this is the first time i'm trying to flash a custom rom. I can't seem to install cyanogen 7.1.0. I tried flashing the file named "update-cm-7.1.0-encore-signed.zip" using twrp recovery. But I get this error in recovery saying " installing update
assert failed: get prop "ro.product.device" =="
Error in E:temp/side load/package.zip (status 7)
And then I reboot to my stock Ics. My nexus s is running the matr1x kernel. Nexus s I9020.
Has this got any thing to do with the fact that my phone was running the stock ics prior to being rooted?

Are you sure you have downloaded the correct file?
I thought that the nexus s file contained the word "crespo"

Also try to download a nandroid backup in the android dev section and try to restore it first. It might be able to fix your problem if you accidentally corrupted one your imgs. It flashes all the img files to your nand.

Did you try flashing the stock firmware image using fastboot (a guide for 4.1.1 is here, but applicable for any google image as such)
Once you flash the stock image, you can re-root and try flashing custom ROM's
I fixed it now all I did was unroot then root my phone again. Thanks for all the help and I will use these suggestions next time if this happens. Thank you all again thank you very very much.

I searched the threads for an answer but could not find one.
I keep getting an error (error 7) while trying to flash on my Xoom. I tried to fix permissions. That did not work.

You must flash gapp CNA before install cna rom, then flash gapp again

Awesome. Thanks.
I've got another problem with the rom. I have a wifi connection but no 3g. I choose the 3g Xoom version when downloading straight from CNA's site. Not sure why this is happening.

Try using TWRP to install the ROM. You are probably using some version of CWM.

Gents, I've been trying to install CM11 ROM using CWM. However, I'm getting this "set_metadata_recursive" some changes failed Status 7 error. I'm using the latest version of CMW and the file is complete (downloaded by phone and computer). I've wiped everything before trying the install, but no luck. Currently I'm running a HTC One Official Android 4.3 Stock ROM+Root. Can someone help me out? Before this error it was giving me a "no context"error

Looked through the script and couldn't find anything. Furthermore, this error is recurrent with the previous version of kitkat ROM. Where you prefer the file to be uploaded? Below is a screen shot of the error. Thanks in advance.

Kit Kat Roms seems to only run on the most recent recovery. TWRP has many problems, CWM seems to be the best bet right now. It could be the ROM you're using. There are many kit Kat Roms out right now. Try some others as well. A lot of kit Kat isn't very stable right now anyway. You'd be better off waiting for the official release. :cyclops:
