[Q] Is Sensation worth to buy? - HTC Sensation

I am xperia neo user and want to move on, and buy a new and more powerful phone.
The question is,
1. Is Sensation still worth to buy?
2. Is Sensation get official ICS update from HTC?
3. Is Development here better or worse than neo? At least from cyanogenmod.
4. Could someone give me a reason why sensation is still worth.

Way too many problems after ICS update, also the device, no matter how good it is, suffers same issue as any other electronics ... is getting old and Sensation is old. Maby you are one of those who like to tweak and fix your phone, if yes Sensation is great for you - i buy phones to be actually able to use them normaly with not that much effort put into that. Sensation just needs way too much of my attention with every new update to check what was fixed and what was ****ed more then it already was. Sensation is great piece of hardware - no doubt about that - with crap system and crap software released by a company that dont give a jack about its customers. Thats my experience with Sensation and actually any HTC so far.
But this is very specific, subjective, yet based on reality, point of view. Good luck with deciding anyway.

Maybe i'll buy it, about $350 here.

You sound bitter. The Sensation doesn't have any real issues for many, many people. Plenty of roms to choose from and the S3 processor is more than capable of handling ICS, Sense or not. It's a great phone.

Any chance it will get jelly bean?
I am tired to exchange my phone every three months.
Just bought my neo three months ago and now i should change it cause the hardware is getting old and battery life not that good.
What about battery life on sensation? With normal usage (stock and CM).

I came from an Xperia Play at the weekend. The Sensation is superior in every way. The UI is much more fluid in every ROM, bigger and nicer screen, much better build quality and camera. Loads of roms and kernels to choose from. Overall I'm very happy with it

I found mine very slow after I got ICS OTA upgrade to GB and was going to change phone (I only ever had about 60mb RAM spare).
Then I spent some time here learning about rooting/custom ROM's and went ahead and rooted/install custom ROM. I now have over 300mb RAM spare and my phone is nice and fast....now I like my Sensation again

I'm still using a 524MHz phone with no GPU, OC'ed to 710, so a Sensation should be easily fine with ICS (and yes, I'm on ICS too)

I think at hardware side its still one of the most powerfull phones. That official Android 4 is maybe a little fail (Home screen falls almost every time when you close some biiger app) and camera has really bad quality, but with custom roms these problems disapears. For actual price i would highly recommend you to buy this phone.

Thanks guys for your opinion, i think i'll get my sensation soon.
Wait for me

Sensation is an old device but yet if u can't afford to wait for a newer device or simply can't afford it....then the sensation is a great device to buy !

I've reviewed both phones and I say yes it's worth it.
I'm a big fan of solid overall construction and while the Arc was really sexy it felt a tad cheap and a bit fragile.
The Sensation feels solid.
Then of course there is the Dual core, more ram, etc

Yes, if you were getting it for free. You have to say how much you have to pay for the upgrade, in order for others to tell you whether it is worth it.
Is there any thing about the Xperia Arc that you don't like? That you must get rid of and get a new device? The Xperia Arc is a rather new, slim, and nice device with a good camera.
Granted, it doesn't have dual core, but does that really matter? I mean, if one is buying a new device today, he/she'd better get one with dual core. But that doesn't mean anyone without a dual core phone needs to go get one.
This is just the first wave of high power dual core phones. The Xperia Arc is a modern and rather new device to be upgraded from. As much as I like my Sensation, I would hold on to it till the next wave of high end device comes, probably some time around the end of this year, if I were you.
i owned the sensation for a month now and im loving it especially with S-off now. It really isnt worth the upgrade for you now because the xperia arc is good device. if you really want to upgrade, do it or you can wait till the hercules comes out or the new nexus
Totally worth it. Just rooted and s-offed, flashed the revolution hd no sense ROM and this thing is amazingly fast and smooth. My phone is so much faster than stock and I'm underclocked to 1ghz each core.

It's really not worth the upgrade. If you're one of those people who always have to have the latest and greatest and seem to have money growing off of trees, get it; I don't really care, lol. Otherwise, if not, my sound advice is to hold off and calm yourself. You have a good device. I spent 2 years with a G1 and just upgraded to a Sensation. Being low on money, I returned the Sensation and am borrowing a friend's old MyTouch 4G which is good running MIUI.

I would say I'm one of these people who get bored of a phone within 6 months unfortunately I bought my arc, so I ain't tied down to a contract with it, but I do have a vodafone contract which is now due a upgrade, so I'm tempted to get a free upgrade. OK, get it then if you want. There's really not much to say. If you could wait it out, I would still suggest getting a better phone. You can wait a few more months without a problem I'm sure, and get a Nexus Prime or something

Some help please lol

Well I have a g2x atm, and let me tell you if when had more support from lg this phone would be on the top of the list but back to reality lol; I'm looking into getting a new phone and I'm stuck on the htc sensation and the the nexus s for t-mobile, now I need some help on this decision. How's the stock roms? Battery? Like just some feedback from you owners. Thank you for anyone who responds

Take a look in sensation android development and see roms support urself
There are lot of roms available for sensation and sensation having dual core processor as compared to nexus single core ,cam of sensation is also nice....8mpx ....
Sensation is definitely more powerful than nexus s.
Stock battery is 1520 mah and backup is gud not xcellent lol.
Sensation also support mhl hdmi support ,go for sensation its better than nexus s.

Well that would first depend on two main topics; whether you want HTC Sense or Vanilla Android.
The Nexus S's stock ROM is smooth, elegant, quick and stable because well it's pure Android.
The Sensation is a power house of hardware, HTC Sense has a lot of customization yet the stock ROM is sorta laggy here and there. However, if you root it, there are AMAZING Sense ROMs out there for you to flash it.
I went with the Sensation because it has a better processor, camera, more RAM, and it just looked awesome to me!
hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
Personally, I would wait a month or 3, as new phoens will be released. The Sensation is now a relatively old device, and HTC will be releasing some new ones in the coming few months
The Sensation is fantastic, I love mine, but it's "standard" with specs....nothing is outstanding.
Thanks guys your really helping me, when I make a list of pros and cons for both phones this is what I get
Sensation pros
4g
Dual core
8mp
Under t-mobile so I can always report my phone lost
Cons
I hear that battery isn't great
And I hear a lot of bad about the Prosser
And the stock roms which I would really like some feedback on it because I love both sense and stock so if I could flash either and they would work fine I would be so much in love with this phone lol
Nexus s pros
Updates lol
Super almoled screen
Cons
5mp
3g
Not under t- mobile
Single core
And this doesn't matter so much about waiting for a new phone I'm due for an upgrade in July and I'm not trying to waste an upgrade on a phone that isn't going to get love lol im going to use the upgrade when I see the phone having great development

Id go this route unless you insist on having a rooted phone with minimal wait time for development. The downside of being first to get a new phone is WAITING for anything to be done with it.
If it were me, Id stick with a rooted g2x and wait for something better to pop up. ICS is out and about and I am sure that any new phone that has good hardware will wind up being great with the addition of ICS.

Then he'll be waiting forever because there will always be new phones. Seriously though, While the Nexus S is smooth, ICS will make this phone one of the best available. The latest leaks are already butter 90% of the time, and they're just leaks.

After the Sensation what?

So, the Sensation has been out for a while and for me it has not lived up to my expectations. ICS is right around the corner for me but I'm sure it will make things somewhat more bearable until I do upgrade.
What is everyone planning on replacing their Sensation with?
Yesterday, I got to mess around with the Galaxy Note. All I have to say about that phone is that it is obscenely big. I love it. It's the only phone out now that is something truly different. Too bad it's AT&T.
The only other thing that is currently for sale is the Galaxy Nexus. Other than the fact that it's running ICS there isn't much to get excited about. I think I'm going to just keep my Sensation till the New Nexus phone is released and get on that one early.
I'm not a fan of Samsung's phones or touchwiz but I feel like HTC is just making phones while Samsung is experimenting with new forms and new ideas. If Cyanogemod 9 was out and if it were available on Tmo I'd be all over the Note.
What are you hoping to replace your Sensation with?
after so much Android, I'd like to try an iPhone or a WP7 device. then again I have my XE since one week only so I'm still in love
Replacing it now with Galaxy Nexus, ordered international version on dailysteals. I do not need the latest and greatest but want to have no skins and reliable software. I had custom ROMs since G1 but want to see how reliable is original Google software on hardware they test it with.
Sensation will go to DW who will replace her Vibrant.
Galaxy Note.
Or it's future WP7 equivalent because I can.
I'd go for the next iPhone only if it will have a 4" display. I really want to get myself an iPhone and see for myself what's all the fuss about.
But if Jellybean will be as innovative as ICS was when it launched I will definitely stay with Android and go for the next Nexus.

Just go and grab am iPod Touch if you really wanna how it looks and acts
I really love the look of new Sony xperias....specially the bottom strip....but i think i need to sacrifice on performance and available rom options if i wanna go with Sony.
Im keeping my sensation for a good while the nexus doesn't worth it 3hours screen on time max bad reception camera isn't great however great display and i have ics on my phone so the gnex isnt so special ...

On the contrary! As someone else said, sony have become very dev friendly and seem committed to updates. Most xperia phones are getting CM builds too.
That being said I'm loyal to HTC for now - sense is the best skin IMO and AOSP also sick and I have the option of both! While the one series looks sick, I think the sensation will do me fine for at least another year. As of right now quad-core isn't a necessity for me... but we'll see

Wherever the developers go, and some of the best stick with HTC phones. Prolly gonna end up with the ATT One X if TMo doesn't get it.
I just got my sensation. To be honest, in my opinion, companies comes out with every new versions of everything. But all in all, they're all the same. I was gonna wait for the HTC One S, but I figured, .3 difference on speed, just a little better on screen res. and beats? Not much of a difference, the sensation alone is fast and snappy, there is no reason for me to get anything high end because the sensation itself is a good device that pretty much do all the work. That's just me though AND, the sensation has a lot of love from the DEVs.

My personal experience is contrary.
My colleagues at work have iphones 4s. They often take photos for documentation. Their pics are generally ok for a phone camera but nothing special.
From what I see on a nearly daily base in real world, iphone photos are in no way superior to the pics I took with my X10i or take with my Sensation, which I think look remarkably clear.
Iphones produce exactly the same amount of crap as other phone cameras do.
Be warned ;-)

lg optimus 2x or htc desire HD?

Hey guys, just after some advice,
I need something to replace my HTC Tattoo, after a few weeks of trawling through video reviews like a monkey fossiking for nits, I've narrowed my choice to these two:
lg optimus 2x
htc desire HD
Any comments or advice to sway me in a particular direction?
Usage is: Browsing the net, emails, games, pretty much everything the phone can do.
I would most likely rip it's soul out and chuck a custom rom on it...
and i do have a budget so cant go any higher than these two really...
Thanks for any help!
Why don't you go for a newer device?
What country are you buying from and what's the budget?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I'm in New Zealand, budget is around $450 max NZD, if there are any newer comparable phones close to this price then I'm open to ideas!
Thanks!
I would suggest a HTC One V (Link) It's a pretty decent device running android 4.0 for about $450
That actually looks like an awesome phone didn't even know it existed, thanks!
I was really after a 4inch screen, but looking at that I wonder if its worth compromising on size to get a solid newer phone with smaller screen than getting an older one with a bigger screen...
Especially running ics and sense 4.0
Do you think the desire HD would get the ics and sense 4.0 update? If it did it has a bigger screen and same 1ghz processor

The 2x is a great device for the price, really speedy
The One V is a 3.7' so it's pretty close to a 4' Also the DHD well i think it is slated to receive ICS but it would only get sense 3.6 and that would most likely be it's last update. The One V is brand new and would probably receive 5.0
The one v is tempting, but for roughly same price, I don't think i can pass up the 4.inch screen dual core O2x
Especially since it's getting the ICS update later this year, and I see the devs here are close to a fully working ics rom...
Thanks for the help guys

I 've had the Optimus 2X and I was kind of dissapointed. LG just didn't make a good phone. It's ok, but I think you could go better.
Have you looked at the Galaxy S Advance?
Try to get a htc sensation or sensation XE , these are now more afordable and still are great phones , put arhd 6.6.5 rom on it with leedroidteaks and your phone will fly !

By the sounds of it I might stay away from the lg 2x, I'm glad I asked you guys now!

As a side note, had a look at the One V and Desire HD, they are identical hardware wise as far as I can see, but the desire has bigger screen and more ram, and with the rom the awesome Devs are porting, why wouldnt you get that instead?

Also(not sure if this is the right place to ask) but is there any difference between phones bought elsewhere, for example, can I buy a phone from Australia(off ebay) and use it here in NZ?
As far as I am aware as long as it is unlocked it should be fine?

You could get any phone and use it there. Most european carriers don't lock their phones, but some do, and it should be written on ebay.
As for old phones, you should know that the king of phones is Galaxy S II.
Xperia S is an ok phone, that had some problems and people overall were not satisfied. Something like the Lg 2X. Ok phones, but small problems that you can't tell from looking them on pictures but only by using them.
The sensation is a good phone but compared to Galaxy S II it's worst (i am comparing them since they are at the same price range)...
there's still a lot of better phone out there
HTC Desire HD
LG Phones are laggy

Go for the htc desire HD or Sensation if possible. The developer community for these phones are great and there are stable ICS roms for both.

Why should i decide to stay with one s?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you a couple of questions. HTC ONE S is a beautiful phone, fast, the best to the touch and with a processor speed but ... But in the period where they are baked increasingly cheap quad core and even dual core as the new pro s4 are faster. In addition there is the problem that is not particularly supported by Community, stay with One S?
Express your thoughts thanks
If you want a dull vanilla android then yes ! But I would stay with one s or maybe shift to one x , one x+ or Samsung galaxy s3 ,try using a aokp/aosp Rom that's how a nexus device is,, very plain !! , if you got money to spent go buy some other quad cores like one x and sgs3 , people go with HTC and Samsung coz of their innovative ui ( sense for HTC and touchwiz for Samsung) . Android has only be rocking because of Samsung HTC and Sony , nexus devices are cheaper but not that enjoyable ,

I would say opposite of what this guy says. Samsung and HTC throw crappy interfaces over stock android making it slower and only causing you to not get the updated operating system timely on your phone. Vanilla android is best and I'm planning to buy nexus 4 as soon as it's out. One decent reason to stick with one s is that you don't have money to throw around buying the latest and greatest phone.

Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do? Are a few more megaflipflops of processing power really going to make your life better?
If the answer to either of these questions is yes then buy another phone.
Trendy
Trend!!!
People wants to be trendy. Mostly iPhone users. Do not be like them.
As @Troute said: Is the phone unable to do something that you need it to do?
I find support pretty decent depending on what you're looking for. There's a good variety of different ROMs available to suit your tastes. Even though there's faster phones available now, it really depends on what you need to make your phone work for you. If you don't notice any issues with lag, performance is good, and battery life is good then I think things should be ok?

I spent $285 on this phone I think I got a solid deal. Definitely don't get an iphone anywhere near retail value. If I had to get a phone right now I would buy the Nexus 4.
Well as it stands right now the nexus 4 is gonna be strictly worst than our phone cuz LG made it. Anyone one else confused on that?
I say go for a onex+ or a s3. imma skip out on this round of smartphones though cuz our one s is one of the top phones out. Everytime i pull it out ppl are like OMG what phone is that. pretty much once the wow factor is gone its time for an upgrade lol
I mainly need a really powerful camera to replace compact digital camera for daily use, I don't want to take two devices go out. So, I will stay with One S and not to go with N4 like everyone else here.
I will probably buy a new phone later when HTC or Sony introduces their new camera sensor. HTC is going to roll out 5" 1080 J Butterfly with 8M cam in Dec on Japan, wanna see if the sensor get improved and I might get one.

LG is guilty of terrible software, but with the Nexus 4 that's not an issue. The hardware of the Nexus 4 is patchwork. On one hand you have the quad core S4 pro, on the other you're stuck with only 12gb of accessible space. On one hand you have an amazing screen, on the other the battery life sucks and can't be upgraded. You have to decide what you can tolerate to decide if a Nexus is for you. I love AOSP, but HATE limited storage. I love the resolution, but HATE the battery life. So I won't be getting a Nexus 4.

I may get the nexus 4 it will have a lot of devs working on it and I could just flash a sense rom onto the phone because I like sense. And I really want nfc
It's only 280 pound for 16gb and it beats the GS3 in specs

I don't like the thing that they're delaying new updates too much and plus it's not that well made except the ceramic body ofc
