[Q] "lost+found" orphan - Captivate General

Titanium Backup has been unable to clean an orphan file it finds called lost+found.
I got this when installing Doc's ICS rom, but also saw it when I tried Slim's ICS rom. Never saw it using GB roms. Have done complete wipes and system formats prior to flashing these roms.
When I pull the SD card out, TB doesn't show this orphan. Also, SD Maid doesn't show it anywhere (sd card in or out)
Any thoughts? Should I reformat my external card? Should I just ignore it and assume it's a bug in TB? It is not affecting performance. I'm just a nut when it comes to keeping my phone clean and bug-free.
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about that file. I have always had it, and it probably serves some hidden purpose.

you can just delete the folder. i do all the time to keep my card clean. i have had no issues.

[Q] Noob question about roms

I have been using Skyraider roms for a while now and love them, but since i have been doing the updates I have run out of room on my SD card. Can someone please tell me the files that can be deleted off of the card. I always do a backup when installing a rom, can i delete it ? if so what is the file name? please help.... oh yeah it on a droid incredible
I would simply copy everything you need to an external SD card or computer and do a full wipe/factory reset before installing the latest rom. This should clear everything unnecessary and most likely speed up your phone
You could try my app and see if you can get some more space.

Backups will be in the clockworkmod folder on your SD card and they do take up quite a bit of space.

[Q] What are the files inside .android_secure?

i seem to have over 1 GB of wasted space in that folder .android_secure
any 1 got a clue if those are safe to delete?
I've never found that deleting anything on my SD card caused major problems for the phone, including .android_secure. Of course, that folder has never been 1 GB in size for me, either, so I suppose your results may vary. Really, though, all the system stuff is in the protected internal storage, so I doubt you'll do much worse than delete media files or whatever apps you've moved to the SD card, if that. I say give it a shot and see what happens. Of course, I take no responsibility for anything that does go wrong if you do. >.>
apparently those are Apps settings or something along the lines
i flashed SuperAOS and during the wiping process it showed it was deleting .android_secure
App2sd
This is where the operating system stores a portion of the apps. Anytime you install a new app and choose to install it to the SD card, it puts a large portion of the app into this folder. Deleting the contents would delete your apps.
If you move an app to the SD card via the official (2.2+) method, this is where (most of it) goes.
Hi,
I recently flashed a new ROM and had to do a full wipe including factory reset. I copied some apps to SD, and indeed I see that the .android_secure folder has a lot in it, taking up space. I installed all apps again from market on the new ROM install, and they all say they can be copied to SD again, so they don't take information from the previously installed bits on the SD card. Is it safe to delete everything in this folder?
EDIT: I have an HTC Hero, but only noticed when I posted this that this is a Samsung Nexus S thread. I'm guessing that this is not that big a deal?

sorry to revive this thread after so long, but does this folder also store the app data? In other words, for games like plants vs zombies or angry birds etc, if I copy the corresponding files over to my new phone (after installing PVZ/AB on the new phone of course), does it also copy over my progress?
(recently swapped my EVO 4G to EVO 3D and trying to figure out how to copy the game progress over - esp for PVZ)

Isn't that only for rooted phones?

A problem after installing CM7......

So I installed Cm7 7.0.3 and I had all the things backed up that I wanted to install on Cm7, using TB. When I opened TB on cm7, I noticed none of the things I backed up on Vegan GB rom were there. Things I backed up, were like the amazon store, my swiftkey beta app, and a few others. What would cause my backups not to show???
did you save the TB backup file to your PC, then recopy it back after you flashed CM7?
Basically, you must have wiped the data, deleting the backup file. about once a week, I backup my backup by copying the file to my PC. If anything happens that causes a full wipe (like installing a new Rom could) then I'll just need to reinstall TB, copy the file from my PC back to the TB folder on the tab, and it will have the necessary information to restore.

No I didn't. But what I just noticed is, that it didn't seem to be reading my sd card, because every thing I had on my sd that showed up on my vegan gb rom, didn't show up on the cm7 rom.
Note that CM7 maps your internal/external SD differently than Vegan.
In VEGAN ROMs, internal is /sdcard and external is /sdcard2. In CM7, internal is /emmc and external is /sdcard.
If you backed up in VEGAN, TB backed up to your internal SD. With CM7, TB is looking for your stuff on /sdcard, which now points to your external. Hence why you may not be seeing your stuff.
Try flashing the file referenced here -- it switches the mount points in CM7.
It's strange, it's like it's not reading what I have on my sd card. When I restore to vegen gb, it's all there.

Yup. Re-read my previous post. Based on this, I'd bet money that is the reason why.
Is there anyway I can fix this?.

I answered this a few posts above. And I saw you started another thread about the same subject.
Here.

Fixing folders from 4.2

I flashed a 4.2 ROM. PA 3.10 to be exact. And it did the thing with the 0 and legacy folders it needed to do for the multi-user feature. I didn't like it and I'm back on 4.1. My ROM is really confused because the folder structure is still on 4.2. Anyway to get the folder directory back to normal 4.1?
I thought I put this in Q&A, I do apologize. If a mod comes along could you move it?

I recently went through the same thing. There may be a better way, but I formatted the Internal SD card through TWRP and then ran my backup app restore and everything is back to normal. Make sure you copy anything on your Internal SD that you want to save before doing the format...

So format the internal? Do you need to reflash the ROM? Could I just restore from a back-up after the wipe?
Thanks for your reply.

I got impatient and ran it through anyway. Went off without a hitch. Thanks for your help!

No problem, glad it worked. I didn't have to change anything with the ROM I was on, I just needed to restore my apps since some of were on the Internal SD. I had also read that you could keep the Internal SD and delete the 0 folder, but I got an error every time I tried deleting it.

What do I NEED to keep on my SD card?

I'm trying to clean up my SD card and free up some space. I have some files on there that I am wondering if I need to leave them, or if I can store them on my computer instead.
I always have 2 roms on there.
Synergy_backup_HWkeys_signed.zip (I think that has something to do with my IEMI backup)
MB1 modem
MF1 modem
SuperSU_bootloader_fixed.zip
triangleAway-v2.37.zip
The tibu backup folder......is there only one (the most recent back up in there)
Anything else I can delete that you can think of?
Thanks so much!
Sdcard as in internal or external sd? If external, I doubt there are many apps that see it besides music/vids/pics apps. If internal then if that's all you cherish, everything else can be deleted. I'd save pics/vids but to each his own. Some folders will be rebuilt if you're flashing a rom as well.
You can delete the modems and the SU zip, you won't need those anymore. And I don't know about you but I have 1 TiBu folder which only holds my most recent backups. And if you are referring to an Ext SD Card then you can be liberal with what you delete, no important system data should be going there
If you're responding to me, make sure to quote me so I get an immediate email
You should be able to delete everything (if you don't want pics, etc). However, I remember there was some sort of bin file or something like that on the top most layer of files. I tried deleting it (after opening it and not finding any data), and it messed everything up to the point where I had to reflash the ROM. To this day, I don't know where it came from. But now whenever I reflash a ROM I completely wipe my internal card to get rid of any weird files that may still be around.
