Hi there,
I got a bootloop issue when I decompile-recompile framework-miui-res.apk from MIUIv4 ROM using apktool. Decompilation comes without any error. Compilation passes after renaming <id> <xml> ... <layout> tags with <item type="id,xml...layout"> in res/ , but I get a bootloop then. When I keep original (signed) framework-miui-res.apk, everything works fine.
I tried new framework-miui-res.apk after a cache+dalvik wipe and a fullwipe and result is always the same even using an original "just" decompiled-compilation corrected-recompiled apk. Bootloop.
Take time to read the Logcat.
Thanks for help ! If you need any other information, do not hesitate .

I've had trouble with apktool before. Try seeing if apk manager solves your problem.
Nope, unfortunately, it didn't worked .
Have you tried different apk tool versions?

Really fast answer. Thank you. I just used the last version. You think that a previous version (such as 1.4.2) should do the trick ? I read somewhere that debuild with 1.4.3 and rebuild with 1.4.2 gives surprising (good) results. I guess I did try it but it did not work.

flashable zips for _deodexed_ roms: (do not flash them over odexed ones. if in doubt, consult your chef)
as the source code for htc's _heavily_ modified and extended android framework is not publicly available, implementing features like this isn't that straightforward as it is for aosp-based roms
i took the 2.2_r1.1 aosp sources, coded the reboot entry with the dialog (directly into the power menu to maintain a mininal footprint), created dummy stubs for external htc framework references, looked up and hardcoded htc string/icon resource ids, fiddled with the code until it barely compiled
then i baksmali'd my own build, took only the relevant changes, and injected them into the baksmali'd original
hi,
good work ;-) but i have one question:
did this work on auraxtsense 7.6? if yes, what file i need to download?

Really nice! That's what I was looking for!
I now have the reboot option in my AuraxTSense 7.6 I flashed 2.12.911.1 at first because I didn't know which one to use and it worked flawlessly. Now flashing the version 2.10.406.2 since it seems that's the one you are saying it's the one compatible with AuraxTSense
Thanks a lot. I'm really happy now. My rom now has everything I wanted

Oooohhh... Well, thanks anyway.
Do you think there should be any side effect now that I flashed it? Everything looks OK (reboot took very little, not like everybody else is reporting, like nothing changed) but do you think I should reflash/nandroid restore?

I reckon you will still need the help of experienced dev as the way how they symlink market cache to /data is not explained there (I don't know how to either, that ramdisk failed for me every time I tried it). Without it you will have a hard time updating apps with size >5mb.

Hello Guys,
I have been wandering (NOOB QUESTION) if this would work. I know is a totally noob question, I googled it found no answers. I don't feel like bootlooping my device so I just want to know if it works?
I've used the kitchen using the Android Revolution rom. Works great. But always make a nandroid backup just in case.

what was the problem? not able to run the app? FC? not even installing it?
Don't know if it'll stick, but for now this is the only solution for me, where reinstall/cache wipe/whatever did not work... Thanks Alex!
@nikosrs4: The Facebook app would give a connection error "no peer certificate" which would render the whole app completely useless.
=(
i don't understand. What should i do whit the certificates?

I think it might be related to your SIM card as WiFi probably works without SIM, the new update coming for the ROM will more than likely fix this issue. There is a country WiFi fix here on xda for this type of issue but not sure if it works successfully with ViperS v5.0, could be worth a try though for the meantime.

Yes you have to replace the framework2 and to add a line to build.prop ro.product.locale.region=US and that reboot your phone
