbles, it's stayed on perfectly and you barely notice it's there. i've had it on for 4 months and it's showing no signs of wear like some of the cheap ebay ones do )
If you are willing to spend the money, the Martin Fields ones are very, very good. You don't notice they are there, and they are nice and smooth, like the glass on the screen. Just nake sure you put them on the right way, like all of the full front screen protectors for this phone.

Ive got the official HTC screen protector on mine, its been on for nearly 5 months now and still in great condition
Another vote for the official HTC screen protector. Its not the cheapest and its a bit of a pig to fit perfectly but its really good and extremely hard to notice.
I have Brando Ultra Clear and it's great. You won't recognize there is a screen protector.

+1, I bought one the other day from overlayplus.com. It arrived extremely quickly and while it did take some work to make sure no dust got in-between the screen and the protector once it was applied it fitted seamlessly to the point where I can't even tell it's there. So yeah, worth every penny.
I use really cheap ones from ebay and it's fine. I replace the it aboot every 12 weeks but for 18p each, who cares?
I apply with a spray of lightly soaped water and never getting get any air bubbles.

Personally would suggest a look into the sedio ultimate screen protector, not the easiest to put on though. I wrote a review which should be on the first page of this forum if you wish to check it out.
Hi,
i bought the Vikuiti™ Displayschutzfolie ADQC27, not cheap but very good, and there was a special Offer at the Time, buy 2 get 3.

Yeah I would agree the official HTC screen protector is the best.
For first aid, Brando shop screen protector also does the trick. Not as good as official, but I liked it better than Invisible shield.
Easy to put on, washable, ok protection level.
Am I able to get a Phantom Skin shipped to Australia?
They seem to be high quality and reusable. I want!
Screen Protectors
I bought Zagg's invisible shield. You only get one and it is like installing car tint but it is pretty damn good and lifetime replacement. its about 19.99 to 20 or somewhere like that. worth it though.
after reading this topic i will also buy htc protector.
did someone heard about anti reflex screen protectors?
i heard after using this the sharpness get bad.
is that really soo bad??
sun light you cant see anything on the screen.
I use the HTC Screen Protectors too.
But bought them because of the review of some other users.
I cant say they were wrong The shield fits perfect, has no overlapping edges, is nearly invisible especially with a bodykit/protector.
One thing ... that infers ...sunlight!
Under the sky you cant really see anything if you are not in a dark shadow of something.
So ... anyone made experience with matt/faint/milky protectors?
I heard be someone else, that under the sky the view of the screen is much better.
Has anyone try this bulletproofguard screen protecter?I have got It today and it super smooth. took off my zagg shield it works but not as smooth as bulletproofguard and for the price you can't go wrong compare to zagg shield price it a no brainer .got it for $1.75 for 6 screen call me cheap but this work really great compare to zagg shield, zagg get 5/10 bulletproofguard 9/10

I don't understand the screen protectors, it's like impossible to scratch this screen. I never had a protector and my screen is still 100% scratch free after like 9 month of abuse.

its a mental thing, atleast for me it is. when i purchased my inspire it came with the zagg shield on and i had a sense of relief. then i removed the zagg and used a cheap protector. which is turn felt a lot better to the touch. now i have the otter box and the built in protector for the case has a hair scratch or two on it, but whatever i got the otter box for free so i dont mind the case. plus i dont want anything to break if i drop the phone.
on the other hand i have a kindle fire that also has the gorilla glass too and i have never had a screen protector on that this at all and i must say im impressed by it. but i dont carry it around everywhere like my phone so im not afraid of dropping it. but damn there is no scratch on it anywhere.
if you watch the videos on youtube some pople claim it CAN be scratched but just not near as easy or often as normal, plus tons of videos of people stabbing their device and dropping it is kinda fun to watch
I've been using the Zagg shields on my phones for a couple of years now with good results. Only issue is that dirt will eventually build up under the shield after a year of use, and the install is a PITA. Of course is that really an issue? How long do most of us use a phone before we switch for the latest and greatest?
i have a small scratch on my screen, no idea from what. (shrugs) people will buy broken phones for good money on ebay so im not too worried lol
I have the Zagg Shield and so far its being pretty good. The install can be a pain though.

Coming from Mobile at Best Buy, if you use the install liquid, and all of it, it's easy to install. I've got the anti-glare invisheild and love it. Smooth feeling, no glare or smudges only down side is it's a bit pixelated due to the anti-glare technology. I think that should be soon fixed because they have fixed it on the iPhone ones.
I had a zagg shield on my iPhone and have one currently on my inspire. They're not quite as smooth as regular plastic screen protectors, but they scratch much less and are easier to put on without imperfections. If you want to try one for cheap, head to radio shack. I just picked up a clearances zagg for the Droid bionic. Two quick snips with a pair of scissorsand it covered my screen completely for only 50 cents

duh,Zagg is where its at
Hey I have been using the Zagg ones ... the first was a beast to put on but the secret is in the slick-um. IF you don't have nuff slick-um it will turn out all wrong...
ALSO,
make sure to check the box... my last box was light, sum dumass clepto did a snatch & grab...
hehe, heh
I recently purchased some of the BulletProof protectors from ebay as well. I scratched mine putting them on. Not sure if they are as "BulletProof" as advertised if you know what i mean. I do like how they are slick like glass instead of sticky like soft plastic. My phone had something similar to a Zagg on it when I bought it and i was not happy with the feel. Too bad you cant buy a thin sheet of gorilla glass and bond it on top of what is already there. Then if it does scratch the top sheet would be replaceable.
Gorilla glass all the way!
Ive had the phone for about a year now... NO scratches, period. My phone is always in my pocket, occasionally with keys, coins, or other items. I work in garden retain, so i often have sand, dirt, gravel, etc. find its way into my pocket.
Again, not a scratch
No protectors for me!

I've been using the Zagg shields on my phones for a couple of years now with good results. right now I'm using the smudge free version on my inspire and I just love it.
I bought a zagg shield when I got my Inspire, it served its purpose (rather it needed to or not with the gorilla glass). But it eventually collected so much dirt+dust I decided to take it off. I never seen such a beautiful display before on my phone! It was clearer, and the colors were more vibrant. I've been screen protector free for about 3 months now without any issues! (Knocks on wood!)
I suppose I'll let you guys know what I've been using.
I've had an xtreme guard screen protector on my phone since april 2011. By now it is due for replacement. The screen has "stretch marks" lol, they aren't bubbles or wrinkles...
I do have to say for 3 bucks I couldn't be happier. It is applied with some soapy water, which was great and allows for repositioning. It does seem fairly thick and makes me think it would actually help if I were to drop it onto pavement or something. The best part is that it is very slippery. It makes scrolling much easier than a bare screen.
I've heard they can be removed and replaced to fix any imperfections, even after extended periods, but for 3 bucks I just ordered a new one.
I give it two thumbs up!
In general they're all the same, clear TPU is what the screen protector is made of, I believe.
I have zaggs on both mine and my wifes inspires and love them. We decided to get them after my wife somehow scratched her screen (very tiny and very thin - you can only see it at the right angle and only with the screen off in bright light-cant see it at all with the zagg on). The reason I went with the more expensive zagg is the lifetime free replacement - Would much rather scratch the zagg than my screen.
I wanna get the seidio surface but i'm afraid when i'm installing it will the screen protector, since you have to slide the phone throught the phone, you can't jut "pop it in". The only thing that ccome to mind is install the screen protectorafter installing the case, but i dont if it will fit with the case on.
Also i cant decide which screen protector to get zagg, skinomi or sgp , which one would you reccomend
Been using the best buy branded version of the surface since the inspire was released. And have been using a screen protector since June. As long as you get one that fits properly, there's no need to worry. My case has been off a number of times, like to keep the rom updated, and protector is in great condition. As to which protector, I think that's a personal preference.
If you want an antiglare one, go with the ones from Smartphone Experts from the Android Central Store at shopandroid.com. 2 custom cut screen protectors for $12.95 plus shipping. Very good buy and they last a long time. I work in a tire shop and it is very hard to scratch the protector and now I have them on my Vivid.
