[APP] Keyboard Layout Switcher - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

Hi everybody,
I made an application for changing the keyboard layout of the dock if you are root. You need to do it every time you flash a new rom, but with it it's faster.
For people who don't know : When you use the dock keyboard, if the virtual keyboard is not the Asus one, the dock layout is in Qwerty, it's a bit annoying for people who are not English.
Anyway, the app is translated (English/ French).
Please feel free to post comments.
By the way, it is designed to work only with the Transformer. It should work on other Transformer modele (Prime, HD etc...), assuming it is the same files.
I made a version with ad if you want to support me.

Please feel free to report me bug, or anything else.
Thanks XDA !

There is a bug with Switkey (market version) and Fr layout, Caps lock doesn't work, but with SwiftKey Beta (and obviously next market version) it is fixed.

First of all thx for the nice work...
i downloaded the apk and tried it out on the nightly build of cm9.
i can launch the app, but then the selectable item stays black, so i can not change the lay out... i never got the question for superuser permission, so i guess that is where it somewhere went wrong?

The app don't need the su permission to list language files. The problem is probably in CM9 , i will try it this week-end.

Hi, what rom did you used ? Because i tried Megatron just now, and it worked.

I used the nightly build of cm9... straight from cm...

Okay, i tried something but it didn't work, i think i know the solution, but i need some time.

Ok, i tried something, it didn't work. I spend most of my day here.
Then i went to the Transformer Settings, and found an "Advanced" menu (just after "Apps"), where you can change the dock's layout.

Hey NitroG42, I just found your app here, installed it, works right out of the box and bought the ad-free version (even though I'm adfree) to say thank you!

Thank you very much !

Hi guys, i added on demand the dvorak layout. You can find it on the market version !

Hi, cool app
For french layout, caps and caplock don't work, so sad...
(it work for reaching numbers , but not for capitalizing letters)

You use swiftkey aren't you ?
Because it came from the market version of Swiftkey. Switch to the beta or wait for the update.

tried it.
1. it works but it's not easy to understanding the method of adding dvorak layout.
2. the search button doesn't work after switched to dvorak layout (US).
overall is good.

sorry not working
not working i'm using cm10

My app isn't working on CM rom, sorry.

Can´t change chinesse input method!!!
Dear all, I have the big problem that I have in my x10 mini the touchpal in chinesse as default, it is a system app. So I can´t use other input method or app to write sms. How can I change the lenguaje of this app?? I want spanish or english!! Are there any apps which make this work?? Thanks
I too am looking for this input in an apk. Willing to 'donate' for the cause should it work.
I know other inputs are possibly better but I'm used to this one now and can make it work as fast and easy as I want it to. Familiarity is good.
edit: and I'm learning Chinese but not fluent enough yet to read the above linked forum and request a Chinese person put it together.

Are you talking about this one?
^^ that's the one but I tend to use the qwerty for pinyin input. Do you have an apk for it? Are you able to mash one together? I'm still fairly new with android stuff and don't want to stuff up my beloved.

Yes, yes I do.
I've attached it here.
If you'd like, you can donate to me here
but it's not really a big deal.
Cheers, is this your work?
I pulled it from the system off my phone.
Wasn't much, but yeah I did it.
Enjoy
Alright cool. I don't mind honoring my previous statement and donating a small amount, but I'll test it out first to see if it works.
Thanks again
is there one for chinese hand writing input?
The HWR is handwriting recognition. I tested this now and it works great!
Thanks to zephyrix for sorting this out

1. Go to settings > Applications and check the unknown sources box.
2. From the market install an app installer (I use App Installer by ModMyMobile)
3. Download the apk file uploaded earlier in this thread
4. Open it with your new app installer. This will install the keyboard.
To switch to this keyboard press and hold in a text field and go to input method and select Chinese Keyboard.
To switch from English to PinYin to Handwriting Recognition press the cog icon in the bottom left of the keyboard.
To change settings of the keyboard press and hold the cog icon in the bottom left of the keyboard.

Did the apk say it installed correctly? If so then you should be able to select the Chinese keyboard by pressing and holding your finger on the text box and selecting 'Input method' then Chinese keyboard. Note: I've not tried the apk here on the android 2.1 update. It may not work.
it's not working on version 2.2.1
i'll recommend HKIME

[Q] 2.2.1 (Serendipity 5.x) input languages

Hey guys,
When setting up Gingerbread Keyboard, it allows to choose more input languages (Settings / Locale and Text / Gingerbread Keyboard / Input Languages). However, when actually typing, switching to the other language still uses English for entry (I'm switching with the slider on the spacebar).
Is there any way to fix that?
many thanks!
I don't use any stock keyboard.
There is one European keyboard in romkitchen.org - but it doesn't work in nonI9000=based ROMs.
So get MultiLing keyboard free from Market.
Well, I'd rather swype with a different language, but lang options on swype seem even more limited... if there was an option to extend it, I'd just stock to that.
thanks for the tip!

try i9000 theme forum, there is swype with other languages. see if they work, you always flash back the original if it doesn't.

Thanks icezar1! I'll keep an eye out
I had the same issue and solved it by downloading another gingerbread keyboard apk
Download: Keyboard for 2.2 | for 2.1
It's a little late my answer, but anyways

Solved it in the meantime with the Russian Keyboard app: https://market.android.com/details?id=ru.androidteam.rukeyboard. Works well; plus need to switch "Input method" either way from Swype.
Most of the time I use this great gingerbread keyboard and at night when I go to bed sometimes I use Swype.
Totally addicted to swype - by now I just miss the keys on regular keyboards

[APP] Swype for AOSP ROMs

EDIT: the problem is solved in the lastest version of Swype, so you can use it again without problems. In order to use it, delete /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypeCore.so and then install Swype Beta.
Also, I remove the link of the one I posted here. Even though it's included in our stock ROMs, I prefer not to post the app here.
______________
Swype Beta is driving me crazy (swype consistently breaks apart my words (thinks i lifted my finger off screen)) and I think I'm not the only one. As stated in that thread, keyboards included in stock ROMs are optimized and should work better (of course) and in fact the one from XXLE4 is working very well.
Download link removed
I was looking for something like this... And here its is... Will try it now...Thanks a lot...
By the way, what do you mean by the keyboard layout? Did you changed the position of the letters or something...

Yes, usually Swype keeps the same keyboard and changes few keys. This new version also adds keys (accented letters for example).
Open Swype.apk (apk=zip), go to assets/files/ and open some of the "xxxx_Capitalization.png" to see what I mean (maybe there are some changes only in french/italian/spanish keyboards).

Multiling Keyboard with the Dock

Hello,
I am planning to buy an Asus Transformer Infinity, and as an Armenian language user, I simply do not imagine my life without Multiling Keyboard . But I'm not sure whether this keyboard will work with the dock or not. Will I have the same typing experience with the physical keyboard of the Asus Transformer as I have on-screen (layout etc.)? Has anyone tested it (not exactly the Armenian layout, but just the app with the dock)?
Most importantly, I want to make sure that I will be able to switch between English and a second (Armenian) with the keys combination, as in the case of the default Asus keyboard. Even if this is not a supported feature by default, maybe there are some solutions/fixes for this? I'm ready to root my device or tweak some system files and settings, if it will help.
The question is, there is no other app that supports Armenian input language even half as well as Miltiling Keyboard, that's why I would like to ask the Multiling users here to share your experience with me.
Thank you in advance.
I have been using multiling with the dock without major issue, but with English UK. The only problem I find is that the " ? ! etc characters will not be in the same place. However, you may be able to learn the new positions easily? I'm sorry that I'm not familiar with Armenian to know if there are other critical special characters you will need.
I keep meaning to investigate if it's possible to remap the characters on multiling. I believe it is a better soft keyboard than the Asus one, or the default android 4.1 keyboard which is also installed by default. I'm looking forward to trying the android 4.2 default keyboard.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply, Gudders . Have you tried to switch languages while you use Multiling with the dock, or you use only Engilsh UK? If it is not too difficult, can you please check the Armenian language in the Multiling settings in order to have two selected languages, and try to switch them with the dock (keys combinations, spacebar...), or at last just try to type something Armenian with the dock?
Thanks!
I have been trying to figure out the same but for Spanish. So far I haven't been able to get special characters to work from the dock keyboard. I haven't been able to get things like alt-134 to work for writing a ñ. I waited for 3 months for Asus to release a latin keyboard and they keep saying it is coming soon but it still is not available. I finally just bought an English version but so far haven't been able to figure this stuff out.

I am happy to try for you. I can download and install Armenian. You can switch using shift and spacebar in search, chrome, kingsoft office, gmail and some others. I tried to get a screenshot, but I can't seem to upload it to XDA (browser issue I think). The only problem I had was with the stock browser. I couldn't get it to switch, or type Armenian characters. It may just need a restart. It does type the charactes and switch using the search bar in the stock browser, but on google page or XDA reply box it wouldn't.
Hope that helps.

[Q]How to install Note Pro stock keyboard on custom ROM?

Hi,
I was trying to get an answer to this but couldn't find anywhere.
I have just flashed Cyanogenmod on my Note Pro and found myself missing the good old Samsung stock keyboard.
I was thinking to download a differnt keyboard from the play store but after a long search i still want the stock keyboard (with the arrows, the ctrl and tab keys).
please help me to find a way to reinstall the samsung stock keyboard.
Thank you
Ray
This is the official app for it... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.visionobjects.resourcemanager
Alternatively, try Hacker's Keyboard for a truly full key set. It's a keyboard designed for coders, but as a writer I absolutely adore it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard It also has several dictionaries for T9.
Thanks for replying.

Thank you for your reply but the official app you suggested can't be downloaded from the play store.
(No install button and says: "your device is not compatible with this version")
As for the hacker's keyboard, I tried and think it's a good option but it's missing one important feature... No Swype
I don't think I'm asking that much... I just want a full keyboard with ctrl, tab, arrow keys, Swype and prediction.... That's all
Thanks again.
I think if it were me I'd have rooted stock, done a full backup in Titanium, as well as an nandroid of stock using TWRP prior to switching to CM. Once CM was running I'd selectively restore app only from Titanium being mindful that some old system apps may be touchwiz specific and may cause issues (so I'd update nandroid of CM periodically as I added them).
The APK is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46847745&postcount=88
I can't guarantee that it'll work though. Probably need to set permissions and all.
Try Ki Keyboard, it's on the play store ,I'm just not allowed to link to it until I reach 10 posts.
I paid for it, needed a keyboard which would allow me to change the width/height/padding/margin of each key on the keyboard. By doing this, I managed to measure out my home full-size keyboard, and the keys, and create a near 1:1 replica using Ki Keyboard. I hate touchscreen keyboards, but this is the closest I can get!
