Hi, i was currently using SKY ICS UCLD2--- 4.2D-6 and i tried getting the lte. During that process when i took out my sim card everything started going wrong.
My phone would at first only boot up and wouldn't get past the second samsung screen. Now it gets stuck at the boot animation screen. I wasn't able to get into download at first but after a successful try of pressing up real quick i can get into Download. I've downloaded a few tars from the threads hoping it will be fixed but i keep getting the same results. I go to the noob section tried downloading the tars for stock but when i try to download them they are the wrong format and wont open in odin. I am currently just sitting in odin and the download section. Can anyone help me
i believe it messed up because i save everything to my simcard instead or my sd card and when i took the sim card out to reboot it caused the soft brick
Download and install 7zip, its free. Then download the first link in this first of this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348
Open it in 7zip and drag out/extract tar file. The extracted file is the one u odin /download to phone
+1 the tar in the odin thread has a .7z extension. The .tar is inside. Unzip/decompress then flash. But great that u actually read and made an honest attempt to find the answers. If everyone did this. We would really be in business.
if this works i owe u like $400 !!! i just hope this will work
And honestly. If u just run the ics onclick. It will fix your softbrick as well.
---------- Post added at 12:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:07 PM ----------
With out unziping anything. Or installing anything. U can just put your phone in dl mode and click one button. It will fix it
OMG IT WORKS YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DONT EVEN CARE IF ITS GINGERBREAD!!! IT WORKS WOAHHHHHH
lol Thank you from the bottom of my heart
That can be found here http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23105-i727ucld2/
Run that and youll be on ics. But not rooted. Youll need to use odin to flash cwm recovery. Then either flash superuser. Or a custom rom thats already rooted.
i actually went there and downloaded the torrent but found somethign else and stopped the torrent download
Hey if i download the cwm cant i just restore my last save or will i need to dl the modem, touch recovery , ics
You should be fine to restore
ok so i restored back to a earlyer time not ics but gingerbread but i always get a message saying
Sorry!
the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again
sounds like corrupt data or restore. Try a fix permissions in clockworkmod, or rom manager.
And if i helped u, hit that thanks button
So i did the odin to stock thing and at first all was well. I then reinstalled clockwork mod through odin then i restored from a nandroid backup. And it seemed good except i couldnt call or look at my conacts. So i restarted thinking things would get better. And now i'm going through the same problem. So later ill just do the ics through one click and hope that works
So i downloaded the tar for ucld2 and i have ics but unrooted. My question now is how do i get my download section back? i cant seem to get into downloads but i have a system recovery image now. I want to get the new touch recovery could i get the zip and add it that way instead of using odin?
Anyone?
If you don't have cwm you have to use Odin to flash that recovery back onto your phone
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
i cant get into downloads anymore.
what do u mean by downloads? SD card folder? in any case u can't use one recovery to flash another, use Odin.
when i say downloads i mean the menu u have to get into to use odin

Hey All,
Just had my infuse for a week and no complaints about the phone so far. But I have been reading a lot on this forum and I want to get off this stocky phone and get a ROM on it and see how much better it will be.
I'm fairly new to this as I have never rooted or loaded ROM's before, so running into a lot of problems. Trying to root my Rogers Infuse with superoneclick which didn't work and ended up getting stuck in boot loop so used odin3 fix and got it up and running again and rooted phone.
I downloaded the 3e recovery and used root explorer to r/w in system/bin which is telling me to rename old recovery file but for some reason I don't have an original recovery file. So I just paste the one I downloaded and unzipped in the folder, use rom manager and flash cwm. Then when I get to cwm recovery to reinstall packages but that option is not available on screen.
Sorry guys I'm pretty struggling with this, I have been searching all over and starting to think I should just stick to stock. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance!!

You probably need to hit reinstall packages twice then it should turn green and then you flash

First download your ROM,next use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14053463
Then flash your ROM
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
you never set up CWM...
download rom manager from the market, click "flash clockworkmod recovery", then select plain old galaxys i900.
this should give you the "reinstall packages" option that you are looking for, and selecting that twice will get you to green recovery.
or you could just flash any infusion froyo kernel with heimdall or odin and get directly to red CWM (which is where you generally want to be flashing zips from).
Damn just tried it but stuck on Samsung boot screen. Seemed like everything got loaded on the phone, Odin3 said it was completed too. Maybe there is something wrong with my phone thanks.

Not to sure how to flash kernels yet.

try starting fresh from stock, and following this video to get your modded 3e recovery. make sure you adjust the permissions like the video does.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkMo8rBehHg
I will give it another go at it.
I will follow this link to get back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
There are 2 downloads there that I see. "stock + rooted + 3e" and the other is "100% stock"
E
whenever i need to (i say that because most of the time it isn't really necessary), i always go back to 100% stock, do a factory reset from settings (make sure the contents of your SD card are backed up), and re-root it using superoneclick (making sure USB debugging is on, and my SD card is mounted).
then, follow the youtube video for modded 3e recovery, making sure to adjust the permissions at the end. flash clockworkmod recovery again in rom manager (plain old galaxys i9000), and this should allow you to finally flash your ROM.
Yea going to give it one last try before I go to bed thanks!

This is a good read on this phone. Kind if weird being so different from my Captivate for doing roms.
Thanks guys flashed Serendipity 7 it's great!

UCKD5 is a Froyo AT&T-derived ROM - the bootloaders on your Rogers Infuse probably won't like it.
It looks like you eventually figured things out, but in general - the Rogers Infuse has different "back to stock" and "rooting" processes from AT&T devices due to it having stock Gingerbread and more specifically, Gingerbread bootloaders. Since far more people here own AT&T Infuses, the Rogers-specific threads tend to get buried on the 2nd/3rd pages of dev, and people here forget that Rogers devices are "special" when posting suggestions.

yea, I apologize. right after I hit the post button I realized I had posted it in the wrong one. Is there a certain person who is supposed to fix that or can I do it?
and as for the reply above asking "wont the stock odexed roms do this"? they might but I have never been able to push the correct file to system/bin to fix the clockwork recovery so I cant even get in there to flash any different rom. I have been researching for a few hours and I think I can undo everything in superoneclick.

You *SHOULD* be able to get away with the KG2 ROM which T-Mobile sent OTA to the Sidekick a few months ago. You can get that and the PIT file required to flash it back via ODIN here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186954
*DISCLAIMER* I'm not responsible for anything you do or do not do here or any negative outcome. Of course, I'm happy to take the credit if everything turns out just peachy.

The link works fine, you can flash the KG2 one linked above this post or the KD1 version here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088413 . Follow the instructions, then once you use ODIN to get back to stock you can return the phone as it is. It'll be just like the software was never manipulated.
Also, i'll be moving this thread to the general section by the end of the day. If you havent responded yet i'll PM you to see if you still need help.
Immediate action required
Yeah, lolzy title.
I soft-bricked my SK4G trying to flash a custom ROM without making any backups or checking anything prior.. and I suffered.
I have ODIN and the sk4g.pit file, a good USB connection with stock cable and I cna get into download mode. Everything is looking really good, except MegaUpload and MultiUpload are down thanks to our guys up in the White House.
So, my (really desperate) question is, can anyone give me a working link to either KD1OdinSTOCK.tar or KG2OdinSTOCK.tar ? Even if it's .tar.md5, as long as it is the file I need to flash back to factory firmware, I'll love you forever. Been looking for 2 days already =\

EDIT: I found a firmware that seems to be the latest for SK4G, Looks like the tag is "KH1" Rather than KD1 or KG2.
androidwaptoday.blogspot.com/2011/10/stock-rom-t839uvkh1-221-for-samsung.html
I've downloaded it but I can't get into the .tar without a password? Is this normal for android firmware or is something wrong?
I'm also curious if I can odin my phone with this file rather than the other 2 mentioned above. Thanks again!
I also need the KD1 or KD2 firmware... it would be very helpful if somebody could post a working link!!! Ive been looking for 3 days haha
Help would be greatly appreciated!
Souldrainer, I think I may have found newer firmware. It looks legit and is from SamFirmWare.
http://hotfile.com/dl/145788939/08a9a06/SGH-T839_T839UVKH1_TMB.zip.html
That is the address to the file itself. If that does not work, look up "T839UVKH1" on SamFirmWare.com.
To get the password to open the file, you'll need to sign up on their website (free)
as far as I know, it contains everything KD1 or KG2 firmware would, and is newer. I believe you odin your phone with this program. I'm about to... as soon as I can get odin to recognize my phone.
the reason why i wanted it was because in case i did something wrong with CWM, because i cannot put the recovery file in with KJ2, i wanted something i could rely on to back it up because i can't make a nandroid backup..
I rooted the phone but it wont let me put in the recovery file, and when i try to boot into recovery i get the stock recovery, am i supposed to use the update.zip file that i got? cuz im not sure if it would work with KJ2.
and thank you for the file!!! i shall check it out xD
I believe the reason you're not going to CWM Recovery is because theres a binary file you need to edit since the SideKick has a faulty Recovery file.
http://www.simply-android.com/discu...work-mod-recovery-for-t-mobile-sidekick-4g/p1
If I'm not mistaken, the edited binary file can be found here, and that will allow you to boot into CWM Recovery. Be sure to back up the files just in case. And on the site it tells you to overwrite (still back up) so overwrite, and do not replace or rename. Hopefully that'll help!
yea but it wont let me replace the file, it keeps saying file already exists or that i cant do that

If you are rooted, you have to make sure that the system partition is mounted as readable/writable (r/w) before you attempt to replace the recovery binary file.
The easiest way to do that is download ES File Explorer from the market, then go into settings and scroll all the way to the bottom. Select the check box for "Root Explorer" ; then, check the box for "Mount File System". You will get a superuser warning prompt- "Allow" it.
Now go follow the process to overwrite the recovery binary and you shouldn't have any problems.
--Finally, make sure that you ALSO have the update.zip on your SD card and boot into recovery. You will end up seeing the stock recovery-select "reinstall packages" and voila... you should be in CWM.
The password is "samfirmware.com" without the quotes (simple google search).
So I also have this file (T839UVKD1) sitting on my hard drive waiting to find out: is this safe to use?
I don't care if it's new or old, it's the only .tar related to the SK4G that's downloadable and it just needs to work.
I just don't understand why no one will simply post T839UVKD1 or T839UVKG2 for those of us who need it (is it a bandwidth thing?), everyone just wants to say, "just go to here/this post," where all the wonderful instructions are that can help me save my phone, but where the links are dead (megaupload and multiupload are down, as we all know, so the files are unattainable) so we download Odin or Heimdal and the .pit file, but are stuck because: no .tar.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
T839UVKD1 SHOULD be safe to use proving the file you have is not corrupted, you can use it for Odin. if you wouldnt mind posting it i would really super appreciate it!

Heimdall says "[email protected]@@[email protected] could not be located in the dynamic link library MSVCR100.dll"
I've googled it and can't get a solution that works.
I have seen many posts about this before, and tried to follow them and they did not work for me. Was trying to install a rom then realized it soft bricked because i still had the stupid voodoo cwm installed. So i go to use odin and flash stock. Did that, all settings were fine in odin, but im stuck at TMobile Sidekick boot screen. Ive tried odin MULTIPLE times now and its still not working. Any hope?
Hmm, did you try Odin with 're-partition' checked? I always check that when Odining back from Voodoo lagfix.
Yes i had that and auto reboot checked
that's strange. well, as long as you have the SK boot screen there is definitely hope. what stock tar file are you using, where did you DL it? and you had the pit file in place too, yeah?
it should work. also, there is adamoutler's Heimdall as another option, i have used that also.
I did have the pit file in. and i selected KD1OdinSTOCK.tar through PDA. Also i could not figure out heimdall..
you might wanna try the KG2 file, the KD1 was not as reliable to me, from what i remember. will link you to the KG2 in a second...
find the KG2 Odin Tar in the first post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538576
that should hopefully work for ya.
Downloading now thanks for the link
no problem, let me know how it goes.
still not working
[EDIT] I downloaded a different KD1 and it worked! thanks for the help though!
yikes, sorry about that. not sure why that would be... unless one of the components of the tar file isn't flashing.
so it is hanging at the boot logo when it tries to boot up? Odin runs thru the whole process(about 3-4 minutes), and you get the green "Pass" message at the end.
a different KD1 download worked thanks though!
ok, great!

Its the same procedure you use to root your device. Put the phone in download mode and plug in usb cable. But instead of selecting blaze-root-kernel.tar (the rooted kernel you used), you'll instead select SGH-T769-UVLB7-hitsquad.tar. I have not needed to restore my device yet, so I have no experience. Just knowledge from reading. So don't take me for granted!

I'm sure it wasnt the roms (I tried flashing both) that caused it because I couldn't restore my backups either, though I still don't know what happened. Safe to say the restore to stock was very fast, and now I have no worries if I soft brick again.
i wanted to root my phone and upgrade to jelly bean on my sgh-7127 and i accidently forgot to move cm-10-20120722 zip to my sd card. everything was working smoothly... followed the steps precisely, all the way to step to this step....
7. Select Install ZIP from SD Card. Select Choose ZIP from SD Card and locate the CyanogenMod 10 Alpha ROM.
then i realized i messed up. what do i do now? i tried to restore, reboot... send the file to sd card plugged in. want do anything except show samsung on the screen. how can i start over.... did i brick this phone?
By restore do you mean restore a backup? Or restore factory in CWM? You made a backup of stock I presume?
How did you try to send file? Seems you have CWM installed so just boot into recovery, I believe it's power while holding volume up then release power once on and keep holding volume.
You can go to mount and storage in recovery, choose mount USB, and easily transfer whatever you want from your PC.
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Use the Q&A forum next time please, this thread will probably be moved there sooner or later.
I didn't quite understand what is your issue but if I got it right you have a boot loop, meaning everytime your phone boots up to samsung's logo it restarts.
You can do a few things, first restore a backup, you said you tried it and if you're still on a boot loop the backup may have been a bad one, try using an earlier backup if you have one.
Second in recovery mount your SD card and copy the file to it.
Third, get an external SD card, plug it to your computer with an adapter, copy the file, insert to your phone and flash from there.
Last option restore to stock rooted ICS using odin, you can find the tar on the dev section. Copy the file to your phone and flash your desired rom.

Connect phone to pc while in cwm. In cwm you can go to advanced-->mount USB storage/SD card. Then you can place the file on external SD. If you are on cwm 6.0.1.2 then I believe there is a choose zip from internal SD option

b4 you started flashing on your new toy, dont you think you should of done more reading, my suggestion, read my 2nd link on restoring to stock in my sig, its for newbs but you need some computer knowledge, and stay that way until you become more knowledgeable on android, flashing, and using a custom recovery.
btw, you dont need to root to flash custom roms, so your title for this thread is not even the problem you have, lol.

dude... im just trying to get where i can use the phone again. ive tried everything. how can i just upload the original ics firmware and the phone work? i missed one important step when i tried rooting with jelly bean. ive erased, backed up, restored, flashed, odin... everything. nothing works. it will not go back to stock ics. all you get is a bright samsung image and the ability to mess with clock work. this really sux. i wouldnt have a problem if i didnt accidently miss that one step. wish like hell i could just reverse this and move on. i have a kid on the way and i really need my phone.
I don't think you gave a response on putting the JB file on the phone. Forgetting to put a file on the SD card is far from a problem.
Go to mounts in recovery and mount as USB while connected to your PC. Just pull the rom file over and continue on with the install as you normally would.
If you want to go back to stock there's a thread on odin'ing back to stock.

thats just it, you dont need to root anything, all custom roms are prerooted, only stock needs to be rooted, if you read anything you would of known, and if having a phone is important to you because you have a kid on the way, stop flashing. im not trying to be rude,
if you have twrp, goto mount usb storage, either you have internal or external checked sdcard, they might both work, transfer a rom that you have on your comp or dl another one to your sdcard....umount, hit the home button , hit install and find the rom you put on your sdcard
bam!!!! got it running usung odin. all i had to was extract ics firmware through odin then flash. if you dont extract the file to odin it want work. i still want to root and use jelly bean but im kinda nervous after all this crap i went through with this phone lol
thanx for the help!!!

You really don't listen. I hope you get it back up and running but you should leave it stock until you get a true grasp on what you are doing. I'm not trying to be rude but you need a more in depth knowledge or you will end up with a paperweight.
As described before, custom roms are PRE-Rooted. You don't need root to flash it. You simply need cwm touch, the necesary files, and most important, knowing what you are doing once it comes time to flash. No one wants to see u brick your phone and that is why we strongly suggest you get back stock firmware and learn before moving forward. Jellybean isn't that stable quite yet anyway with random reboots and lockups among various other problems still yet to be ironed out so even if you were successful in flashing jb you would probably want to go back to a more stable rom. You said it yourself that you have kids and are quite busy

I think what he meant is, he had a completely stock phone, and rooted it to get cwm on it. I don't think he was trying to root his custom rom.
But dude, you REALLY don't need to be putting JB on your phone yet, it's not stable and if you're having this much trouble with the simple stuff, you definitely are in for lots of headaches with JB! Even the guys that been doing this for a while have issues. If you absolutely must have a custom rom though, go with cm9 stable release. I really recommend that you leave your phone stock for now, until you get a better grip on things and you can risk losing your phone for a while. It just takes one missed step, like this one you just did, to brick your phone. Think about it.
