Actually the 21y is gone/"Forbidden". But thank you for uploading the 21e, I've got my XP Mode ready and I've read (and re-read) the handful of posts regarding how to handle this properly. I have my phone in S/W Upgrade mode, and recognized by XP (with drivers installed), so I'm going to hope and pray I can get this working, because I don't have a copy of XP any more, nor do I have a machine I could put it on at the moment.

Hmm. I wonder why it wasn't working for me then? Perhaps overloaded servers. It is working now, I can confirm.
On the other hand, the V21E rescued my phone. Took hours of tinkering, and dealing with my XP Mode environment, but it worked. Thank you again, overground!

Why use the thanks button when the information posted has been provided elsewhere and directly from LG, not through another download website? The links I've provided for the various .kdz files, including V21e and V21y are for downloads directly from LG. There are two versions of V21e for which I've provided both links and the V21y LG link still works. I've also provided a link to LG for the WIND mobile and Videotron .kdz files. There's too much duplication of the same information which confuses and causes the same questions to be asked over and over and over... again. I think different single topic "stickies" are necessary for posts of firmware and the method(s) of installing them so that anyone who wants that information has a specific place to get it.

I didn't know V21e was posted elsewhere, or I wouldn't have wasted the time to upload it. This was done per request. I also linked to your v21y thread.
Don't really know why you've been so conflict prone recently, but I'm not enjoying it.
Why don't you write up one thread that contains all, PM me with the link, and I'll sticky it?

The G2X forum needs a thread only for LG/T-Mobile provided firmware update files (.kdz, etc.) and another one for successful firmware installation methods which have commenting locked-out. That would eliminate duplication and no one would need any acknowledgment as the source of the firmware updates. Successful installation methods would be verified and discussed in a separate thread only for that purpose.

Could you list links to each modem individually along with the package. The package is nice and all, but I hate to have to download the entire package when a new modem comes out. Either that or dig through the leak thread for the first person to package it up. That is what made GTGs thread so amazing, having the individual link to each modem.
Update: tried KK1, got abysmal data speeds <.2 Mbps, KI3 is still king, followed by KJ2.

[Q] (Samsung Infuse) How do I install Roms that are RAR, Zip, etc.

Can anyone please post on this thread on how to install a Rom on a Samsung Infuse? I have downloaded the current ROM for it and do not know how to do it. I have found some directions on YouTube but to no avail. This would help others.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318160
And this belongs in the Questions section.
What ROMs are you referring to exactly? All custom ROMs are flashable through CWM recovery. The "official" gingerbread leaks from przekret are only flashable through Odin or Heimdall. Directions for both of these methods already exists in infuse general and infuse q&a sections. I would suggest a google search with something like this:
Code:
site:xda-developers.com samsung infuse how to install ROM via Odin
It'll tell google to ONLY search xda-developers.com for your search term. The xda search sucks (IMO).
yo have to root the phone and have CWM instaled then you can flash what you want....and this is not a development question...please post in right section
I know but seemed like I wasnt getting a good response so I decided to quickly ask here.
I am referring to SGH-I997_I997UCKL2_UC_ATT.RAR
I promise I will remove soon and put in the correct section to help others with similar question.
I do not have rooted phone so I downloaded the ROM that was non-rooted

If that is the leak from prezkret thread, you'll need to extract the rar and there should be a tar.md5 in there (if memory serves). You will need to use Odin to flash this on your device so being rooted is not necessary. Put your phone into download mode, connect it to your pc, fire up odin and put the tar.md5 that is within this rar into the pda slot. That's all you'll need to do.

So, because you were impatient, you felt a need to break the rules of this forum and post in a section you are explicitly not suppost to post new threads in unless the thread is for something YOU have created?
What makes you think you are so special and are allowed to break the rules?

Hacks for WIND Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G?

I picked up a WIND Samsung Galaxy S 4G today. I looked in the Android Dev thread here and I don't see anything specifically for this phone.
The model number is T-959W so I don't want to try anything with hacks/roms etc meant for the T-Mobile version.
I'd be happy to supply a dump of my phone for any devs who want to play around and help us here in the great white north!
Thanks
System dump would be nice if you can provide it. I'd advice against installing any mods you found here. Good thing you're cautious
Great, thanks! I have never done a dump before so I'll have to look into how to do it. I will let you know when I do.
I see it has 8 gig internal, we only got 2 there's a tutorial somewhere for system dumps, let me find you the link.
You need to be rooted I believe.

I have heard that there may be an update in August. It may be prudent to wait for this update before capturing a ROM image, in case important fixes are made.
I guess a good question would be whether anyone has had any experience flashing T-Mobile SGH-959v ROMs on to this device.
Another avenue could be to ask someone inside Samsung whether they changed much between models.

Absolutely! I'm currently taking a little break (gotta find a job... like two weeks ago.), but when the dust settles, I'll take a little look at the source and see if we can help out.
What you could start with is a diff between the SGH-T959V-TMB_GB_Opensource.zip and the SGH-T959W_NA_GB_Opensource.zip drops.
I'd be willing to look into giving you guys something fun to work with.
I'll do a series of diffs tonight on the T959W stock kernel source and the T959V sources (stock and our CM kernel).

You really shouldn't flash roms not made for your phone. If they contain bootloaders, you could brick your phone.
Hey T959W people. Looked at the source and things are looking pretty close. I'm not saying to run off and flash our stuff, but I need some info and someone with the big kahunas to try flashing some stuff.
Please be running linux. I can't help you with windows problems.
It would also be helpful if you have a usb download mode jig.
You can get one here:
http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-s-download-mode-jig/
Ok Canadians! I've verified that the SGH-T959W should be exactly the same as the SGH-T959V.
There were some interesting differences between our T959V and T959W that may fix some bugs for us on T959V.
With that said, please... please... please, read all of the instructions for flashing ROMs and Kernels very carefully!
If the rom contains bootloaders, please DO NOT flash them until we can confirm there are no bootloader differences.
Like I said before, it is very common to soft brick your device. It is not the end, and do not worry if you do this. Make sure you get yourself a usb download mode jig here:

This will help you use heimdall or odin to flash stuff to your phone to make everything happy again.
You will only hard brick this device by writing the wrong bootloaders to the phone, which is why I am warning you to not flash bootloaders, for now!
With that, enjoy cm7, cm9, aokp, et alii!
I will also announce this in the android general forum!

I managed to get my Wind SGH-T959W rooted and up and running with a unofficial CM9 build, but it took a bit of work.
Firstly, I tried just about every one-click solution out there, to no avail. It's possible SOC 1.7 with rattlethecage works, but I didn't have the patience to find out whether I simply had to wait a bit longer.
I followed this guide(whilst clenching every clenchable muscle I could consciously control):
http://www.galaxyforums.net/forum/o...mission-t-mobile-galaxy-s-4g-gingerbread.html
The gist is, Odin 1.7, stock+voodoo for T959V, plus some update that I'm not qualified to describe. That should get you rooted and if that's all you're looking for, you'll have to suffer through a little T-Mobile branding on startup.
Once you got it all rooted, you'd think it'd be a good idea to toss sgs-ics on there, right? Well, no. After installing the 4G variant, it promptly set off into a boot loop which I'm again, unqualified to diagnose. The obvious solution was to try another team's version of ICS, which I indeed found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730954
Barring some missing features, it sounds like a good alternative to sgs-ics. Though I had to go through one additional step, which I really, honestly assure you I was under-qualified to execute. When I tried to load Team Acid's CM9 r3 it gave me an assert on the updater-script, since the hardware didn't match up. Easy. Unzip the package, open up META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script, remove the first check. You know it's the same hardware, you don't need some stinkin' script to tell you it won't work.
So all said and done, I now have a Wind Mobile SGH-T959W running ICS 4.0.4 courtesy of bhundven, the Odin folks, Team Acid, and likely a slew of other contributors.
Thanks folks, and enjoy!
PS, if you want that tarball bhundven, send me a PM with some brief instructions, and hopefully you can help my fellow Winders.

PS, if you want that tarball bhundven, send me a PM with some brief instructions, and hopefully you can help my fellow Winders.

Please:
Code:
adb pull /system/build.prop
edit the file with notepad++(windows), textedit(macosx), or gedit(linux) and put the results on pastebin.com.
Then paste the link in this forum.
THANKS!

Correct Kies exe for recent ICS.

I've gone to the link provided in the txt message sent my AT&T and downloaded Kies, but it keeps asking for it to update...I uninstalled and reinstalled and no luck. Anyone have the correct ICS Kies exe they can post?
Thanks in advance, and yes I also have a Galaxy Note and successfully updated that but having trouble with Skyrocket.

I could've sworn I stated it keeps asking to update...Maybe I wasn't clear, I've updated it 10 times but nothing. I've uninstalled 3 times and reinstalled and nothing. I know Samsung is experiencing issues with their servers, initially that's the same issue alot of us Note users had. Someone was able to post the correct version of Kies (exe file), but can't seem to be happening for the skyrocket.
Edit the registry, remove kies entries, reboot, reinstall
See how that does

So u give him the same exact link from the text? The download button at the bottom of the page is the exact same version he has now. I know you're trying to help but dig a little deeper next time.

Unfortunately that is the correct file. I'd try a complete uninstall and reg sweep, reboot, reinstall. Seems something borked during the setup.

Ya many people had the same issues updating their Note's, someone though posted the exe file and it worked... just need to verify the correct version for the Skyrocket and i can update the Kiesversion.txt file to the correct one to see if it works.

I'm experiencing the same thing on my work laptop. I'm in the middle of a business trip so I can't try another machine. I'd love the direct link to the correct Kies installation as well.

If you are trying to get the update, there have been a few suggested ways to get it. Shake your head some more and take the help or keep searching.
Kids like you make the vets not want to help.

First off if you and everyone else who posted and or replied would've read the OP, you would've seen what I was asking. FYI child I ain't no kid, one simple question was asked and idiots like you reply the wrong way. So first off if you want to be helpful I'd change the way you approach or reply to people's comments and do some reading. You do know how to read right? Not trying to be rude or be an asshole by saying so but many people on here think they big and bad, when in the "Real" world they nothing but scrubs. Again one simple question was asked, but people need to take the time to read before looking like jackasses and replying with something not even close to the original question asked.

First off, this post is in the wrong place. If you are asking for something, you need to post in Q&A. Second, please don't be abrasive to other members, especially those ones trying to help you out.

Actually if you see they weren't helping, they were quick to judge "cough cough" and failed to read the OP. Thanks for moving

Kies_2.3.2.12054_20_1 google search for that version, it will want to update so let it.
i though it was a problem so i uninstall'd my kies then installed this did the update and all is working as it should.
so i can confirm this ver works on a win 7 x64 if it still wants to update after updating it then there is something wrong with your computer,
give it a try.
