I have searched the forum for hours, and from all I can find it is impossible to root the Asus Transformer if it has the most recent update.
I have found that it is possible to root if you are able to flash an older update, however, I cannot find anywhere that I can download the older update to make this possible.
If someone can help me out it would be awesome!
Thanks everyone.

Download the older version from asus website. Extract to root of the microsd then remove and replace the micro sd. You should get a notification of the updaate.
Finally figured it out! Thanks! I had to switch os version from Win 7 64 to android for it to show up.
I was just wondering after getting my Asus Transformer the other day and found out it was a B70 model.
I figured out that it is has the newer SDK which does not allow NvFlash to connect and root the device.
I heard that there were other methods to root and was wondering what those other methods are and if they are compatable with the newer SDK in the B70 model.
As far as I can tell, after a bunch of reading, the other rooting methods only worked on 3.0.x versions of Android, so that rules out all the B70 revisions (they seem to ship with 3.1).
I've got an unrootable B70 aswell, hoping a dev comes along with a solution at some stage.
Same here, got B70 model, tried everything but nothings works. I really need it because it wont recognize my phone´s internet (using Joikuspot on a Nokia N8).
Let's hope some1 finds a solution for us.
Yeah i hope so.
Its wierd though my mate bought and recived his transformer the same time as me and they are both B70 models, yet he can root his fine and mine wont. I believe he has the younger B70 model that still has the original SDK.
Just rooted mine! B70K...
Hi there,
I just received my brand new TF101 (B70K????) from amazon.co.uk yesterday and was very disappointed when I found all this treads saying you can't root a B70 version.
I decide to have a go rooting just now using the live CD method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198303 and I managed to get my TF101 root the first try!
The means not all B70s are with the new SBK.
Happy now....
Joe.
We are pretty screwed at the moment, till DEV's find a way to root B70 Transformers... arghhh FREAKIN ASUS

Hi, Could you pls confirm if your TF101 came with 3.1 or 3.2? Mine was with 3.1 and I made the mistake of upgrading to 3.2 Now it won't root using the nvflash test which I did..
I would go ahead and install Linux in case you were able to root on Android 3.2 after upgrading your firmware!
(Also, it says now ww 8.6.5.9 20110816)
Cheers
Sam
The OTA-update from Asus does NOT upgrade the SBK, so if your B70 TF shipped with the old SBK, it still has it, no matter the OS version it runs. My B70 came with 3.1, I updated it with the official 3.2 OTA, and still managed to root with NvFlash.
Keep an eye on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232612 to find out what SBK you run. Or simply just give NvFlash a go, as far as I understood, if you have the new SBK it won't get any contact, so it won't do anything nasty to your device. I might be wrong, though...

Possibly it might be a matter of days when RayMan, LilStevie release a new method of unlocking! Need to wait until then..and yeah, ran that nvflash thing as well and it gave error ..0x4 and write error..
Hi everyone!
I´m new here in the forum, and i´m also new in this android world. So, i got a Transformer TF101G recently, and i have researched a lot about android and this device. I discovered this forum, which has been particularly useful, and learned a lot. So, to the questions...
1 - My device is B90 and if I rooted the device can I take it back to factory status?
2 - If I brick trying to root can I return it to normal?
3 - There are any ROM's for TF101G? (That can use a SIM card to acess the web)
4 - If there are ARM versions of linux distro's, why it is not possibly to just install them like an ordinary PC?
PS - I know that the majority of the questions as solutions for B70 and lower devices, but how about B90?
Thanks a lot,
BU2T3R.

1. Yes, im pretty sure you could flash the original firmware from Asus and it will unroot.
2. Im not sure, but if you do manage to get bricked. What you could try do is wipe all data.
3. Yes, look in the Development section i know i've seen roms supporting 3g.
Hoped i helped a little lol
Hi!
Yes you did, thank you for your help. I could find a bunch of ROM's that support 3G. About question one, I read some users saying there is no "sure-fire" way to recover from brick on SBKv2 devices =(. Besides that I've OTA .23 so as I discovered nothing for me to root. Even the .21 are difficult and doesnt work with everybody. If someone could answer de questions, please do.
Thank you,
BU2T3R.

Thanks a lot for the info! I´ve searched in Nachoroot thread and I could see many people have done it. But now I have a question about this NachoRoot, the final results are the same as any other root method?
Thank you,

Yes, there is no difference. Only way to root is different. In the end everybody ends up with a su file in /system/xbin (and superuser).
root = root
Does anyone know where I might be able to find the latest of the Honeycomb updates? I've got the 8.6.5.13 NVFlash, but I've been searching and haven't been able to find any of the 'Official' updates. It doesn't help that searching XDA for '8.6.5.19' actually searches for '8 6 5 19'. I believe the latest is either 8.6.6.21 or 8.6.5.21? If someone could point me in the direction of the latest (or two latest) oficcial Asus Honeycomb updates, I'd appreciate it.
Hi Subnetmask (255.255.255.0)
Why dont you just use ota from asus? are is your TF rooted and CWM installed?
Otherwise use gnufabio's recovery installer app to install cwm so you can upgrade.
or use nvflash to install ICS????
It looks like he wants to downgrade, or only upgrade to the latest HC and avoid ICS. I'd link you to the download from asus on their site, but of course it's down -_-
When the site is back up it should be on there. If not search for 8.6.6.21 stock rooted tf101 or along those lines.

That's exactly it. I downgraded to 8.6.5.13, but don't want to upgrade it to ICS again just yet... SInce I downgraded it to 8.6.5.13 it hasn't shut down on its own again yet (Big surprise...).
I looked on Asus' web site, and unless there's another section I couldn't find, the only non-ICS download is 8.6.5.13 for the 'CN' SKU. I've searched around Google and unless I"m missing something (always possible) nothing useful has come up yet. Searching here is kinda useless because '8.6.5.13' gets searched as '8 6 5 13' so pretty much any thread with an 8, a 6, a 5 or a 13 gets displayed :/.
I have a copy of Stock 8.6.5.21 (latest HC). I can post it up once I get to my PC.
Probably be a couple of hours.

Awesome. Thanks!
Anyone have 8.6.5.19? I don't know why I'm having so much trouble, but I can't get my TF101 to re-root for the life of me. I've tried on the bare 8.6.5.13 & with 8.6.5.21, with ViperMod, NachoRoot and Razorclaw. .13 is too old and .21 is too new for Razorclaw, Nachroot by it's self didn't seem to work right, and Vipermod, using option 3 didn't seem to work either. The problem with ViperMod was when it came back saying UID should be '0', it was always '2000'. If I cna get .19, I should be able to use Razorclaw, then rootkeeper, and update to .21. Then I just need to make the Asus update prompts go away...

I have not seen any 8.6.5.19 (Asus pulled it pretty quick after RazorClaw)
There's a 8.6.6.19 you can use (It's for the TF101G but work on the TF101)

I saw that thread. The file appears to be for 'WW' SKUs, and MultiUpload appears to not be working. The other problem is if I could DL it, I doube I'd be able to apply 8.6.5.21 once rooted.
Don't know why I'm having so much trouble rooting the thing... I've done it after every release since I got it. I must've just gone stoopid lol. Searching for root give ICS information overload.

This link still work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21729271&postcount=250
It doesn't matter if it's WW or not. your goal is to get root and after which you can flash the correct version for your region.
If it work and you get root, use OTA Root Keeper to save your root, upgrade to 8.6.5.21 and restore root. Worth a try
Finally got it rooted... After about an hour of searching, I found the method that I had originally used (the 'One Click' root found here). I installed OTA Root keeper, but that didn't work on my upgrade to .21 from .9. I ended up having to re-root, but since the 'One-Click' worked, it wasn't too painful. Using linix to root it is so obscure (to me) I totally forgot about it.
Still, if someone happens to have the 8.6.5.19 update file (Call me wierd, but I'd rather have/use the proper file for my unit rather than the one for the TF101g even though it may work fine), it would be great to get that to add to my 'collection'.
Hi, couple weeks ago I bought Acer Iconia One 7 B1-770-K476 NT.LBTAA.001. Seems that it is a new model and I can't find any info or faq how to make root on it. I tried different tools (framaroot, kingroot and others) but no success.
Also strange thing in setting (Apps), no option (button) to move app to SD card. Install some apps and tablet is full.
Will be glad for your help.
At first want to root it. Then need recovery to be able to use custom firmwares.
Thanks!
I used king root to root my tablet, but we gonna need a custom recovery to install xposed and be able to move apps to the sd
I also used kingroot to get root. The PC version, not the apk. To move apps to SDcard im using the paid version of Link2sd, the free one doesnt let you move the whole apps. I havent found any custom roms or recovery though.
carlosomar222, or unleashurfreak, can any of you elaborate?
I was unable to use KingRoot (PC version) because it never detected my tablet.
Where did you get the drivers?
You can find drivers on the acer support web site, but you can just try using the apk instead, its easier, by the way I managed to install xposed framework using flashfire that way you can run a module to use the SD card as internal storage , now we just need a custom recovery, i also replaced king root with super su using a script I found on a website, I can get the link if anyone is interested

The KingRoot APK did not work.
It was unable to find a solution for my device.
Could it possibly be because I have the latest update installed?
That's why I want to try the PC version instead.
Unfortunately, the drivers fail to install on my PC.
Are you also using B1-770?
Has anyone else successfully rooted this device?
And if you have, could you please share the steps you took to do so?
Really appreciated!
I also have a B1-770 with the latest update. The PC version of King Root failed.
Greg
Don't try to root b1-770 models, is brick your device.
I have tried many PC/APK rootkit, nothing work. For finish, I have returned the tablet on the store to get new one, OS have crashed (many errors with build-in apps, wifi problems, startup of device very long).
In my tests, I have found the reason of impossibility to root this tablet;
- Bootloader is locked
- No pre-root
- Android 5 have more security about rootkit
- Rootkit is only made for Android 4.x and lower
- Acer have added few security and reject all modifications on system files (with and without the Android protection)

For now, no. Many reason make it hard to root. is not impossible, but no right solution for this tablet.
Keep in mind...
- Android 4.x and lower have few security breach and can be rooted with many way; B1-770 is under Android 5.0.1
- Other Android device are pre-root (User on device is not root but if you connect by ADB, you have the root); B1-770 is not pre-root, SU is protected (trying modifing this files, and others make a crash when trying to update OS)
- Unlock bootloader, or unlocked bootloader can make easy root with right kit; B1-770 have a locked bootloader, Acer not offer any way to unlock it.
Is possible to root, but need a skill with Android OS, can compile your own Android OS version, insert root, and upload/replace it on the tablet. But you need to know what you made. You can also extract bootloader, modifing it, etc.... but need a high skill in Android security.
DON'T TRY FASTBOOT; Under ADB, you can reboot the device on Fastboot mode. But Windows not have the drivers for handle this mode. You need to Reset/reboot tablet for returning in Android OS (the hole between power and volume button).
I have searched many roots, because whant to move installed APP on my SD Card (with symlink), Android have removed this feature since 4.4.x (some devices have always this feature, is added by the developper). Rooting this tablet is totally unsafe; don't known if you loose some options of tablet (ex; my cell phone, if is rooted, camera stop working, with my other tablet, the wifi have some problems to keep connection long time).
My suggestion; wait a root and few comments about this before root. You must keep a unrooted tablet running good between a bricked tablet can't run anything.
